This book was absolutely amazing, the perfect summer read by the pool. The tension between the characters was perfect and I devoured the book in one sitting.
Unfortunately I just couldn’t get into this book I had to dnf. I do appreciate the arc. I am still giving 3 stars as it wasn’t written poorly
This was regular grumpy boss sunshiney girl romance and while I have read better books in this trope, I can admit that it's hard to write original and better books in a trope that is used quite awesome. That being said, it was a fun book. It was a good story and is worth a read if you're a fan of the grumpy boss trope.
Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
On one hand I really thought the sexual chemistry between the two main characters was through the roof. While Aiden sexuallized Mia a lot more than I was comfortable with, I couldn't deny how turned on i was by his words.
I gave it 3 stars just for how well the author depicts a very alpha, possessive hero. Now for the heroine, I wish she gave it back as well as she got. She catered a lot to his desires but didn't demand his complete surrounder.. I wanted him to grovel and beg for the mere bliss of her touch. I wanted him to focus on her pleasure as well. And this is were it fell apart for me. He was too much of a selfish lover and possessiveness doesn't always equal love.
Unfortunately, I didn't love this one. Was it awful, absolutely not but it's very insta-lovey.
It's advertisied as a grumpy x sunshine / workplace romance which it is, talk about whirlwind... more like tornado they practically fell for each other instantly and that just didn't work for me.
Thank you NetGalley for this book!
When I requested this book, I was really curious, but the moment it ended on my Kindle, I was a little bit hesitant (without a good reason though). But because of my hesitation, it took me quite some time to dive in this book.
And maybe because of my hesitation, this book was so much better than expected. It is a shame that it took me so long to pick this one up, because it was AMAZING!
I completely fell in love with Aidan. The way he is portrayed in the synopsis, doesn’t do him justice. At all.
It was – however – the reason why I requested this book, because who doesn’t love a good grump, but he was so much better! He is sweet and nice and so lovable! And especially, he loves Mia so, so much, it is so adorable!
I am a sucker for slow burn and this book checked off all the right boxes for me. The chemistry between Mia and Aidan was amazing and the smut took the book to a new level for me.
Although my review is only coming up at the end of the summer, please read this book to extend the summer feelings a little bit longer. You’ll thank me later!
Must read, really!
Rating: ****,5
A big thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the beginning of a new series. This was a fun book, great friends. Aiden is an odd dude but cute. I really liked Mia -she is quirky. But the friends that make the book. So much fun, it made me laugh. Loved the book. 4 stars
I tried really hard enjoying this book, but I failed. The couple had no chemistry and the scenes were so boring and bad… everything sucked. The plot had potential and the author’s writing wasn’t bad, but the book was just sloppy. It just wasn’t for me, I guess.
Love a good grumpy/sunshine romcom! The smut was a little forced and not natural enough for me, but everything else was perfection!
DNF…..The writing wasn’t great, but when the MMC’s first chapter was just talking about how good the FMC looked and that was so fit said she looked like “this girl knows how to take care of herself”, I was out. Just gave me the ick….no thanks.
I was drawn to this one because of the premise and the title seemed cute enough, but it was such a let down.
The first half of the book was cute, I liked the banter between Mia and her friends, and some of the exchanges between her and Aiden were fun and entertaining. It seemed to be going well because it didn't feel like a "rushed romance" where they meet and they're professing their everlasting love to each other, instead they were taking their time interacting with each other and seeing where their attraction led.
I was starting to like this book until their inner monologues became all about lusting for each other and their sexual needs. There wasn't enough romance to convince me to connect with the characters or believe their story. It just seemed like we jumped time so we could believe they were taking their time with each other, but we didn't see that.
The biggest problem with this novel is that the monologue in Aiden's head when it came to Mia was to objectify her every chance he got. Even when there was something cute going on, he had to ruin it because he couldn't control himself.. he was so gross. When they finally got together he became this possessive and jealous man that just seemed out of nowhere and it was so off putting. He asked to prove her love by performing oral sex on him... that's not it...he also went down on her when she was still sleeping.. what???
It should've been an easy read but it took me weeks to get through it. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
The premise of this book promised an enemies to lovers theme, however I felt that the majority of this book led with physical attraction masking itself as a love connection. The male character Aiden spent most of his narration thoughts waxing excessively about the female character Mia’s physical attributes and it immediately deadened my interest in their “love story”. Sometimes I just want to see and feel an emotional connection between two leads, not read into a f*ck boy’s innermost sexual thoughts.
"Small town love story of town's sweetheart and new Corporate CEO starting his new venture" will be the storyline of this book. When big corporate boss decides to open his new resort in small town Shell Groove, Grovians doesn't like him much. Much to his dismay, the locals actually thought he was evil incarnation. Funny how people react to growth and new development in their comfy little town.
But Mia reserved all those thoughts and want to explore the new job opportunity. When she meets the so called, Big *evil-incarnate* boss, she instantly got attracted to him. She is not judging him from where he come from and trying to look for him for what he is.
Aiden doesn't like small towns much either but this location is good for his business. He meets Mia and enthralled by her kindness, selflessness, witty, sarcastic charm and beauty ofcourse.
They think they are different people but they are not. Deep down they are one and same and perfect for each other. But how does it takes to realise this fact for Aiden and Mia is the storyline.
The plot was good, smut is given, but the thrill and butterflies in stomach while reading was missing for me. Maybe this book is not my cup of tea.
This is a cute summer read. Mia and Aiden have instant chemistry when they meet. Aiden is the grumpy CEO of a major resort. He built the resort in a small town and it is not popular with the locals. Mia is the town’s bubbly sweetheart. She has taken a job at the resort much to the confusion of some of the town’s citizens. There are some funny episodes and great dialogue which makes the book endearing. This is the first book of a series. If you need a beach read check this one out.
it started out as such a cute story, but later towards the end everything got a little bit bland and I lost my connection with the characters honestly.
This was the perfect book for summer! IT was a light and fun read that had me hooked from the beginning!
I was a complete dummy with this one and didn’t get to it in time before it went to archive. I didn’t download it, therefore I have no review for this one. Lesson learned. But I am going to give 5 stars, just because I want to believe that it is a good book.

Let me start by saying this book had me giggling so many times! 😂
Loved the characters and the side characters so much! (Maggie- I'm talking to you!!! 🙌)
Mia Sparks starts working for a large hotel in her small(ish) town. She has a hilarious meet cute with her boss's boss, Aiden Beaumont, while squirrel fishing.... 😂🐿🎣
Aiden is a protective, possesive grump who starts falling for the good girl-next-door sweetheart. 😍
This is definitely not a clean romance book 😉 so steer clear if you don't like some spice! 🌶🔥
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this eARC!
Exactly what I was looking for. A light and fun summer read when you aren’t looking for something too heavy. I mean look at that cover – it just screams pool read!
Unfortunately, this was not really for me. It felt a bit stilted and something in the writing felt a little off to me. I can't really pinpoint it and I fear, that this is one of those situations where it's me and not the book. The idea of the story and the construction of the characters was very lovely.
