Thank you Netgalley for this ARC. I had high hopes for this book, as the premise seems great, but this one just didn't click with me. I think the writing was sophomoric and I couldn't get past that.
The characters had potential, but the way their relationship progressed seemed very fast, almost like insta-love, and it just wasn't my jam.
This was an enjoyable summer read. Cute, a little spicy and perfectly entertaining. Everything you can ask for in a beach bag book!
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
Grumpy/sunshine is one of my favorite tropes so when I saw that Aiden, our love interest, is the public enemy CEO I just knew that I had to read it!! It was definitely good and engaging. I just loved their not meet-cute, they kinda had an instant lust, which for me was too fast but nevertheless, I still loved their interactions and their whole relationship.
The only problem for me was not getting into it properly, which might be my fault as it was during exam week but overall it was an excellent read for me.
If you love workplace romances and grumpy billionaire heroes, you should definitely give it a try!!
So this was a pretty cute, light-hearted easy, read.
It took me a quick sec to get into it though because within the first few pages she's fishing dead squirrels out of her work swimming pool and meeting the MMC and it's obviously not the most romantic of meet-cutes haha.
Anyway, this ended up being pretty cute and I really loved the book's setting, which was a resort on an SC beach. It was a nice getaway read.
I also loved the MMC, Aiden. The millionaire/billionaire trope isn't my favorite and there are soo many of them, but I felt like this one was just really good and refreshing. Maybe it was just because he acted more like a regular guy just trying to get his hotel off the ground, I don't know, but I liked him more than most millionaire MC.
Anyway, if you are looking for a light, easy read, this was pretty cute. It wasn't super hot, but it's not entirely clean either-- somewhere in the middle and a little bit of a slow burn.
*Thanks NetGalley & the publishers for the eARC.
Thanks to the publisher for this ARC!
This was a fast paced RomCom, with it’s ups and downs (some characters I hated cofRainercof), with an emotional connection between the characters and the ones around them.
I really hope we can read more about some secondary characters from this book ( I need more from Maggie, I loved her)!
I’m really torn by this book. It started off fairly decent. I loved the chemistry between Aiden (Grumpy) and Mia (Sunshine). Then about 65% in, I realized that this book is just a tease.
For starters, the sexual tension was building quite a bit throughout the story, but the actual night felt like an afterthought. The Jet Ski/Pool scenes were significantly more spicy than the actual big night.
Secondly, I HATED what happened with the characters. They too felt like after about 65% the development wasn’t forgotten. Aiden went from a Grumpy, Business Driven, honest, and self-assured Alpha Male to a man that is literally crippled by his insecurities and driven to and I quote “red covered my vision” moments. Which honestly, if Mia would’ve became more of an Alpha Male and stepped into her power, I would’ve seen it as balanced. Instead we get Mia when she has to do something for Aiden or Maggie.
The ending fight, rekindling, and epilogue all felt like an afterthought. This was a book that I felt could’ve cut some of the filler and served better as a novella.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
So cute - I loved Aiden and his grumpy nature and Mia is a total goof. The way the story started, I was worried that the aim was to make Mia an airhead, but it wasn’t! Mia was awesome and her confidence growth with the job was great. I loved the hijinks with Aiden and Mia getting together including chasing that dang cat!
Only note: please do not use the word “exotic” to describe a non-white person, as it is considered to be in poor taste. While the meaning is not derogatory per se, they are so many better ways to describe someone. Thank you 😊
okay i did not just finish this book ..why did it have to end !!! it was worth it .Thank you netgalley ,much appreciation to the author her team .To everyone out there who loves a good story this is a must read.i mean every good story is worth not putting down i couldnt stop
I definitely worried that this book would not be the one for me but I was so happy to have finished it and actually enjoyed it. It was a nice, light romance with a grumpy/sunshine trope to sink our teeth into. I feel like we were very Spanish Love Deception but in our own way and I enjoyed that even MORE BUT I must say, I really can't deal with the insta-love trope as much as I used to. It's never been my favourite but this time I was able to at least push through even though I was ready to hang it up.
I really did love Aiden and Mia though. I think that's why the insta-love was just ignored after a while. Aiden was trying really hard to win her and the rest of this town over and Mia was the only one willing to give him the time of day to prove he wasn't this money-hungry asshole.
While it wasn't my favourite, I'd definitely reread this in the summer, by a beach.
if you are looking for a great summer beach read this is it. I used this as a palate cleanser after a few heavier books and it did the trick!
3.5⭐️
This book has it all! There was humor, love, passion, family ties, and strong friendships. Perfect for summer reads!
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I liked this one a lot more than I had anticipated because it is far from the usual grumpy x sunshine dynamic trope, and I was relieved to see that the characters in this action-packed romcom had a lot more depth.
The chemistry between Aiden and Mia was great, and their smirk came as quite a surprise, but the book's pacing was strange. To be honest, I was unable to determine how a chapter concluded. The plot was well-written, yet there were times when it lost my interest.
Overall, this was a fun, steamy read that is perfect for readers who love workplace romances and grumpy billionaire heroes.

One of the many tropes that I love is the grumpy sunshine one and Melanie Munton delivered it. I like it when books are fast paced but contain all the details I loved the interactions between all the different characters. I am looking forward to the future books in this series.
There was so much to like about this book from Melanie Munton, but I really didn't enjoy the romance. Mia was a fun character and I loved her scenes at the resort or with her friends. I even liked how Alden and Mia met and the grumpy boss/sunshine worker dynamic. But their romance moved way too fast, bordering on insta-love. I would've preferred more buildup. Plus, Alden became almost creepy how possessive he was and how much he obsessed over her looks. I would continue with the series though because I did like the Shell Grove setting.
This was a cute story and I love the premise. Perfect summer read!. Would have been 4 stars, but the smut felt forced that and made the story feel stilted.
If the author would have let the characters take the lead on their dialogue and interaction instead of what her ideas were for the book, it would’ve felt more organic. Can’t wait to watch this author grow into her own. Very much look forward to the rest of this series.
I am here for this series! This had great banter and some sexy steam. I was laughing and smiling the whole time reading this book. I couldn't put this one down and it was a face paced read that would be perfect for your summer vacation or just by the pool. I am also a sucker for a small town setting. I will be reading this one again I know it.
I had previously read another Melanie Munton book that surprised me (my expectations were low with the cheesy cover and summary) and I found it entertaining. Unfortunately, this one was meh. I skipped over sections/paragraphs and caught up with the storyline through the dialogue, thinking let's get this done so I can move on to something better to read. This was an overall ok read.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC. Mia is a people pleaser who has a hard time saying no. She is always there when people need her the most. She takes on many roles throughout this story, and learns how to eventually stand up for herself. She meets a handsome stranger only to find out later on that he is the CEO of the hotel she works for. They explore their relationship as "boss/worker" and grow to become even more acquainted as they become familiar with each other. Aiden is infatuated with Mia all along, but being the towns "menace," he has a hard time fitting into her life. He is jealous of all the mem in her life, and works twice as hard to get all of her attention.
Going into this book, I thought it would be a romantic comedy. But halfway through, I wanted to call it quits. I have a hard time "DNF-ing" books, so I read it till the very end. I was expecting more out of this book, and wished the romance was a little stronger with a bit more banter. If Aiden weren't such an egotistical bossman, I think the story would've been nire enjoyable for me.
I got around 10% of the way through this book before I had to give up. It was written and plotted really weirdly and I just couldn’t do it anymore, the way it was written was really hard to understand the plot line.
I received this arc on kindle, by netgalley in exchange for any honest review.
Thank you net galley for this advanced copy of this book! I really wanted to love this book, and although it was a good story and an easy read, I couldn’t get past the characterization of the main man. His excessive use of the word “honey” Felt patronizing and a little off. I would say but it wasn’t a distraction and maybe I was being a little picky, but the character uses it often and it really deterred me from getting into the book.
This romance has great potential. There are for sure going to be other books in this series. The book cover is what made me request this one. I typically love a gruff jealous man who only likes the women he loves but Aiden was a little much and a little inconsistent in his reactions.
I found Mia was a little bit of a pushover when it came to Aiden, really catering to his crazy reactions. I did enjoy the romance of it all
The sex scenes were pretty spicy which I enjoyed.
I enjoyed this read. it was quick and easy and fun
