I liked the small beach town setting in South Carolina. I liked the close caring community. I liked the instant attraction between Aidan and Mia.
Aidan acts like quite the Neanderthal at times, which was alternating endearing and obnoxious.
It’s a cute story.
The most blatant thing I didn’t like is the vulgar intimate scenes. I’m not a prude, but I don’t need such graphic depictions. Something that is left to the reader’s imagination goes a long way.
3.75 stars rounded up to 4 stars. A fun grumpy/sunshine trope romance that was both sweet and steamy.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of "Reasons Why Not to Date Public Enemy CEO" by Melanie Munton. This novel is scheduled to release on June 21st, 2022!
It tells the story of Mia, who is scooping a dead squirrel out of a pool when the CEO of the company she works for is passing by. Mia has a degree in elementary education but has no idea what she wants to do with the rest of her life since having graduated college. She was previously married to her high school sweetheart, Rainer - and they divorced because he did not wish to stay in their hometown of Shell Grove - the only place that Mia has ever been able to call home. She was miserable the few years that she lived elsewhere for college and for Rainer's career endeavors.
As time progresses, Mia comes up with a way to make the resort in Shell Grove more profitable, and the CEO Aiden takes her ideas into consideration, presenting them to the board. He also gives her a new job title, even though she has not been employed for that long.
Overall, I would rate this novel a 3.5 out of 5 stars!
As any lover of romance books knows, every great love story starts with a dead squirrel. Or maybe that's just this one...
Aiden and Mia's story is a perfect love story. From their instant attraction to working through their lifestyle difference, you can't help but root for them. their chemistry goes from sweet to spicy in a matter of moments and let me tell you, Aiden Beaumont is a man after my own heart. His hard exterior can only be softened by a curly haired blonde named Mia Sparks. Their relationship is so wonderfully written as they figure their was through small town opinions, unexpected guests, and good lord, some damn hot sexual attraction.
Not only do we get two wonderfully romantic leads, but the abundance of side characters fills this book with so much life. Mia's family and friends bring joy, laughter, and...more potential romance to this book, which only makes the reader look forward to more Shell Grove!
Reasons Why Not to Date Public Enemy CEO is an amazing read for any romance lover out there and you NEED to check it out on release day!!
This was a quick, summer read. The formatting was a bit all over the place though which made it hard/annoying to read though. There was a bit of insta love, as the hero was enamoured with the heroine from the first meeting, but the author did take some time to build/develop the relationship and their interactions. A lot of world building in this and lots of detail re the town and side characters which maybe padded out the book in parts. Overall the chemistry was not too bad and it was a fairly cute story but not one that feels particularly memorable. (2.75. ⭐️)
Grouchy CEO Aiden Beaumont builds his new resort in a small beach town.
Small town sweetheart Mia Sparks gets a job at his hotel.
These two are instantly attracted to each other from the beginning. The banter starts of immediately and Doesn’t stop. They also face their share of issues (small town hates change, employer/employee relationship, and more!).
Join these two for the up and downs and spice this book brings!
Thank you NetGalley for the arc.
i wasn't expecting to love this one as much as i did but trust and believe, i ate this bad boy up!
normally, it doesn't take me an entire week t finish a book that i'm so interested in but because it was my final week of school, i could only sneak in chapters during my lunch break. like it was bad for me.
anywhosie, let me tell you why i loved this book. it was cheesy and it had heart, and those are two factors i love in a contemporary romance. i never disliked mia during my time reading this, which if i'm going to be honest, i wanted to, i reeeeaalllyyy wanted to. but she's just so loveable it hurts. and aiden. his character growth literally had me cheering.
this book definitely wasn't perfect. i'm a sucker for dual povs and i think the writing would've excelled if it utilized it. as i said before, it was a little corny. i loved it, it's what i was expecting, i just know a lot of people would be thrown off by it. overall, i had an amazing time reading this book!

Qotd - Which is a perfect beach read according to you?
You will fall all into this one! Both lead characters draw you in and make you root for them. Wesley does a great intro to the story creating characters that develop with the storyline. It doesn’t feel forced and the climax doesn’t take 50 years to be resolved adding even more to how real this story feels. Beach read at its finest right here!
I had such a fun time reading this! I’m usually not the biggest fan on insta love, but I absolutely adore the way this one was written, while it was clear Mia and Aiden were enamored with each other from the first interaction it was still a slow burn. I loved how I was constantly on the edge of my seat wondering “Will it finally happen?” Every time things got hot and heavy between them.
This was grumpy x sunshine done in the best of ways. You’ll be kicking your legs and giggling during their banter, getting emotional when they’re opening up to each other about their issues, and feeling all sorts of butterflies when things spice up.
Shell Grove now owns a little piece of my heart :)
First off thank you to Netgalley for the ARK of “Reasons Why Not to Date Pubic Enemy CEO” I had such a fun time reading! This is definitely a guilty pleasure read for sure- quick easy and tons of fun!
I loved the chemistry between the leads: Mia and Aiden. The writing in the book was fantastic and I found myself smiling throughout.
Mia’s friend group was a breathe of fresh air sometimes I feel like romance novels only focus on the romantic relationship so it was nice to have a group of friends and perhaps some spin off books are in store for the future?
Overall this was an awesome summer read and I would highly recommend!
I loved the interactions between Mia and Aiden. I was laughing every time they talked, their use of sarcasm was fantastic. And their attraction to each other from the beginning, with the jealousy and the flirts, was quite amusing.
Mia has a wonderful relationship with her friends, and I loved their little group. I'm excited to the next books about them.
The scene with Aiden, Mia, Mia's grandmother and her partner was so emotional and cute. I didn't expect something like that, it was such a pleasant surprise.
And I was ready to punch Rainer, Mia's ex-husband. Throughout the book I didn't really care about him, because Mia wasn't giving him attention, so why should I? But at the end he was pissing me off, being so arrogant and demanding. Hated every piece that I had to read that he was in.
Overall, it was a really nice book. Quick and light, with lots of provocative scenes.
Devoured this books in two days! It was such a fun summer read. This book actually made me laugh out loud! It has the work place romance trope. My only complaint was that there were times I wished the relationship between the two characters was more developed. It felt like they went from 0-100 too quickly with not enough between them. I did enjoy that the main characters Mia is a divorcee and her outlook on love was still intact after what she went through. As a divorcee myself I related to her in that way. Overall I enjoyed this very much!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of Reasons Why Not to Date Public Enemy CEO by Melanie Munton. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Netgalley for providing an ARC to review.
This romance novel was a quick, enjoyable read that had a lot of chemistry and likable characters. I appreciated that Mia and Aiden were layered and didn't feel cookie cuttered. And while this book is not the deepest romance I have ever read, it was perfect for an easy beach read. It also has a bunch of spice added in for good measure, so if you want your OTP (One true pairing) to sizzle, you are covered. I give this book 3/5 stars.
FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS!
I finished this story within a day and it was such a pleasure! 'Reasons why not to date public enemy CEO is a steamy ,rom-com, grumpy/sunshine, enemies-to-lovers, office romance, beach read, small town story taking place in Shell Grove and filled with sexual tension.
I devoured this book completely through! It's a perfect summer read for when you're laying at the beach! I wish i could reread it again for the first time on my vacation to Spain in a few weeks!
Mia Sparks is the perfect girl next door and is always there for the ones close to her. She's working a small job but that changes when a certain CEO from Jacksonville arrives to the small Shell Grove. The Stigma around Aidan makes him restrain himself, but in the end, his desire for Mia is too strong, and they fall into a deep and exciting romance.
Perfect for fans of 'The Fine Print' and 'It happened one summer'!
This is a great kick-start to the new series of Shell Grove and I cannot wait to get back to Shell Grove for the next book 'Reasons not to date your Nemesis'!
Thank you @netgalley for this eARC in exchange of my honest review.
This was one I had picked at random and unfortunately, I was not a fan. The writing style was choppy and I just felt the story was lacking. This was one I had to skim through to be able to finish.
This gets 2⭐️‘s from me.
Y'all, I tried. I really tried to read this one. But the formatting downloaded to a kindle was WEIRD and made the book so frustrating and choppy and just hard to stay engaged with the book. I just couldn't do it.
❤️❤️❤️
💋💋
Not bad writing, amusing banter and entertaining characters.
I’ve read this lady before and enjoyed it so this was a given.
It wasn’t as good as the last one , but it did keep me entertained and I thought the characters were good, great chemistry between them.
I would read others by her without doubt.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
Overall, I personally did not enjoy this book just because of the formatting. It was such an issue for me that I had trouble with understanding the novel.
THINGS I LIKED:
I think that most of the time, the dialogue between Mia and other people is really good, like Mia and Indigo have great vibes.
The exposition was a lot smoother than romance books because it addresses Mia's feelings instead of just every single thing about her.
The descriptions and imagery were pretty good.
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE:
I was kind of confused as to why the book started with a "part 3" at the top.
The paragraph breaks could be sort of disjointing. I didn't understand why they were where they were. Also, some of them were really broken up.
I'm not a fan of insta-love which is why the romance was quite off putting for me. Aiden & Mia had good chemistry and the smut was quite a surprise but the pacing of the book was quite wierd. I couldn't understand where exactly a chapter ended tbh. While the plot was well constructed, it failed to keep my attention in some parts. Overall, I liked the side characters like Mia's friends and family and the small town setting was well depicted. But the ending was abrupt and I felt like there wasn't enough development in Mia & Aiden's relationship. The book had potential but it didn't live up to my expectations and ngl, it's easily forgettable.
