If you enjoy slow burn romance then this is read was perfect. Every time you think you’ve hit the peak of Aiden and Mia’s relationship, there’s more. “Reasons Why….” was more then a boss and employee relationship and I think that’s what made me really enjoy reading it. Aiden isn’t the usual bossy, materialistic CEO. He’s simply misunderstood (and maybe a slight over-thinker).
I would’ve loved more scenes with Aiden and Mia afterwards, but overall I loved the layout of this book of this book. The reasonings at the beginning of each chapter were my favorite part. I can definitely see me reading more about the Shell Grove group. Especially Olivia and Ben (fingers crossed that’s the next book)

Oh my God, this book! I believe this is a new series by Melanie Munton, and it just could not be better. Aiden and Mia are an amazing couple, both coming in with some issues (Aiden with more than Mia). This book and love story just could not have been any better. I have read several books by this author, and so. I know she is really good, but this book just blew me away it could not have been any more perfectly crafted. Enjoyed it 100% 5+ stars!
I can't say enough good things about this grumpy to sunshine book. Aiden is the CEO of a corporation that establishes luxury hotels. Shell Grove is no different, until he sees Mia.
Mia Sparks is the sunshine girl next door. She grew up in the small town of Shell Grove and she knows everyone and everyone knows her and her family. She works for public enemy number one and she quickly notices he is not what people think of him under all that facade. I loved their back and forth draw to each other their banter. Will Mia and Aiden truly give in to what they both want? I recommend this great summer read and wish that Shell Grove existed.
Overall, I liked this one. Mia was a cute main character and Aiden is definitely the romantic leader that people are looking for. If you like the possessive thing, he’s for you. They had good chemistry overall but the plot was generally lacking. Some of the naughty banter between them was painful to read also. I hated that.
It wasn’t really what I expected but I still enjoyed reading it.
Reasons Why Not to Date Public Enemy CEO is a fun 'grumpy & sunshine read for summer. Aiden and Mia, while being complete opposites had great chemistry; the back and forth draw to each other, while fighting their feelings made me want to scream 'just do it already!' I loved the characters in this book, Mia and Aiden both had redeeming qualities that had your rooting for their success, and the side characters added a lot of fun and interest to the story. This story is mixed with tension, longing, romance and a bit of steam. Grab a drink, put your feet in the sand and read Reasons Why Not to Date Public Enemy CEO!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I don't like giving low reviews, and lots of people liked this one. I just didn't like Aiden. I liked Mia, and her ideals and her love of family. Aiden just came across as (like the book said) a savage. He was a bit too much in the intimate scenes, like he wasn't being constant in his character. It was hard to overlook I'm sorry.
CEO Aiden Beaumont can’t stop thinking about Mia Sparks, one of his employees at the new five-star beach resort at Shell Grove. Yet Mia finds him confusing, with him flirting one moment and then grumpy the next. Despite everyone in Shell Grove hating Aiden, Mia soon finds himself attracted to him. As they try to navigate their way through a promising romance, her ex-husband returns to town. Soon Aiden is facing a fight to win Mia, and to convince everyone that he is not public enemy number one.
Whilst I enjoyed the character of Mia and the public image of Aiden, when the couple are together, I just found what was supposed to be ‘sexy’ dialogue between them, as quite off-putting. What was meant to be ‘sexy’ was just completely at odds, with how Aiden thinks about her in his ‘inner dialogue’. Overall, despite this aspect, I enjoyed Mia’s friends and family, who together, presented the support that comes from a small town, yet the dangers in everyone knowing all that goes on around them. An entertaining read overall.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I ABSOLUTELY adored this book! Shell Grove sounded so magical! Mia and Aiden's back and forth had me wanting more! The ending had me giddy and wanting to know more about what happens between them.
Gaaaaaaah!!!! Aiden and Mia's story is beyond words! This book will have you gripped from the beginning. A fast paced, lip biting, perilous romance that will keep you engrossed in the story from the beginning.
I just couldn't do it. I tried. The writing felt immature, and in the age of body positivity, the book depicted having curves in a very negative way. Maybe I'm not the target audience. Just a few things that crawled under my skin:
"Monster-ating" in place of menstruating.
"They just needed to bang like bunnies so they could see how fire they'd be together."
"She hadn't been overweight by any means, but she'd had some extra pounds here and there that had kept her in a one-piece bathing suit all throughout her youth. After going on a diet and workout regimen in college, she'd shed the slight chubbiness and slimmed up."
"While Mia, on the other hand, hadn't had the metabolism of a twelve-year-old even when she was twelve. It had taken her most of her youth to shed her baby fat, which had made her appear heavier than most of her friends. She hadn't really been chubby, but compared to Olivia and Maggie, she might as well have been the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man."
A new book by Melanie Munton is a book to grab without hesitation, every romance reader, every romcom or smut lover has to read her
.
.
The chemistry of her characters, that impossible attraction that holds glances and leaves you trying to imagine the gestures they're doing is something very exquisite and so well done
.
.
This is the first book in a new series in the small town called Shell Grove, a grumpy- sunshine between the ceo of the new hotel complex and the guest service employee
.
Aiden is the CEO of a corporation that establishes luxury hotels throughout the country, in small towns where large corporations are not well accepted. Shell Grove is no different, which is why he prefer to stay inside his office until something catches his eyes
.
Mia Sparks is the good girl next door, born and raised in Shell Grove, she knows everyone and everyone knows her family, although that does not prevent popular discomfort because she works for public enemy number one, but when she finally has her first meeting with the devil in person she realizes that it is only myth and fantasy, under that grumpy and closed man there is another totally different one. And the instant attraction she feels towards him is something that she needs to find reasons to not to act on
.
.
Slow burn, steamy, heartwarming with two beautiful and perfect characters for each other in a small town full of characters that I want to keep reading about, this book is a solid five stars for me

Thanks to Melanie Munton and Xpresso Book Tours for give me this beautiful book in exchange for my honest opinion I really enjoyed it
Reasons Why Not to Date Your Public Enemy CEO by Melanie Munton is a summer read to pick up for 2022. It has a great story and fun characters that you will fall in love with. This is a grumpy to sunshine trope that will have you smiling at the pair.
Though the smut that was in this book was a little unexpected for me and wish there was a smut warning label on books. As a result, it is a part of the book that I didn't care for. However the smut it is not my cup of tea in a contemporary romance, I still really enjoyed this book.
Reasons Why Not to Date Public Enemy CEO starts with Mia who is the guest relation employee of The Sapphire Hotel in Shell Grove, SC. She is cleaning the pool and accidentally throws a dead squirrel at none other than Aiden Beaumont who is the CEO of the hotel.
Although Aiden is completely off limits for Mia since he is her boss. She can’t help but understand him and feel totally drawn to him. While they get closer, Mia realizes that there is something underneath that grumpy exterior of Aiden's.
As previously stated that is not my cup of tea is the sexual tension between the two and you can tell in their dirty thinking of each other. The dirty talk. The smut scene. A little more than what I am used to when it comes to contemporary romances these days. If that is your jam, then certainly this is for you.
But other than that, there are genuine moments between the two as they share about their lives and who they are as people. Then there are those moments that have those connections on emotional levels that are cute.
In short, this is a fast and easy summer read that I can recommend for someone that is looking for a sweet and spicy read.
That was so good!!!
It's the kind of book that get you thinking about it every single second you're not reading it.
The characters are so cute and the tension !!!!!! I loved how it evolved, how it was not rushed but still not a slowburn it was really well done. This romance was really good I'll definitely recommend it to my friends.
This was a light fun romantic comedy! I loved Aiden and Mia, they had great banter which worked wonderfully as they were getting to know each other.
Aiden was definitely my favorite character after reading his POV as he fell for Mia in each of their interactions. Mia was hilarious and her personality with her willingness to help others made the story fun as Aiden figured out how to stop that.
Aiden and Mia had a ton of chemistry and while this book doesn't have a ton of steamy scenes, the ones included are great!
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This rom-com was delicious! I wasn’t able to put it down and probably read it in 5 hours. It was funny, light and spicy. Both Mia and Aiden are likeable characters although complete opossites. When it comes to the tropes included, this book really created the perfect mix of small town, work romance with the boss, grumpy meets sunshine.
What’s it about?
Aiden Beaumont is the CEO who brought a five star beach resort to a small town. He is a grumpy workaholic and his life is focused on work and achieving his goals. Mia Sparks works for Aiden at the resort. She is the personification of a honey jar. So sweet she is sometimes taken advantage of, especially by her coworkers.
Mia left her ex three years ago because he was too career-driven. She is the happiest when she’s in the small town she grew up in, surrounded by her family and friends and all the familiar places that bring her comfort.
The fact that Aiden is hated by the town folk doesn't help their odds.
The romance developed nicely and it wasn't an excruciatingly slow burn, but they took the right amount of time.
The spicy scenes were nice, there were multiple scenes that increased in intensity as the plot moved along and their relationship evolved. The dialogue during those scenes seemed a tad unrealistic at times but still quite enjoyable.
I really liked the plot, the way the characters felt so realistic and the fact that they had.a shared experience of growing up poor.
i surprisingly enjoyed this one a lot more than expected as it's definitely not your typical grumpy x sunshine dynamic trope and was glad to see characters in this fast paced romcom having much more dimension to them! mia sparks, a young hardworking divorcée years separated from her high school sweetheart, is the sweet girl everyone in shell grove knows and can rely on. she's now a guest relations manager at The Sapphire, a brand-new resort hotel that all the small townspeople have been accepting in the change in town. aiden beaumont, the ceo of the resort chain, is not the evil corporate man that they've all painted to be in the minds. he's absolutely obsessed with mia at their first awkward meeting as he sees her doing duties below her position and sees her growth potential. mia's not exactly a people pleaser type, more like making people happy is what fulfills her in life and that comes into play when she pitches aiden a successful idea of having the hotel have a romantic night/getaway package (discount for the people of shell cove for a short amount of time to help ease their perspective on the resort) and mia is in her element managing those as she is able to curate it to couple's wants.
the romance itself was a bit quick paced whirlwind for me personally, but i still liked that we got to see them connect emotionally at parts as we see them talk about both of their economic hardships growing up but also differences with mia in a loving household versus aiden with an emotionally detached single dad. i wish we didn't have to see mia's ex, rainer try to come back into her life but i understand it was naturally for the sake of a conflict plot device. there's definitely a lot more sexual tension and eventual smut that takes majority of the story rather than plot, nevertheless i still had fun with the small town setting and characters themselves particularly mia's friend group. mia's best friend and cousin, maggie with her penchant for dangerous situations then maggie's best friend finn who she has an interesting dynamic with and others as its intriguing to see all of them who grew up together in shell cove still, different jobs scattered around town. all things considered, i'm actually looking forward to seeing more of shell cove in mia's friends stories with olivia and ben's next, and hopefully maggie and finn's story as well!
I enjoyed this fun, great story! It had me entertained throughout the story! Really enjoyed the story and the plot. Highly recommend!
When Aiden Beaumont moves his newest resort into the small town of Shell Grove, South Carolina, everyone instantly hates the new CEO. Including Mia Sparks, the town sweetheart who thinks he is way too stuck up, not that she would say that to her new boss. But over time, Aiden tries to convince Mia, and the rest of Shell Grove, that he is not public enemy CEO. This book read like a spicy hallmark movie, and not necessarily in a good way. It was incredibly predictable but was also very sweet. I am not a big fan of the instant love trope, so I struggled to connect with the characters and wasn't very on board with their romance. I enjoyed the read, but I am not sure I would pick up another of these books anytime soon.
Thank you to Netgalley and Melanie Munton for an ARC in exchange for my honest review. While I personally don't think this book is for me, it is still a fun romance that fans of the instant love trope would really like.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5/5
🌶 1/5
Aiden Beaumont is seen (by the small beach town of Shell Groves) as the Evil Emperor. By buying land and expanding his company within this small town, this handsome CEO had some residents despising him and other’s enjoying the business his company brought to their little shops. Mia, being the Shell Grove’s sweetheart, only radiated positivity and wanted her town to see what great opportunities Aiden’s company can bring to them, even though she wanted to see if her grumpy boss had more facial expressions to offer besides scowling. But after a while, even his frowning, lit her up like fireworks, making Mia fall for him even though she had plenty of reasons not to.
Tropes: Grumpy/Sunshine
There were so many things I enjoyed about this book! The banter between Aiden & Mia. The realistic way their relationship played out.
The relationship Mia and Maggie have, was so freakin amazing & wholesome 🥺! I mean that scene that mentions them watching Bridgerton together?! That’s exactly how I spend my evening, talking about Anthony & Kate with my bestie!
all the friendships mentioned in the book, really painted the story of a small town with an amazing group of close knit friends. I loved that and I loved wanting to guess who the next book couples are going to be in this series.
There were some scenes in where I was like “really, Aiden?! Mia should definitely slap you for that!”
& some where I was like 🥵 “my, my Mr. Beaumont” (in a southern accent while clutching my pearls, of course)
I’m not really into the Insta-love trope but the way it was written didn’t make it seem like it was insta love for me. Yes they both outright thought the other was attractive but didn’t right away express those feelings to each other and that’s what I liked about it.
Literally only reason why it’s not a 5 ⭐️ for me is because there was no epilogue. Don’t get me wrong, the ending was great. I’m just a sucker for an epilogue that’s YEARS into their future together. But maybe we’ll get glimpses of them over the next books in this series.
I already can’t wait!
“I want Solomon Burke in the kitchen with you, honey.” He rasped softly

I read this on the way back from the beach and it fit the vibes perfectly! Aiden and Mia give off perfect grumpy x sunshine energy. The only reason it’s not a 5 star read is because it’s in 3rd person. I can never focus on a book when it’s in that perspective.
