Y’all this book was so cute. I laughed from the first chapter on and i was immersed into this Witchingdom that was just so fun and magical.

Tilda is the only non magical person in her very magical family. Her life isn’t the greatest, but then it goes straight to hell when she accidentally makes her sister’s spell glitch and curses her whole family. And the only person who can help her non-magical self break the spell? You guessed it. Gil the super hot jerk. She has inexplicable feelings for.

Love that journey for her.

I have been loving cute spicy romances that just make me smile lately and this one really just made me happy.

It's a DNF and I'm so sorry. But the voice of the character is just impossible to get passed. I'm not going to post my review on GoodReads or Instagram and am only doing it here.

I was immediately attracted to the cover, title, and the whimsical premise. While I think it had great potential, it unfortunately did not meet the mark in my opinion.

The writing style felt very stream-of-conscious which is a hit or miss with me, and in this case it was a miss. It felt like it was trying very hard to be witty and relatable.

Additionally, I did not like the main characters. Tilda was portrayed incredibly immature for being a 28 year old. The connection between Tilda and Gil didn't feel that strong and there was apparently a history between them but that was never really explained? It felt more like insta-attraction but trying to ignore it rather than a true enemies-to-lovers.

Finally, the plot was all over the place. I couldn't keep track of what was going on and the characters that were being introduced.

Thank you Berkley Publishing Group, Valentine PR, and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was cute but the writing style was different than anything I’m used to reading. It was a little difficult to get into to be honest but it was still a cute concept and story. This story felt as if it was jumping from first person to third person a lot.

Witcha Gonna Do is a very cute rom-com with a niche sense of humour. I'll admit the first couple of pages didn't really hit with me (the reader is treated as an audience, in a sense); however, as the book progressed, I could see how the humour and general craziness related to the story and characters being portrayed.

The storyline itself was fairly easygoing, and I think anyone who enjoys light-hearted, cozy witch-vibes will like this book. The characters were fun with very loud personalities which suited the relationships they had with each other (and other side characters).

The general consensus from other reviewers seems very hit-or-miss, but I'm keen to see how the series progresses and whether the world-building develops further. Overall, I think this was an interesting story and a cute read that could easily be finished over a weekend!

As a side note, I just want to point out how absolutely gorgeous I think the cover is. I want to frame it and hang it on my wall.

God bless Avery Flynn because she can always be counted on for laughs and high jinx!

Tilda’s an outré, a witch without any powers so she settles into her role as the social media/PR person for her family, the Sherwoods, the most powerful family in witchingdom. Gil’s a double-agent trying to get close to Tilda because there’s no way she doesn’t have any magical abilities, and the Sherwoods have to be hiding something. Gil’s motive for his spying is to save his family from being stuck in witchingdom limbo. To get close to Tilda, he arranges for them to be set up repeatedly on multiple blind dates when the last one gets a bit too harried. Later, when a spell goes terribly awry at the Sherwood household, Gil is one of the only people she can turn to for help. To reverse the spell they have to steal a very important book from another powerful family. It’s risky and in the process Tilda learns more about herself than she was led to believe.

I enjoyed this. Like I said, Flynn has a way with humor, especially with slightly awkward FMCs who have plenty of grit despite the occasional mishap. There’s so much sexual tension between Gil and Tilda - it’s fun as well as spicy! I enjoyed that they had to pull off a major heist together which could go sideways at any time. It was surprisingly action-adventure,too.

Only thing missing for me: it felt like there were details about withcingdom that were mentioned that weren’t delved into further. I’m hoping we get more insight in the next book. If you’re a fan of Avery Flynn’s or are into witchy rom-coms, you’ll enjoy this!

Everything about the description of this books sounded great. It was a surprise that half way through I was struggling to fully understand what was happening in the story. I liked both Tilda and Gil and enjoyed their chemistry. The story was told a dual POV which was amazing. I think what threw me was the world building is confusing. There was a Council, and a rebellion, and the Sherwood’s are the most powerful family, and Gil has duil Magic which is illegal(?) and Tilda is a outre with no magic (but she is actually really powerful). I very much liked the romance, and Tilda’s friends. I think if the story had been streamlined without Gil’s parents being held as collateral, a strange rebellion going on, and talk of double agents, I would have loved the book. The authors writing style is funny and light completely entertaining.

Thank you, NetGalley and Berkley romance for the arc. This is my honest review.

Do you like paranormal rom-coms? Especially ones with extra spice, humor, and excellent world-building? Then this is your read.

You won’t be able to put down this spicy, matchmaking, dual-POV enemies-to-lovers story that’s as witchy as it is hilarious and heartfelt.

Tilda doesn’t have magical powers, but she comes from a really powerful family. She has the best attitude, but one thing that irritates her is that she keeps getting set up with Gil, her arch nemesis.

Gil has an agenda of his own, and as we learn a little about the politics of this world, we see that Gil is not exactly a golden retriever bf.

Still, Gil and Tilda end up working together to save both her family and his. They irritate each other, they have history, and one thing I love is how comfortable they are with each other.

Maybe there was something to this matchmaking after all…

Easy five star-worthy. Trust me- this is a book that belongs on your Christmas lists! It’s literally on mine. I love it so much that I need a physical copy!

HUGE thank you to Valentine PR and Berkley Romance for an arc of this book and for including me in their tour!

Such a cute, exciting, and oh my me, swoony new rom-com from Ms. Flynn.

This is the first story in what is gonna be a fun series!

Welcome to Witchingdom, where the shifters aren't what you expect, and the witches rule!

This is Tilda and Gil's story.

Tilda is the odd witch out...or so she thinks. She struggles with fitting in with her family, which happens to be the most powerful family in town. I love her quirks, and her inner dialogue is outstandingly funny!

Gil is stuck between a rock and a hard place; playing both sides and trying hard not to fall for Tilda is a battle he fights on the daily.

I loved all the secondary characters and can't wait to see and read the future books in this series to see what happens!

Smexy, swoons and laughs are the perfect spell in this new story!

Tilda is part of the great Sherwood clan, the most powerful magical family in Witchingdom. Follow along with her wacky (mis)adventures with her handsome nemesis witch, Gil, on her path to love and self-discovery. Does being an outré (someone born without any magic to a magical family) make her the least valuable or the most valuable member of her very large family? You’ll have to read to find out!

The humor, action-filled plot, and contemporary nature of this story (like references to WitchyGram (Instagram)) albeit the fact it is a fantasy/paranormal romance made the story very fun to read. Tilda is my sassy spirit animal and her and Gil’s angsty relationship and banter is everything! I just wish this title was released closer to the Halloween season since I’m itching to read christmas holiday books right now but I make room for good books all year long baby!!!

4/5 ⭐️

What a delightful, light witchy read! Spectacular world building done effortlessly.
This book uses the enemies to lovers trope meshed with then turn frenemy.

The characters were fun with Tilda thinking herself a null (of course we know as in all these stories that’s not going to remain the case) keeps getting “matched” with Gil. Course it’s not as random as we think. Then things get waaay more complicated when Tilda accidentally curses her family and needs Gil’s help to fix it.

There’s some great chemistry between the characters and fun secondary characters I’m sure will pop up in future reads. Thoroughly entertaining, easy read.

Complimentary copy provided through NetGalley.

This book was absolute magic! It’s hilarious and awkward and deliciously dirty and so much fun!

“I, however, am very imprudent, turned on, and suckered completely by the fact that he brought me an apology muffin. You gotta watch out for the ones who come bearing pastry.”

This was truly a delightful read. Avery Flynn has created such an incredible world and I can’t wait for the next book!

What do you get with an unlucky witch who thinks she was born without magic from the most powerful witch family and a con artist witch who plays both sides to get what he wants? A hot and spicy enemies to lovers romance with a lot of unexpected fun magic! This was such a fun witchy book with a lot of action as they also work together to against an evil counsel to save her family while at the same time fighting their magnetic and unexpected attraction. This is a great read if you love witches, romance and are not afraid of steamy witchy romance!

I loved reading Avery Flynn's Witcha Gonna Do? I thought it was a great romantic comedy with some supernatural witchy vibes. And Avery did what every good author does when writing in a new series, she made me want to read the books about the female lead, Tilda's sisters and now I can't wait to read the next books.
I found that as this was the first book in the series Avery had to do a lot of world building to explain how this magical version of the world works. Personally I thought there were times where there could have been a little bit more explanation, like have witches and magical creatures always been known about or did they once hide in the shadows. I also wanted more information about the Council and the Resistance, and maybe that will come with the future books. At the same time there were points in the world building that things were kinda beaten to death. Like we didn't have to hear that many times that the Sherwoods are one of the most powerful witch families.
My favorite part of the was the bickering between Tilda and Gil. I really enjoy reading enemies to lovers romances and I loved the dynamics of their romance. From the beginning you could tell that they liked each other but Tilda couldn't stand Gil because he always was acting strange and like he was so full of himself. And for Gil he couldn't start anything being a double agent and with his main goal in life to save his parents from witchy jail/purgatory. You could immediately tell they had such great chemistry, and I loved seeing how they ended up together despite everything going on in their lives.

Who would’ve thought I’d be reading a witchy book in December? I just couldn’t resist the cute cover. Those cartoon romcoms always draw me in.

I liked this one! It was cute and had lots of spice. Classic enemies to lovers with a witchy twist. It was also a fast read, which is always a good thing!

I loved Tilda, the female MC. She had a lot of spunk and confidence, even though she’s the only one out of her entire powerful witch family that doesn’t have any powers. I also really enjoyed the author’s writing style and all of the humour and banter that was there.

I did feel that a few things were missing for me. I felt that I couldn’t connect that well with the characters, so when Tilda and Gil started to fall in love, I didn’t feel that drawn into the whole thing. I also felt that I needed more world building. There are a lot of magical elements involved, and I kept having to go back and reread because I felt like all the world info was just sort of dumped in there.

Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group for my gifted copy. This is posted on my Goodreads and my Bookstagram account.

When I read the title I automatically thought Halloween, but this book was whimsical, magical, and a whole lot of fantasy. Tilda is a lovable character that keeps getting herself in funny situations. Gil is a brick wall, due to childhood. He doesn't want to let anyone in, but Tilda slowly lowers that wall and makes everyone fall in love with her.

Tilda is a witch in her family that does not have powers. Embarrassing things happen to her all the time. If she had powers she would be able to stop it. Her family has always tried to make her feel wanted. She's grown up and she is ok with not having powers.

That is until Gil comes along. She continuously is set upon dates with him through her godmother, the matchmaker. Little does she know it's intentional. They finally work together when she somehow messes up her sister’s spell. With the help of her friends and Gil, they set off on a journey to save her family and find out a secret that will change her life.

This story was so cute and had you reading until late into the night. I was disappointed when it was over. Avery Flynn had me hooked!! The smell of cinnamon rolls will make me forever remember this book. I’m super excited that this is the first book in the series! I cannot wait for the next book to come out!

Ready for something great to happen in her life, Tilda Sherwood is eager for her blind date to arrive. However, when Gil Connolly shows up as her date after the two have already been matched twice before, Tilda is very annoyed. She is the only non-magical member in her very well respected witch family, and Gil is egotistical and too hot for his own good. But when a spell goes wrong and Tilda’s whole family is cursed, Gil seems eager to help her. Now if only the two could focus on the task at hand without getting distracted by each other….

This was a very cute, witchy, rom-com with a heist! The writing seemed slightly immature at first, at least in Tilda’s chapters (this is a dual POV book), but I got used to Tilda’s bubbly personality that came through in her chapters. The whole story was very lusty with some excellent spice, but also a great deal of magical side characters and plot lines that required a little more attention than the pure romance pieces. A fun story, and a great promise for more books featuring Tilda’s sisters!

Thank you to NetGalley, Valentine PR, Berkley Publishing Group, and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book!

I enjoyed this book, but there were some aspects of the world building and non-romance plot that didn’t really work for me.

The world building felt somewhat incomplete and didn’t totally make sense. The world that we’re shown throughout the book was really wonderful and fun, but other aspects of the world that were explained but never shown didn’t seem to match up or get explained enough to really make sense. For me, this boiled down to the Council and their existence in this world. I think they were kind of unnecessary and I would have enjoyed the book more without them.

There was also enough going on in this book without the Council. If anything, having them as part of the book took time away from the aspects of the story that I really enjoyed. I had a lot of fun with the rest of the plot, and I think this story easily could have happened without needing the Council to exist. From the epilogue, it does seem that they partially exists to tie together plots from a whole series of books centred around these characters, which would partially explain this choice, but I don’t need an overarching plot in a series of connected romance novels. I’ll come back and read the next one just because I loved the characters in the first one and it’s a return to the world.

And I did really enjoy the characters in this one. Tilda is a magicless witch in a world where having magic is pretty much expected, especially in her family of super powerful witches. Although at times she is disappointed by her lack of magic and wants to know what it would feel like to be able to do magic, she is still an independent and capable character with her own skills and strengths. Gil, however, does have magic and I loved the part it played in their relationship. The side characters were also great additions to the story, and Griselda especially was wonderfully quirky.

I also loved how much magic there was involved in the story, because nothing is more disappointing than reading a witchy romance where nothing witchy happens.

Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing, and Valentine PR for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

I love Avery's writing, so it was really exciting to get to read another book by her that was quite different from the other books I have read by her. I am used to reading her contemporary romances, but they are "normal" - no magic involved. This one is contemporary but all the magic! It is a lot of fun, but it did take me a bit longer than normal to get into. It does have Avery's signature snark, I just didn't seem to connect with the characters quite as closely as I did some of her other books. That being said, It looks like it is the beginning of a series possibly, so that is exciting because there were definitely questions that I had at the end of the book that I wanted answered. I will for sure pick up the next book so that I can find out what happens next, because I am still intrigued by the chaos created by the magic of this book, but know that if you have read some of Avery's other contemporary books the writing style did feel a little different (at least to me). Not bad, just different. Overall, enjoyable book, but I probably won't reread it, except for maybe when the next one comes out.

I hate that I'm rating a Avery Flynn book so low since I've really liked her in the past but this book just wasn't for me. In all honesty if it wasn't an ARC I wouldn't have made it through the first chapter. I don't DNF books but if I'm hating something so hard in the first chapter or two I'm not going to continue and I just think of it as reading a sample.

This book started off with the heroine talking to the readers and it was so odd. It took me by surprise - not in a good way - and had me pausing and putting the book down. It luckily didn't do that much more throughout the book but it certainly wasn't a great way to start off. Even without the whole breaking the fourth wall the writing seemed very juvenile and for a paranormal book there wasn't enough world building. It actually got confusing at times with the mentions of The Council and The Resistance since they were just thrown out there with little to no explanation on who exactly they were and why they were such a good or bad thing.

As for the romance, it didn't help this book at all because it felt pretty nonexistent. I think the entire span of the book was no more than a week and yet the heroine and hero were in love in that time? Yeah, not buying it. Especially since they started off as "enemies." Though, that wasn't any more believable since there wasn't a clear reason they didn't like each other and they quickly changed their minds about their hate.

Overall, I can see where this book could be a fun and easy read but for me it just didn't work. I'll still happily read whatever Ms. Flynn comes out with next, but nothing more from this series.
