JOLLOF OF RICE is a collection of ten stories, combined to tell the generational drama about families that we make. Four friends at boarding school form a friendship that shapes their lives, spanning over a course of years.

I enjoyed the audiobook, and really appreciated the narrator choice.

As a lover of full circle moments, the interlocking stories in this book made my heart happy. This 10 story collection was engaging and emotional. There were moments where I laughed but also moments were I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. I truly thinks this speaks very well to the amazing storytelling. I listed to this book on audio and I think the narrators did amazing job of bringing the stories to life. I think anyone can enjoy this book. It has some common central themes like grief, reflection, love and belonging.

If I had to pick a favorite story, I would pick the fifth story. I think it really embodies all of those themes especially how grief can affect us.

A wonderful generational drama about the families we make for ourselves. Four friends at boarding school form an unbreakable bond that shape the paths of each of their lives. Spanning years and continents, this story illuminates how we all react individually to an shared event, consequences shaped by our own experiences and interpretations.

One of my favorite parts of this book came at the very end. The projections for how health care will develop if it follows its current course was devastating. Reminiscent of The Subprimes by Karl Taro Greenfeld, the speculative aspects of this story will stay with me.
