I had to DNF this one because the poor editing of this advanced readers copy made it very difficult to read. I was distracted by the lack of proofreading which kept taking me out of the story. The premise is a good one and I was enjoying the characters but I could not get past the challenges in trying to read it.

Intergalactic Exterminators, Inc is a swashbuckling SF adventure story with an ensemble cast of likeable oddballs and misfits imagined by Ash Bishop. Released 6th Sept 2022 by CamCat Books, it's 416 pages and is available in hardcover, paperback, audio, and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately.

This is a sort of hapless-Earth-guy-gets-dragged-into-adventure with bug-hunting aspects for good measure. It's not at all derivative, but fans of testosterone fueled alien SF (a la Correia, Eric Flint, John Scalzi, and the other boys in the band) will find a lot to love here. Like much of the subgenre, it's rollicking, full of rapidly developing violence and mayhem and the plot is moved along from action scene to action scene with minimum filler.

I received a very early unedited copy which was admittedly choppy and difficult to parse in some places, but the editorial notes provided for review said that the ARCs were pre-edit. Despite the difficulties, it's a story with clearly good bones and the action scenes are well described and choreographed.

Four stars. Recommended for fans of action adventure SF. I really enjoyed it. Recommended for fans of adventure SF doorstop books (the paperback has over 600 pages).

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

In Short- A fun, action packed adventure with great characters full of chemistry and a story full of twists and turns you’ll not see coming. Once started you wont be able to stop.

Intergalactic exterminators INC is not my normal book but I was drawn in by its bright, fun cover and interesting blurb, I’m so glad I gave this a go as its a great read.

This story is fun and full of surprises with interesting, enthralling characters that are fully 3D with great, natural chemistry between them. I felt this story had a very similar vibe to the hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy with its funny robots, portals, murdering insects and interesting aliens. If you like Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett, I definitely give Ash Bishop a go.

This is an awesome space based page turner and once you start you wont be able to put this escapade down.

The Intergalactic Exterminators, INC is a sci-fi adventure. I have read an ARC and while the story was entertaining there are some major edits that need to be completed so I hope that by the time it is published it will be a good read. Russ is full of wanderlust and is constantly moving from place to place. When he finds out his grandpop has died he headed to Wyoming for the funeral he finds some very interesting things in his grandfathers collection. One of those things attracted an alien cat like creature that comes after Russ. Enter the Intergalactic Exterminators, INC hunters of the universe that set things right. Russ is a crack shot with a weapon and after helping dispatch the alien the Exterminators want Russ for their team even if he isn't sure he wants to join. Nina is an electric engineering student and resident genius and when Russ brings the piece from the collect for her to analyze she insets herself into the adventure to try to find a way to save her dying father. The story is interesting and after a good edit I think sci-fi fans will enjoy this book.

I was drawn to the preview of this book, but from the beginning I was lost and had trouble getting into the story

This ARC is too poorly edited to consider reading. I got through only a few pages. Shotguns become rifles. Vests slip off bodies lying supine. Person acting as bait doesn't run. A Filipina's surname is Vietnamese for no stated reason. Really stupid stuff.
