Okay, I’m officially requesting that this series becomes 10+ strong series of books, because I could honestly read them forever. I loved Summer Secrets at Bletchley Park and now a Winter at Bletchley has just made a fantastic addition to what has been a fantastic series so far.
I love that the author has seriously done her research on this and what life was like working for BP. It really shed some light on the code breaking and the different jobs, departments and ‘huts’ and everything that went on. It’s really sparked an interest in me into these kind of books and now I just want to read and learn more! I seriously loved it. Can we get more books on the different types of jobs and work the girls did at Bletchley? My appetite has been well and truly wetted.
This one follows Rose, or Rosemary and her path to Bletchley. Which has not been smooth I can tell you that! There was so much to her character and I adored her and her story. I was honestly on the edge of my seat (stress anxiety eating biscuits as I read the story unfold, wanting desperately for everything to have a happy ending for her!).
I read the first book right before this one but it honestly wasn’t needed. If you haven’t read the first one, worry not! This one works as a standalone in its own right and you could even read this one and then the first (I certainly recommend reading them both, they’re great!) but you needn’t have read the first to enjoy this one to the full.
Great story. Great characters. Wonderfully written and oozing wartime spirit. Couldn’t ask for more!
Another excellent read by Molly Green. I love to read about heat happened at Bletchley Park during the war and this didn't disappoint. Full of love and friendship, a little confusion and mystery and you have a great book.
Loved loved this book second in the series.Molly Green writes wonderful characters she drew me right into the story keeping me enjoying every page from beginning to end.#netgalley #avonbooksuk.
The second book in the Bletchley Park Girls series and it's a winner. I read the first but you absolutely do not have to in order to enjoy this one as a standalone. The setting is wonderful and I like that this story had a bit more meat to it. There is a bit of drama and the characters are complex. However, we get our happily ever after. I hope there will be more books in this series.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book!
I was hooked from the beginning of this story. Following Rosie's story was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. I loved the twists and turns. It really opens your eyes to what the people at Bletchley Park endured during their employment there. There were some really lovely characters who were so helpful and supportive of each other. This was a truly uplifting read.
Everything you’ve come to expect from a Molly Green novel. A little predictable, but still satisfying. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the sneak peek.
Following hard on the heels of Summer Secrets at Bletchley Park, we have Molly Green's latest; A Winter Wedding at Bletchley Park. It is a slightly different proposition to the former novel and I would say it has a stronger romance aspect. Hard to think in this day and age, what lengths people went to hide an out of wedlock pregnancy but strangely enough, this novel caused me to think that I've heard something similar before but many decades ago. Anyway, it seemed a very practical solution for the times when this novel was set, albeit very harsh for the mother. Molly Green likes to weave historical aspects in to her novels and I would have liked a little more of it. Although the discussion between Rose and Hugo about how disseminated intelligence was collated, indexed and forwarded by teleprinter was so opposite to the 'need to know' mantra of Bletchley Park, that it stood out like a sore thumb. As a novel with an excellent tear jerker romance at its core I would have to give it five stars but because of its Bletchley Park aspect, I will deduct one star for insufficient historical and technical detail.
Additionally, I have never heard of plaice served with horseradish sauce but maybe it was a war time favourite, I prefer tartare.
Firstly thank you Netgalley for this ARC
Wow another brilliant book in this series I love the author love their books and can't wait to read more
I enjoy books set around BP and learning more about the amazing work that was undertaken there. This title once again helped me learn something new both about BP and some other true historical facts (Barbara Cartland being another!)
I sadly found the main character a bit wishy washy in parts and wanted her to be more assertive. The storyline was sometimes easy to see where it would go but it was nice easy reading though on one of the hottest weekends of the year and finished in a day.
This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review…family secrets and deception…love and marriage…children…siblings…family dynamics…interfering…the war…historical fiction…this author has written a story that reads like true life…only the names are changed…although the story moves slowly at times, it comes to a satisfying ending…I liked this book…
