A fantastic, heartwarming festive read, based in the Lake District, it had beautifully described locations and an interesting storyline.
I really enjoyed the characters, the mountain rescue team, the community who all look after each other and Jake the dog . In fact if I could give it more than five stars I would !
Highly, highly recommended , perfect for holiday/ me time reading
Thank you to Netgalley, Avon Books and Phillipa Ashley for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
Definitely not a bad book, not the best Christmas themed story either, unfortunately. There was nothing offensive about it, and that's the highest praise i can give.
A wonderful enchanting read by Phillipa Ashley, Krystle has always dreamt of a wonderful family Christmas, cue fun and romance set in the Lake District. I found the book both heart-warming and festive and you cannot help but be drawn into the lives of the characters.
A perfect festive read, I read it over a weekend and did not want it to end. I highly recommend this book.
A brilliant book
A real heartwarming story
A book you just want to curl up with and get lost in
Phillips never disappoints
Thanks NetGalley
Now, everyone knows I adore Ms Ashley's books so, I'm going to forgive her use of a main character who stars off hating Christmas. Full of romance, confusion and yes, danger, you've got to read this book. I know it's on my list to reread this coming Christmas!
Having read all of Phillipa Ashley's previous books, I was super eager to read this latest offering and I was not disappointed! It has all of the trademark elements of Phillipa's fabulous writing: uplifting and heartwarming storylines, authentic characters, humour, relationships and more. It is another marvellous book that I'd highly recommend.
Loved this book, it shows that true love finds a way. Can't wait to read more by Phillipa in the future x
When Christmas loving Krystle plans the perfect holiday in the lakes things start to go wrong and when she meets Christmas hating Max it seems unlikely there could be a happy ending.
This book delivers just what is required from a Christmas novel - a beautiful setting, sparkles and plenty of ‘will they, won’t they’ to keep us guessing.
The characters all have a detailed difficult back story and together with the book covering real issues for the area in the form of the activities of the mountain rescue team, this provides enough realism to make it more than a Christmas fairytale.
The Christmas Holiday by Phillipa Ashley was a great festive, feel good read. An easy to read book, full of Christmas cheer. Another great book by Phillipa.
Very much enjoyed this year's Christmas gift from Phillipa Ashley. I look forward to a new Christmas cosy cuddle-up book every year.
Krystle didn't have the easiest start in life but she once saw her perfect ideal of a family home in the Lake District decorated for Christmas. This inspired her to develop a Christmas themed business in later life. When she saw the house of her inspiration was available to rent for Christmas, she just had to book it with a plan to spend the perfect Christmas there with her boyfriend and give them a break from their busy lives,....what could possibly go wrong? A fantastic, heartwarming read.
A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.
A great Christmas story heartwarming.
Once picked up you cannot put down until read.
Phillipa has a great way of involving you in the story. I feel that I know her characters personally, I get a bit down when the story ends.
Thank you
Really good heartwarming story and set in the heart of the Lake District so easy to get into with upset and romance and of course a happy ending for all
My review:⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Christmas Holiday by Phillipa Ashley is a seasonal romance set in the Lake District.
I really enjoyed this story. I found it to be cosy, sweet and evocative! The descriptions of the Lake District and the community this is set in was great!
All in all, this is a great Christmas read, and one I recommend!
I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review, so my thanks to NetGalley and to Avon Books.
What a lovely story! Krys tries to have the magical Christmas she always dreamed of as a child, but her boyfriend is not so keen. When disaster strikes on the first day, moody and ride Max comes to their rescue. A really great read about friendship, loss, community and learning to live again. I loved this book from start to finish.
A sheer delight of a book - how you just want to be part of the story & characters & of course the perfect location!
A lovely Christmas romance: get cosy by a perfect log fire, a glass of mulled wine or a cup of hot chocolate and devour this latest from Phillipa Ashley. You will thank me!
Oh, to get snowed in at such a beautiful location!
Set in the Lake District, around Christmas time, this is a gorgeous winter read. The setting is important in the story, both for the work that the community does to help any walkers in the area, but also because of its effect on Krystle in her broken childhood. It is symbolic of a hopeful future to her. Although there are lots of festive touches in the story, partly because of Krystle's job, there are some serious issues around neglect and grief after loss. The community is very important in healing a few broken souls. Thoroughly recommended
