Quick read, enjoyable, likable characters.
"He can’t date, she doesn’t date…but what happens when they fall in love?"
Lily Galbraith is the Love Doctor, solving listener's love problems with humor and warmth on her weekly podcast, but her own approach to romance is to pretty much avoid it and stick to no-commitment hookups. Jay Hooper is a serial monogamist, moving from relationship to relationship without a pause in between to breathe and assess what went wrong, so he's promised his beloved little sister that he'll give dating a break for six months... enter the meet-cute with love-avoidant Lily. Can these two find their way out of their own problems and be together?
This was an enjoyable read mostly because of all the love among the supporting characters, but it dragged in places because of all the therapy-talk. I love that contemporary romances are addressing these issues, but the pacing needed to be a bit quicker to hold my interest.
Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for the opportunity to read this book!

This book was really enjoyable, however it sometimes felt too much like a therapy. I usually like when books focus not solely on romance but also on mental health of the characters, however here it was really too much. Nevertheless I really liked this story and I loved main characters. It was a good romance book.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun read that I managed to fly through really quickly. I loved the characters and the build up and I look forward to reading more from this author

The Love Experiment by Kitty Wilson is a lovely rom-com that will appeal to fans of Tessa Bailey or Ali Hazelwood. The story revolves around Lily, who runs the Love Doctor podcast, where she solves other people's love dilemmas. One day, while in the sauna, she meets the handsome Jay. It turns out that they need to work together. Will sparks fly between the opposites? Or will this fling end in heartbreak?
Here is a humorous excerpt from Chapter 1, which is from Lily's point of view:
"I listen to my sign-off on the final version of this week’s Love Doctor podcast. The subject matter is a little close to home but I’m done, I click upload and tap through to make sure all has gone smoothly before I close the lid of my laptop. As I do so I cast around the box room cum wardrobe where I record each week. This room is perfect with clothes on racks along each wall which absorb the sound and provide me with a little podcast-making cocoon, with just enough room for my teeny table.
Now I’m finished, I give a quick but firm nod to the polystyrene heads that adorn high shelves. I try not to be intimidated by them. Obviously, I’m aware they are inanimate objects and that we don’t live in a Toy Story kind of world where these things come to life, but still, I don’t trust them, not one iota."
Overall, The Love Experiment is a rom-com that is told from dual 1st person POVs. One highlight of this book is the original premise. I thought it was so original to have a "Doctor" as the female protagonist. I also loved the idea that she is an expert at handling other people's love problems. I did take off 1 star, because I had some issues with the tone of the book. A scene filled with sexual tension is followed by a scene where the female lead talks about being assaulted in school. At times, it felt darker than a typical lighthearted rom-com should. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, you can check out this book when it comes out in July!
I enjoyed this book enough. However I felt it was a little too much like therapy for me to an extent. I enjoyed the love story and the focus on mental health, but I didn't really want therapy.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
Did I like this book fine? Yes. But I had a hard time finishing it because it felt a little too therapy-y for me. I do appreciate this new generation of romance novels’ renewed focus on mental health and more complex issues and topics, but this book felt a bit too much. Pages were spent describing things that sound straight from a therapy session (which makes sense because the main character was a psychologist). Book was good, just not necessarily for me.
This was such a cute and fun read! The characters are all so charming and have so much love for each other. Their friendships and relationships were sweet and relatable. I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t wait to turn the page and find out what was going to happen next!
Look for this book July 15, 2022!

Dr Lily Galbraith solves her city’s love problems with wisdom and wit ever week on her widely popular love Doctor Podcast but her own approach to romance centres on one goal staying single so when a meet cute in the sauna brings gorgeous Jay Hooper into her life she knows she needs to run the other way
Having just agreed to a bet with his sister that he’ll stop dating and searching for Mrs Right for at least six months Jay tries to ignore the attraction he feels for Lily which is only intensified when they find themselves working together
He can’t and she doesn’t date but then again rules are made to be broken aren’t they
Read in one sitting totally gripping totally recommend
