Oleana is a widow and desperate to escape the hell her life has become. Armed with a reference intended for another she is employed by the Earl of Moneith; and with her cat Carrot who has a talent for finding the displeasure of the Earl! Her life is still fraught with difficulty - the light being the Earls daughter of whom she becomes fond of.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this engaging, entertaining and compelling story! I just loved everything about it! Rich description of the people, places, decors and personalities and I was immediately hooked! I loved the relationship between Oleana and Jason of how it develops slowly and steadily, the attraction to each other, friendship, desire and finally love. I loved also the humour of the antics of Carrot! The story is well written, fast paced with lots of chemistry, twists and turns, danger and intrigue. There's an epilogue and a HEA 💓 highly recommended!!
Enticing the Earl is the 3rd book in the series of The Arrogant Earls and is by far my favourite. Oleana Honeywell, a housekeeper in Lord Montieth’s household has a very dark and mysterious past. No one is buying the fact that she was previously a housekeeper, with her clumsiness and her inability to find the laundry closet, least of all the Earl himself who finds himself intrigued with Oleana’s past.
This book, I felt, was a little too short and I believe so much more could have been put into it. The charming side story of Montieth’s daughter and her bond with Oleana for example - I felt it should have been explored at the end of the book, maybe she could have helped Oleana with the vegetable patch? I feel like the daughter was forgotten about. It would have also been nice to hear her call her father ‘Papa’ instead of ‘My Lord’. There was, however, an adorable scene with them both moon-bathing in the back garden at the beginning of the book that made me smile. Oleana’s cat, Carrot, deserved his own book as he was quite clearly the star! He was hilarious and I felt that Ayers captured the mischievous nature of cats very well with the comical timing in her writing, it literally had me laughing out loud, especially when the Earl found them having a tea party and Carrot was wearing one of his cravats!!
The whole book was lovely and could be read as a stand-alone. It had a bit of steam, but I would have liked to have seen more – again a longer novel for this book would have worked better in my opinion. However, I love Ayers style of writing, and this book is perfect for a rainy afternoon when you want to blot out the realities of the world and disappear into a good book.
*I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Enticing the Earl is a short but entertaining book that flows well with a cast of characters good and evil.
Olena needs to hide herself from some vicious relatives and manages to take employment as a housekeeper to the Earl of Monteith. He is a taciturn widow with a six year old daughter who is driven mad with Orleans inefficiency and clumsiness but is nevertheless very attracted to her as she is to him. They inevitably express their passion for each other and that is also well written.
Due to its length I did feel the story was a little rushed and lacking some depth, that said I enjoyed the story, just wanted a little more.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.
I just really loved Oleana she was cute, funny and a loveable character. I loved her cat carrot I loved reading about the cat. Interesting story with a good plot, I enjoyed it the vibes were there it was like a fun cozy read. I am so happy I got this to read first, I love the cover of the book it is so appealing to look at!
You can tell her and the earl like eachother during the story trying to hide the fact that they like eachother but cant hide it!
Thank you for letting me read this!

I loved all of the books in this series. Unusual heroines that are totally likeable. Jason was an awesome hero; stuffy and uptight on the outside, but a lovable studmuffin on the inside. 5 stars.
This book was a delight to read. Enticing the Earl unfolds beautifully and will hold you spellbound from the moment you begin the journey with Oleana and Jason the Earl of Monteith until the very end! This is the third in the Arrogant Earls series which brings the characters who found a place in your heart are back with a visit with Huntly and his new bride Emmagene. Oleana has a secret and she must hide herself as a housekeeper. Jason realizes his clumsy outspoken housekeeper isn't who she says she is but his daughter has become attacked to her and Jason feels a special but confusing growing attachment towards her. As Oleana and Jason fight their attention towards one another Carrot, Oleana's spoiled cat, really doesn't help things along with his antics....or does he? Kathleen Ayers has written a story that's filled with characters that weave a story that will hold your attention as their individual personalities become more than just part of the tale they come off the pages and pull you in, sizzling passion, wonderful back and forth witty banter, laugh out loud moments, with intrigue and suspenseful moments, heartfelt plot that leaves you wishing for more.

I very much enjoyed this book.
It was interesting, had some very good characters and a well thought out plot and storyline.
I haven’t read much by this author, but would be interested in more of her books in the future.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one, but I loved Oleana, she was an abominable housekeeper and a walking bruise. It made her very lovable, and her fluffy orange cat carrot was a hilarious and I couldn’t help laughing every time he did something he was no supposed to – which was often. Oleana was running from her past and her time in the Earl’s employ left never a dull moment for Oleana. If she wasn’t chasing after carrot or looking after the Earl’s daughter then she was fighting her immediate attraction to Jason, the Earl himself.
While Jason puts out a cold exterior, he is brimming with emotion internally and he is also very attracted to his menace of a housekeeper who is most obviously not who she says she is. But he doesn’t want to follow in his fathers’ footsteps and get involved with his staff.
They fight their attraction, try to reason out why it’s a terrible idea but ultimately they can’t resist giving in. and when Oleana’s past catches up with her she needs her hero more than ever.
I thoroughly enjoyed this quick, steamy and entertaining read. They characters had excellent chemistry and tension and though they should never have met and never have connected the way they did, their lives vastly different, Ayers brought them together beautifully. As always, Ayers’ delivered another compelling and binge worthy romance.
Kathleen Ayers’ “Enticing the Earl” is the delightful Book 3 in The Arrogant Earls Series. I love reading Ms. Ayers books, while this is an old trope the writing style is deliciously witty, fresh and entertaining.
She’s created such wonderful characters, Oleana the clumsy, inept housekeeper who knows nothing about keeping house, the grumpy Earl who can’t figure out why he’s so smitten with her, his lovely daughter who with the Earl has stolen her heart and a cat named Carrot who’s somehow found a way to the Earl’s heart. Oh there’s the nasty butler and an evil villain which is why Oleana masquerades as housekeeper, Mrs Honeywell.
This is such a charming story, so well written and entertaining. The author’s descriptions are so vibrant and enticing. I loved this heartwarming story with it’s delightful characters, humor, mystery and secrets. Jason was just the hero Oleana needed! Oh and I can’t forget, the cover is absolutely lovely!
Thank you so much Ms. Ayers for this wonderful story of love!
Mrs Oleana Honeywell managed to get herself hired as a housekeeper, but is not really qualified. For now at least she's safe. However it won't take long for her employer to fire her once he discovers her duplicity.
The Earl of Monteith knows his new housekeeper is a fraud, but his daughter has never been happier. For that reason alone he will put up with the chaos she has brought to his household.
This historical romance is full of fun and emotion. "Carrot" is a mischievous character that not everybody loves. There are some sexy scenes, danger ,evil people and a mystery to solve. All very good fun.
I loved it.
Oleana Honeywell has tweaked the truth, just slightly, to gain employment as a housekeeper in the Earl of Montieth’s household. With her cat, Carrot, causing mischief, and her growth attachment to Montieth’s daughter, Elizabeth, she is reluctant to leave. Yet, when the attraction between Oleana and Montieth, becomes something more, she feels that her days as housekeeper are numbered.
Oleana’s ability to fall over every piece of furniture and her love for Elizabeth, brought such joy to this book, as did the pesky cat. It seems that these characteristics were also what brought joy to Monteith. Watching him change from the stuffy and remote character, to one where his love for Elizabeth, was joyfully reciprocated, was a delight to see. A quick read with plenty of passion, thrown together with Oleana’s nasty mother-in-law, made for a delightful read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Enticing the Earl, by Kathleen Ayers. I loved the romance and the sensual steamy seems between Oleana and Jason. Thank you to the writer for that. I thought the story line was great. I believe that it works well with Jason and his own issues that he needs to correct. The story is a easy page turner that readers will love. I enjoyed the entertainment of the characters. I thought that they helped make the story more exciting to read.
I have to say that the 2 prior books in the series were top shelf, can't put down reads, but this book was a little less. So I read it again, and I must have missed something in the first read, because it was better.
Spoiler alert.
This book was a very quick read. It seemed a little less in depth as the previous in the series, but it is definitely a stand alone book. The couple from book 2 were mentioned near the end of the book when the hero asked for advice from his friend. And the couple from book 1 was a mention in one sentence.
This book has so much going for it. The characters are about 6 years apart, which is a great age gap. The heroine is a widow, so a mature woman who had faced hardships. The hero had been married already and had a daughter, but was looking for another wife. His aristocratic mother wanted him to marry a debutante, but he isn't sure. The governesses that had been teaching his daughter were very proper, but he wanted a better and closer relationship with his daughter. The hero fires the governess because she taught his daughter to call him "my lord" instead of "papa". The heroine loves the daughter, and although she is employed as a housekeeper, she spends most if her time with the daughter, teaching her math and science using the plants and gardens. The heroine is more of a governess than the governess was. And the kicker is that the hero was attracted to the heroine from the first minute. Then he spends a big part of the book beating himself up because his father was notorious for forcing himself on the female servants. So he is constantly comparing himself to his horrid father. The heroine's previous husband was a vicar who had a horrible family. They wanted nothing to do with her until the railway wanted to buy her abandoned farm that she inherited. Her husband did not want to work it, and her mother-in-law wanted to send her back to the farm after her son died. Never mind that the farm is abandoned and the money is all being sent to his mother and not the heroine.
All in all a very good read. I don't know what I missed the first time, because the second time, I couldn't put it down.
This is the third book in the series and it was 3 books, that were stand alone, all original with no formulated story lines. I am very impressed with this author. I give it 5 stars and recommend reading.
A great easy read. You will fall in love with the characters quickly, loved the adventure and the steam and the drama and the secrets. Great one day read for me. Try it!.
There is wit, romance, and suspense in this enjoyable novel as Oleana takes cover in the Earl of Montieth's home as a housekeeper, despite being totally inept for the position. She is much better suited as a governess, or even better a mother to Elizabeth. Expecting to be dismissed at every meeting with the Earl, Oleana cannot know that behind his severe facade, Jason is struggling to keep his amusement from showing, and even though her bundle of fur Carrot the cat, causes mischief at every turn, Jason cannot help but enjoy the chaos that ensues. Oleana's one redeeming feature is her patience and kindness towards his daughter and for that Jason will forgive her for almost anything. Unfortunately, there are those in his own household who would see her gone, and when danger catches up with her, Oleana has a real fight on her hands. The novel does come to a happy conclusion, and even Carrot's future is secured. I received a copy of this entertaining novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is such an enjoyable read as we get to know the charming , Oleana, a Vicar’s widow , posing as a housekeeper in an Earl’s home, as she tries to escape those who would harm her. She’s clumsy as can be and maybe the worst housekeeper ever. In addition, she comes with a crazy orange cat that drives the Earl crazy, but adds much humor to the story. He would fire her but his little girl adores her, and soon he will as well. The story is a delight.
So I read the first two books in the series a little while ago and liked them. They really are more like novellas, because I think each is under 200 pages. So it’s a nice quick read. Kathleen Ayers is very fun writer. She brings a lot of interesting characters to her books, as you know if you read the Beautiful Barringtons. I loved Ollie and I absolutely loved Carrot. There is some spice and a lot of good sexual tension. I definitely suggest reading the other works in the serious because Jason/Monteith is featured in those as well, and you learn some things about him, including about his previous marriage.
I fell in love with Kathleen Ayers’ writing when she described one of her heroes as having a slight paunch; that one won me over because it made it more realistic. As much as we love the supermodel heroine and Adonis hero, it’s always nice when there’s that little bit of reality in that fictional universe that makes it so you really can see yourself there.
It’s a solid little book and definitely a 4+ star effort. Remember, it is short, so you’re going to have to suspend some disbelief regarding their feelings for each other and how quickly they develop, but it’s a romance novel and that’s what we want from it, so it works fine.
This is Oleana story and she is having a really hard time now that her husband is dead. Her mother-in-law is a nasty, mean woman who thinks only of herself and how to get money. Oleana escapes to London and managers to get the job of housekeeper for none other than the Earl of Montieth. Using his Aunt Agatha to get the job. She has a couple of problems, one being she knows nothing about being a housekeeper. She is the worst one every, she is also the clumsiest ever, knocking over things, tripping over her own feet, and bumping into walls too! The Earl's butler, Wilbert hates her and wants her gone. Jason Symon, the Earl has vowed never to be like his father who chased woman. But the new housekeeper is a problem. She is not a housekeeper and he knows she is keeping secrets from him. But his daughter Elizabeth has never been happier. He tries to keep his wayward thoughts to himself when around but nothing is working. Not only is she not who she says she is but her cat is the most mischievous pest. He can't understand why he is so attracted to her. But he is smitten with her and her beautiful red hair.
Oleana knows her time at the Earls house can't last. People are looking for her, she should leave but with her attraction for Jason and her love of Elizabeth she can't. Oh, my now the plot thickens.
What will happen if she is found ? Will Jason and her every act on their feelings ? Will poor carrot, the cat every get his two loves, Jason and Elizabeth's favorite doll neither who returns his affections.
This is a romance but also a mystery and is witty too. You may not laugh out loud but you will be smiling a lot. I hated some of the characters, but loved Jason, Elizabeth, Carrot and Oleana.
They all have things to overcome but the ending is so special.
I received an Arc from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it. This is book three in this series but can be read as a stand-alone. Best if read in order to understand the history between the characters. The book has a heat level of about a three or four for those who like to know.
Enjoyed this addition to the Arrogant Earls series, featuring "Mrs Honeywell", a very unsuccessful housekeeper, this book's Earl (Montieth), his daughter and a very roguish cat.
Jason, our Earl, suspects very early on that Oleana is not in fact a housekeeper but she has a letter of recommendation from a recently deceased aunt and it is definitely her signature. So he lets her stay and is rewarded by the affections of Carrot the cat.
This is a sweet story and I liked the two main characters. I like Kathleen Ayers books and these short and light stories keep me going between Barringtons.
Another great addition to the Arrogant Earls series. Kathleen Ayer’s writes a fun, witty romance with mystery and intrigue. Just where did Mrs. Oleana Honeywell come from, and what was she hiding? Obviously not a housekeeper for her skills leave much to be desired, but her fondness for Lord Monteith’s daughter keeps her position secure. The ever-growing attraction between the housekeeper and her Lord, makes for a scandalous twist. But the mysteries of Oleana’s past are what keep you guessing throughout the entire story. An incredibly entertaining story, I loved Ollie’s spirit, despite her inferior position she still stood up for herself with Lord Monteith, creating delightful witty banter. Add in one lazy, affectionate cat who is constantly making mischief and you have the perfect blend for a delightful read!
