Enticing the Earl is yet another powerful installment within Kathleen's new series, featuring the Earl of Monteith and Oleana!
Oleana and the Earl of Monteith burn for each other--their passion hotter than flames. The Earl of Monteith can't resist Oleana's creativity, imagination, clumsiness, and adoration of his daughter. Even if Oleana's companion is an overweight, orange cat by the name of Carrot, who always know how to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and never seems to be able to catch a mouse.
But fate seems to put unseemly obstacles in between them--the fact Oleana is the Earl of Monteith's housekeeper, and the Earl of Monteith does not seduce the staff. Also, the Earl. of Montheith doesn't like liars and yet Oleana's dark secrets seem to catch her ankles in the dark muck of those in pursuit of her.
In this epic love tale Oleana and the Earl of Monteith connect in a deep passionate and emotional way, healing each other's old wounds and protecting one another .
This was a joy to read!
I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and this is my freely given opinion.
Oleanna Honeywell is on the run, and hiding as an inept housekeeper in the home of the Earl of Montieth. She is constantly on the edge of being fired, as she clearly is not able to manage a large household, is undermined by the butler who hates her, and her cat is determined to escape and wreak havoc, and she is terribly clumsy to boot. But she needed a safe haven, and lied to get her position, and needs to stay for a little while longer
Luckily, the daughter of the Earl, Elizabeth, loves her, more so than the previous governesses hired for her care, and as such, the Earl keeps her for now.
Montieth is a tightly wound up widower, who knows he must remarry to get an heir. He is inconveniently heavily attracted to his housekeeper, despite her ineptness. But he is determined not to follow in his father's footsteps, who apparently had no qualms about tupping the help.
I am quite conflicted about this story. I loved the sexual tension between Montieth and Oleanna, and when they finally gave into their attraction, the sparks were bright and hot. I found the relationship between Oleanna and the daughter very sweet. I rather liked the mystery as to why Oleanna had to escape her past and hide as well. But I found things like Carrot the cat and the frequent notes and episodes of Oleanna's clumsiness to be incredibly annoying and detracting from the story. Normally I like animals in stories, but there was so much Carrot that I could not deal with him anymore, especially as he was not terribly likeable. The villains in the piece, including the hateful butler, were over exaggerated IMO, and found this detracted from my enjoyment of the story as well.
Definitely my least favourite of the three so far. This is a shame, as I was really looking forward to Montieth's story too after his introduction in the first book, and how much I enjoyed the second story.
3 stars out of 5.
The third book in the Arrogant Earls series. Oleana Honeywell, Carrot her cat and Jason the Earl of Montieth’s story is well written and kept me turning pages. There is drama, twists, turns, and romance. The cover is beautiful. I received a copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a sweet, spicy good time! Oleana has managed to secure a position as housekeeper in the Earl of Montieth's household under somewhat dubious conditions. She's a terrible housekeeper, but the earl's daughter is quite fond of her. And so, possibly, is the earl...
The chemistry between Oleana and Jason is quite enjoyable, though the readers don't really see it develop--it's already burning brightly when we join the story. Jason definitely has some issues to work out, too. He can be very moody, abrupt, and kind of passive, but Oleana is strong and gracious about this. She's very easy to admire! There's a bit of action as secrets are revealed and old enemies resurface, but on the whole the story is about growing and celebrating love, even when it comes in an unlikely way.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
🌜Just Not For Me 🌛
Enticing the Earl by Kathleen Ayers is a fun story and can be read without reading the first two books of the series. While I enjoyed this book I found it just didn’t live up to my expectations. I had been looking forward to Earl of Montieth’s story since being introduced to him in previous books. Once I finished Chasing the Earl which I absolutely loved, I couldn’t wait for the next book of the series. Sadly this story just fell flat for me. 🙁 I didn’t enjoy the aspect of a heroine so clumsy she literally couldn’t walk without running into a wall or tripping herself with her skirts. I also thought the aspect of Carrot the cat, while cute at first, got really old very quickly. I wondered at times if the story should have been named “The Adventures of Carrot” - why were there pages devoted to the cat’s behavior versus having pages of actual romance between the MCs. Then to top everything off the “bad guys” in the story were utterly ridiculous.
Ultimately this book suffers from “second book syndrome” even though it is the third book of the series. I am giving the story a 2.5 Star rating rounded up to 3 stars. Passion and heat rating is also a 3 Flame.
📚I received a review copy from Dragonblade Publishing all opinions are my own. 🦄
Children and pet in movies and books always steal the show.Carrot,is a cat who is fond of our Mc but belongs to Fmc.and our Mc has a beautiful sweet 6 yr old daughter who takes a liking gor Fmc.
Our fmc has a past and secrets she us hiding in Mc household as a housekeeper.it was hilarious to read about her mismanagement.
Her interactions with the cat and the child are rather sweet .
The chemistry between Jason and Oleana is great.
A short sweet spicy story.
Loved it.
Could not put the book down because one could not be sure what the cat or heroine would get up to next. A steamy page turner with enough humor and suspense for light reading. Happy ever after ending.
What a fun story. Oleana Honeywell is the Earl of Montieth’s new housekeeper. She is the farthest thing from ever being a housekeeper. Plus, she is as clumsy as they come. Always falling or bumping into furniture. But she needs a safe place to stay, and Montieth’s home is the perfect place to hide. Now Montieth is grumpy, cold, and arrogant, but he has fallen for Oleana almost as soon as she arrives at his home. But he does not dally with his servants, so what is he to do. Carrot the cat is the best animal I have read in a story. And Elizabeth, Montieth’s daughter, is so sweet and loving. I loved the scenes between Elizabeth and Oleana when they were having tea parties with Carrot and a doll as guests or moon bathing. This is my favorite so far in this series.
There are forces trying to force them apart but none can overcome the machinations of a cat! Well, maybe it’s more like nothing can defeat their love and attraction. Lotsa funny and amusing incidents as well as steamy scenes. Enjoyable hours of reading!
I received an ARC of this book and leaving my review voluntarily.
I loved everything about this book except it ended too soon. I wanted epilogue after epilogue to see how Oleana and Jason, Elizabeth and Carrot fared in years to come! Somehow Kathleen Ayers has made the cold crusty noble, in this case an Earl, seem likeable despite everything and Ollie lovable in her clumsiness and ineptness, at least for the position of housekeeper! I highly recomend this book to all who love a good historical romance and really, any book Kathleen Ayers has written. I received an ARC of the novel but all opinions are my own.
3.75⭐️ 2🌶
I thought this was a nice story. I liked how right away we start with the 2 MCs desiring each other, and Oleana’s connection with Elizabeth is really touching. I’ve always been a fan of a historical romance Hero of nobility falling for someone they shouldn’t. Jason was such a grump in the first two books, it was nice to hear his inner monologue here and see that there was more to him.
The villains in this story are pretty typical of the time period and the ending was predictable, but like with book 2, Kathleen brought a little spice; and scandalous too. 🫢
Overall, a quick easy read with good writing and characters.
Delightful Romance That Sizzles:
I was not familiar with this authors books before and I thought this story was delightful, super sizzling and interesting.
The characters were charming along with a good amount of attraction between Oleana and Jason.
Plot was intriguing with a few situations along the way that kept my attention and my heart racing until the very end.
The two had to deal with some interesting situations before their HEA finish but I enjoyed each moment and look forward to reading more of this authors stories.
Loved the cat and the cover was beautiful.
Adult Advisory:
I did receive and advanced copy for my honest opinion.
A delightful and engaging story and I loved the chemistry and romance build up between Jason, Earl Montieth and Oleana. Not a long story, just right and well crafted and paced that kept the story and characters moving along smoothly. But, I have to say that Carrot, the overly large and spoiled cat stole the show.
Fiery young widow on the run
Fleeing her greedy, grasping in-laws, clumsy Oleana starts working as a (quite inept) housekeeper. She befriends her employer’s daughter, giving her what she needs most: unconditional love instead of cold teaching. Her employer – the earl – is quite antagonistic at first, hardly accepting her and her orange cat named Carrot. This changes when the earl begins to understand that she brings feelings and humanity into their lives.
Hands down the best book in the series! I absolutely LOVED Carrot! We need more characters with pets like carrot in books it really adds to the story! I liked how unusual the main heroine is, sometimes change is needed as I quickly tire of the usual sweet and virginal main character. Great book!
A fun and entertaining story with Carrot stealing the show for me. A little bit of mystery from Oleana's side and truly awful villain what more could you need. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Oh my! Behind Monteith's grumpiness was a hot man! I loved that he was so enamored with Oleana that he just couldn't stay away from her. Oleana was wonderful. Her clumsiness was endearing. I really liked this one!
Fun and Full of Passion
Oleana arrived on Jason the Earl of Monteith’s doorstep one day with her big Orange Cat called Carrot and a letter of reference from his Aunt. The moment Jason saw her and her bright red hair, he instantly wanted her and his carnal feelings were slowly getting out of hand! He had given her a job as his housekeeper which was a bad idea, she obviously didn’t know the first thing about being a housekeeper but his daughter Elizabeth had taken a liking to her and her cat so after dismissing his daughters governess, Oleana had stepped in to look after her.
Carrot the Cat was the bane of his life, it wouldn’t leave him alone and seemed to attach itself to him whenever it could. He had spent most of the time resisting Oleana, he didn’t want to be like his father, seducing his staff, he was above that and although they had shared a passionate kiss, he was still trying to resist her. Finding their passion getting out of hand and that they couldn’t control themselves, they ended up giving in to their attraction.
Oleana was taken by force from his home and being the hero he was, set out after her to rescue the one woman he loved and couldn’t live without.
Another fun, steamy, passionate story in this brilliant series with Carrot the Cat causing fun and mayhem along the way with lots of laugh out loud moments. All three books in this series are amazing reads and I found all of them to be highly entertaining, funny with lots of steam and would recommend them all.
I can’t wait to see what Kathleen writes next and cannot recommend this author enough!
Just what is Oleana to do? She has found a position in an Earl’s house and the butler is determined to have her fired. Can she help it if she is clumsy, furniture breaks and she cannot find the linen closet? After all this is new to her and even Orange the cat is having a challenging time. He keeps invading the Earl’s library and leaves chunks of orange hair all over it. The worst part of all of this is the feelings she is starting to have for the earl. Not to leave out his young daughter. Oleana is the only one that has figured out how to make math simple for her to understand. What an interesting plot. Humor rides the page at times and leaves you smiling as you go along. A unique wonderful read for your enjoyment.
After living with a deceiving wife, what Lord Montieth despises the most is a liar and he knows that his new housekeeper is hiding something.
Oleana can’t disguise herself as Montieth’s housekeeper forever but in his house she’s developed a fondness for his daughter and even Carrot (the cat)seems to like her new employer!
This book will make you smile with warmth, fan yourself for the steam rising from the pages, cry out in outrage but ultimately it will make you sigh with satisfaction .
