I love Mary Kubica, and will always read anything she writes. With that being said, Just the Nicest Couple wasn't my favorite.
The book follows two couples, Christian and Lily, and Nina and Jake. Nina and Lily both teach at the same high school, and have been friends for years. While Jake and Christian tolerate each other, the two couples do spend time together socially.
When Jake goes missing, Nina first assumes he has left her. When time passes and she hasn't heard from him, and he hasn't accessed his credit cards, or bank accounts, she begins to think she might be wrong.
I think I didn't enjoy this one as much because she alternated between Christian and Nina. I did appreciate the other side of the story, but the writing just seemed off.
This one was as fast paced as her others, but I still enjoyed it.
Mary Kubica is an autobuy author for me! I have loved every single book that I have read of hers. Her upcoming novel Just the Nicest Couple was no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed this domestic thriller!
This is a slower paced thriller, compared to her other books, but it is no less exciting. It goes at its own pace as the story unfolds, and you won't be able to figure out what happens until the last page.
This book had so many red herrings it was hard to keep track of sometimes. Just when I thought I had things figured out it turns out I was wrong. None of the characters were very likable, but the book itself was very enjoyable. I thought all of the characters seemed immature or just downright dumb by repeating the same mistakes over and over.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat I thought the writing was great, and I honestly didn't know how the story was going to end up until the very end.
Thank you Harlequin/Park Row books for my gifted copy!

Wow this book was AMAZING Avery easy to read is not a predictable book the plot is amazing you will never see the end .. 100% recommended
When Nina's husband goes missing she thinks he left her. But then she gets suspicious that maybe something bad really happened. When she ends up suspecting her friend, she has to question who she can trust and what really happened.
Excellent suspense! I raced through this one because there was never a good stopping point.

Just the Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica
3.5 Stars
Another enjoyable novel by Mary Kubica! The plot moved quickly, driven by the dual POV. The characters were mostly unlikable, a hallmark of a good thriller. The twist was also only semi-predictable. My main issue is the writing itself; it was very juvenile with short sentences and basic vocabulary. I hope the author is planning on some rewrites before publishing in January. Overall, a good thriller that I recommend for those who have enjoyed Kubica’s other books.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for my review.
I have been a fan of Mary Kubica's since she first The Good Girl. Each year, I look forward to her new releases with tremendous excitement each year and always drop everything to read them immediately. Just the Nicest Couple certainly did not disappoint me - my attention was held from cover to cover. So many secrets, so much deception, I was constantly guessing what was going to happen next and devoured every page!
Thank you to Park Row for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
Book Title: Just The Nicest Couple

My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟+ Stars
I went into this knowing next to nothing as to what it is about:. I am a big Mary Kubica fan. ~ so I knew I wanted to read anything she writes!
This is my eighth novel~ In fact, I have read all of her novels. I gave " The Good Girl” and “When the Lights go Out” 5 stars the others 4+ (I am stingy with stars so 4+ is a super rating for me!)
Main characters in this story;
Christian and Lily Scott (The Nicest Couple)
Nina and Jake Hayes
Christian is a market research analyst and Lily is high school algebra teach. Christian says they met and fell in love as they are both math nerds.
Lily and Nina are friends as well as colleagues. Nina teaches English at the same high school at Lily.
Jake is a neurosurgeon; he had an upsetting day on Monday. He had a follow-up meeting with the family of a patient who bleed out in the operating room -the family blames Jake. Although he knows it wasn’t his fault it was still upsetting. So in addition to having a stressful day he is feeling a neglected by his wife as she is spending so much of her spare time caring and helping her mother.
Monday night Jake doesn't come home. Nina figures he just needs some time alone as they had an argument earlier. But after two days it appears he has disappeared.
It seems Lily might have been the last person to have seen him........she tells her husband but believes best not to tell police.
Hmmm
Their decision reminded of a TV commercial where teenagers in a horror movie are
making bad decisions.
Yep these two were making some bad decision.
Christian loves Lily and is willing to do anything to protect her.
I was all over the place as to what really happened. Story was a great fast read!
Love Mary Kubica ~ she never disappoints!!
Want to thank NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing ~ Park Row for this early uncorrected proof.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for January 10, 2023
I loved this book!! It was a little more of slow burn from the more recent novels by Kubica. Fabulous and thrilling read
I am a huge Mary Kubica fan but this was not my favorite. I felt like the plot moved along rather slowly and the characters kept doing the same things over and over and over. There were some red herrings and some secrets revealed but nothing that really wowed me. I kept waiting for more and it just didn’t happen. The twist was unexpected but I didn’t find it entirely plausible. I’m definitely glad that I read this and will continue to read all of Kubica’s books, as she is a queen of psychological suspense, but unfortunately this was just so-so for me.
Just The Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica adds to her status as Queen of Suspense! I enjoyed the play on love; how much is enough, and what are we willing to do or give up for another. Mary deftly turns any situation on its toes and the readers cannot stop lest they miss what’s going to happen next. And who wants to do that? Not me.
Fast paced, kept me guessing and I didn't want to put it down! I really enjoyed the alternating chapters between Christian and Nina. I sort of expected to get the perspectives of Jake and Lily, but it was great with just the two POVs.
Definitely will recommend!
Thank you for the advanced copy of the book. Mary Kubica delivered another good thriller that keeps you guessing. There are plenty of red herrings that keep you guessing what happened to Nina’s husband.
Oh Mary you did it again! Lily and Christian have a good relationship. Lilys has a friend from the school she teaches at named Nina whose husband Jake comes up missing. Enter the juiceiness.....Nina thinks Jake just took off after a fight and Lily has a run in with Jake just before he goes missing. Where is Jake? Why did he disappear? As Nina gets closer to her mother and she gets mysterious flowers delivered to her, the story comes together. Is Jake coming back? Is the mystery man who sent flowers related? The story is so well written and every time you think you know what is happening you find out you are wrong. Love Mary's style of writing and love love love the ending and how you really never know who is around you and who you can trust.
In ALL honesty, can Mary Kubica do no wrong??? "Just the Nicest Couple" was another masterpiece by a legend!
Spoiler alert: This is the second time I read a book by Mary Kubica, and it won’t be the last. Just the Nicest Couple was a very quick, easy, and entertaining read. Most the characters were likable and believable. Except Lily. I hated Lily and I was not at all surprised when her twist came.
All and all the book was a good and interesting read. Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the eARC. #Netgalley #JusttheNicestCouple

I’ve been a big Mary Kubica fan. Love her twists and turns and surprise endings.
This book did not disappoint. Definitely worth the read!
Mary Kubica is masterful at crafting domestic suspense and characters who are not as they appear. Just The Nicest Couple kept me slightly off kilter throughout, with a delicious sense of unease, as I awaited the author’s hallmark twists and reveals. So well done!
This was not my favorite Kubica title. It was slow and the ending was too abrupt and not get satiating.
This book was really good. I really enjoy when I think I know what's happening, and then in a split second it all changes. It's the art if a good writer to be able to give you all the clues, get your sucked in, and then switch it up while keeping the reader engaged.
Than you netGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately this book fell flat for me. While the idea had promise, the character were never fully developed & their relationships felt unrealistic.
The ending had a different twist which I enjoyed but wasn't a jaw-dropper for me.
