When an event planner and an astronaut get caught up in a modern day “You’ve Got Mail” situation with misdirected video chats, you end up with great, spicy, delightful situations.

When open door sexy time starts out with a bump on the head and ends with “Just like that, my astronaut successfully launched me into the stars” you have definitely got A Cosmic Kind of Love, the latest romcom by Samantha Young.

When you get an advanced copy of a book that looks this cute, you immediately open it up and read it all- straight through.

When your theme for the week is witches but you promised to post about this fun book because it was published this week, you throw a witches hat in the picture and make it work.

After all, a love like this is kind of magical…

This book could not have come at a better time. It was so meaningful to me bc I had a party mishap happen while reading and the book was so relatable it wasn’t even funny! I felt like Hallie was a best friend I could confide in. Chris is amazing and l loooove how they could admit fault and talk it out with each other. Althea was just amazing I was cracking up laughing at the airport scene. I loved it so much! This story was perfection per usual lol! Samantha’s stories never fail to inspire, lift you up, get heart broken and then be pieced back together in the most beautiful way. Sigh I love all her stories.

The most epic love story ever! I mean an astronaut? How cool is that? The way Chris and Hallie met was pretty unique and innocent but perfect for the modern world. We use technology for everything so communicating through video to someone in space is quite exciting. Their meet cute is really quite sweet and embarrassing, but perfect for them. They have so much in common between their fathers, working hard for their achievements and their lovable personalities it was inevitable they would make it work. Hallie surprised me with her classy wit and easy going professionalism. While Chris was the opposite of what I thought an astronaut would be, he’s easy going also not at all high strung and big headed. Another favorite read from Young, who has proven she has a range of writing that will keep readers intrigued. Thank you for the early copy, I’ve given my review voluntarily and honestly.

Hallie, an event planner, accidentally receives videos of her client’s ex-boyfriend. She knows she shouldn’t watch them, but Hallie is intrigued by the cute and funny astronaut, Christopher, and can’t help herself. She decides to make her own video diaries and sends them to what she thinks is Chris’s disabled NASA email. When the IT department forwards the video messages to Chris, he can’t help starting to fall for Hallie.

This was exactly the kind of feel good read I needed, and it had just the right amount of humor sprinkled throughout! The premise of an astronaut (and one of only fourteen Latinx astronauts in the history of NASA at that) and a successful young woman with pink hair falling for each other through video messages was unique and fun! Hallie and Chris had their separate issues to work through, some of which I could definitely relate to, and I loved getting both of their POVs. Their slow burn, friends to lovers romance was so sweet! Hallie’s bestie, Althea, and Chris’s Aunt Richelle made this story even better, and I was glad Hallie and Chris had them in their corner! I loved this charming, adorable, heartwarming romcom!

Hallie & Chris - A love fated by the cosmos!

This contemporary romance had me wrapped from the beginning with a unique story of two people on two separate paths in life coming together out of nowhere!

Hallie, a people pleasing event planner, is stuck between her divorced parents and their constant fighting and stuck in a relationship that's really doing nothing for her. She's successful in her career, but everything else is stuck on autopilot. Chris, a former air force Captain AND former astronaut also finds himself stuck. He has no idea what he wants for the future and after living his life for everyone but him he's looking to start down a path of self discovery. Their paths cross in the most curious of ways and the rest is history!

This is undoubtedly one of the best contemporary romances I've read this year. Although it was set in the popular setting of NYC, the entire story was unique and peppered with witty banter and the most outlandish situations that Hallie is always finding herself in. I loved that Hallie called Chris "Captain" and although they did move really fast, it didn't feel that way because with the circumstances it felt like they already intimately knew one another. This was spicy, spicy as well! When the cotton candy cloud burst I was broken, but optimistic for a Happily Ever After and the author definitely delivered! I'm so pleased with this book and can't wait to read more from this new to me author!

** spoiler alert ** The way this couple meets is pretty unique and sets it off the novel at a decent pace. However there were so many cringey moments that pulled me out of the story. Hallie was too much of a people pleaser for much of the plot that it set my nerves on edge to have her trampled on for so long. I also want to know what happened to Miguel, did I miss it? I did think the romance was authentic and it did have a lot of romantic moments. However both of these character were OTT in some regards and it gave the story an awkward feeling. I did enjoy the astronaut aspect and finally having Hallie grow a backbone towards the end

As per usual Samantha Young so wonderfully has swooned me into a wonderful mood. A Cosmic Kind of Love has such a unique premise, I was instantly hooked on what would happen.
Wedding planner falls for bride client's ex? Stumbles on old messages and becomes super intriuged by him? Yes please! The most subtle of forbidden flair kept me so invested through out.
The steam is always great when Samantha writes her books, this was no exception. I also love that she had a Latinx character in the book. I was not able to verify if she had sensitivity readers to ensure she was writing responsibly, but I would think she did.

I loved every bit of Chris and Hallie story and have already ordered my paperback copy! Hallie is fun, relatable, and a mess! She is highly respected event planner and most know expect for her parent and her terrible ex boyfriend. Hallie a people pleasing women bending over backwards for everyone and as her character evolves she becomes the girl you cheer for and want to hug! Chris is the first Mexican astronaut captain, and back in New York he is struggling to adjust being back from space. Hallie, the pink haired girl sending him videos after watching his diary, has him interested and wanting to become her friend. Ahh such a slow burn in the best way, Hallie and Chris were complete opposite in looks and life track but with a terrible family situation they were able to relate. The story goes back and forth as we read about the struggle Hallie and Chris go through in there personal lives and how they get their ah ha moment. As a friends to lovers, Hallie friendship with Chris has her being honest and finding someone who truly listens to her. Its was fun to see Chris alpha and sweet side come out, he saw Hallie for the women she always was. The slow build helped add to the steam of when they finally get together, it is magic! Samatha Young knows angst and romance and when the combine in to a nerdy space romance it is every bit enjoyable!

When event planner Hallie accidentally sees video letters to her client from an ex-boyfriend, she knows she shouldn't watch them. But Chris Ortiz isn't just talking about random things- he's an astronaut talking about life on the International Space Station! Hallie feels both guilty and fascinated, and develops a celebrity crush on a man she's sure she'll never meet. She sends a video apology for watching the letters, it bounces back, and she finds herself sending more. It's not like anyone will see them, so where's the harm, right? Except Chris does see them. And becomes attached to Hallie. When they meet in person, sparks fly and he decides to make sure their bond is real by having her plan an event for him- and if they become friends along the way that's great. But how do you turn a relationship like this into something real when each is dealing with baggage they don't know how to handle on their own, let alone together?

A cosmically great romance! Hallie is adorable, funny, smart, and completely relatable. She's a people pleaser used to going out of her way for everyone around her and getting nothing in return, which makes her great at her job but gives her little satisfaction in her personal life. Her divorced parents act like they're still in the middle of the divorce and hurt Hallie while trying to hurt each other. So a safe, kind, celebrity crush might be the best kind of relationship Hallie can have. One that won't hurt her. But the real Chris turns out to be pretty awesome too, and is one of the few people who actively stands up for Hallie. Kind, smart and funny, Chris has done what few others have and is now a bit lost on what to do next- not helped by his overly controlling and overbearing father trying to run his life with no thought of what Chris might want! Each of them are products of their parents in different ways and while they are great people, there are some key things they haven't figured out- like compromise, trust, and relationship communications. Together the chemistry sparks, leaving you smiling with every page, delighting in Chris and Hallie's journey- both together and as individuals.

Samantha Young (Much Ado About You) does another wonderful job creating relatable, complex characters with real and relatable problems, people (not just primary characters) who are full of life and depth, color and spirit, and a story you won't want to put down.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

This is very different from the books I’ve read by Samantha in the past and all I can say is that Ms. Young never ceases to amaze me. It’s so different, yet so good! The idea of a Latinx astronaut was captivating and it didn’t disappoint. Samantha did an outstanding job showing a very hard but very true part of being Latinx and not growing up in the culture. Chris was the picture perfect hero, I truly loved his heart, his mind, everything about him was on point. Even him having faith in people that had failed him in the past was on brand for him.
Hallie brought many memories from my childhood, being the daughter of divorced parents isn’t easy, specially when they put you in the middle. But I loved Hallie’s character development throughout the book. She just needed to believe in herself.
This book was truly an amazing ride, I laughed, I swooned, I cried. It was simply cosmic.

Chris and Hallie are both people pleasers. Often times sacrificing themselves to make others happy. Chris put aside his goals in order to fulfill his brother’s dream of becoming an astronaut. Also trying to always please his father. Hallie, the forever people pleaser since she was little. Always sacrificing her wants. When she was little she often held back so that her parents wouldn’t argue and eventually divorce. What she didn’t realize it wasn’t up to her to save her parent’s marriage. Now even though she is an adult she is put in the middle of them always.
Chris and Hallie might not be from the same social circle but they are perfect together. He finds himself opening up to her in ways he never could with Darce. In society’s eyes Darce and Chris were perfect together but to Chris they never would have worked out. He often held back with Darce but with Hallie he is an open book. He confides in Hallie in ways he never did with anyone else. He feels a closeness to her he never felt before. Watching her videos to him gave him a connection he never felt.
Chris and Hallie are so good together. It doesn’t matter what others think, passing judgement on them because society doesn’t agree with them being together. What society doesn’t realize is Hallie and Chris complete each other. For once in their lives they are putting themselves and their wants before anything and anyone else. They are responsible for their own happiness and will do anything to make that happen.

I'm a fan of Samantha Young's romantic comedies and A Cosmic Kind of Love was no different, a light and cute story about overcoming, self-esteem and learning to fight for what really matters.

Hallie is one of those characters that win you over in the first lines with her distracted and sweet way ready to please everyone, but this comes at a cost to her heart because her low self-esteem and her way of eternally pleasing her parents makes her always sad for not knowing how to impose herself for the others. She is already without hope that she will find someone who values her just the way she is until she meets astronaut Christopher Ortiz.

Christopher also has a serious problem with his father who wants to direct and control his life. After he came back from space he became a little lost and was betrayed by his girlfriend. Upon meeting Hallie, she becomes a point of light on his path and both can discover the strength they have together.

I found it quite unusual the way the writer used to make the two get to know each other and how they gradually became fond of each other until they found love. Hallie's growth along the plot was more than the icing on the cake for me and I rooted for her a lot until the end.

A Cosmic Kind of Love is the very definition of feel-good storytelling. Samantha Young made me sigh, swoon, and laugh out loud throughout this charming book; saying I couldn't put it down is an understatement. The unlikely romance between Hallie Goodman and Christopher Ortiz clearly starts off on the wrong foot but as the pages flew by, getting to watch as they both finally find the 'one' in each other put the biggest smile on my face.

The people-pleaser events planner and the accomplished astronaut have their worlds collide when Hallie is hired to help with Chris's ex-girlfriend Darcy's engagement party. When files from the Cloud for Darcy's event end up in Hallie's inbox, she gets to experience Chris in ways that both surprise and intrigue her to the point where she watches his videos many times over. Then when Hallie replies to these diary entries from Chris's time in space, he gets to see inside her soul as well and thus starts the beginning of their fated love affair.

Both characters are endearing and truly good people, with Hallie being a gem and a half and deserving of all the good life can offer. I loved her co-worker and bestie Althea, who gives our girl the confidence to face down her divorced parents and anyone else who continues to wrong her with snarky comments. I understood Hallie and her need to want everyone to be happy around her and not cause strife unnecessarily. And I was thrilled that a man like Chris could appreciate all Hallie could and would offer him as his own life is currently in a bit of limbo. He gets his own kind of help from his outspoken yet very caring Aunt Richelle and I was simply glad he had her as a sounding board especially when Chris couldn't help but be a typical man by putting his foot in his mouth more than once.

The flow of this book was easy and wonderful and Young provides just enough angst and steam to make it that much more appealing. As Hallie and Chris both start to find their way in their professional and personal lives, the chance of future separation combined with times of doubt and mistrust add just the right amount of strife making their ultimate reunion that much sweeter. These two are perfect for one another and their understanding and acceptance of who they both are deep down is what made their love affair just so incredible for this reader.

Samantha Young continues to up her writing game with each new book. And with A Cosmic Kind of Love, she does that and more with this heartfelt and truly adorable story.

5++++ stars all the way!

This sweet friends to lovers romance was out of this world. I absolutely loved Hallie and Christopher. Watching them navigate from friendship to lovers was such a fun ride.

Each of them were kind of voyeurs in each others lives. When Hallie is accidentally forwarded Christopher’s videos to his ex and watches them she makes it her business to make sure she comes clean the first opportunity she gets. However, Christopher watches Hallie’s video diaries while allowing the videos to appear as they have been bounced back. When given the opportunity to come clean he decides to pursue Hallie’s friendship to try lessen the blow.

Their friendship allows them both to grow not only as a couple but personally. Each of them gained strength to stand up against their overbearing and controlling families.

Their story left a smile on my face and my heart. If you are looking for a fun read that’s out of this world look no further.

I think this is one of my favorite books from Samantha Young ever. I thought that Hallie and Chris were relatable, Hallie because she's stuck in the middle of parents post divorce making life difficult for each other but really only difficult for Hallie. I also understand where Chris is coming from with being a part of the Mexican American community but not being raised in it and feeling isolated as a result.

I thought that this was a beautifully complex book and I loved that even thought Hallie and Chris’ relationship was front and center, I loved reading how their relationships with their families and loved ones developed.

I appreciated that the big conflict between Hallie and Chris wasn’t insurmountable. Both Hallie and Chris had reasons for thinking different things, but when Chris realized that he wronged Hallie and he did make a huge effort to let Hallie know he’d done wrong.

I also loved that Chris stood up for Hallie with her ex George (I so badly want to call him Gregory, but he seems like an awful Gregory.)

This is a delightful sweet romance that also manages to deal with the characters past issues. Hallie is an event planner and her latest bride Darcy gives her seven videos to use for the wedding. Hallie inside those videos finds video letters from Darcy‘s ex captain Christipher Ortiz who is an astronaut. She is so charmed by him that she emails her own letters on video to him. Christopher is back and is currently at his aunts house while trying to figure out his next move. Someone sent him the emails from Hallie and he is charmed by her.

Christopher decides to go to Darcy‘s wedding to be able to see Hallie. It’s really sweet to see how they both manage this new excitement of a possible connection in their lives. It’s very entertaining to see how they both have to deal with past issues in order to move forward. All in all this is such a delightful romance and I would highly recommend it .
