I was so very excited for this book because the premise is so cute but it was a disappointment in every way. This book is just not good. The writing style is sloppy and the characters are flat, one dimensional. There could be an interesting cast of side characters but the author is too busy telling us how to label everyone that she can't be bothered showing us who the characters really are. It felt like some kind of diversity bingo game because she kept stating absolutely irrelevant information about characters as though she expects to be patted on the back for being so inclusive. That's not how it's done.

Write a great character and let the readers see for themselves that she's pansexual instead of just introducing someone and info-dumping useless details. It's a cop-out and readers hate it.

Hallie, a pink haired party planner, is booked for an engagement party. The bride sends through some inspo for her wedding but what she doesn’t realise is that she has sent a link to her cloud drive which includes videos on an ex boyfriend who just happens to be an astronaut. The videos are video diaries from Captain Christopher Ortiz’s NASA mission. Hallie can’t help herself. After watching one, then another and another, she realises she has a bit of a crush on Chris. 🫣🫣

Chris receives a video from Hallie apologising for watching his videos and after she mentions she got the videos accidentally from his ex-girlfriend, he lets her think that the video isn’t received. Hallie receives the bounced back email and because she is so stressed in life she finds it comforting getting it all out but knowing that he’ll never see the videos so continues to make them and send it his ‘disconnected email address’. 😍👏🏻🫣

This was a super sweet romance. I’m not usually into low spice books, but this one was a cute surprise.
I loved the flow of Samantha’s writing. With the added chunk of how Hallie and Chris’s families were towards them separately, it made an interesting storyline. It shows Chris’s return back to Earth was not easy and Hallie trying to prove herself to be a career woman was done well. I’ve never read a book featuring an astronaut before and it was cute to see Hallie’s and Chris friendship grow. As a dual POV we got to see both sides of their thoughts. A very enjoyable read!

I kinda wish this book had more spice but that’s just me because I love it. 🤣

A Cosmic Kind of Love by Samantha Young was the fun and lighthearted read I needed right now. Hallie and Christopher are so different from each other but could not be more perfect for the other as well. I loved how they met, were drawn to each other and supportive they were. Each was dealing with their own personal issues. Chris is smart, successful, and trying to find this way. Hallie is smart and funny, but also likes to please others. I loved their journey so much. This was a sweet and delightful slow burning story with great characters.

Happy reading!

A Cosmic Kind Of Love is a romantic comedy featuring an astronaut hero.

Hallie is an event planner. Chris is an astronaut. The way that these two first get to know each other is epic!

This book features witty banter and such a great romance.

There are family issues galore (I can't even believe both of their parents)! And the book features two of my favorite characters ever. Chris' Aunt Richelle and Hallie's best friend Althea.

I've never read a rom-com with an astronaut hero. This book was funny and sexy. It was so good! What a gorgeous cover and a perfect romance. I definitely recommend this book!

Mr Nice Guy
Cutest meet
Parents and exes

This read was such a fantastic package of a contemporary romance and it featured the lesser heralded 'good guy' trope; a trope I happen to love. Chris (Mr Nice Guy) seemed all things authentic. He was a little lost, a bit of a hero, he had true partner potential but some complicated family and work background. Hallie was a small bombshell in heels, warm and lacking in self esteem.

I really appreciated the crappy parents storyline in this book. I think we read much more of that in YA and NA fiction but not when there's older MCs. And yet...having a complex and difficult parent situation myself I know that this issue can run through adulthood, so this felt so real to me to read. Hallie and Chris bonded over this but it also brought complications.

I loved their initial non-meet, followed by their meet cute and their friendship but boy did they have bucket loads of tension and connection. I bought into their attraction and feelings while appreciating the time things took. I side eyed Darcy from front to back.

This was a gorgeous escapist read, with great characterisation, solid and fresh plot that kept me in full enjoyment mode. Highly recommended.

Thank you to Berkley and the author for the early review copy.

I loved this one. An astronaut who is coming to terms with being back on Earth and who tries to keep out from under the thumb of his influential and imposing NYC new money/society father meets a hardworking and successful event planner who struggles with losing herself due to her people pleasing ways. It seems like they come from different worlds—see what I did there with the astronaut and “different worlds” comment???—but while they may not be perfect themselves, they are perfect for each other.

When event planner Hallie stumbles upon extra content in the online drive shared by a bride, she knows she should look away, but there’s something about the video diary recordings from the bride’s ex-boyfriend Chris, an astronaut who served on the International Space Station, that holds Hallie’s attention.

Feeling guilty about watching Chris’s recordings, Hallie records her own video diary entry and sends it to NASA. And Chris, well, he is intrigued by what he sees.

They learn so much about each other via video, but what will happen when they meet face-to-face?

Buckle up for a slow burn with epistolary romance vibes, familial baggage, and personal growth arcs. I adored Chris as Hallie’s champion, Hallie asserting herself, best friend Althea, and the wingman antics of Bandit, an Old English sheepdog.

Pick up A Cosmic Kind of Love and get swept away in the story of Hallie and Chris’s cosmic connection.

Hallie and Chris meet through his ex girlfriend, when Hallie is planning her engagement party. Loved both characters and that it is told from both points of view.

I listened to the audiobook, and the two narrators did an excellent job. The book is told in dual points of view and the alternating chapters and narrators helped support this.

Hallie and Chris have a cosmic connection. Hallie is an event planner and accidentally sees (and loves) videos that Chris, an astronaut, made for an ex-girlfriend (for whom Hallie is event planning) while he was in space. Hallie feels awful and sends an apology video to Chris (he's now back in firm ground). When it bounces back she keeps sending videos, not realizing Chris might actually be getting them. This is definitely a unique meet cute. 😊

They do meet up at an event Hallie has planned and sparks fly. That said, this is as much Hallie and Chris's own journeys as it is their relationship journey. I love when characters have their own stuff to resolve- Hallie and Chris are both stuck for different reasons and trying to figure out what comes next. Each of their families are involved and there's a theme of trying to meet your family's needs while staying true to yourself. In the midst of this they meet each other and really connect and it's easy to lose themselves in the relationship. But maybe not healthy (this felt so real). I appreciate that we get some of the hard work involved in maintaining a relationship and the mistakes that are easy to make. And I appreciated their growth and connection as a couple. There are side characters to love and side characters you'll love to hate. There are also lots of scenes that made me laugh. Mostly, I appreciate how they kept trying and didn't give up.

Thank to the publisher for an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

Chris and Hallie were so cute! I absolutely loved so much how much they cared for eachother after not knowing eachother so long, they are everything🥹 The storyline with the parents honestly hurt my heart but I’m satisfied with how it turned out! with the exception of one parent 😒 also just want to point out how cute the introduction to eachother was!! I would definitely recommend!

I was really drawn to the book from just the cover art. I hadn't read anything from Samantha Young, but I was definitely interested in this book. It was easy to read, fun & light-hearted with relatable main characters who have relatable issues/problems. I love that while there was small jealousy/hurt feeling moments, they both made the effort to share their concerns and communicate pretty well. It was a sweet romance with some spice at the end that was the icing on the cake. I would definitely recommend this book to my Booksta friends and anyone who enjoys reading romance books.

"Space is the last thing an event planner and an astronaut need in this charming new romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Samantha Young."

This was a very fun and cute friends-to-lovers rom-com. I really loved the unique meet-cute in this book. Such a good idea! I loved the chemistry between Hallie and Christopher, it was hot hot hot. I also LOVE how much you see Hallie grow throughout the book. I am a supporter for all characters with pink hair, forever <3

The "will they or wont they" trope kept me turning the page. It was done very well. I found myself relating to Hallie and how she felt throughout the book, even if the circumstances were different than mine, especially when she deals with relationship anxiety/insecurities. Its so nice seeing those emotions explored.

If you love friends-to-lovers and hot astronauts, I definitely recommend this book!

This book was very cute, A bit of a slow start but once you see Christopher and Hallie's interactions you fall in love with them. The penpal idea is always a plus, and who doesn't love a hot astronaut? Overall, very enjoyable romcom with all the things we love, laughter, shared interest and a little bit of book magic.

OMG!
WHERE DO I BEGIN?
Well I read a wonderful love story called
A Cosmic Kind of Love by Samantha Young... ❤️

Hallie Goodman is a successful event planner who didn't expect to get more than some inspiration material from the bride of her current wedding project.
Besides said material, Hallie finds some private videos of the bride's ex-boyfriend - the astronaut Christopher Ortiz.
She can't deny her curiosity and... there's definitely some kind of attraction too.
But will curiosity kill the cat? Or what'll Hallie do?
Read this book to find out mooooore! You won't regret it! 😍

So when I started this book it definitely started some kind of addiction inside of me.
I couldnt stop myself from devouring the story of Hallie and Chris!
I'm a huge fan of Samantha Young's books and this standalone is another great one! 🤗
I sympathised with Hallie from the beginning and definitely hoped for her personal HEA!
I never read a love story where the male main character was an astronaut! This was a pleasant experience and really interesting too! I could totally imagine what's going on over there... high above the sky. Up in space.
Hallie and Chris meet in a special kind of way and that's what I loved about it too. No usual meet-cute. 😉
Soooo talking about a really handsome astronaut... Christopher Ortiz is just.... OMG!
Absolutely cuuuute and charming!
But not every life is so picture-perfect as it may seems. Chris' relationship to his father isn't the best and he's struggling with important life decisions...
And even Hallie has her issues... She has to deal with her really stressful parents and many more stuff.
Buuuut it was lovely to see how both dealt with their stuff and how their relationship developed. ❤️
Hallie and Chris seem like they're completely different, but at the same time they've so many things in common. This makes the love story of them so emotional and special to me.
Next to a fabulous chemistry between them there's much more in this book.
There are a lot of funny moments because Hallie is such a cute character you just have to fall in love with!
There are so many emotional moments too. Well I definitely needed some tissues! So be prepared! 😥
And there is a lot... a loooot of sizzling passion and chemistry and attraction - OMG ROMANCE!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
So if you love all these kinds of things in a book - A Cosmic Kind of Love is the one for you.

Thank you so much to Valentine PR and Samantha Young for this ARC via NetGalley.
This is my honest review in my own words.

A Cosmic Kind of Love is such a cute read. I loved this one so much. I could not get enough of Hallie and Chris. Hallie is a sweetheart and a bit of a people pleasure. She has been stuck in the middle of her parents for as long as she can remember. She is amazing at her job even though those around her put her down about it. Chris is an astronaut who is trying to figure out what he wants out of life. He is a bit lost, but he is just so amazing. There is this wonderful connection between Hallie and Chris that will just make you heart go pitter patter. I love how honest Hallie and Chris are with each other. They build each other up to be better even when forces are trying to tear them down. I'm just so in love with Chris and Hallie. This book will pull you in, make you giggle and own your heart all the way through. You need to meet Chris and Hallie today.

This is such a gorgeous read! Sweet, fun, sexy and intense, it’s an emotional friends-to-lovers romance with characters that you cannot help but love, and I was captivated from start to finish.

Hallie is an events co-ordinator who is planning high-society wedding events for a new client. When she is accidentally sent videos from the bride’s ex-boyfriend, astronaut Christopher Ortiz from when he was on the space station, she is absolutely mesmerised. She knows it’s wrong to watch them, but she can’t help but be drawn to the gorgeous man on the video as he talks about his life and his experiences in space. She ends up sending her own video back to him, and even though it bounces, ‘talking’ to Chris felt good so she just keeps on doing it, even though her emails aren’t going anywhere. But it turns out her videos are being delivered, Chris is watching them, and he’s just as entranced with Hallie and the stories of her life. He knows he has to meet her.

Through conversations that they don’t know the other has seen, they get to know each other. So by the time they actually meet, they’re already half in love, and sparks fly from their very first encounter. They quickly become friends, sharing even more about their lives, Hallie’s issues with her almost chronic need to please others, and Chris feeling completely lost now that he’s back from space with his whole life ahead of him. Plus they’re both dealing with some pretty significant family issues. They are there for each other, supporting and encouraging each other, and they truly 'get' each other. All the while falling harder and harder for each other, and I loved watching it happen!

"I wanted to belong to Hallie as much as I wanted her to belong to me."

And after epic build-up, a whole lot of will-they/won’t-they, and epic sexual tension, the romance comes, and it was everything that I was hoping for. It’s sweet and passionate with so much heart, it feels real, and develops so naturally. I loved these two together, and was in a world of swoony bliss right along with them.

“I love you.” My words were hoarse, gruff with the depth of the emotion. “I am so in love with you.”

The issues that Hallie and Chris are going through personally play out really beautifully in the book. We can see the influence that they are having on each other’s lives as they grow, deal with their issues and figure out where they want to be, and it’s such a satisfying journey for both of them. There is some drama that comes with that, but it make sense to the story and it’s handled brilliantly as a continuation of them sorting themselves out, and I loved watching them find their HEA.

“Being yours…that’s the only thing in my life I am one hundred percent certain I want and need to be.”

I loved this book. It’s that wonderful mix of humour, heart, passionate romance and emotion that Sam Young writes so well. I felt so much for these characters, I enjoyed every moment of their story, and finished the book with a big grin on my face.

This was my second book by Samantha Young and both have been incredible. This book had my heart soaring, squeezing, and aching for more.

I personally loved Hallie and Chris. Hallie is the misunderstood, eccentric woman who is brave and outspoken and worthy of everything in life, and Chris is a man who has gone above and beyond in accomplishing his goals, but has yet to spend any real time contemplating his personal life.

Young took the concept of a meet-cute to a whole new level in this book. These two characters end up meeting after indirectly meeting one another through recorded videos that had been sent to one another, partially by accident. I have never seen a meet-cute quite like this one, and it’s easily one of my favorites.

I love how honest they are with one another (even if they struggle to come clean about everything). I love how down to earth they are, how they aren’t afraid to strive for what they want and deserve in life, but how they are both wanting to make others happy in the world, too. These two characters not only have phenomenal chemistry, but they have a friendship that truly shines and brings out the best in one another and to be able to see that in the pages of this book was inspiring. I wanted to be friends with these two. And I never wanted their story to end.

Chris and Hallie's story is a delight. I can't wait to share it with my library patrons. A fresh plot, great characters and a riveting slow burn in pacing combine for a terrific read!

This was SO CUTE!! And I, too, am in love with Capt. Christopher Ortiz!! I really loved that the conflict was more about feelings and making the other person realize that all people’s feelings matter in a relationship. It wasn’t super heavy on the miscommunication, which I feel is SO GREAT. That’s a little bit overdone, and communicating is so so important in any relationship! Highly recommended!
