I would have probably read this book way too quick if I wasn’t in a reading slump but I enjoyed it so much. I especially love how despite having plenty of opportunities the miscommunication trope was no where to be scene. That in itself had me loving the story, Hallie and Chris talked after every argument and I love appreciated that immensely. I also love how they bantered and got along in general, they had chemistry on every level and really seemed to get along. The video diary aspect was a cute element that was a great start to the story. The fact that they brought out the best of each other and helped them work through past traumas is always a bonus for me. Althea and Aunt Richelle were also awesome side characters.

This was definitely different than any other book I have read. I was a bit deceived by the cutesy cover with the more complex story in between the pages but honestly I am not complaining. I think that this book was really unique and overall a nice balance between a traditional romance but also a more complex drama.

Another fun one from Samantha Young! I will say I found this one very slow burn compared to her typical style but I did really enjoy the friends to lovers trope she developed. Brief side note that Hallie's parent situation hit way too close to home for me as my parents did the exact same thing so kudos to Samantha Young for making this hyper realistic for me! I look forward to reading more from her in the future!

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!

I love how fun this story is! A fun feel good rom-com. An event planner, Hallie, falls for a former astronaut, Chris, through videos. Alternating between Hallie and Chris’ perspectives, we get to listen to each one falling for one another while also navigating stressful aspects of their lives (including dealing with parents and balancing their jobs). This book captures what it’s like when you have a crush and won’t make a move. The yearning and the butterflies. Overall, a lovely romance

4 stars

After reading so many romance novels, I get kinda happy when someone writes a story with an interesting premise or in this case, an interesting way of getting two people together. Right from the start, this had a fresh approach to how two people might meet each other and I liked it.

There were some slight stumbles with plot lines that sort of fell flat but overall the story was buoyed by the way these two characters were brought together that I didn't mind so much.

The writing had a "seasoned" feel to it. It didn't dwell heavily on lusty attraction nor did it dive into clichés. The characters were a bit older and it showed in the writing, both of which I found refreshing.

I really enjoyed listening to A Cosmic Kind Of Love by Samantha Young. This book features party planner Hallie Goodman who has bright pink hair. She receives essentially a google drive for party inspiration from a client named Darcy. However, the drive contains a folder with videos from Darcy's ex, astronaut Christopher Ortiz. Hallie watches all the videos and feels terrible after. So, she sends a video to Chris's email but it bounces. And then she sends more. Unbeknownst to Hallie, her videos are forwarded to Chris who ends up very charmed by her. Eventually the two meet in real life and the chemistry is just out of this world. But there's all kinds of factors that could pull them apart.

A Cosmic Kind Of Love by Samantha Young was genuinely fun to read. It's a light, easy book. This was exactly what I needed while I have been so stressed and overwhelmed. Reading it truly was a comfort. I liked both Hallie and Chris as characters. Their romance and chemistry made sense. The side plots made sense as well. As for the narration, the audiobook has two narrators -- Andi Arndt and Noah B. Perez. It is 11 hours and 22 minutes long. The narration is impeccable. I just really HIGHLY recommend listening to this one if you're feeling in the rom com kind of mood.

An event planner in New York City, Hallie knows how to give clients the exact ambiance they desire while charming the staff. She’s excellent at the high-pressure job, even though her family remains disparaging. One thing she has been unable to do it stand up for herself or establish boundaries. Her people-pleasing nature is too strong. That very trait makes her able to handle the competing interests of high-society Darcy and her French fiancé. When Darcy sends Hallie a folder of wedding ideas, she inadvertently includes videos from her ex-boyfriend recorded when he was an astronaut stationed on the ISS.

Even knowing that it’s an invasion of privacy, Darcy can’t stop watching the appealing Christopher. Frustrated with her own situation, she decides to record her own video diary and send to his NASA email address. Though the email bounces, she continues to videotape her deepest thoughts, thinking they were going off into the ether. In fact, Christopher received them from the IT tech at NASA and watched them, finding Hallie as appealing on screen as she did him.

When they finally meet in person, they each have to figure out how to admit watching what they believed were private videos. Additionally, both must address the obstacles presented by their families to learn how to establish boundaries so they are not taken advantage of or manipulated. Without solving their individual problems, their relationship may be adrift before liftoff!

Hallie drove me crazy since it seemed she let people walk all over her; however, I think this is a case of hating in others that thing you hate in yourself. And there wouldn’t be much of a book if she didn’t start out with a character flaw. Christopher was almost too-good-to-be-true but quite naïve when considering other people’s motives. The book had some loveable secondary characters and some very awful villains. Individual character growth and its importance to relationships is key to this novel; the romance itself is pretty slow-burn without incendiary conflict. Part of that is the good communication between the characters which I appreciated. Also: cute dog!

Samantha Young is one of the most enjoyable contemporary authors I've read, and this is another win for her. The premise of this romance is creative and different, yet still in the realm of realism (just barely!) It's a fun read, but I would give a reader a heads-up that this has a lot of triggering topics and deals with parental abuse and a few other heavier topics. While that wasn't an issue for me, it might be more of a problem for those looking for pure escapism without much drama. The end wasn't my favorite but the rest of the book made up for it.

Hallie is an event coordinator, not to be confused with a party planner, and she seems to have all these crazy things happen to her. She is surrounded by parents putting her in the middle of their divorce, a boyfriend (or should I say ex boyfriend) that doesn’t treat her right, and is just down on her luck. Then she accidentally watches some personal video diaries of Christopher Ortiz, an astronaut that is all over social media. Then she has the crazies idea of all…to send him a video of herself.

Hallie and Chris have such a sweet and tender relationship. It starts off with youve got mail vibes with Chris watching all the videos that Hallie sends him, and he has to meet her. Then it becomes a sweet strangers to friends to lovers romance. I loved all the deep talks they shared right away, they found themselves with each other, and while there were a few bumps in the road at the end they still found a way to talk it out. I love their views on the world, toxic relationships, how to put yourself first sometimes, and really just everything about them.

I haven’t read a really good book in a bit, and I’m so thankful this got me out of a 2-3 star reading slump. It was funny, insightful, a little spicy, and just what I needed to read! So sad I put it off and didn’t enjoy it sooner!

Samantha Young is great at writing plots that, while trope-y, still feel new. At times, I felt like I was watching this book, because it fits well with popular romantic comedies. I loved the video diaries that both characters recorded and sent, and I could see the intention behind each character. And who doesn't love a pink-haired heroine?

This book was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I had so much reading this little space romance about a girl with pink hair and a boy who has the weight of world's expectations placed on him by his father. This was such a fun little romance to read, and I'll definitely be picking up more of Samantha Young's books in the future!

Well this is a major disappointment for me. 4 book in a row and none made an impact or impression on me. This a solid 2 star book and maybe if it had a better chemistry between characters I would enjoyed it more. Oh well.

*This book was given to me by NetGalley in return for an honest review*

Don't let the colorful cover fool you, this one's a heavy hitter. A slow-burn friends to lovers focusing on several tough topics. I love Samantha Young and look forward to everything she writes, she has a way of writing her characters so multidimensional and this was no exception.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for providing the ARC.

This book was so sweet and tender that I couldn't help from falling in love. I thought the premise was very interesting, about two random people coming together in the most unlikely of ways, but really it was more about how they found each other right when the other needed them the most.

The book is well-written, even if it is a bit cliche. But overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

When was the last time you read about an astronaut and an event planner falling in love? A Cosmic Kind of Love is just that story and is a must read!

Hallie mistakenly receives personal videos sent by Captain Christopher Ortiz to his girlfriend while he’s stationed on the NASA International Space Station. She views them. More than once. Becomes absolutely fascinated by the astronaut never thinking she would meet him in person! Then guilt sets in so she sends HIM a video apologizing for viewing his personal thoughts intended for another. Chris instructs Hailee’s email to be bounced back. . .but he secretly watches it and then Hailee starts sending him videos with her personal thoughts figuring no one would see them since they bounce back. But Chris does see them and becomes fascinated with Hailee. He finds a way to meet her in person….by attending his ex girlfriend, Darcy’s, engagement party that Hailee is organizing! Let the unlikely “love story” begin.

I loved everything about this pair. They both have difficult relationships with their parents and Chris struggling with his controlling father’s acceptance is heartbreaking. Him wanting to know about his Mexican heritage is a wonderful story in itself and Hailee in the middle of her divorced parents’ squabbling is frustrating at times because you want to shake her! But as she grows closer to Chris, he helps her become more self assured and a bit less of a people pleaser to everyone all the time.

There’s continual drama with Chris’ ex, Darcy, Chris struggling with trying to figure out his future, Hailee’s growth as a person, and there’s consistent support for them from Chris’ amazing Aunt Richelle and Hailee’s best friend and work colleague, Alethea. There’s also some humor in Hailee’s mother’s antics. All in all, this story is a fabulous read and this couple will own your heart.

Cute story. The idea of the astronaut's videos is very original. I wanted more meat! It was pretty predictable and not angsty like the On Dublin Street series.

As a huge Samantha Young fan, I was excited to read A Cosmic Kind of Love, but I was especially grateful that I was able to listen to the audiobook courtesy of @prhaudio, which is seriously amazing. Narrated by Andi Arndt and Noah B. Perez, A Cosmic Kind of Love follows the unlikely love story between an event planner and an astronaut who connected through happenstance, yet forged an out-of-this-world connection.

After opening the wrong file on her client’s hard drive, Hallie Goodman comes across a series of videos sent from astronaut, Christopher Ortiz, to his former girlfriend while he was in space. Intrigued by the handsome, eloquent astronaut, Hallie finds herself getting to know more about Chris with each video, although her guilt over invading his privacy prompts her to send a video message of her own. When it seems like her confession doesn’t reach it’s intended audience, Hallie decides to continue making video diaries of her daily life, and sending them off into the ether. But Chris is actually getting every message, enjoying the pink-haired event planner’s wildly entertaining stories about her messy, chaotic life - a fact that Hallie isn’t aware of when they finally come face to face…

With one of the most unconventional meet cutes I’ve come across, A Cosmic Kind of Love is a delightful, imaginative rom-com with multifaceted characters who are in the process of discovering who they are and what they want when it comes to life and love. While Hallie has her share of insecurities along with an inability to say “no”, Chris is at a crossroads in his career, struggling with deciding his next step. Not to mention, both Hallie and Chris find themselves navigating the muddy waters of familial drama. Each is on a sort of journey of self-discovery, but it’s their budding romance and growing connection that provides them with the strength and bravery to pursue their passions.

At its core, A Cosmic Kind of Love is an emotionally compelling, gripping love story, with characters and a narrative that had me riveted to each page. Samantha Young’s writing is both beautifully expressive and easily digestible, and I devoured the book in record time. The audiobook gave the story added dimension as Andi Arndt and Noah B. Perez brought Hallie and Chris to life. Andi Arndt has this clear, evocative delivery that makes it easy to empathize with Hallie, while Noah B. Perez could’ve read his grocery list in his low, raspy drawl, and I would’ve been perfectly satisfied.

If you’re in the mood for a rom-com with plenty of humor, steam, and heart, A Cosmic King of Love will have you smiling and swooning from start to finish. I definitely recommend adding it to your TBR list! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐

This is one of my favorite books of the year. It is a masterful read with an interesting and unique premise. Hallie and Chris were both easy to root for characters and I loved seeing them fight their own challenges to grow in order to be together. And they deal with some pretty manipulative villains as well.
This is the kind of book that makes you fall in love with falling in love.
This is my favorite Samantha Young book I’ve read so far and I absolutely adored getting to know and live Hallie and Chris.

This is my first Samantha Young novel and I enjoyed the astronaut/event planner theme. Opposites attract are always fun to read.

Hallie Goodman is an event planner and people pleaser. A good combo for her job, but not her personal life. Her parents are a trainwreck with their divorce from hell as they place her smack dab in the middle without regard for her mental health and well-being. And her ex disrespects her job and said he was embarrassed by her. How humiliating is that? Then along comes one of her unusual situations where she accidentally opens some videos from a client only to be mesmerized by the man in the camera.

Captain Christopher Ortiz is an Air Force test pilot and a United States astronaut. He has worked hard to be where he is and now that he is retiring from the Air Force and back from his time in space, he is at loose ends. His arrogant and controlling father is no help as he points out Chris’s lack of motivation, but Chris became an astronaut not because it was his dream, but because it was his late brother’s dream. Now he needs to do something for himself…but what? Enter the cute, quirky woman with pink hair who admitted to watching the personal videos sent to his girlfriend. No, not that kind of video…his daily diary when he was on the International Space Station.

Both of these characters are so thoughtful and kind. Hallie’s awkward situations are hilarious and best of all she takes it in stride. It’s who she is. Her kind and generous nature make her the target of people who take advantage of her, namely her ungrateful, childish, selfish parents. My parents went through a nasty divorce like that and I cringe as they put her in the middle. Something my older sister can relate to. I like Hallie because even though people treat her poorly, it doesn’t skew her outlook on life. Chris is just as kind with his protectiveness of Hallie and his encouragement and respect for her and her career. It’s his support and advice that helps her confront her parents. He’s actually a bit like Hallie when he’s too nice and gives people the benefit of the doubt such as Darcy, his cheating ex-girlfriend and Hallie’s client, and especially his unloving father who continues to try and control his life. It’s his obsession with the adorable and understanding Hallie that brings out the lovely boyfriend material this man empowers. Yes, he does screw up once they go from friends to lovers, but his lovely heartfelt apology at the airport is well worth waiting for and gave me the feels.

My favorite supporting character has to be Althea. I love her feistiness and unfailing support for her colleague, Hallie. I also adore Chris’s, Aunt Richelle. She’s kind and encouraging and gives him memorable advice. She’s also the parent figure he needs with his mother gone and his nasty father trying to control his life. Hallie’s parents are extremely unlikable at first, but they finally take responsibility for their fuck ups and come through for her. As for Chris’s father…I don’t see him changing.

I am delighted to recommend this funny, thought-provoking romance with well-developed characters and an interesting theme. I learned a lot about astronauts.

Thank you to Ms. Young for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
