This book had me apprehensive at first, thanks to the synopsis. Was there going to be catfishing? A weird power dynamic thanks to essentially one character secretly falling for the other thanks to their diary entries? IS THIS A MODER DEAR DADDY LONG LEGS?!!!
But, I was actually so surprised by how well this story and the conflict and dynamic worked. There wasn’t an instant love, but rather a quick growth towards admiration and appreciation that morphed into love. The conflict felt realistic and was handled maturely and it wasn’t painful for the reader to get through.
We have a hot space hero who is grappling with his future now that he is back on earth and a people pleasing and kind pink hair event coordinator who accidentally gained access to his space video diary.
I loved watching these two form an attachment (especially when we got both POVS) and felt like their happily for now was entirely realistic. Plus that cover? Perfection! Oh, and the steak? WORTH IT. Start slow and then wham bam.
Definitely recommend the audio and think this would be perfect for non-romance-loving readers too!
This is my first book by Samantha Young and I gotta say that I loved her writing style and the book is really good. I mean, what’s not to love? A relatable heroine, an astronaut, a cute dog and good chemistry are the perfect combo.
‘A cosmic kind of love’ has an ideal pace, you root for the couple every step of the way, we have some great side characters and you get to see some character development as the story goes on.
I had a big smile on my face the entire time I was reading it and now I too would like an astronaut for myself 🫶🏼
This was a wonderful surprise and I would recommend it instantly if you’re looking for a good rom-com to read💛

This was just so bad. I was really looking forward to reading this, but I don't even where to start with what went wrong for me. The half Mexican love interest who conveniently doesn't have any knowledge of his history felt like an easy way for a non-Hispanic woman to write a diverse character, especially when we get to find out that his grandparents were murdered in Mexico (and that's the only mention of it). It felt racist. And there were just so many bad tropes. The Dad who tries to pay someone off? The ex girlfriend who wants him back for seemingly no reason? Ugh. I finished this and wish I hadn't.
Hallie, An event coordinator, stumbles across a folder in a clients google drive that was not meant to be seen by her. But once she opens the first video, she is intrigued by Darcie’s ex boyfriend Chris. These Vlogs were filmed in space during Captain Christopher Ortiz’s mission on the ISS. The more of them she watches, the more she feels like she knows him.
After an extremely rough day, Hallie gets a crazy idea and ends up sending a Vlog back to the email address in the correspondence. But what she doesn’t know, despite the kick back emails she gets… the videos have been sent to Chris.
YOU GUYS.. I am in awe of this story. The communication through every step of the way between Hallie and Chris… probably the best I’ve ever experienced as a reader.
Both characters had their flaws, but helped each other realize their potential. Whether it was through family issues, self worth, or their careers.
I was also right there with Hallie crushing hard on the captain!!! There were so many emotional, tender moments and banter and tension filled ones! This was the best of both worlds.
This book NEEDS to be added to your TBR list!

This book isn’t bad, I just struggled to connect with the story and characters. I love Samantha Young, so I’m sure I’ll get back to this eventually. It’s just not what I’m in the mood for right now. Also, I was 24% into the book and the MCs hadn’t even met yet :/
An edge of your seat exciting journey from beginning to end. Highly entertaining, emotionally thrilling, sweetly sexy and action-packed romantic adventure filled with desire, the struggle for true love and passion.
I loved the dual POV of this book. i felt like it really helped the story progress. this book was really fun and i LOVE reading about event planners. I got so stressed during this book but i still really enjoyed it. I really liked both of the main characters and the plot was super fun and quick to read.

I enjoyed this sweet contemporary romance. The writing flowed and it was easy to switch from each first-person viewpoint. Chris was the astronaut yet didn’t have the cockiness that I thought he would have. He was likeable with a vulnerability that I found endearing. Hallie was not only an over-the-top people pleaser, she was also a magnet for mayhem. Despite seeming a bit immature at times, it made me chuckle. They were each successful in their careers while being unsure of their futures. In other words….normal. They made a lovely couple.
I enjoyed watching their relationship grow into a sexy romance. Nothing felt rushed or forced. There were some predictable parts that made my eyes roll (especially her parents), however it did not ruin the story for me. Overall, it is a feel-good and charming romance.

This book wasn't like anything I've ever read before! I thoroughly enjoyed having the hero, Chris be an astronaut. It was so fun reading about him being in space. And Hallie I just loved everything about her. She was awkward and got herself into hilarious situations and it was just so refreshing to not have this perfect person. We all have those moments we relive in our minds for eternity and she just went with it. I loved how these two met and their instant connection and chemistry once they saw each other in person. Their relationship although not perfect was built out of trust and believing in one another and I adored how much they built each other up. Their parents leave much to be desired and they were hard pills to swallow. Luckily, they don't hold too much attention as the book goes on. This book was a slice of pie and I truly enjoyed the cosmic ride Samantha takes us on!

Samatha Young has a very unique way of presenting her stories. She has been groundbreaking in the past, and with this new book, she actually looks to the heavens for inspiration.
We have had many a book with one of the main characters being a wedding planner. It makes sense we would see this woman researching all she could about her bride and her relationship in order to make the wedding everything the bride wants. But this time, Samantha Young has our gal going through videos the bride gave her and sees videos of the ex-boyfriend who just happens to be an astronaut on NASA's space station. She thinks he is amazing and decides to send him videos he will never receive, a way of just letting go of all the crazy she has to deal with day in and day out...
What could be the harm, no one would ever see them, right...
Surprise, our guy does and we get a very special romance.
What a sweet and creative story from the always charming Samantha Young! This one had me grinning from ear to ear, with a love story that is out-of-this-world adorable, loads of laughs, and a connection so deep is rivals the galaxy.
The premise of this is just so darn fun and unique- our heroine Hallie, an event planner gets accidental videos of her client’s ex. An ex who just so happens to be an astronaut in literal outer space. The charisma and charm of the Nasa astronaut Chris is so undeniable that Hallie can’t help but send him videos back, videos that escalate into so much more than strangers.
It’s like NASA-romance (is that a thing? It should be) meets mistaken identity meets penpals meets slow burn rom com. I loved how these cute videos helped these two get to know each other and build such an authentic and sustainable connection- one that translates so nicely outside of the screen when these two meet and are able to explore their chemistry outside of their virtual bubble. They’re clearly soulmates- and it’s just so ridiculously swoony that I couldn’t help but sigh with contented glee. What starts as a cute interaction develops into a deep bond where they help each other work through their baggage with their careers and families and ex’s. And we have some really endearing secondary characters that make this story all the more rich and lovable.
Samantha Young always writes stories that so endearingly build characters with complexity who somehow in the least place they expect fall into a love with the person they were meant to find. Hallie and Chris are just that- soulmates that shine brighter than the stars. I loved watching them fall in love and figure it out- it was cosmically heartwarming.
There was something(s) about this book that just didn’t do it for me.
The relationship between the characters felt a little too cookie-cutter, which is really saying something since they were an astronaut and a high-end party planner, job careers you run into every day. The main issue, I believe, that this story didn't work for me was because nothing really happened. Some authors can do this type of story well, but unfortunately, it didn't work for this version.
That combined with a meet-cute that made me feel a little iffy, and a few unanswered plot points drives the rating of this book down for me. I've enjoyed Samantha Young books in the past, but this one isn't moving to the top of that list.
A Cosmic Kind of Love is a sweet romance set in NYC and sometimes on the International. Space Station. I always come back to Samantha Young for a slow, rich romance and this one didn't disappoint.
The cover for this is so cute and I thought it would be just the fun, light, read I was looking for. Alas, it didn't grab me in the opening. Maybe I'll give it another chance in the future, but for now, there are more exciting looking reads to turn my attention to.
This book was so cute. I'm not used to light and cute romcoms from Samantha Young but this one is totally worth the read. I loved that it wasn't too heavy or too awkward. I love a good romcom but I can't read something that is too embarrassing for the characters. Thankfully this was just the right amount to keep it comical. Both of the main protagonists were fun and complicated characters and their friends-to-lovers story was unexpected but so cute. I hope the author writes more about these characters or others in the future.
When event planner Hallie gets files of inspiration from one of her brides, the last thing she expects to find are videos from the bride’s ex. But because she’s curious she watches them, and finds the astronaut behind them to be funny and cute. She decided to email and send video diaries of her own to his discontinued NASA email, but what she doesn’t realize is Chris is watching every single one. Despite never meeting or speaking directly to each other, they each find themselves very attracted to the other. But will that attraction translate to real life?
This book was SO CUTE. It is definitely one of the top romances I’ve read this year. Both Hallie and Chris were incredibly wonderful characters. They felt so real and there were so many layers to them. They both were in challenging stages of life, and I was rooting for each of them for different reasons.
It’s no secret I adore romances with depth. Books that give me the warm, fuzzy, happy emotions of love but also delve into more serious topics and get deep and emotional. This book was the perfect example of that. These characters had a lot going on and some pretty major family issues to work through. Seeing how they evolved throughout the book was a beautiful journey, and seeing how they ultimately supported each other was amazing. This book left me with a smile on my face.
Thanks to Berkley Publishing for the advance copy. Thank you to @berittalksbooks and @dg_reads for the buddy read!
I'm not mad at this character at all. She's totally relatable and there are people as quirky as her in reality there are! I've seen some other reviews stating that they couldn't believe this woman because she gets into some pretty comedic situations but that literally only lasts for a bit until the romance takes off and that's where I find my issues.
Ok, I totally thought this dude was gonna be in actual space sending mail to our herione a la you've got mail style but no. It's stated pretty early in one of his letters that he has 16 weeks left in space and that letter was a year old. So quick math and you know that he's actually back on earth.
And the letters weren't even to this chick with bubblegum pink hair, they were to his ex gf who happens to hire pink hair to plan her engagement party to another guy and accidentally sends the video letters to her planner thru cloud because we all know that happens so often.
Anyways, I wasn't a fan of the whole ex plotline especially with later events and uncalled for drama towards the end.
I was a fan of the Mexican astronaut rep. (Not own voices) and the quirky nature to everything that is our power couple.
Also, last note but these parents of these two love birds....yeah they suck.
Received an advanced reader copy from valentine pr for an honest review.
And I knew I was going to love this book from the cover alone. And baby it didn't disappoint.
This book made me feel seen in ways I hadn't thought of.
Its a sweet and hilarious love story. Where Hallie Goodman is a dreamer, hard working but people pleaser. When planning for an event she find videos of a gorgeous astronaut. And like any nosy woman watched and fell in love.
who would think she would meet him at her event.
I absolutely loved watching them love and encourage each other through life's hardships. It really made putting the book down extremely hard.
As this was the first time reading this author . I can say it definitely will not be the las
This book was too long and I was not happy with one character not being honest with the other. It just missed the mark for me. Loved that the character was a an astronaut though - that was cool.
Thanks to NetGalley for sending me this book. I've been a huge fan of Samantha young for a very long time. I did enjoy this as they deal with some family issues but sometimes it had me laughing.
