This was so cute! It was really different from other romances I've read recently and that was so refreshing. Hallie and Christopher were so sweet and I thought the circumstances of their relationship was new and exciting. Can we please get more astronaut romances? I think the author tried to make Hallie a little too quirky and it ended up falling a little flat for me, but other than that I really don't have any complaints. I was especially happy that this wasn't another teeny-tiny-smallest-of-small woman and huge-giant-muscles-for-days-man kind of romance.

Event planner Hallie is mistakenly sent videos from her client’s ex-boyfriend Chris that he made when he was an astronaut in space. Hallie watches all the videos and loves them, but then realizes she has invaded Chris’ privacy. To make it up to him, she makes confessional videos of herself to send back. When the two meet at a party for her client, sparks fly right away and the two fall into an easy friendship.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it forever, Samantha Young is one of my favorite authors and I’ll read anything she writes. Does it mean I love everything she writes? No. But I love that she tries new things and delivers different experiences to her readers. This book wasn’t fleshed out really well, it was slow in the beginning and then rushed in the middle to end. There was a lot that had to do with toxic parents that I wish had been better resolved by the end of the book.

Overall I liked this book, but I almost quit reading halfway through and it left me feeling unsatisfied by the ending. And I wasn’t rooting for this couple to make it, they annoyed me for most of the book.

3 ⭐️ A cute, low-stakes rom-com

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ astronaut MMC
✨ party planner FMC
✨ crush to client to friend to lover
✨ a little bit of spice
✨ toxic families
✨ other woman drama (no cheating)
✨ third act ‘break-up’
✨ HEA

I actually really liked the story. The premise was super cute. The characters were interesting. I thought the video messages were a creative way to bring the couple together. And Aunt Richelle and Althea are the real MVPs! Absolutely adore them and their support of the MCs!

My main issue was that I didn't enjoy the family drama, which besides the romance, was the entire focus of the story. Chris and Hallie get together relatively quickly, so once that happened, the story fell a little flat romance-wise. And at that point, it felt like Chris and Hallie's issues with their parents, as well as Chris' identity crisis, are what pushed the plot forward. Of course, characters need something to struggle with, but I hated how both Chris and Hallie allowed people who have repeatedly treated them like garbage to affect their lives so much. And by the end, not that much is resolved. Chris is still on the outs with his dad and Hallie is in a decent place with her parents, which we were told about, instead of really seeing it play out and get resolved. The family drama played such a big role in this story, but it didn't have a very satisfying ending.

Overall, it was an interesting, cute rom-com. I liked the romance and side characters but would have enjoyed it if the family drama had been lessened or resolved better.

Thank you to the Publisher for providing a free ARC copy of this book. I found the main character hard to root for because I’m the first sentence she’s being treated poorly and convincing herself it’s ok. I also found the MMC hard to relate to, and the premise of the story was a little odd. Ultimately, it wasn’t the story for me, and I couldn’t finish, but thanks for sharing.

Hallie has a hugely busy career as an event planner for an elite agency in New York. She loves her job and all the opportunities it brings her. Whilst planning an engagement party for a high profile couple she comes across some media files of video messages from the ex boyfriend of the bride to be.

Chris is the ex boyfriend. He has a bit of a following online as a famous astronaut, having spent months on a space station. His instagram posts have gained him a considerable following, with his good looks attracting lots of female attention :) He is at a career crossroads, deciding what his next step will be when the IT team at NASA forward an email from Hallie to him.

Hallie feels a bit guilty about watching all the videos Chris sent his ex but there is just something about him that draws her in. Knowing that he no longer works on the space station, she decides to send her own video diaries to his old email address. It feels good to let all her emotions and feelings out each day and despite not knowing him personally she feels comfortable telling him her innermost thoughts.

‘He grinned, and it made me feel like butter on hot toast, my knees trembling as if they were ready to give out. This was ridiculous!

Things you need to know about Hallie… She is hard working, smart, gorgeous, fun, a bit of a people pleaser and a slightly accident prone. If something is going to go wrong, it will happen to her. She has no idea that her video confessions are endearing her to Chris, he loves her honesty, her lack of verbal filter and how freely she expresses her emotions.

‘And you look like a sports ad! I only found out what a squat thrust is last summer. Until that point, I was pretty sure it was some kind of fruit.’

Chris decides he needs to meet Hallie and when fate brings them together he knows that he needs to spend more time with her. Hallie is thrilled to discover that Chris is just as amazing in person and he was in his videos. Chris is the sort of guy you want to bring home to meet your parents and is incredibly sweet. He considers others and once you have his friendship, he will always be on your side.

‘Oh God, Chris, I’m so sorry. I came up the stairs, and your door was open, and you took off your underwear - and your ass , oh Jesus, your ass is mesmerizing, but then I realized I was perving on you and I tried to back away but I fell over the dog and ‘ oh! I yelped in surprise as he lifted me by the waist and threw me with ease onto the bed.’

Hallie’s confidence has been knocked when it comes to dating, she feels like Chris is almost too good to be true, everything is going so right that she is expecting something to go wrong at any moment. Meanwhile, Hallie’s parents keep pulling her into their divorce dramas and Chris’ father keeps thinking he can interfere in his son’s future.

This is a slow burning romance that begins online and then eventually into real life. The friendship they establish becomes the firm foundation for wonderful things to come. This is my first experience reading about an astronaut and it is evident that Samantha put a lot of work into the research of what happens in space. It was so interesting and informative but also a heart stealing romance.

‘This woman was made for me. I knew that deep in my bones.’

Event Planner Hallie Goodman accidentally is sent digital videos from one of her bride’s ex boyfriends. While she knows that she should stop watching (or at at least fess up), she is immediately enthralled by the handsome astronaut on the other side of the screen.

When she decides to at least admit what she has done to the man she is watching videos of–Chris–he can’t help but notice how much he is enthralled by her, too.

This book is adorable. The concept hooked me immediately, and I found myself not wanting to put the book down! Hallie is relatable and funny, and her connection with Chris made me fall in love with them.

I absolutely adore a dual POV, and seeing into both Chris and Hallie’s lives made the book all the more endearing. I recommend you grab this for a lighthearted, but heartwarming read. Chris + Hallie will leave you smiling long after the book is done!

DNF for me... I read about 50 pages and was bored. I didn't love the female MC, she was a little too "quirky" (like, trying too hard to make her quirky) and I wasn't invested in her story.

Who would have thought that LOVE could come from emails and videos from the sky ?? When Captain Christopher Ortiz was traveling around in space he was sending his then girlfriend Darcy Hawthorne video diaries of his experience BUT when Darcy broke it off and was getting married to another she accidently send the videos to her WEDDING PLANNER !! Who makes a HUGE mistake like that or was it because Hallie Goodman found them charming, loving and the sweetest things she has ever seen !! Could this be a Cosmic Love even though he doesn’t know someone else has seen them until one day after he was back from his mission NASA sent him replies to his videos … hmmmm what is this all about ??

So, when Chris watches Hallie’s videos back to him he also feels a connection except they DON’T know each other !! A chance meeting perhaps .. an engagement party or a run in .. they all could work couldn’t they ?? Chris needed to get his life together first and figure out what he wants to do now since he didn’t return to NASA or the Air Force except his FATHER has other plans ??Hallie is the pink haired raven that he can’t get out of his mind and will do everything in his power to make Hallie his !!

Hallie has her own agenda because pleasing people is her mantra until it causes her heart and she doesn’t know how to stop the runaway train !! That is why she is so good at her job, Event Planning but family gets in her way too !!

Can these two get over everyone else’s problems and just work on themselves ?? Or will business opportunities pull them apart …. I LOVED these two characters !! They are so full of LOVE and LIFE except family will try and pull and push them apart …. DON’T LET IT HAPPEN !!

Such an emotional love story !! Fantastic writing !! Loved every word, video and Bandit !!

Ah, such a quirky fun read...

I loved the idea and theme of this book, an astronaut and a successful event planner in a cosmic-ridden love story. I loved how the premise of the story was set, I adored the slow-burn romance but hated the fact that the characters were so dumb about a few things.

I hate the parents in this book, they were just horrible and a few circumstances that were written in this book made me want to throw the kindle a few times, but I just held myself back at the last possible moment. This definitely shows that the author is great at writing emotions and lovely yet hateful family situations.

The friendships between the girls in this book were fabulous and the humor though few, shined very brightly. I love the fact that there were many women respecting men in this book Derek and Chris were great. I guess this book is a treat for all the slow-burn romance lovers.

I just wish the ever prolonging bad and difficult situations were less in this book, they put me on an edge and made me anxious even after the book was done.

I'm glad that this was my first book by Samantha Young and I hope to read more of her books soon. All slow-burn romance lovers can pick this book up.

This was a lot more emotional than I was expecting and I thought it was going to be more Rom-Com but it wasn’t. BUT, This was still an easy read and I do love the relationships that Samantha young writes! I will easily read anything she writes! 4⭐️ 1.5🌶️

I had been wanting to read this book for a very long time and when I got the email that I was approved for the arc, I had never been so excited. This book is BEAUTIFUL in a way you can't even describe it. I loved the storyline, the characters, the way they are so drawn to each other makes you go forward and read what happens next. I loved every bits of it. Would definitely recommend for everyone to start reading this book.
Thank you Valentine Pr for the arc.

“Being yours…that’s the only thing in my life I am one hundred percent certain I want and need to be.”

We are met with Hallie (event planner) starting off the story with an emotionally abusive boyfriend who is never given the credit she deserves. Enter in Chris (astronaut) who comes in at the right moment to let her know she is everything and more!

I just absolutely loved Hallie and Chris's story. They are examples of what love should look like, the innocence in the beginning turning into undeniable attraction and passion. If you are looking for a palate cleanser book, a feel good romance, this is the book for you. It will give you the swoon, smiles and chemistry to satisfy your needs.

This was my first book by this author and I cannot wait to check out more of her work!

I love Chris and Hallie. They have great chemistry and I loved their banter. There was a lot of drama, but it was relatively mild and each issue was resolved quickly and without much fanfare. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read that left me feeling very satisfied.

Okay, finished and I am obsessed with it. A meet cute through video diaries between an event planner & a former astronaut. There’s a lot that’s fun about this — Hallie and Chris’s dynamic, all the space references (fun fact, I actually have met one of the few Mexican NASA astronauts, Jose Hernandez!) and the tension it brings. This was a fun read overall and I’m excited to be showing it on my not-Air Force base but old town Navy base that kind of feels similar but not really!

A Cosmic Kind of Love

Hallie, a pink-haired event planner, gets hooked up with Captain Chris Ortiz, a newly returned-to-earth astronaut, in this out-of-the-world romance.

Although there is a lot of miscommunication, some family dysfunction, and Chris not catching a clue about his scheming ex that keeps throwing meteors at their relationship - I loved this couple.

I felt like the premise was fun and interesting, with two hurting people finding each other in this vast galaxy. It’s a sexy, funny romance with a bit of spice, and, boy, are there some great one-liners in here.

Thank you to @letstalkbookspromo and @berkleypub for this gifted ebook.

🎧 I listened to the audiobook, which was fantastic, with dual narrators. Thank you @PRHaudio for the complimentary audiobook.

So this one was a little slow for me, although I did enjoy it in the end. I loved the idea of the two of them falling in love with the other separately using the videos they’d made. It made for a unique “meet-cute”. The two characters had a lot of back-story and I think sometimes that is what made the story seem like it dragged a little. But it was also good that they had so much back story because it made so much in the story different as well as added the drama we needed without it being drama for drama’s sake.

While in some cases I feel like Hallie might have overreacted a tiny bit, there were definitely things that Chris did NOT react the way he should have, or understand why she was feeling the way she did. I like how they did finally learn to communicate, and change the things they knew they needed to. It was great how the changes they were making actually lead to something being kind of over changing, if that makes sense.

The characters were all great in this, loved the setting, the storyline, all of it. And all the characters seemed to grow and change even just a little for the better.

“A Cosmic Kind of Love” is the story of Hallie Goodman, an event planner, and Christopher Ortiz, an astronaut. A romance that starts "accidentally". Hallie is organizing the wedding of a socialite, for which she sends her files with the ideas that she would like for her wedding, however within those files are some video letters from her ex, a popular astronaut of Mexican descent and who has a great number of followers. The event planner is captivated by him, so she watches all his videos in which he recounts his day-to-day in space. Feeling guilty, he sends her an apology video by email, but seeing that her emails are bounced, she continues sending videos of her day to day. What she doesn't know is that Christopher has actually seen them.

When they meet in person, the attraction is very strong but they decide to start with a friendship that grows stronger as the days go by and gives way to something stronger. But that later is put to the test by a small omission that leads to various situations that fracture trust. This book emphasizes the importance of values such as honesty, empathy, trust and communication. Both characters find themselves in a bad family situation. Something I must mention is that both had a degree of naivete, which they overcome thanks to certain life lessons. Hallie is at that stage in her life where she is criticized for the failure of her love relationships and her work is belittled, even though she is very good at it. He has lived to please his parents, he does so in good faith and has tolerated their every selfish act. For his part, Chris has a dysfunctional relationship with his father, his mother and brother died, which further fractured the father-son bond. While Chris is quite popular and charismatic, his father is cold, distant and secretive, yet deep down Chris wants a reconciliation.

His relationship with Hallie makes him reflect and both create a complicity that makes his virtues stronger. Chris makes her feel valuable, empowering her. And she opens her eyes to reality. If you are looking for an entertaining, original read because how many romance books have you read with an astronaut as the MC???, with endearing characters that feel so real. As a plus, I really liked that my country was a theme in the book 🤭.

I have loved Young’s writing for years and this was an interesting branch out in a way from her normal type of story with the characters. Very much like Much Ado about You, this story will hit you hard with the emotions, the romance as a whole and so much more. Both leading characters have a lot of baggage that comes with them however that doesn’t take away from seeing these characters grow within the pages. I loved the wit and banter but the feel good storyline that we are given with this one. Chris and Hallie’s story is one that will make your heart happy and sing.

When events planner Hallie mistakenly opens a file from one of her clients and sees a video message from astronaut Christopher Ortiz to his then girlfriend she knows she shouldn’t but she can’t help but download the rest to watch. This leaves her feeling conflicted so she decides to send her own message to Chris explaining her actions. Meanwhile Chris is at a crossroads in his life. He’s back on earth, finished his job with NASA, resigned from the airforce with no idea what he’s going to do next so when NASA contacts him about Hallie he tells them to make it look like his email account is closed but curiosity means he can’t help but watch the video and the ones the come after, Even though Hallie thinks her emails are bouncing she finds something cathartic in venting her feelings in this manner. Till Chris decides maybe its time they meet…..

A Cosmic Kind of Love is very much a sweet, feel good, friends to lovers romance with a fantastic hero and heroine in Chris and Hallie . I loved the development of their relationship which was a thing of beauty. From friends to lovers until they were friends and lovers in equal measure. With plenty of chemistry between them, honestly I’m shocked this pair lasted as long as they did before jumping into bed together. Chris is probably the first person to look at Hallie and take her seriously. Yes, she’s fun loving and a bit chaotic but when it comes to her job she’s a professional and always gives it 100%. While Hallie doesn’t look at Chris and see the celebrity astronaut, she sees the loving man he is and encourages him to look into his Mexican heritage. There is some angst but its mainly of the parental variety, Hallie being caught up between her warring divorced parents and forced to constantly mediate between them while Chris feels that no matter what he does, in his father’s eyes, hell never live up to his deceased brother. Together they give each other the strength to follow their dreams. This book left me with a warm glow and a big smile on my face wondering where I can find my very own astronaut. Does anyone have NASA’s email…….?
