What a sweet book. Chris and Hallie are introduced to one another virtually. However, neither of them knew about the other. When they do meet for the first time, they have definite chemistry. They both have issues with their parent(s). This is a book about forgiveness, honesty, support, friendship and love. It also has a little bit of jealously, insecurities and the need to be in control. But knowing you have a person in your life who understands and supports you, can mean everything. Chris and Hallie do not disappoint giving you a journey of ups and downs in their relationship. It was a fun book to read,. A book that will take you out of this world for a bit too.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥

When we think of a perfect match, we think of a couple that is aesthetically compatible or two people who have similar goals or achievements. In A Cosmic Kind of Love, Samantha Young challenges us that our soul mate could be someone that is just looking for the right kind of affection you can provide and vice versa.

Hallie Goodman knows she tries too hard to please people. As a planner in New York's leading event management firm, it definitely comes with the territory, but everyone in her life seems to know this well and more often than not take advantage of it. It gets worse when her divorced parents are constantly putting her in the middle of their toxic fights and her boyfriend breaks up with her because he does not think being an event planner is a legitimate profession.

When her client gives her digital files to help with planning an engagement party, Hallie finds messages that her client's ex-boyfriend sent her..from space. When she felt lonely one day she decided to send his defunct email addresses her own messages.

It turns out that the email address is not as defunct as she thought. When Captain Christopher Ortiz started receiving random video messages from a pink-haired woman, he didn't think much about it at first but then started to be charmed by her humor. Can two people fall in love without having ever met?

This was a fantastic read. I was getting frustrated by the toxic and overbearing people in Chris and Hallie's lives -- which is by design -- and I love the character development they take in addressing the lack of boundaries. I love, love, love that their connection started behind screens and before they even met in person because it just made everything after they met even more meaningful. I also love that they inspire healthy boundaries and communication in each other.

Don't get me wrong. As much as I love the emotional connection, their physical chemistry is off the charts. It might be a slow burn getting there, but the full ignition is well worth the wait.

" I’ve been a student and a soldier, an astronaut, a scientist, and a writer. And I’ve never felt one hundred percent certain that any of those things were something I wanted or needed to be. But being yours…. that’s the only thing in my life I am one hundred percent certain I want it need to be. “

I really loved this romance! The premise was so interesting! I really enjoyed how Hallie finds old videos of Chris when he was up in the space station and falls for him. It was really funny how then she decides to send videos back to him. At first Chris wants nothing to do with her and makes it look like the videos bounced but after watching her second video he decides to not say anything but continue watching what she sends. I loved when they finally met in person but neither knew that they watched each other’s videos. I loved how much Chris stood up for Hallie and really understood her. Hallie it’s a people pleaser and tries to please everyone. I loved how much Chris cared for her and wanted the best for her in life. I felt like at times communication was really lacking for the two of them in a couple. But overall this romance is really unique and you fall for the characters completely!
Definitely recommend reading this unique romance!

I had so much fun reading Hallie and Chris’ story. I seriously loved how their relationship started. The title really suits the story because that's what happened to Hallie and Chris. I absolutely enjoyed their story.

This book was so sweet, hilarious and lighthearted. Haven’t read a cute romcom in awhile and this one hit the spot.

We have Hollie who is very cute but messy event planner in a big company who is excellent at her job but always ends up in very embarrassing situations. One of her clients accidentally sends her digital files from her ex-boyfriend who happens to be an astronaut. Curiosity got the best of her and she watched ALL OF THEM. She couldn’t help but feel attracted to the guy but she felt very guilty so she decided to send a video apologizing and the rest is history *wink wink*

The premise of the book caught my attention but also got me anxious because I was afraid it will be creepy but thank god I was proven wrong. Chris and Hollie were so great together and very mature when it comes to situations. The whole penpal video diaries was adorable and it gave us an insight of the characters, their fears, their unique view of the world and even share embarrassing moments.

I enjoyed reading about the “astronauts life” it was very interesting and cool. I have new facts to share it’s my friends. I also enjoyed the complicity of the characters and their relationship with their families (toxic family members). I love it when romance books have important topics and have depth.

A cosmic kind of love is a charming, funny, sexy , friends to lovers (ish), opposite attract type romance that will make your day.

Come for the astronaut romance, stay for the astronaut romance! This was such a sweet, heartfelt, angsty love story with a really fun premise and extremely relatable characters.

I absolutely adored both Hallie and Chris, they were real and flawed and I loved how they communicated with each other and how mature their relationship felt. I identified a lot with Hallie in particular, and the growth throughout the story (for both of them!) was so satisfying. There was a great blend of romance with family and career issues; the characters are so loveable that you truly root for them in every aspect of their lives.

Samantha Young delivers swoon and steam, with the perfect amount of heartachey feels. This is my first book by her but it definitely won't be my last!

I loved everything about this book!

Chris (MMC) and Hallie (FMC) are wonderful characters who met under interesting circumstances - I was rooting for them the moment their names popped onto the page

Both characters have "interesting" family members, which added to the drama - accept Aunty Richelle, she was just 👍

When you mix a latinx intelligent but lost astronaut (lost in the emotional sense... not lost in space) with a pink-haired people-pleasing event planner you get fireworks and lots of lovely "awww" moments

I highly recommend you read it today!

Pink haired Hallie, the event planner meets Chris the Insta-famous astronaut through an email mixup. They meet IRL and the sparks fly in a friends to star crossed lovers situation.

This is a cute fun romcom with a little steam. I could relate a lot to Hallie. She is a people pleaser and it gets her into a lot of sticky situations (some really funny) as she tries to navigate making everyone happy and avoiding conflict. I too try to avoid conflict at all costs by making others happy and have a hard time saying no.

What made the characters relationship and chemistry work for me was that for the most part the characters communicated their needs well throughout. Even in the bedroom. Like I said Hallie is a people pleaser, in every aspect of her life, and Chris makes sure she is pleased too. Don’t get me wrong, there is miscommunication but not in that rip-my-hair-out-and-yell-just-talk-to-each-other!! kind of way. I hate that.

For me, this relatable female lead paired with the swoon worthy astronaut made for an enjoyable read.

4 Stars!
Hallie Goodman is a senior event organizer at an elite event management company in New York where she plans fabulous parties for a living. She loves her job and is extremely talented, but her personal life isn’t going as smoothly. She’s a people pleaser who always puts her own wants and needs last. This sometimes lands her in uncomfortable and awkward situations. When one of her clients accidentally sends her digital files from an ex-boyfriend things turn complicated. They are personal video letters from a year ago of a man she finds intriguing. She knows she shouldn’t watch the videos since they weren’t meant for her, but she can’t help herself. He is genuine, kind and unbelievably sexy. To top it off he’s an astronaut filming from the International Space Station. It’s wrong to invade his privacy, but she’s strangely drawn to him. Soon she’s developed a crush on a man she didn’t know, but finds fascinating.

Captain Christopher Ortiz retired from the Air Force, and became an astronaut for NASA. He spent time on the ISS during his mission, but had been back on Earth for the last seven months. He’s gained fame as a Latino astronaut and is now a well loved national hero and social media star. He’s thirty five, and accomplished a lot, but still feels a little lost, and isn’t sure what he wanted to do with his life. His future was uncertain, and he needed to figure out his path and what direction he wanted to go in. Then a beautiful, quirky woman with pink hair enters his universe. He feels an instant pill toward her, but she has to remain off limits while his world is still so up in the air. Will the unexpected turn out to be what they each need the most?

A Cosmic Kind of Love by Samantha Young is a heartwarming, charming, friends to lovers romance about family, friendship, love, self discovery and following your dreams. Opposites attract and we get a fantastic, original story packed with sizzling chemistry, humorous banter, and undeniable connections. <333

When Hallie Goodman opens a link from her client, she expects it to lead to inspiration for her job as the event planner for her client's engagement party. So she is very surprised when the link is to a folder of video messages from her client's ex-boyfriend, the famous astronaut Christopher Ortiz, while he was working for NASA on the International Space Station. Hallie knows it is wrong to keep watching the personal messages, but Chris is cute and encouraging. To feel less guilty about watching Chris' videos, Hallie decides to send him a video message apologizing for watching his video letters. When the email bounces, she starts sending him video diaries thinking no one is watching. But Chris does see these videos and decides he has to meet her. But will the chemistry they discover through watching each other's messages continue in real life? Or will their baggage and family trauma keep them from happiness? This book was so fun and sweet! I expected a fluffy romance with very little substance (which I also love), but this book had hidden depth. The characters were charming, and I loved how they encouraged and supported each other. They both had serious issues with their parents, with Chris' controlling father and Hallie's parent's toxic relationship and divorce. It was interesting to see how their parents' relationships impacted their lives and relationships. It was such a fun yet thoughtful romance, and I loved it!

ATTENTION ‘MIRRORBALL’ GIRLIES!! Ok so I was interested in the author, Samantha Young, because one of the booktokers had mentioned that ‘On Dublin Street’ was one of their faves and we have similar tastes. I wasn’t expecting anything other than a cutesy rom-com, but boy howdy was I wrong in the the best way possible. It absolutely blew me away how raw and real the emotions of both main characters, but especially Hallie’s felt. That people-pleasing panic that builds and builds and causes this desperation and need to escape. Beautifully captured. Absolutely cried my heart out. Emotional, tender and still maintained that kind of “frothy” quality??

Now what the book is actually about…Our people-pleasing planner, Hallie, runs across a client’s ex video diary FROM SPACE! And develops a lil’ crush. She replies back to the videos with initially an apology, then increasingly personal videos once the first message bounces back. Eventually, the astronaut ex, Chris, and Hallie meet and their chemistry is out of this world.

Cosmic Kind of Love is the kind of book that I love to read. Samantha Young is a pro at delivering amazing love stories with sizzling chemistry, but she also introduces all sorts of wonderful subplots amongst amazing characters; sometimes likable and sometimes not. Not only does this book deliver a love story that comes to be in the most amazing and cosmic kind of way, but this book also delves into so many amazing issues that so many of us can identify with.

Chris is a former astronaut who While on the space station made vulnerable videos to his then girlfriend on Earth. Be is Chris’s ex girlfriend‘s current event planner, planning an engagement party to a man that isn’t Chris. When she mistakenly is sent the wrong files by her client, she delves into Chris’s video diaries with abandon, and can’t understand why she’s so drawn to them. Feeling badly that she has invaded Chris’s privacy, she sends an apology video but when that video seems to bounce from his mailbox, she keeps sending the video diaries as a cathartic way to express what’s going on in her crazy life. Chris does indeed see each one and watches them, resolving to somehow implant himself into her life even if it means he has to attend his ex girlfriend’s engagement party to do so.

Besides the amazing love story, I loved that each character had their own flaws, and had rough relationships with their parents that they needed to address. Each character grows through their own relationship with each other, and also by learning to stick up for themselves with their respective parents.

I’ve loved Samantha Young’s writing for 10 years now, and this one wasn’t any different. I’m so glad to have another of Samantha Young’s wonderful romances to add to my shelf.

Thank you to Berkley Publishing and to Valentine PR for providing me with an ARC oF this book.

I've been a fan of Samantha Young for quite some years and I have been excited for this book since it was announced. In the trope department it didn't disappoint. We have the good ol' opposites attract after a pretty unconventional "meet" cute, which feels a bit like a spin on You've got Mail.
I really enjoyed Chris and Hallie and I found them to be well thought out characters, with quirks and flaws and backgrounds. They fit together well and complimented each other perfectly. It's a bit more insta-attraction than I thought and might not be everyone's cup of tea, even if them actually getting together is pretty slow-burn.
Even though overall I enjoyed the book, I will say that I think older readers will like it more than younger ones, even if the protagonists are only in their early thirties. There is a bit of drama of course, but the story itself is more mature than I would have expected. The ultimate conflict isn't a simple miscommunication, which I think was a good choice, but I don't like the way Chris handled it. He was in the wrong from the beginning in several aspects and only seems to become apologetic after Hallie is proved right from a third person. It shouldn't have had to come to that point and it would have been more in line with the story and characters to talk it out with more understanding.
Ultimately I would recommend the book, but I don't think it's for everyone.

Thank you to Valentine PR for providing me with an advanced copy of this book to review. All opinions are my own.

4 'Mi cielo' Stars!
ARC provided by the the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The premise for this story definitely caught my attention. And when I saw one of my favorite authors was the creator, I was all over the idea. I mean, when I saw the words “astronaut hero”, “event planner” and “romantic comedy” I was oh-so-ready to read A Cosmic Kind of Love. Samantha Young and Berkley Publishing join forces again with a unique, heartwarming love story that will make you fall in love with Captain Christopher Ortiz and his “cielo”.

So, A Cosmic Kind of Love is Young’s upcoming standalone and, as I mentioned, it’s the love story between a former astronaut and a quirky event planner. But their paths cross in a very peculiar way. Hallie Goodman is planning Chris' ex's wedding and she “meets” him watching some old videos Chris sent to Darcy while he was in space. Chris is readjusting after coming back and he is not having it with these videos he keeps receiving from a stranger. Or is he? A strong connection starts without them even meeting in person and when they finally do? Get ready for this emotional and adorable space ride!

It seemed we were drawn to each other like binary stars. It was addictive and disorienting.

I have to say one thing. I devoured this book in less than a day (which is pretty fast for me nowadays). I was sucked right into this story and the backgrounds of these two unique characters. This love story is not only rare because of Chris and Hallie, it’s different because it deals with important issues in today’s world. Also, the theme of space is very much new to me in romance and I find that very refreshing. I do have to confess though; this is one heck of a slow burn. We definitely have to wait quite a while for this couple to get together and it was a bit too slow for me sometimes. But I still loved to read every single page to get to its HEA.

“But being yours . . . that’s the only thing in my life I am one hundred percent certain I want and need to be.”

Therefore, I am rating A Cosmic Kind of Love with 4 STARS because, of course, Samantha Young’s writing continues to be one of my favorite ones, I loved this unique, heartfelt love story and its extraordinary characters. It has a little bit of everything (even though the slow burn was a bit too much for me) and I loved reading and meeting Captain Chris Ortiz and Hallie Goodman. If you are a fan of Samantha’s writing, save the date and grab your copy on October 18th!

I was really excited to read a romance with an astronaut protagonist as it's something that you don't typically see in the contemporary romance genre. I was really impressed with the author's attention to detail when describing Chris' experience in outer space as well as his inner dialogue regarding his challenging acclimatization back on earth. I learned a lot of interesting things about astronauts while reading this novel, and one thing in particular that I really appreciated was the fact that Samantha Young didn't just sugarcoat and romanticize it. Not only did we see the rewarding side of Chris' job, but we also saw the realistic difficulties that people in the field may go through.

Captain Christopher Ortiz was such an endearing hero. He very much has the "Golden Boy" image because of his high profile job and social media popularity, but secretly he's lost in many ways. He poured his heart and soul into making it to outer space to honor his late brother, but now that he achieved that unimaginably difficult goal at such a young age, he's at a crossroads.

Not only does he feel conflicted about continuing his career at NASA, his personal life is simultaneously in shambles. Chris is not one of these commitment-phobe, womanizing jerks whom you see all too much in romance. He's that long-term relationship unicorn guy who's an all-around good person. Which makes it all the more awful that the woman he cared about selfishly cheated on him. Another issue Chris has is his broken relationship with his father. Their relationship has been toxic for some time, and causes him a lot of frustration and turmoil. While he wishes they could somehow bridge the huge gap between them, there's a lot of built up resentment and anger towards his father that he doesn't know how to get past. All of this is weighing heavily on his mind when he meets Hallie.

Hallie Goodman has an unhealthy relationship with her parents as well, but rather than avoiding them like Chris does with his father, she tries to slap a band-aid on the situation by putting up with their childish behavior. Seriously, the parents in this book were absolutely horrific. Trust me, you're going to be internally screaming at the sheer audacity of their abuse. Hallie's issue in dealing with her parents is that she's anti-confrontation and pro-placater. In other words, she's a tragic people pleaser who doesn't know how to say no. She often puts herself in the middle of very uncomfortable and unfair situations in order to make others happy, but ends up making herself miserable. Some might say that this could turn her into a bit of a doormat with those who knowingly take advantage of her kindness, but the one thing that saves her from that is her self-awareness. She is completely cognizant of the fact that she has a problem, and she would like to adjust her behavior, but unfortunately she doesn't know how.

Chris and Hallie have a unique meet-cute over private video messages. The unusual thing is that neither one of them know that the other person is watching their videos. Hallie stumbles across Chris' messages to his ex (her client), and she knows she shouldn't watch them, but she's incredibly drawn to his humor and vulnerability. Chris receives her videos that are more of a personal diary, but she is emailing them to him thinking that they are all bouncing back to her with him none the wiser. When they finally do meet in person, Hallie immediately comes clean about her transgression, but Chris is too afraid to confess because he fears that she'll write him off before they have a chance to really get to know each other. Obviously starting a friendship rooted in deception is not going to end well, and becoming romantically involved further complicates Chris' predicament. I give him major points however for keeping her in the friend zone until he can drum up the nerve to tell her the truth. On a positive note, this creates a lot of anticipation and tension as they both grow deep feelings for one another that they have to keep bottled up.

I love how Chris accepted Hallie's awkwardness, but also helped her become confident enough to avoid those awful situations by setting boundaries with people. Aside from one really good friend at work, she hasn't had anyone in her corner who is rooting for her to live her best life. This couple's relationship developed naturally and realistically with low drama/angst. That's not to say that there weren't any conflicts, there were, but the two of them handled things in a pretty straightforward way.

A Cosmic Kind of Love was funny, unique, and super sweet. Hallie was the goofy, quirky girl that everyone sells short who somehow snags one of the most eligible bachelors out there. How can you resist that kind of opposites attract theme? Also, if you're a fan of friends to lovers books, this one will most likely hit the mark. I think this couple will very easily win you over.

“There was no countdown, no warning. Just like that, my astronaut successfully launched me into the stars.” ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was such a unique little romcom which brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “star crossed lovers”.

A Cosmic Kind of Love is a very slow burn romance between two characters with amazing chemistry. I love a good “strangers to friends to lovers”, but this was done so differently to anything that I have ever read before. Was it cheesy at times? Yes. But was it also serious and heartbreaking at times too? YES.

The toxic family drama hit close to home and was hard to read about, but that made the characters feel so real and relatable, I just wanted to reach into the pages and hug them both.

Also this book is literally laugh out loud funny, I will never listen to “Sweet Caroline” in the same way ever again 😂

💙Synopsis:
Hallie works at a very prestigious events management company in New York, and when her client, Darcy, accidentally sends over her ex boyfriends video messages sent from space, she can’t help but watch them all. Hallie instantly feels a connection to Chris, but the guilt of watching private videos is far too much for her to deal with, so she sends Chris her own video message of apology, and Chris feels an instant connection to Hallie too…

A Cosmic Kind of Love is a romcom with a unique kind of meet cute. It is the story of an event planner, Hallie, who gets sent the wrong files by one of her brides and instead gets videos from the bride’s ex-boyfriend, Chris, from space, the international space station, to be exact. In a mix up situation, Hallie watched all the videos and sends her own videos, detailing mishaps in her life to Chris’s blocked NASA email address, thinking no one will see them. Or is it blocked? This was just adorable as a friends to lovers trope with some major miscommunication issues going on. But it also had way more depth with both characters dealing with parental issues - feeling of abandonment, pressures, toxic situations. I loved that Chris loved Hallie for who she is - quirks and all. I loved her outrageous stories. I loved seeing these two stand in their own two feet and follow their hearts and their dreams. And I loved the mushiness of it all.
