This was a very sweet book. Honestly this is proof that less is more -- very little text but a lot of heart. I actually got emotional at the end, which is really rare for me at a children's book.

There's no way I can truly express my love for this series. It's such a warm hug reading this book and looking at its illustrations. Whatever the author will publish in future, I'm gonna read it for sure!

Cool little adventure book, which reads more like a graphic novel than a children's picture book.

I received a digital review copy, but waited to get the hardback version, because I wanted to see how the illustrations (designed as a tribute to the Disney cartoons of the author/illustrator's childhood) came through. I have to say they're just as vibrant on paper, which is not always the case. Good job.

Sadly the book had a big blob of something waxy and sticky between pages 16 and 17 that ripped the pages when I opened them, but since I ordered from Amazon, yeah, I'm stuck. I have received so few books from them that weren't damaged either from printing or transit, I almost expect it at this point. And they don't care, so requesting a replacement won't get me anything except another damaged one, because they never guarantee they'll package them in anything except a cheap plastic bag. I'll just keep this one.

Honestly, the graphic alone does this justice. I love seeing the forest go through the four seasons and see the animals interact with each other.

'Beneath the Trees: First Spring' with story and art by Dav is a lavishly illustrated story dedicated to the animators at Walt Disney.

It's Spring and Mr. Warthog is eager to take his baby boy out to pick a bouquet of flowers for babies mother. There is just one problem: baby warthog is allergic to all the blooms. The babies wailing and sneezing causes Mr. Warthog to get distressed. He really wants that bouquet.

This series tells short tales, but they have an emotional resonance that makes the reader think about the struggles that others might be going through. The art is fabulous as usual, and I really enjoy this series.

I adore the entire series, but First Spring is my absolute favorite. The art is as beautiful as it is in previous volumes and the story...the story is lovely and poignant.

Received via NetGalley.

As with the rest of this series, this is a beautifully illustrated book with dynamic characters. The story was a bit more puzzling until the final reveal and then a bit more melancholy.

Who doesn't love spring? A new life after being cooped up inside the house for good portion of winter. A new hope and pretty scenery after a bleak one. But spring has its problems too. Here we will meet a heartwarming duo of father and son who tried to pick flowers for mama.

Dav has done it again he’s taken the simplest of young graphic novel and run the reader through every emotion possible. From happy, to rip my heart out sad, but also hopeful. Every emotion! Only the best of the best can do this, and Dav has proved over and over again that they are the best. I want every book in this series. A personal hardcover copy that I can share with my niece and nephews that they can share with their children and on into the future. These books have a lasting story that will want to read over and over again

A cute story of papa pig and baby pig. How to deal with limitations and how to enjoy every situation. Colorful and attractive. It is a lovely children's book. Captions are easy and adequately sized. A must read.

The illustrations were very nice. I liked that it was similar to a graphic novel. A good story for the spring!

No send to kindle option and I didn't know this until after I already hit "read it." I am not selecting "I will not be giving feedback on this title" because it counts against my feedback ratio.

Papa Warthog and his little one want to go outdoors and enjoy the delights of spring, but allergies and bug bites send them fleeing for the house. Still . . . there are wonders to observe, and flowers to pick for Mama, so back out they go.

This is another fantastic entry in the author's wonderful seasons series. The artwork will leave you smiling while the story tugs at your heart. A beautiful book to be enjoyed any time of year.

Synopsis:
In this children's book, we see Papa Boar & Baby Boar trying to enjoy the Spring time .

This was a fun time 🥰🥰🥰

So this is my first book in the series & I don't even know how rest of the books in this series are.

Firstly the illustrations was really good, it was bright & cute. It just makes us think about spring time. Secondly the relationship between the papa boar & baby boar is so cute to see. We can see that they love each other a lot & will do anything for each other.

My only issue is that the way Papa Boar tries to resolve his son's allergy problem. It was not the right method & it might have caused the Baby Boar immense discomfort. Other than that i loved this book & will definitely try to read rest of the books in this series.

It’s spring and all Mr Warthog wants to do is pick a bunch of flowers for his son’s mother. This isn’t as easy as it sounds because baby warthog has allergies but Mr Warthog is determined.

In between all of the sneezing, the wonders of spring are also evident. There are surprise butterflies. The kids in the neighbourhood are playing in the sunshine. The flowers are beautiful.

But then I learned why it was so important for Mr Warthog to pick the flowers and, I’ll be honest, a part of me broke at that point. After having seen other characters in the series frustrated and cranky, I’d expected some emotional component to this story but I didn’t expect to feel so sad reading a book about spring.

Despite the sadness, and maybe even partially because of it, I was able to appreciate the efforts of a father doing his best to comfort and take care of his son.

Like the rest of the series, the text is minimal in this book. The majority of the story, especially the emotion, is told through the images.

Being spring, there are plenty of yellows and greens. When the weather and mood change, there’s a darker palette.

Having now made my way through all of the seasons, I’m having trouble picking a favourite. However, I expect this is the story that’s going to stay with me the longest.

Bonus fun fact: Baby warthogs are called piglets.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Magnetic Press and Diamond Book Distributors for the opportunity to read this picture book.

Such a sweet story I think every parent can relate to. I especially liked that it was a father with a baby. The illustrations are allowed to tell the story for the most part which is really nice.

Omg that end. Soooo touching. It will tug in your heart strings. I had to pause my reading and reflect as it gave the previous pages new meaning. The reveal was very well done. 10/10 recommend this one. Ugh so touching...

This was absolutely beautiful. It got me. I didn’t realize what it was about until the end, why the flowers were so important, and when I did, oof. He’s just a dad trying to do his best. I loved it.

It's a very simple but cute story about a father and his child who's allergic to flowers (yay, spring!), the style is adorable. It'd be a nice addition to any young learner's classroom library.

I absolutely adored this little story. The artwork was perfect; it was charming and had a vintage Disney feel to it. I appreciated how the author chose to tackle grief and the relationship between the father and the baby. Although this is a children’s book, I was hoping for a bit more dialogue or story. It seemed a bit repetitive and I understand why, but I think it could use a little beefing up.
