I picked up Hooray for Trucks to read to my 3 year old son who loves trucks. We quite enjoyed this book. The story is fun and an easy read. The pictures are great and super colorful. My son often times requested that we read it more than once.
This was a cute little book about all kinds of trucks and I will definitely be using it for storytimes in the future. I will probably buy it for my future kids, too, since my husband is a car nerd.
Hooray for Trucks is a story that would be loved by all those little ones who love trucks and machines. All the trucks at the construction site love to work, all day, all the time. When they are told it is time to clean up, they don't want to waste time and the foreman has a hard time trying to round them all up. Once they realize that they will still be working while scrubbing each other, they get on board. When they are all clean, they discover why the boss wanted them to sparkle. The youngest two grandchildren enjoyed this book. They liked the various trucks and how they worked, got dirty and finally cleaned up. The illustrations were adorable with cute faces on the trucks and machines. They gave each truck it's own personality. The text was rhyming, had a lot of onomatopoeia and was simple and easy to read, with a good cadence. This was be a great book for kids who don't like to take baths as well as beginning readers. This was a winner for my little ones.
Thanks to Netgalley and Owlkids Books for a free digital copy.
This book is great for kids who love trucks, but it also has a fun sneaky message about how baths are good for you and are part of your work. I thought it was delightful.
Who doesn't love an adorable book about trucks? The verses rhyme and bounce across the page and the illustrations are delightful and colorful. Sure to become a classic!
Such a sweet book! Love the rhymes, love the personality-infused trucks, and particularly like that the trucks don't want to have a bath! I can imagine lots of young kids totally identifying with these trucks. Bright engaging illustrations with attention to inclusion. I also loved the small details like a particular cat that keeps on popping up. Parents will appreciate the humor and the upbeat tone. This will be super popular with junior truck lovers and all kids who balk at baths. It will also be popular with caregivers trying to convince their young one into having a bath. A winner all around.
This book made me laugh. Not only does it have the names of all the trucks, but the trucks don't want to be cleaned. I think many kids would be able to relate to that. At the end the trucks go to a parade. Fun book for youngsters.
Cute story for all the truck loving kiddos out there. Illustrations were sweet with trucks and people in all colors, shapes and sizes.
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is a great book for any truck lovers! Kids will enjoy the different types of trucks pictured.
This one was very cute! I had a chance to test it out on my two year old and he loved it. The illustrations are nice and bright and the text rhymes, which kids really like. There is good representation in the book too, which is super important to us. The surprise activity the trucks partake in at the end of the book was a really nice touch.
I'd recommend this book for any car loving kid, and also if you are having a hard time getting your toddler excited for bath time.
This is a happy little book for young readers featuring personified trucks. The bright colors of the illustrations and exuberance of the mood make for a captivating story.
A story in rhyme for any young truck fan. They love playing in the dirt, but aren't too keen on getting clean. It takes the foreman saying it's a big job to get clean to have the trucks get ready for the big parade. The story is fine, but the art is colorful and bright, which would work well for library or one-on-one story-times. Hooray for Trucks! would be a fine secondary purchase for collections serving preschool and young families who crave more books about trucks.
A cute picture book that parents and kids alike will enjoy about trucks. I love that the trucks had their own personality.
Hooray for Trucks features a variety of big machines that love to work. But, when it's time to clean, these hard workers have no interest or the time to stop for a scrub and a hosing down. Instead, they want to continue to work and get dirty, hauling dirt and rocks through a muddy construction site. It's not easy persuading busy trucks to get scrubbed and rinsed. It takes some convincing, but it's worth it when the sparkling clean trucks celebrate with a parade through the town. You'll have fun reading this book aloud with all the action words and sounds.
I also like that this book includes the names of the types of trucks. Kids will love pointing out the excavator, concrete mixer, and many more. Hooray for Trucks makes a great read-a-loud with its rhyming text and vibrant illustrations and will keep children thoroughly engaged.
I look forward to adding this book to my storytime book rotation. Thank you, Netgalley and Owlkids Books, for the DRC and the opportunity to read this book!
I’ve read a lot of books about trucks with my two sons, so I was assuming it would be similar to one I’ve already read, but I was pleasantly surprised by this story! Hooray for Trucks is a cute story of all types of big work trucks that need to be washed up. The story names the different types of vehicles and has fun rhyming prose. Some of the word choice was a little odd (ie. Shirk and chuffed) but overall it was very cute.
I love how the trucks come to life with cute little faces on the illustrations.
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the advance digital copy in exchange for an honest review
I received an electronic ARC from Owlkids Books through NetGalley.
Perfect for young readers who love trucks of all sorts. Readers see someone trying to get the trucks cleaned up but they refuse. They want to work and that requires them to get dirty. Finally, she persuades them that cleaning up is work too. Colorful illustrations bring the trucks to life especially when they are on parade at the end. Young readers will have fun matching the truck names with the illustrations and making noises too.
High energy with the rhyming text and illustrations.
Cute! My son loved looking at this one with me and naming all of the trucks. I know kids who like transportation will love this one!
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!
This is such a sweet book for kids who love mighty machines. The book is full of a variety of big, vibrant coloured, personified trucks and the expressive text is written in rhyme.
Because of their daily hard work the big rigs are covered in dirt and grime. The construction site manager tries to gather the group together and demands that a good scrubbing and washing is in order.
At first the trucks balk and refuse his offer. No way! They don't want to waste valuable time getting soaked and lathered up. They want to continue hauling dirt, carrying bricks and lifting heavy beams. The trucks want to work!
Finally the trucks discover the purpose for their clean-up and they get on board for a massive sudsy bath. The purpose? The spotless team of truck giants are going to be showcased in a truck parade. How exciting is that!
They are so happy and proud as they roll down the street cheered on by a diverse crowd of big truck fans.
This book is a celebration of trucks and the reader is invited to cheer them on as the parade passes by. The illustrations are perfect and kids will love the book from beginning to end. I highly recommend it.
Know a kid who loves trucks? This colorful, rhyming tale is a great naming of trucks as well as a gentle nudge to readers about the importance of bathing. Very fun!
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A cute rhyming book about trucks working and getting clean. Great rhyming and bold colors will help keep kids interested.
