Yes! Read in search of AAPINH authors and so glad to see there’s a wealth of windows and mirrors books available. Looking forward to adding this to many lists.

Lovely addition to the existing picture book rotation depicting Lunar New Year celebrations for a Chinese-American family.

Great book to introduce an aspect of Chinese New Year to those who are unfamiliar. I love the diverse family illustrated in this book. While I like the simplicity of the story, I would definitely include other books about Chinese/Lunar New Year in my child's reading list so they can get a better idea of what the holiday is about. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

I received an eARC from Netgalley and Owlkids Books in exchange for an honest review.
- This ARC's formatting differs from the published work and may have impacted my reading enjoyment.

I enjoy stories that serve to give children a broader scope of cultural diversity. This is a cute story about culture and food. It is told in a very plain way that makes the story feel somber. I don't know if that was the intent but I don't see kids loving this read even though the story is a good one. I'll need to reread the published work since I couldn't make sense of the pictures due to the ARCs formatting.

Nicely done! I loved the idea of how items played a meaning in bringing in prosperity for a healthy and happy new year! I am happy to add this book to my library's collection as there are not many books that talk about celebrating the Lunar New Year.

I love Lunar New Year books! I always find that they invoke so many happy and positive emotions since this is all about starting fresh and hoping for good fortune and prosperity for the next 12 months. And of all the books I've read, none of them have talked about the tray of togetherness! Which is a concept that I super love! A whole tray of candies to share in the name of the Lunar New Year?! How amazing! This is one I will definitely need to add to my repertoire to share with kids for Lunar New Year and a tradition I think anyone would love to add to their own family.

I received an electronic ARC from Owlkids Books through NetGalley.
Readers join the preparations as this family prepares for the Lunar New Year. They gather the treats to share on their Tray of Togetherness and explain why they chose them to readers and other characters. I appreciate the artwork as it offers a look at this celebration from this young girl's perspective. Leung shares her heritage through this family and provides informative text at the end so readers can learn more.
