'Time to Go!' by Marta Cunill with translation by Susan Ouriou is a picture book told in a series of panels about some lazy birds.
The flock is flying south, but three birds decide to stay. They learn pretty quickly why they should have gone, and try to find creative ways to stay warm. Perhaps if they'd put as much energy into flying, they woulnd't be freezing.
This is a funny story and I liked how it ended. The illustrations are pretty silly as well.
This book was adorable! Three birds are a little too “lazy” to fly south for the winter so we get to see their chilly adventures! The illustrations were so much fun and absolutely enchanting!
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A funny book about how it is okay sometimes to follow the crowd.
This. was a sweet book, but I agree with other's that it's nothing special. The illustrations were pleasant and the storyline was easy to understand, but it didn't have much staying power.
The book had a pleasant color scheme, fun composition and drawings, and a moderately amusing story. It's nothing exceptional though.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a very simple introductory to graphic novel that has a funny storyline, easy to follow writing and very cute art work.
I received an electronic ARC from Owlkids Books through NetGalley.
Three birds learn the hard way about flying south for the winter. Reader meet them when they refuse to leave with the other birds. They see them try a variety of solutions that don't work. They make the decision to fly south and join the other books. The story ends with them not wanting to leave with the other birds again and seeing the cycle start over.
Humorous look at why we should listen and follow some patterns. The illustrations capture the expressions well.
This is a fun book about three bird friends who decide not to follow the crowd and their instincts to fly south for the winter. They won't put the effort into such a long migration and are feeling lazy so they stay behind.
Once the rest of their flock has departed the three realize their folly. It's mighty cold in the wintertime. Who knew? They always were in flight to warmer climates leaving those freezing temperatures far behind?
Still unwilling to give in they try different solutions to keep warm. They try wearing winter clothes like their human counterparts and even try living in the water like fish. Do those adaptations solve their problem? No way!
The three amigos discover it's best to take flight and join the other birds to flee from the misery of the engulfing cold. They arrive safely and meet up with the others. Just as they begin to relax and thaw out the flock leader announces it's time to fly north once again! Oh nooooooo! Really? You have got to be kidding...right?
The illustrations are humorous and very kid-friendly. The story is told in panels with speech bubbles which kids are sure to enjoy. "Time to Go" highlights themes of: migration, adaptation, animal behaviour, problem solving and never giving up. I highly recommend this book.
Three little birds don't want to fly south. What do they do? They try other ways of staying warm that just don't work out for birds. What a great way to spark a discussion about animal adaptations, migration, and hibernation!
This hilarious picture book tells the story of three lazy birds who don't feel like migrating in the fall. When the winter comes they sure are in for a surprise though and instantly regret their decision. They try a number of strategies which do not work super well, such as coats or living like fish. When they finally decide to migrate, they are a little too late and are unimpressed when it is time to leave already! With graphic novel/comic style box images and speech bubbles with minimal text per page, this is the perfect book for young readers who are excited to try to read on their own. The images also tell the story almost as much as the speech bubbles and are funny and detailed without being overly complex. I really like this book and am sure that my grade 3 students would love it too! I can see this one becoming a fast favourite in my room and would recommend it to parents and teachers of children in the age 4-9 range. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this excellent book!
Simple and classically cute!!
Simple and adorably funny children’s graphic novel. Great to introduce early readers to graphic novels with this silly story and cute illustrations. This was a fun read. Those silly birds need to stop procrastinating and fly south!!
Grateful to have received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley & Owlkids Books.
