I bought myself an iPad with the intention of learning how to draw, so picking up drawing books seemed like a good place to start.
These are literally 101 super cute cat things you could draw. I appreciate how most drawing books really try to take you step by step on how to get started and how to keep going even after you feel like you're doing nothing but failing.
These were fun to attempt and like everything else, I know drawing will need a lot of practice. I can't wait to look back months, years from now, and see how much I've improved.
As a long-time cat enthusiast and an amateur doodler, I was thrilled to dive into Lulu Mayo's latest creative guide, "101 Super Cute Cat Things to Draw." This book delivers exactly what the title promises: an explosion of adorably whimsical cat-themed drawing projects that cater to artists of all skill levels.
Mayo's book is a delightful journey into the world of kawaii-style cat illustrations, offering over 100 cat-centric drawing prompts, step-by-step instructions, and doodling exercises. From unicorn cats and sushi cats to cactus cats and zodiac sign cats, there is no shortage of creative inspiration within these pages. Each illustration is imbued with Mayo's signature humor and charm, making the drawing process enjoyable and stress-free.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
Ahh this was so cute. I am still rather unsure about my artistic side as I have been rather crap when it comes to arr. This gives me some hope :)
I loved this book!!! The little cats here are so cute, goofy and fun. I can’t wait to keep doodling with this inspiration!
As a foster home for cats and kittens, this book looked like it would be a lot of fun, and it did not disappoint. It was perfect timing as I wanted to find a way to record the different cats that I have fostered over the last 3 years, and as a big doodling fan I couldn't wait to get into this book!
Inside, you'll find fun whimsical doodle drawings of cats in various position and improbable mashups. The book is light on realistic cat drawings and colour theory (as advertised in the description), and concentrates heavily on the mashups. Which is fine in itself I think, as there are plenty of other books and tutorials if you want to learn to draw more realistic cats. The drawings are really fun, and fairly easy to follow and attempt - you do not need to be an art student to enjoy this book.
Thanks to Netgalley and Lulu Mayo for the advance copy of this book, I really enjoyed it.
This was such a fun book to follow. The animals are accessible and even a beginner like me could follow and create great drawings. Fantastic way to spend afternoons relaxing.
Full review will be posted soonish and I'll add links to blog as well.
I would like to thank the publisher and netgalley for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Adorable cat themed drawing book! Perfect if you love to doodle.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy in exchange for my honest feedback.
My daughter and I had so much fun going through this book, and trying out different techniques and tips, in order for us to draw some cute cats. My daughter loved the book so much, as it is so quirky and fun. We had a good time together exploring the book.
The book is suitable for beginners, as it goes into the different materials and tools you need, different techniques, and little tips and tricks which will help you draw cats.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this book.
101 Super Cute Cat Things to Draw is an adorable collection of cat-themed art ideas. The guide is engaging and absolutely purr-fect.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for an advanced copy.
All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is so cute!
Seriously, the cats are so stinking cute and fun to draw!!
As soon as I came across this book, I knew I had to try it.
We are a cat family, my daughter loves cats.... I can't draw cats haha
But after losing our sweet Miss Prissy last Fall, I have attempted to draw cats. Nothing fancy or anything, just cute little cat clip art.
This book finally helped me figure out how to draw a cat that actually looks like a cat.
The cats featured in the book are so cute, fun and creative! The step-by-step instructions are simple to follow and after a few attempts, even I had a cute cat drawing! My daughter has also fallen in love with this book and we now have lots of cat drawings all over the house.
The cats are shown in normal, every day house hold ways plus fun, creative ways and best of all, it's easy to change little things up and truly show a cat's personality.
I definitely recommend this book and plan to purchase a copy for my daughter!
A fun and easy way to learn how to draw simple shapes and practise your skills! Cute and endearing. Excellent for kids and nearly any person who wants to learn how to illustrate cats and stuff.
I absolutely love how cute this how to draw book is!!! The pages are beautifully laid out and the instructions to draw are very simple and easy to follow however my drawing skills are awful and all the cats I have drawn look like demonic hell-spawns. Would totally buy this book in a physical copy!
Super cute book! It shows a range of ways to draw cats, from getting started with basic shapes to cat macarons! I particularly love the anxious cat purse.
A great book for getting back into drawing, or for trying something new. I love the art style. Highly recommend for any creative cat lovers!
This is honestly the cutest guidebook to drawing adorable cats! I love all the chonky cats in here, and the drawing themes are also fun and creative. It would be amazing to have a physical copy of this book. It's perfect for any cat lovers, even if you're bad in drawing them because the guides are simple enough to follow.
Unfortunately, I was not notified of my approval to read this book by NetGalley before it was archived by the system. However, it looks adorable and I plan to get it from my local library.
This was a really cute book and will be a hit for anyone who likes cats and wants to draw them in various ways! It shows you what materials you can use, the way lines and colors add to your art, and then so many cat designs.
As the title says, this book is “super cute”. It has cats in all kind of positions, even in taco shells! Typically there are several examples on drawing a kitty on one page with blank space on the opposing page to practice. Technically you could buy this book electronically and draw on a separate page, but I think this would take away from the fun. Plus, you can color the cats directly on the page! The drawings do show different breeds of cats, but they are all the cute cartoonish style you see on the front page. If you love cats, then you will love this book!
First off, the book itself is so cute. I can't really explain what I mean, but everything is presented in the book in a very cute and cozy way. Maybe it's the hand-drawn titles and labels throughout. It's perfect for relaxing and being creative.
The title of this book is accurate, but the description is a little misleading. It really is 101 cat THINGS to draw. And they're all super-cute! It shows you how to draw a cat toaster, and a cat muffin, and a cat cappuccino, and a cat broccoli. If that sounds cute to you, you're right. It's adorable.
What's a little confusing is that the book is presented as having four parts, but the vast majority of the book is the fourth part. Here's (roughly) how it breaks down:
- "a lesson on color theory" - 8 pages
- "tutorials for drawing popular cat breeds" - 8 pages
- "creative prompts for doodling cats of your own" - 12 pages
- "a variety of ideas for drawing cat mash-ups" - the rest of the book (about 100 pages)
So...if you're picking it up looking for topics 1/2/3, you may be disappointed. If you're looking for topic 4, you've come to the right place. This isn't the book's fault, or the author's fault, it's just a little misleading how it's being presented. That's why I say that the title is actually 100% correct...but then you see the 4 categories listed in the description and think it's going to be much more. They should have just stuck with describing what it is - a super-cute book of how to draw super-cute cat pillows and cat bread and cat dragons and cat apples, with just a little supporting info on drawing cats in general.
Anyway it's adorable, and if you want to know how to draw a toaster cat, this is the book for you!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
Really loved this book. A super cute book offering 101 cat things to (easily) draw. Great for beginners, whether adult or children. I've been wanting to learn to draw for some time, but just haven't found the right book to not get too frustrated with myself and give up. But I think I just found the right book. with this one.
