I used to spend significant time in India for business and one of the first conversations I had with a local woman was how Indian women used species and Ayurveda for health. I looked for cookbooks that were written in English when I was over there but often they were weak or not quite what I was looking for. I cobbled together a binder of articles, tidbits, etc. and was happy with that.

This book, however is what I had been searching for. It provides an introduction to Ayurveda as well as provides recipes. Perhaps I was looking at the wrong location, because I found this knowledge coming from a Native American…and I am grateful for her sharing her knowledge. This book is a great resource for anyone interested in the topic and natural ways of healing through their daily food. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

I found this to be an interesting introduction to Ayurveda and what it is but I found a lot of the recipes a little lacking for me. Maybe more pictures would have helped.

Excellent read if you are interested in true health and well-being! A great reference I know I will be looking back to and using. If you aren't familiar with Ayurveda, you need to read this!

So good! I wish western medicine would embrace these teachings when treating the WHOLE person. There is so much we can do to improve our health by following the guidance of Ayurveda. This book lays it out quite simply while keeping with the traditions. Great information and now I want to make some kitchari!

In this beautifully crafted food exploration, the often dizzying philosophy of Ayurveda is boiled down and accessibly presented. The recipes are a nice balance of accessible (you already have the ingredients in your pantry) to achievable (maybe a shopping trip - but one that you can do). I appreciate the broad range of women’s health topics that Emily Glaser includes - from menstrual discomfort, fertility & pregnancy, gut health and other common conditions. Well presented - and well done.

Ayurveda for women is a good book that introduces to Ayurveda. It also covered some simple dishes that are quick to make. The photographs in the book make it an interesting read.

This is a comprehensive look at Ayurvedic cooking, especially for women and women's health. The beginning part explains Ayurveda and some of it's basic tenets. It talks about identifying your dosha and how your diet might influence imbalances in the the doshas and how to fix it. It also has a large variety of recipes that give ideas for which dosha it might support as well as suggestions for how to support other doshas. In this advanced reader's copy, there were very few pictures, so I can only hope that the final copy will be better illustrated-I think pictures help readers get ideas about food they want to make.

Ayurveda for Women was not what I expected, and I could not figure out where or how it applied to me, so I did not finish.

Ayurveda for Women :The Power of Food as Medicine with Recipes for Health and Wellness is an extensive book promoting the benefits for women of following an Ayurveda diet. It combines ancient wisdom and up to date recipes and eating plans to help heal common ailments and improve dosha imbalances. The author is a certified Ayurveda practitioner who uses her knowledge to help women through food. The recipes are good and wholesome but I would have liked to see lots of pictures so I could see what they would look like (and to inspire me). There is so much information that I found it a little too complex at times and would probably just pick out recipes I liked the sound of rather than trying to follow plans. Overall a good book that would benefit women who want to embrace the Ayurveda lifestyle. However the lack of recipe pictures would not make it a great buy for anyone else.

The idea of food as medicine is intriguing to me. Like most cookbooks, you take what works for you and leave the rest behind. I will definitely be coming back to this one time and time again.

Thank you NetGalley and Zeitgeist for the gifted copy of this eBook for my honest review.

Spectacular. A beautiful, stunningly photographed cookbook on whole food recipes and lifestyle from Emily L. Glaser. I got absorbed into the healing aspect that made me want to take better care of myself and it gave me renewed inspiration to keep taking good care of myself through good whole fresh food.

The photos could not be better and the serveware. The recipes are inspiring and wholesome with a healing approach through food.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher Zeitgeist for the opportunity to read and review "Ayurveda for Women' by Emily L. Glaser.

I love books like this, finding information, hints, tips, recipe, meal ideas. It is interesting, useful and helpful. And as with most books like this there are things you take from this book and use and things that don't work for you that you leave behind.

Easy to follow, easy to read and the recipes look tasty and easy to make yet healthy as well. I will certainly be using this book and it's ideas and recipes to help me stay healthy and happy.

Excellent Ayurveda reference book on healing common women’s health issues. Easy to make recipes, along with a sample 3-day menu plan and seasonal food lists for each dosha. Very few pictures.

Loved this book! I sent info on the book to three of my yoga colleagues before I was even finished with chapter 1. I already have this in my cart to buy a paper copy to keep in my kitchen. I learned so much and hope to try some new, and out of my comfort zone, recipes.

I'm a great cook but I don't know anything about Ayurveda. This book offered a quick primer into figuring out what my types were, as well as it is organized by health issue to make it easy to find what I was looking for.

The recipes are simple and use real food (not a lot of strange powders). Most of the advice could boil down to avoiding meat, alcohol, and tobacco, however, depending on your health issue there would be different advice about what else to avoid that could be considered generally "healthy" (such as when to avoid yogurt, dairy, fermented foods, garlic, or certain fruits).

These recipes are not meant to be a full meal on their own, but she puts together compilations of what to have together if you are looking for that kind of thing.

All in all it was informative and had some nice pictures.
