I enjoyed this story with all the characters within. The main characters were Astrid and Imogene.
Astrid Kauffman is an amish and a romance writer. While trying to write her next book a lady comes to her home. Astrid is surprised by what the lady wants from her. The lady's name is Imogene. Imogene is asking her to match her up with an amish man in there community. But she no matchmaker. But Imogene convince her to play matchmaking. Astrid also thinks it might help her to write her next book. Things start out find but get a little bit mess by the end.
This was a fun story to read. It had action, adventure and drama throughout. It had few giggles within.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
Amy Lillard did it again with another wonderful book. I really enjoyed this story very much. It was filled with love and humor and I found it to be a quick page turner. I enjoyed the characters and found the story to be well written. I had a hard time putting this book down that is how great it is.
Astrid Kauffman wasn't your typical Amish woman. Instead of looking for a husband and starting a family she wrote books. At least she was trying to when Imogene Yoder and her unruly twin boys appeared at her door looking for the matchmaker.
Dealing with writers block, Astrid didn't correct Imogene and took on the challenge of finding a husband for her and father for her children. Astrid's twin brother Jesse could relate to the boys and often went along on outings with Astrid, Imogene, her boys and the one the matchmaker chose for her.
Lies, or omitting the truth, can often lead to trouble or at the very least misunderstanding.
You'll want to pick up a copy of this book to read about the antics of the matchmaker and how things almost went so wrong!
The Amish Matchmaker is a book that is easy to recommend to older patrons. It is well written and is quick read. It is a book that doesn't use language that an older person could find offensive..
Astrid Kauffman is suffering from writer's block. An Amish author of successful Amish romances and she is stumped on her next story. When she is asked by Imogene Yoder, mother to busy ten-year-old twins to find her a marriage mate, Astrid realizes she has just found content for her next book. She has just the man in mind for Imogen, and that is local hardware store owner Elam. He is older than Imogen but Astrid thinks he is the perfect candidate.
Elam is the father to a grown children and he is past the age of thinking that he has the energy for Imogen's rambunctious twin boys, but he does what he can to make Astrid's job easier. However, as Astrid is not really a matchmaker, she falls short of her mark.
In fact, this sweet Amish romance has two love stories. There is Astrid's fraternal twin brother Jesse and the connection he develops with Imogen's sons. He is the better candidate for a romance, but it just might take time to see who best belongs with whom. I can't say who I loved more in this story when it came to finding that forever love, but let's just say that everything worked out wonderfully for all involved.
Many thanks to Kensington and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

The Amish Matchmaker is a delightful book! It is the second book in the Paradise Valley Series. It can be read as a stand alone novel. You will love Astrid Kaufmann as she tries to play matchmaker for Imogene Yoder. We learn that our plan is not always God's plan.
Many thanks to Kensington Books, Zebra, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are mine.
The Amish Matchmaker is a very well written inspirational book. I loved the plot and I definitely recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
Such a fun story. When Astrid is asked to help a widow from another district to be a matchmaker. She has options even though she is not a matchmaker. Her first job is to write romance novels. This might give her a new idea for a new story thread.
So she embarks into unknown territory. Imogene, the widow has twin boys that she needs help with. There is a lot of content in this book. A series of events start rolling and creates a big ball of misunderstandings. One of my favorite authors in the Amish genre.
I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley. This is my honest review.
Astrid Kauffman is a matchmaker. When a distraught woman named Imogene comes to her for help, the unexpected happens. Will both Astrid and Imogene find love?
Imogene Yoder is a widow who desperately needs help raising her twin sons, Matthew and Mahlon, and who better to help her find a husband than an Amish romance writer? Astrid Kauffman rejects this matchmaking idea until she realizes that finding a husband for Imogene might help her spin a perfect plot for her next book.
'She had a plot. 'A brand-new plot to take a young widow and a handsome business owner and make them fall in love.'
There are complications galore in The Amish Matchmaker. Astrid finds the perfect candidate so what could possibly go wrong? Could it be that Ira Oberholzer would also be a perfect match for Astrid herself? I thoroughly enjoyed her often inept efforts to create the perfect romance for Imogene and Ira, and the antics of the two young Yoder twins and their new puppies, Huck and Hoss, had me laughing out loud. Mixed signals and romantic feelings for the wrong people make this an Amish romance that you won't soon forget, and I can't wait to read Amy Lillard's next book in the Paradise Valley series!
I received a digital copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review.
Head to Paradise Hill and Paradise Springs in the latest novel from Amy Lillard, The Amish Matchmaker. Astrid is a romance writer, which is pretty unusual for an Amish girl, but she has permission from the bishop and she donates a lot of money to her Amish community. When Imogene Yoder comes to her and asks her to help her make a match, she decides this might be the spark she needs to write her next book. So, even though she isn't a matchmaker, she agrees to help. She knows the perfect man, too. Ira. He is just the one. The only problem is, as she is trying to get them together, she is falling for him herself. And Imogene's twin boys have another dad in mind, Astrid's twin brother Jesse. Full of laughs and super sweet, this fun Amish romance will make you want to stick around for more once it ends. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to enjoy it!
All opinions are my own.
The Amish Matchmaker by Amy Lillard is book two in her Paradise Valley chaste romance series.
Astrid Kauffman is mistakenly identified as a matchmaker, though in reality she’s a romance writer. She goes along with the misconception and agrees to pair Imogene Yoder with Ira Oberholtzer, but she’s over expected and under achieved, and her plan isn’t working.
Amy Lillard continues her successful series debut with an equally successful book two. Astrid is an acceptable female lead who ends up turning her own concept on its head. She’s a little different for an Amish miss, but a delight just the same. So, my approval of the characterization is a given. Amish life in its own intricacies is presented as-is. Make of it what you will. So far, Lillard has immersed the reader in an healthy Amish community with believable Amish characters. Then, she throws in a compelling plot with a double dose of romance. Add in some vibrant dialogue and you have a completed formula for a great read. I rate The Amish Matchmaker 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all readers of Christian romance.

The Amish Matchmaker was a cute story. We're once again in Paradise Valley, Missouri for the second book in the series but it is easily read as a stand alone. The character of Astrid was interesting since she's a writer of Amish romances and agreed to play matchmaker for Imogene who lives in the next town. Astrid gets herself into trouble with her brother who has feelings for Imogene and her twin boys when they meet, even if he doesn't admit it. He doesn't like that Astrid has chosen Ira, who is older and owns the hardware store in town, to match with Imogene. Everyone seems to be hiding their feelings in this foursome. The twins were a great addition to the story and were always up to something.
There were many references to the church and their teachings. The bishop seemed not to be as strict as others where Astrid and her brother were concerned but could it be because he's their uncle? The story had a good flow and the characters had a depth to them. We met up with characters we've met before and food was an important part of the story. There were multiple stories being told and they were woven together nicely. There was closure with a few happily ever afters especially with the epilogue. I look forward to returning to Paradise Valley in the future.
Ms. Lillard is one of my go to authors of Amish romances and mysteries. I look forward to reading more of her books.
Astrid has a secret from most people, she writes romance books. She lives with her twin brother
Imogene is a widow with twin boys who are out of control! She is running out of babysitters. Maybe if she gets married the boys will behave.
Astrid finds the perfect match for Imogene. He is handsome, strong, and handsome and he was a widower, he was the perfect man. Maybe she could write her book about the perfect match. Her next book outline was due in a few weeks.
My favorite character is Astrid or maybe Ira Oberholtzer, the perfect man. Love can be tricky. What do you say to a stranger, or don't say?
Astrid's plan is complicated and the twins don't make it any easier.
I too am a widow. Sometimes I think it might be nice to have someone to talk to or have dinner with. Would it feel alright or not? In my case maybe another time.
I just reviewed The Amish Matchmaker by Amy Lillard. #TheAmishMatchmaker #NetGalley
[NetGalley URL This review is my own,
The book was good and entertaining but it seemed it took a long time to get to the ending. Astrid and Jesse are twins. Imogene comes to Astrid and asks her to set her up with someone. She had heard that Astrid was a matchmaker. It was never clear in the book how she heard this because Astrid was not a matchmaker. Astrid knows of a man named Ira who she thought would be perfect for Imogene. Imogene has two twin sons and her husband died years ago. She needs a father for her two boys. Astrid’s brother Jesse takes a liking to the boys and they do listen to him and behave. It is clear to the reader that Jesse and Imogene belong together. Astrid goes to the hardware store that Ira owns many times and finally sets him up with Imogene. Ira thinks that Astrid likes him and of course this is true as the book progresses. So we have two couples but they are with the wrong people. It takes quite a while to get the right people together. It is an enjoyable book and I enjoyed it.
I recommend this book and I’m giving it four stars. I received a copy of the book from NetGalley.. The opinions expressed are my own
The Amish Matchmaker by Amy Lillard is the second book in The Paradise Valley series. Although part of a series it is easily read as a stand-alone story. I enjoyed the story of Astrid and Imogene. Somehow Imogene thinks Astrid, a romance book author, is a matchmaker and comes to her for help finding a husband and father for her twin boys. And the mixed-up fun begins. Things just get more and more muddled but Ms. Lilliard pulls it all together for a fun and charming happily-ever-after story. Some rambunctious kids and puppies, lonely widowed characters, lots of twin-ness!, humor and romance make this a book for readers who enjoy Amish romance stories. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the Paradise Valley series. I read a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own.
The Amish Matchmaker by Amy Lillard is an amusing story. I chuckled often while reading this entertaining tale. I thought the story contained good writing with interesting characters. I loved Astrid who is confident and outgoing. She also has an unusual profession for an Amish woman. Imogene’s twin boys, Mattie and Mahlon Yoder, were a hoot. They are ten years old and constantly getting into mischief. They kept the story lively. It was good to see the characters grow and become better people as a result of the meddling. Astrid learns a good life lesson that she will not soon forget. I liked that we get to see the importance of being pushed out of our comfort zone. It may be uncomfortable, but we are better for it in the end. I loved the epilogue that nicely wrapped up the book. This was a fun story about friendship, family, meddling, and mischievous twins. This is one of those feel-good stories that leaves you with a smile on your face when you finish it. I am looking forward to One More Time for Joy. The Amish Matchmaker is the second book in the Paradise Valley series. It can be read as a standalone, but you will be missing out. The Amish Matchmaker was a heartwarming, lighthearted tale with impish twins, writing troubles, a meddlesome matchmaker, a doggy dilemma, festival fun, and happy hearts.
This is a Clean Amish Romance, and this is the second book in the Paradise Valley series. I did read the first book in this series, but this book can be read as a standalone without any problem. The characters for the first book do not show up until about half way through the book, and this book takes place mostly in the next town over. I missed the connections to the first book in the beginning. I found this book took forever to get going, and I found the storyline was slow moving. I did like the characters. I found the little boys that were twins were just so cute, and they got into so much. The twins kept the story lively. Also, this book has a lot of the characters not really talking or sharing with each other important things which is one thing I really do not love in a book. I did find the ending to be so cute, and I felt the story truly came full circle. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zebra) or author (Amy Lillard) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
It was a cute story that I enjoyed. There was a little bit of a slow start, I didn't really get into it right away. But once I hit my stride I couldn't put it down.
It is a witty book with some delightful characters. It's the second in a series so while you meet a couple of previous characters this book could totally be a stand alone. The stories while connected a not intertwined.
I enjoyed that the ending matched the entire book and there wasn't a complete 180 near the end. It's a complicated storyline I believe but beautifully handled.
The Amish Matchmaker by Amy Lillard, book two in the Paradise Valley series, is a story of love, hope, and mistakes. Imogene Yoder, a widow and mother to ten-year old identical twins, was at her wits end. Her boys, Matthew and Mahlon, have become a major challenge and she is no longer able to find someone to watch them while she works her job. Imogene is burdened and stressed by her responsibilities as a single parent and needs help; while her boys need a father and there were no prospects in her community. Imogene had heard about a matchmaker in the next community and finds herself at Astrid's door. Astrid Kauffman and her twin brother have shared a home since their parents passing. Astrid is not a matchmaker but an author of Amish romance. Astrid has had writers block and fears she will not meet her deadline. Seeing that Imogene needed her help and she needed help on her next story, Astrid agrees to match Imogene up with a local shop keeper that she knows as a good man.
Ira Oberholtzer is a handsome Amish widower with two grown children, one married, who owns and runs a hardware store in town. He has not thought about finding a wife, but with his youngest son starting his own life, he knows he will be alone soon. Astrid with her subtle way of matching Ira with her new best friend, Imogene, doesn’t exactly go as smoothly as planned, as things go awry. There is love in the air and the plot thickens, but meddling makes it complicated. Instead of a love match it becomes quite complicated.
Jesse Kauffman, Astrid’s twin brother, is a widower who has vowed never to marry again. Jessie owns and operates a leather shop on the property of a new farm that he and his twin recently moved into. Astrid is always up to something and Jessie works hard to keep one step ahead of her, and keep her out of trouble. Helping to also keep Matthew and Mahlon Yoder out of trouble, allows them and Jesse to make a connection and build a relationship based on trust and respect. Spending time with Imogene allows Jesse to feel things he never thought he would, again.
Ms. Lillard wrote a sweet and moving story of good intentions that go wrong. These characters are forced out of their comfort zones as they grow to love the one meant for them. The twin boys added a depth to the story, directing the adults to find their correct match. The message of love, faith, and forgiveness stood strong; making this a sweet and inspiration read one. I highly recommend The Amish Matchmaker to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
