The Accident is a gripping tale that explores the fragility of life and the unexpected twists that can change everything in an instant. Daniel Hurt masterfully weaves suspense and emotion, keeping you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
The characters are compelling, and their journeys will leave you reflecting on the choices we make and their consequences. If you love a page-turner that will make you think, this book is a must-read!
Highly recommend for fans of thrilling narratives!
I absolutely loved this fast paced, dynamic thriller from Daniel Hurst. Daniel never disappoints with his unique tropes and captivating storytelling. He has a way of really showing each characters emotions in a way that resonates with the reader and encourages empathy. I thought this was perfect from beginning to end. It was well developed, intriguing, and wrapped up wonderfully at the end. There were even lessons to be learned in this. I thought the ending was such poetic justice. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow........ what a thrilling roller coaster of a read I enjoyed the twists and turns and the edge of your seat moments this was a fantastic thriller
This was a fast paced thriller that masterfully combines raw emotion with gripping suspense. Anni’s heartbreaking journey through loss and her relentless pursuit of justice create a narrative that is both compelling and thought-provoking. the detailed storytelling and deep character exploration make this novel a standout in the genre.
Thanks to NG for approving this book.
I enjoyed this one a lot. I love all Daniel's books but this definitely was in the top. I would highly recommend it. I love his writing style and all of his stories are unique. I would give this 4.5 out of 5 stars
Really enjoy this author and this did not disappoint.
Full of twists and turns right to the very end!
I felt that the genre was incorrect. It wasn’t very thrilling and I felt the storyline was a bit weak and under developed. The writing was ok but nothing special
Daniel Hurst is a great writer! This was a great story! The accident affected the lives of so many - it was hard for the characters to move forward. What's planned to be a secret will be revealed! There were so many surprises - what goes around comes around!
This one was pretty heartbreaking with it involving a child but the secrets that were kept by a couple of the characters in the beginning was shocking!
I wasn’t sure where this one was going to go but the lead up to the last big twist was surprising to me.
Overall, a fast paced book that will keep you guessing!
This book was "okay".
Maybe it's me and not the book but I kept waiting for a twist , a turn, a surprise, SOMETHING. It never came.
I just felt like "something" should have occurred, but nothing ever happened and this book literally just dragged on.
This is the first book I have read by this author and most likely will not be reading any more.
It was just so "predictable" at every step with no suspense at all.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and Inkubator Books for the gifted e-book ❤️ #gifted. My review is comprised of my honest thoughts.
Read this book if you like: Multiple POVs, quick reads, stories of grief
This was really good. It was quick, engaging, and I wasn't expecting the twists. The prologue wasn't needed, in my opinion. It was also repetitive at times. It has multiple povs, and it would often go over the same thing from a different pov. The characters were well-developed. The plot was thought out. I highly recommend it!
The Accident explores the aftermath of a tragic car accident. The story is well-crafted with complex characters and a plot that keeps the reader engaged. The author's ability to create tension and suspense throughout the book make me want to keep reading. The book's themes of guilt, grief, and redemption are sensitively handled and leave a lasting impact. Overall, "The Accident" is a well-written and thought-provoking novel that is definitely worth reading.
Right at the start of the book, there is a traffic jam, people go to look and sadly someone has been hit by a car.
We then jump to just before the accident from Anni’s POV and then from Carl and Jo’s POVs.
My first thought when I started reading it was, why is there a red balloon on the cover when the little boy held a yellow balloon?
Moving forward from that little error, I found this book thoroughly gripping, from Anni trying to deal with life after the death of her only child.
I could not imagine what a mother would be going through after something like that. I felt even more emotional about it as my son is almost seven.
There were secrets and lies from the very beginning, but the ending…OMG, I was not expecting that at all.
I have read a few of Daniel Hurst's books before but this one is one of my favourites. I would definitely recommend it.
As usual another absolute cracker of a read from Daniel. Short snappy chapters to keep my interest. He writes books I don't want to put down.
Yet again you can't go wrong with one of Daniels reads. Tobi, who was only 7 years old was on his way home from a birthday party when he was hit and killed by a drunk driver. The guy went to prison for DUI but other things came up in this story that I could not turn away from. This story gripped me from the very first page and I was wide awake at night wanting to see how it would end. And oh what an ending it was!! SO good.
This book had some really great points - I love the writing style of each chapter being from a different perspective (I always find this makes me want to keep reading, then I realise it is suddenly 3am!). The storyline was interesting, I didn't see the twist coming at the end, but for the full 5 stars I would have liked more of a thriller, on the edge of your seat.
A really good read
Kept me hooked till the end
A very well written book
With twist you don’t see coming
Thanks NetGalley
I got this book from #NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. The book has so many details it's like I imagined seeing it on TV as a movie thriller. It was very predictable.
This is a mixed bag read for me. First the positives as I see them! The countdown to the accident is done very well, at 30 minutes prior there’s mother Anni and son Tobi at a party where all the seven year olds are wild and high on sugar. Tobi is of course, the light of Anni‘s life. At 20 minutes and at 10 minutes we are in a pub garden with Carl and Jo for life changing decisions. The five minutes prior and the accident are hard to read especially as you know what’s coming. Some emotions are done well especially that of Jo and Annieas are the ramifications of the accident on peoples lives. I do not expect the ending which is all to the good.
Ani is a single mom of a little boy named Tobi, who is the center of her world. She is devastated when he is hit and killed by a drunk driver named Carl. He receives a lengthy prison sentence, which gives her some comfort. Once she returns to work she makes a new friend named Jo. She has no idea that Jo is connected to the death of her son and is determined that Ani never learn the truth of that day. I liked how the chapters are told from the character's perspective in an alternating sequence. It made it more of an interesting read. The ending definitely took me by surprise I didn't see it coming at all. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.
