Up All Night with a Good Duke was a decent read by Amy Rose Bennett. While it was rather predictable, sometimes a reader just needs something fluffy that does not involve much brain power after a long day of decision making at work. I enjoyed the names created for the characters and the spunk of Artemis was nice. The story flowed smoothly and did not feel choppy in any way. The only true complaint I had was about the narrator. I typically enjoy a narrator that has a voice that could be believable enough to match with the image of the main character on the cover. The image on the cover did not match the voice at all. The narrator also spoke slowly and I ended up speeding up the audio so I would not grow glassy eyed and bored. The audio also sounded a bit like it was recorded in a tin can. I have listened to many audiobooks and never had this problem before or after, so I do not believe that it was my device causing it. The character voices were also rather similar and made it hard to differentiate who was talking at times. While the audio portion did not do this story justice, I enjoyed the story itself over all.

If you’re looking for a good book to stay up late with on these hot summer nights, Amy Rose Bennett’s latest release, Up All Night with a Good Duke needs to be on your radar!
This delicious new series starter follows a group of bluestockings as they attempt to avoid the parsons mousetrap!
Artemis Jones is a school teacher by day and romance novelist/ seductress by night! I adored her independent spirit and gumption as she uses every advantage she has to open her own school for girls and solidify her independence!
… Even if that means getting engaged to a Duke!
The Duke of Dartmoor needs some help with his wayward daughter who is getting bored he turns to an educated bluestocking for advice! Soon he’s turning to her for more than advice… and things really heat up!!!
This was a fun romance and I love how Bennett’s writing reminds me of fun and excitement that old school romance delivers, but with the modern sensibility that makes it relatable!
This is a series to watch!
🎧I was fortunate to receive an audiobook arc and found that even though Sasha Higgins narration fit with the historical romance vibe, her breathy narration could be grating at times. Her pace was also very slow. The slow pacing required speeding up, with could make her narration style difficult to understand. I also fond that her male voice work and the character differentiation to be minimal and often changes of speaking voice difficult to catch. In general, her narration did fit with the book, but it took more work from myself the listener to get used to and enjoy.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Sourcebooks Casablanca and audio from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Up All Night with A Good Duke begins likes a Jane Austen novel. I got Emma vibes throughout, I love how both Austen and Bronte are discussed in the novel. This historical romance has an engagement of convenience, forced proximity, hot Dukes, a strong protagonist, and an anonymous romance writer. This is a well written story with a few spicy scenes. I loved the relationship between Artemis, a self-proclaimed spinster, and the Duke of Dartmoor, a widower with a mysterious past. I'm looking forward to book two in the series.

I enjoyed this book. It followed the predictable formula for “modern Victorian” historical romance with many common elements - nobleman with a bad reputation, unconventional “bluestocking” woman, and feminist values. Despite the lack of anything truly novel, this was a fun story with interesting characters and a satisfying happy-ever-after at the end. I particularly enjoyed the relationship between Artemis and Celeste.

Artemis is such a strong female lead, being a blue stocking (an intellectual or literary woman), who wants more than what life is willing to give her. And then she runs into the dastardly Duke, literally... and life will change as she knows it.
Artemis isn't willing to settle into the life of a house wife, as society expects; she wants to educate other women and to write her gothic-romance books. She will have you rooting for her all throughout this story!
Artemis comes up with an idea, a plan to make her dreams come true... and she needs the dastardly Duke to be the star performer to execute her plan. Oh that dastardly Duke... Dominic Winters leaks with confidence and passionate sensuality. Dominic also has his own agenda though: he must find a new wife and positive female influence for his teenage daughter and someone who will bear him an Heir.
I would highly suggest this book for fans of the Bridgerton series, specifically The Duke and I. This story is full of banter between the two main characters and hot, sweet passion.

This is my first historical romance. I'm not sure I'm cut out for this genre. Overall, the story was well written. The ending...I don't want to give anything away but it was a pile of events and if half of them didn't happen, I probably would have liked it more. I've read amazing reviews for this book and I did enjoy the steamy parts but it's just not for me.

I really liked this story.
Strong female who knew what she was and wanted.
Artrmis a teacher and a Gothic romance writer unknown by others,
Dominic is known as the dastardly Duke who has a teenage daughter that he can't control.
Great story with emotions,humor,romance.
The narration was alright but the female voice din't quite fit the male.
Voluntarily reviewed.

OK, this was really fun. It's if a modern woman got sent back in time, and the male love interest has modernized views. A woman that write ~spicy~ novels and wants to start her own school plans to never marry, but on the way to achieve her goals her plans get challenged.
I found it to be a fun listen, but the fact that the male love interest was narrated by a female sounding voice threw me off. I don't listen to audiobooks that much. The whole story had a nice roll to it, and was very engaging from the very beginning. The ending felt a bit rushed, but didn't take away from the enjoyment of this story. It did a good job of capturing the time period without making it problematic.

This was my first Amy Rose Bennett, and won’t be my last. This is the first book in The Byronic Book Club series, a Regency Romance. I loved the humor, the flirt, the instant attraction, the slow burn romance, the fantastic characters, and the interesting storyline. Dominic and Artemis are very interesting characters. The chemistry between them is sizzling. Dominic, widowed Duke of Dartmoor and single dad, is very handsome, enigmatic, and protective. Artemis, a finishing-school teacher by day and Gothic-romance writer by night is beautiful, independent, talkative, rebellious, caring, and smart. They are opposites attract, but they are perfect together. I liked Dominic’s daughter Celeste. Sasha Higgins has a beautiful voice, very pleasant to listen to. This is an excellent team author/narrator. I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it. If you like Regency Romance, this one is definitely for you! #NetGalley

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio version of this book. I enjoyed listening to this romance novel. This is not a book you want to listen to with younger ears around- this has more smut than I anticipated but with that Said I loved it!
During a rain storm Artrmis meets a man who she later finds out is the duke Dominic Winters. He is a widowed man who everyone thinks murdered his first wife. He did not but society has other views. He is also a single dad of a 15 year old teenager. Atremis has progressive views for women and wants to start a womens college. She comes up with a plan to tarnish her reputation but Dominic has other plans. They eventually fall in love. It is a beautiful love story!

This was a really fun read. I enjoyed the narrator, though she took a while to get used to. The main character was well fleshed out, but I would have liked more from the Duke besides being rich, handsome, and caring for his daughter. I also got some Jane Eyre vibes, but they were very slight. Overall, a good read.

I didn’t really enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. It was a bit slow in the beginning and was a bit unrealistic. But I’d still recommend.

Artemis is a finishing school teacher by day, Gothic romance writer by night. She dreams of owning a ladies academic college and will do anything to bring that dream to reality.
Dominic, the dastardly Duke of Dartmoor, needs a wife to help bring his 15 year old daughter in line. Brides aren't exactly lining up as it's rumored he killed his mad wife. When the two meet up they agree on a relationship ship that may be mutually beneficial, as long ad neither of them catch feelings.
I really enjoyed this. The story built gradually and then the last 20 percent had me completely riveted. I loved this couple and felt they had great chemistry, and I also enjoyed the mysterious subplot quite a bit.
The narration was great, really well done and elevated the reading experience.
And how cool is it that our heroine writes Gothic romance? I love it!

This book was a total surprise. I thought it would be some fun light historical romance but ended up being so much more.
Artemis Jones is the feminist hero we all deserve. Unwed, confident in her sexuality (social mores be damned), and a secret spicy gothic romance author who will not rest until she opens her own college where women can learn like men. This is the historical romance I wanted for Eloise Bridgerton in To Sir Phillip With Love.
Then we have Dominic, the Dastardly Duke of Dartmoor, a single father whose wife disappeared years ago. Dominic is the perfect partner and balance for Artemis being, understanding, vulnerable and unlike most historical romance men non hypocritical towards a lady's sexuality.
If you are looking for a funny historical romance that touches on larger issues like feminism and mental health, pick this one up!
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook ARC!

I loved this story! Artemis is a blue stocking who wants to be faked ruined so she can no longer worry about marriage and start her women’s college. Dominic is a widower duke who has lived with the rumors that he killed his first wife. They become engaged after the ruination and of course a happily ever after ensues. Wonderful characters including secondary characters. Only negative was that there were times the book felt long. Also not a fan of the narrator, her voice was high and immature.

5 stars for this beautifully written historic Romance. I love these books about society in the 1800s. Spinster Artemis Jones refuses to conform to the life she is expected to live as a lady in those times. After leaving her job at a finishing school for young women, she goes out for a season in society to help a dear friend. She has no intentions of finding love or a husband. She hopes to find someone willing to help her to start her own school for women where she can teach women to take jobs that are only held by men. She is secretly a writer of steamy romance books and would be shunned in society if anyone found out. I love the strength of this main character and that as she finds love, she still manages to hang on to her values and still wants more from her life than marriage and children. Great read!

I loved this book, the love story was great. The main characters were well written. I will be continuing with this series, and can’t wait for the next book!

I loved every single thing about this book, from the great and engaging characters to the brilliantly paced plot that took off running and never slowed down.
Artemis being a writer of “salacious” novels and keeping that from everyone is a fun little twist that contributes to both the dramatic and fun bits of the story. Dominic being a widowed Duke shrouded in dark rumors is the perfect pair for the gothic-romance writing Artemis and you know it as soon as they crash into each other at first meeting. There’s twist and revelations, character studies and grand declarations, serious discussions and lost of very salacious scenes to enjoy.
The only thing I could possibly complain about it might be Bennett’ using an entire thesaurus’s worth adjectives while writing the steamier scenes. It brought me completely out of the story and the romance at times with just how ridiculous some of it is, but I really enjoyed the plot so much that I’m perfectly willing to forgive this.
The narration by Sasha Higgins is very well done, with her hitting the perfect emotional pitch for every scene and very clearly giving each character their distinctive way of speaking so that you could tell immediately who said what in a conversation.
Overall, it’s a near perfect romance that hits all the good spots.
Extremely happy thanks to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Dreamscape Media for brilliantly romantic and entertaining read!

Up All Night with a Good Duke
by Amy Rose Bennett
Narrated by Sasha Higgins
I received a digital copy of this audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I adore historical romance audiobooks and this one did not disappoint. Our heroine is independent, relatively self sufficient for her time and a little saucy. Our hero despite being a super hot widowed Duke has a ruined reputation. He doesn’t really care what others think but he has a 15 year old daughter who really needs a mom type figure and he needs an heir so into the fray he goes. The chemistry between these two is unreal. I loved every minute. Good sounds quality and great narration. 5/5

Artemis Jones was a teacher in a finishing school, though not a very happy one. She has left her position to attend the Season with her friend. She is also the author of Gothic romance novels. She tries to keep that tidbit a secret. Her dream is to establish a college for young women. Dominic Winters, the widowed Duke of Dartmoor, would like to find a wife to help him with his sometimes-unruly teenaged daughter. Finding said wife won’t be easy since it continues to be rumored that he murdered his first wife. He didn’t, of course, but gossip is what it is. Their story begins when they bump into each other in the rain, twice. This is an exciting and entertaining story with wonderful characters; a delightful romance filled with wit and humor, romance, a bit of steam, and a dose of danger. I enjoyed Sasha Higgins’s narration of the story. A great start to a new series. I look forward to the next story.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
