No me gustó lol.
Es muy sexista y es asquerosa la forma en la que esta escrito.
No lo volveria a leer.
I was drawn to the cover and the premise of the book sounded different and a potential saucy summer read.
However what could have been a great plot just didn't work. Unlikeable and unrelatable characters and clunky sex scenes with a complicated business corruption plot awkwardly weaved in.
What did have potential just didn't work for me
This book has everything- organized crime, financial crimes, Florida, sex, drugs, boats, wealth, power, art heist, sex club, metaphors that will have you shaking your head - it’s a little unhinged. I didn’t like this book (the writing was super cringe in spots) but also I couldn’t stop reading it (it was that unhinged).
This book was not what I was expecting. It didn’t leave me wanting more. If you are into steamy reads then you will like this one.
Well, the story is actually not bad... but there is a lot of information, and you really need to pay attention to get all the little details.
Some of the business technicalities I didn't understand and left me confused and annoyed.
But after having finished the novel, I actually think it is a quite clever story, and it will make a very interesting film one day...
As for the erotic side of the novel - well, yes - there is a lot of sex in it, but it is not at all what I would call erotica.
While I really wanted to like this book being from South Florida myself and love a good erotica book, it just didn’t do it for me. I wasn’t really able to connect with the characters and it took me a while to get through the story.
When a group of eight South Florida women form a book club in the ultra-posh neighborhood of Sunrise Intracoastal, the selections often take them into the depths of erotic romance. But Jessica Esposito is more interested in having sex than reading about it. And being the beautiful accessory to her wealthy husband, forty years her senior, isn’t cutting it. Realizing she’s not the only one in the club desperate for some fun, she assembles a group of young, hot guys in need of cash, and a way to get ahead.
Soon, the women are having their every fantasy fulfilled at their unknowing husbands’ expense. But not all the men they attract are who they claim to be. When the corporation headed by Jessica’s husband becomes embroiled in a contentious takeover bid and a famous pop star turns up dead at a party they attend, the secrets of South Florida spill into the water, forcing Jessica to discover who is divulging the information that’s putting her marriage—and her life—in danger. A beautifully written and interesting story. Lots of sex!
"Club Sunrise" is about a group of married Palm Beach ladies who turn their book club into a sex club. From yacht rides to backyard pools there is no end to these ladies' lust. It was a fun and wild ride with pool boys and scandals. Certainly memorable.FD
This was hard to get through. The characters were so disconnected that it was impossible to get invested in this story. It lacked the emotional connection that makes the love scenes worth reading. Things just escalated so quickly with no prelude so it just seemed ridiculous most of the time. Fun concept but the execution just wasn’t there.
Not my typical genre but I thought I’d give it a shot! What a fun story. I loved the mystery plot as well. Would recommend to others looking for some spice
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book. Unfortunately, Club Sunrise wasn't the book for me. The storyline was really difficult to follow & couldn't hold my interest. I really loved the cover of the book. But as they always say, "don't judge a book by its cover."
Club Sunrise is a sexy novel that follows Jessica, who is married to a much older gentleman with a lot of money.
Jessica likes her married life, well, the money part of it. As many rich, married women, she gets bored even with her boy toys. She then creates Club Sunrise, where the hot steamy novels come to life. What Jessica doesn't understand is by creating the club she maybe putting herself in harms way!
A great, fast summer read that will leave you HOT!
I was totally down for the plot but my god, this was BORING.
I was literally skimming through it the entire time cause I couldn't be bothered to read it.
I'm sorry but I didn't like this book at all. I just liked the "plot" and the blurb that was given but the actual contents were lazy and felt over the place. Too much chaos and there was nothing concrete in the book.
I'm just wondering if this is what it takes to publish a book, ANYBODY can get anything published.
I loved the cover of this book, that is what made me want to read it. However, I almost gave up on this book, it was all over the place. It had everything it needed in making it a great story, murder, book club but not really a book club, love triangle, and bad business mistakes.
I decided to push through and felt the story picked up when I was about 60% in, so I stayed with it. I have a lot of questions that I didn't feel got explained like the mystery lady with secret, was that a test? Did the main character Jeesica suppose say what she said?
Jessica is married to a wealthy man twice her age, she met when she was working for casino. They seem to have this mutual love for each other but nothing more I think, I am guessing because the back story there is missing. She and a group of wealthy women decide to take their book club to the next level and start a male escort service. What could go wrong??? But in the mix of her putting this escort business together crazy things started happening with her husband's business. There was too much information given on holding companies, blah blah. Basically, he was in bed with some bad people, I am guessing again.
I think what was missing is depth of the story, I didn't feel a connection to Jessica. Why does she believe sex is the only way she can feel loved., and again I am guessing because her back story is just bits and pieces throughout the story.
I think this author has the potential to be a good writer, however what women want is more of Pedro, that feeling.
Thank you to NetGalley for gifting me this book for my honest review.
DNF around 60%. I just couldn't get into these spoiled, unlikeable rich women and their stupid antics. The storyline with the husband and his shady business dealings was boring up through the point where I stopped reading. The cover of this novel is beautiful though - bravo to the person who chose it.
This wasn't available to download to my kindle?! Not sure what happened - looks like a fun read. Great cover.
At first, I was hooked on the plot since Jessica, our main character did have some personality in her. She seems smart and uses her brain enough. But, halfway through it, I lost the plot. This writing turns into a mess when trying to tangle Al’s company problem. I don't understand shit. But it’s okay though. Jessica also suddenly lost her two brain cells toward the end.
Why the fuck does she refuse the inheritance? Why did she choose her employee, aka the yacht captain? Pedro is so sus why he is so happy at the end? Why she does not know her own mother in law lol. Why did she eat the evidence??? AYO I am getting a headache.
The writing is okay, although there are some parts that are over-explain or have no explanation at all. Have the potential to be good so I said that this book is partially slay. The erotic scenes maybe 11 OR MORE (I start counting in the middle of the book because I am surprised with how many are.)
Overall, it is a good read for me and I would recommend this to erotica fans (threesome scene SPOILERS!!) but it did not slay me off my feet. The book can be shortened though, half of the scene did not contribute to the plot so…. If it was done right, it would be a quick and fun read.
Overall a pretty good read, although it was a little spicy for my liking. It definitely started out strong and kept my attention, but some of it dragged a little. I would recommend it though because it has appeal for sure.
Not quite my cup of tea. There wasn't really much of a plot development. It all just kind of happened. Would have liked to see more of the character's build instead of just completing actions.
I really liked the cover of this novel. I am one for reading about these kind of novel ideas however it was the women for me that I could not really tolerate. There wasn’t much to the characters. Novels are about having characters that are either strong or have a decent personality which is shown throughout the novel. That is what makes a book go from meh to great.
The sex scenes were many however they didn't last too long - that could be someone's personal choice but I would rather lot of dialogue in my sex scenes
