This is Nash Beckett and Michelle's story, it was quite entertaining, I loved Nash, having a curvy woman made this story quite interesting when it was an older woman and younger man trope, so quite refreshing and original. Chelle is an amazing character, I really like how the author developed her and the plotline. I really think if you like these tropes give it a go, it was so fun to read after so many dark romances.

I love Avery Flynn's Hockey and Hartigan's series, but this one didn't fully give me the re reading feels.

This book was a hard read, maybe because I have been so belittled and talked to like I was dumb so much of my working career that I was more hurt and upset with Nash than I really needed to be. He just didn't know when to stop, and so many times I wanted to shake him for it.

Unfortunately Mansplainer wasn't for me. I found Nash to be far too annoying and didn't feel like he redeemed himself.

I really liked that Flynn had a plus size female character, and thought that was really well done.

I have to say I liked all the books in this series. I liked both our main characters and their romance was cute to experience. I wasn't sure going into it how I would feel about a mansplainer, but before they even explained WHY he did it, we were shown many times his thought process behind it. I think it was very well done. This book was funny and spicy, just they way I like it. I also really enjoyed that as a larger and older woman she wasn't focused or whiny about her weight or age. Overall, a very enjoyable book. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

As every Avery flynn book does, this one delivered on the perfect romance. I couldn’t put it down and the perfect finish to the Beckett cousin trilogy!

Super cute and such an easy read. I'm becoming a fan of Avery Flynn and I want to read more of her books. This on is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Oh, My Goodness!

Nash does not know when to shut up.

Chelle wanted all men to let her be.

One tumbling laugh after another, Nash begins to wonder if he will win the last Christmas gift from their Great Grandma. As the days pass and Christmas Day arrives, Nash knows he will win. Except, Nash no longer cares if he wins or not because he found the woman, he didn’t realize he needed. Now he needed to convince his wife to keep him around.

It’s a rocking world of laughter as Chelle manages to stop Nash from over explaining everything. Then she’s in tears as arguments whisk them apart.

Who will win the Last Man Standing bet? It’s simply a matter of perception.

Avery Flynn has a winner.

I received this book as an advance review copy free from NetGalley. I have read and reviewed this book voluntarily.

Avery Flynn is my go-to gal for hilarious sexy rom-coms! Mansplainer is all about the plus-sized cougar gets the gorgeous young billionaire hottie and I am her for it! Nash Beckett is the last man standing in the three cousin’s quest for the last Christmas gift from Granny. Dixon and Griff both fell to their true loves in the first two books of the series, so Nash thinks he has it in the bag. Just arrange a marriage, get thru the six online dates with the new fake wifey, NOT fall in love and win the prize.

Chelle needs to get married. Not because she wants to, but because her old-fashioned father dictated it for her in his will. She will lose control of the family’s foundation to her cranky nemesis uncle if she isn’t married by Christmas. Enter Nash’s meddling psychic mother. She happens upon a disheveled Chelle in the dog park and tells her that her son will have the solution to Chelle’s situation. Because Nash always knows what to do and how to “mansplain” it.

Nash and Chelle decide to tie the knot temporarily. But she is only in it if she can assist him in getting over his mansplaining ways. You know how it goes – forced proximity gets them close in more ways than one. Immediately, Nash decides that he wants to seduce his gorgeous yet short-term wife. Let the sexy times begin – because they just want to “scratch that itch” to get it out of their system. Right.

Mansplainer is set in Harbor City, which is the world that Flynn has created for many of her stories. So, she has some cameos with previous couples and mentions from her Ice Knights series. Also, her other Harbor City series, The Hartigans are ton of fun sexiness and hilariousness if you want to LOL. While this is the final book in Avery’s Last Man Standing series, this is totally worthy as a standalone story.

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review from Entangled Publishing and NetGalley.

Mansplaining - Google definition:

“The explanation of something by a man, typically to a woman, in a manner regarded as condescending or patronizing.”

The third and final book in Avery Flynn’s Beckett cousins series releases today, Mansplainer, and I think poor Nash gets a bad rep undeservedly!

Nash is the last of the cousins to have to “not fall in love “ in order to win the bet they have… but he’s been in on the scheme from the beginning and there’s no way he isn’t going to win… even if he has to get creative with the rules!

In order to not have his cousins pick his match, he gets himself married for convenience with someone who isn’t interested in love and a real marriage either. Chelle just needs a husband to get her inheritance and then she can go back to her charity work and writing romance novels- she doesn’t need a man in her life!

Of course these two fall for each other and fight it the whole time! Chelle feels unworthy of Nash’s attraction due to their age discrepancy and not being the skinny model type he’s usually seen with. But Nash somehow falls for the prickly Chelle and her brood of animals…

Now for the mansplaining: Nash is a fixer. He sees peoples problems and immediately goes into problem solver mode. Chelle and his family see him as mansplaining to everyone, but in no way does he come off as condescending. He genuinely desires to make things better/ easier for others. Thus, my only issue with the book is that he’s constantly sassed for just trying to help others. It takes Chelle forever to see where his heart is and that his love language is fixing things for others.

Overall, this was another fun romp in Harbour City… and it looks the cousins’ siblings aren’t off the matching making hook!

Who here has been personally victimized by mansplaining? Everyone better be raising their hands.

Want some good news? This book was SO GOOD!!!!!! Beckett had me with a constantly state of giddiness. I read this with a huge smile on my face throughout 95% of the book.

All in all this book was such a quick and easy read for me! Had me laughing all the time, the steam was coming off the pages (hellooooo Beckett).

I have enjoyed the other books in the Last Man Standing series, but this one was fun. Younger man, older woman, neither want a relationship. It kept me interested!

Mansplainer by Avery Flynn was a mixed read with some likeable characters. The portrayal of mature personas was a breath of fresh air, and I wanted to like the story more, but the story felt stilted, repetative and some elements felt inauthentic. Moreover, some of the applied descriptives used towards characters were less than complimentary in the novel. Despite that I knew what the intended descriptives were implying, the application and chosen descriptives fell flat. Nevertheless, as a plus for the novel, the secondary characters held merit - notably Karmel who often stole the limelight with her words and personality.

The story had memorable moments, and the main characters overall were agreeable, despite the misplaced descriptive elements.

3.5 stars. It was a fun read and well written. However, I didn't like the focus on Chelle's size and the premise of her having to be married off at her age didn't ring true. Nash's mansplaining incidents were amusing; however, they were almost nonexistent after the first few chapters.

Mansplainer by Avery Flynn

This is the third book in the author's Last Man Standing series with the last brother Beckett finding his HEA. This is Nash Beckett and Michelle "Chelle" Finch's story that has you smiling and laughing the entire book with the antics of the two pug dogs Mary Puppins and Groucho Bark with Sir Hiss the cat giving you a haughty glare from the bookcase.

Chelle Finch must get married by Christmas to keep her families charity foundation helping the people of Harbor City so when she meets a Tarot card reading woman who tells her the universe will give her a man willing to marry her. All she has to do is meet her son tomorrow at the park...easy right?

When she meets Nash her dogs and Sir Hiss the cat does a number of scratches on him but in the end can they make a marriage of convenience with a man who explains everything ? Can they make it work and still fight the growing attraction between the two of them? There will be a little surprise at the end because remember we have all been waiting for what Grandma Betty has for the Last Man Standing and trust me it will make you laugh out loud and wonder is there more books with the Becket boys in the future.

At first I didn't know if I was going to like this book or not, I admittedly came into the series late with this being my first book. Celle needs to get married so that she can save her foundation that she has worked her life keeping on track and building up. Nash needs to get married, not fall in love, go on 6 dates, and not fall in love by Christmas in order to win a bet. I mean what dumb reasons to get married, but as you get further into the story you realize that Nash is good at bringing out Celle's self-confidence and she is good at curbing Nash's need to explain everything and help everyone. They are really good for each other, Nash's mom was right! When these two work together they could excel at everything they put their minds to. I thought this book was cute and I love how Nash is always there to stand up for Celle, but only if she needs it, and makes her realize that she is not overweight, not too old, and is just perfect for him in every way.

I had been feverishly checking NetGalley for an advanced copy of Mansplainer these past few months and I squealed like a piglet when I received an unsolicited copy in my inbox. Avery Flynn has become one of my new favorite contemporary romance authors and I read 11 of her books alone in the last year. She combines the perfect mixture of steam, humor, and sweetness into every book. The Last Man Standing trilogy had a great concept of three cousins making a bet not to fall in love in order to win the last present from their dead grandmother. Who doesn’t love a silly contest when you know all three men will be generating heart eyes by the end of the series? Unfortunately, only Neanderthal came out on top with the gold medal while Mama’s Boy and Mansplainer were left on the lower podium steps.

Mansplainer didn’t really work for me because I didn’t have anything in common with the heroine and the hero’s mansplaining tendencies were an obvious character flaw. I mean each title in the series is their worst defining characteristic. It was difficult to root for our heroine because she may have been older than the typical romance protagonist but that didn’t stop nearly every character dogging on her age. They also commented on her body like she was some unattractive hag. In addition to the barrage of insults flung her way, Chelle’s household was full of spoiled dogs. Pets have played a big role in previous Avery Flynn books and I am definitely not the target audience for that trademark. I’m not the biggest animal fan and I worked at a zoo for four years. The dogs had silly names and every step of their routine was included in the writing, oversharing and all. This is definitely a me problem and I’m sure other readers will have no qualms with it. My biggest gripe was their involvement in the epilogue and I rolled my eyes halfway to Saturn.

While I may not have vibed with the heroine, Avery Flynn surely delivered on her signature spice. Our couple had plenty of chemistry bubbling along the pages and they practically earned a science degree with their bedroom experiments. My favorite part was the doorframe scene and those gosh darn sweatpants. That particular section alone prevented the book from getting a lower rating. Mansplainer may not have been my favorite in the series or even my favorite Avery Flynn publication, but I know she’s got a few bullets in the chamber I’m already anticipating later this year. I’m pleased nonetheless that the Beckett Cousins got their happily ever after. The Mama’s Boy, Neanderthal, and Mansplainer all got their matching puzzle piece. I’m willing to endure a wee fictional mansplaining as long as I don’t happen to experience it in my own life.

Is he mansplaining? Or do you jump to patriarchal conclusions without giving anyone a chance? Nash is a (billionaire?) marketing exec at his family’s company, who just wants to help people — or rather, feels compelled to help people, frequently with advice they probably didn’t need. Chelle runs a foundation and has issues from the men in her family being chauvinistic jerks. When a marriage of convenience presents itself, it seems the perfect opportunity for both to get what they want, and then some. I’ll admit, I got frustrated at Chelle for getting in her own way a few times, as it made me side with a mansplainer! Luckily, Nash really isn’t too bad and has good intentions, and everything works out, and it’s a fairly enjoyable read among the way. This was my first Avery Flynn book, and I can’t wait to read the books for the other cousins that came before this, and her other series! (This one stood on its own quite well which I appreciated).

"Nash wasn't seducing her by putting the moves on her. He was seducing her brain and appealing to her with acts of service at the same time.

Fucking A. How am I supposed to resist that?"

How indeed?

This book is a light-hearted romcom that doesn't slip into the kind of overly slapsticky humor that often falls flat with me. The premise was a bit strained (particularly on Nash's part) but once you get past that, the characters have good chemistry.

This is the third Avery Flynn book I've read and it's right in the middle of the pack. I didn't like this one quite as much as I liked "Tomboy," but better than I liked "Parental Guidance."

Note: I received an ARC of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley.

Book 3 in the last man standing series was a bit of steamy heat filled with comical adventures. You get the know it all Nash and the introvert Chelle who both agree to help the other out. What they don’t see happening is the possibility of falling in love. This is a typical steamy Avery Flynn novel that brings a conclusion to the Beckett cousin series…. Or does it? Thanks to NetGalley for the early review.

Avery Flynn is a master at crafting a fun, lighthearted and funny romcom. I always know when I pick up one of her novels I am going to be throughly entertained. Mansplainer is the final novel in her Last Man Standing trilogy that all hinges on a bet between three cousins to not fall in love after 6 dates in order to get the very last present that their grandmother has left before she passed (prior to the novels starting). Flynn has created a fun through plot line to interlink these novels as well as a compelling family at the heart that make these novels a great series to read in order. I have throughly enjoyed all these novels and found this to be a delightful conclusion to the series.

Beckett is currently the last cousin standing and he just needs to not fall in love before Christmas to official win the bet, so in order to try and stay out of love he enters into a marriage of convenience with Chelle. They both know that this marriage has an end date in 6 months and neither is looking for love. But of course when these two start to date sparks will fly and both question if they truly wish for this marriage to have an end date.

This is just a fun and entertaining read, perfect for a low angst and charming read. Chelle is a fun heroine she is in her early forties, she loves to read and has been secretly working on several novels. Beckett might seem like an ultimate playboy who refuses to settle down but watching his attraction for Chelle grow is endearing and watching the care he gives he is wonderful. Avery Flynn also knows how to build great sensual chemistry between her characters and as these two explore a more physical side they have a great layer of heat that I have come to expect in a Flynn novel. I also really love that all Flynn's series at the heart of them have strong families and familial relationships that the hero and heroine can build a support system from.

If you are looking for some great summer reads definitely check out the Last Man Standing series! This series, while you can read as standalones, works much better in order so you can follow the through bet plot line to it's conclusion. Avery Flynn is a definite must read for a quick paced, delightfully funny and charmingly sensual romance!
