Fitz was EVERYTHING a book boyfriend should be! Hallie fell a bit short for me. She was not at times someone I was rooting for. This is somewhat problematic since she is the main character.
Megan, her best friend, give me more of her though and I will be a happy camper!
Thank you @entangled_publishing for the advanced readers copy.
This book seems more interested in making the leads right about everything and in detailing every aspect of their lives and thoughts than in actually making me care about them. Their motivations and reactions often make no sense at all, and the insta-lust when I wasn't even invested in them as individuals yet, let alone as a potential couple, was another stumbling block. The author lost my confidence pretty early and never came back for it, and I ended up checking out early because I could see there would be no change in the book's direction. Maybe if I liked this style of comedy and banter, I would feel differently, but it just wasn't working for me.
My thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a cutesy romance set in a small town so was right up my alley 😆 it was paced well and I flew through it.
I liked that the heroine was the town librarian who had a great love for novels and the town itself. I also liked that the novel was duel prospectives.
I enjoyed the playful banter between herself and the mayor.
Overall a sweet quick read I’d recommend to any romance book lover
Ok so I've been really trying my best to follow through with this book, but unfortunately it's just not doing anything for me.
The chemistry between the main characters are pretty non-existent (at least up to where I stopped reading): their first kiss almost happened and I did not even realise it? It was more of a telling thing than a describing the scene thing.
At one point I checked my progress, saw that I was still on 19% and it bummed me out because I hoped I was nearly done with the book. Goes to show how much it's not working for me.
Thank you to the publisher and author the the ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
This contemporary romance was a funny, quick read that I enjoyed quite well. I liked the chemistry between the quirky librarian, Hallie and the cocky mayor, Fitz. The friendship that blooms between them even as they vie for the position of mayor was quite adorable.
Overall, an enjoyable read.
Enemies-to-lovers in a small town setting - catnip for me!
Hallie is the town Librarian and Fitz is the latest in a long line of Mayoral candidates from his family. But Hallie wants to upset his apple cart and decides to run for Mayor too! Fitz just wants to show the town that there's more to him than his political pedigree.
Hallie is determination in human form - she may not win but she is determined to give it her all. Fitz was a bit of a dark horse - he learns a lot about his family's past and how far they would go to influence the town. He is most definitely more than the sum of his parts!
The MC's and the cast of friends and townsfolk felt well thought out, fully fleshed out and the romance had a Hepburn-Tracey feel to it. The banter is fab and there is level of respect between them, even when they are at odds.
Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
After a drunken celebration, librarian Hallie's best friend enters her in the mayoral race. Her opponent, Fitz, is from a prominent local family that's run the city for generations. He's also polished, charismatic, and incredibly hot. They're on opposite sides—so why is she falling for him?
This is cute and fun rom com with likable characters and an engaging plot.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
A sweet and sometimes swoony read, Fitz and Hallie's story had some great elements that kept me engaged and entertained.
The chemistry between Hallie and Fitz was palpable from the start and their banter worked to established their connection. Their initial escapades were sweet and endearing. However, as the story progressed the story focused more on community issues and less on the romance. I think the romance would have benefited in showing more of Fitz and Hallie's romantic encounters. Instead, these were told in passing, which ultimately prevented me in investing myself further in the romance.
Having said that, I enjoyed the characters, their intricacies and how well they complemented each other. I also enjoyed the citizens of Swan Cove and what they brought to their story. Even Fitz parents, although not likable at all, served their purpose in helping Fitz decide what he really wanted out of his life.
All in all, a fun, quick read.
This book has all the makings of a good romcom and overall I enjoyed it. It has a lot of good banter, a fun group of friends, and a unique premise set in small town Maine. I was drawn in by the title and cover, and then even more interested when I found out it was about a romance between two people running against each other for mayor.
While I absolutely loved Fitz, I just didn’t like Hallie and couldn’t understand why Fitz would fall for her. I found her rude but even worse, she has zero sense of humor and is constantly offended. While Fitz does have some growth over the course of the book, I really didn’t feel that Hallie did.
There is some steamy parts and it’s mostly light, but this book could’ve really used an epilogue. There is a lot going on and while they get their HEA, or maybe more of a HFN, it just kind of ends a little abruptly.
Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with an eARC of this book in return for my honest opinion.
Hottie on the self is a great enemies to lovers and small town rom com story! The two main characters Hallie and Fitz were both lovable in their own way, I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked Fitz's character, I assumed before I began reading he would be a bit of a snobby dick that had a redemption arc but I was definitely wrong (in the best way!) Barth's love story between small town librarian Hallie and Mayor Fitz is adorable, easy to read and fun! I loved the concept of the two lovers running against each other in the campaign to be the mayor of their small town, it was unique and something I haven't read before! My only complaint is that maybe Hallie and Fitz could have been enemies for a little longer, I feel that the flip to friends/lovers was quite quick but otherwise a fantastic read!
l had a lot of fun with this book, it’s a fantastic enemies to friends to lovers romcom in the small town setting of swan cove. Hallie the slightly reserved but incredibly intelligent librarian gets unwittingly thrown into the local mayoral race by her well meaning best friend against the current loved by all Mayor, Fitz Montgomery, who’s family have held the position for as long as there has been a mayor in swan cove. i loved Hallie’s drive and determination and the character arc she went on throughout the book but it was Fitz who was the stand out character for me, he’s smart, genuine, caring and not afraid to admit when he’s wrong and i really enjoyed the journey he went on. Hallie and Fitz have amazing chemistry together and their love story is wonderful, i only wish we had a few more romance moments with them.
anyone that’s a fan of fun small town romcoms with a great cast of characters and clever writing will enjoy this book.
i received an arc from the publisher for my honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I'm a huge fan of contemporary romance and this is one of the best I have ever read. I fell in love with the main characters right away. One is a librarian and the other a Mayor. On the surface, they have nothing in common but you know what they say; don't judge a book by its cover. The better they get to know each other, and the better we get to know them, we all realize sometimes looks can be deceiving. I also loved that it's not an instant love kind of story, rather the main leads fall in love with each other slowly. It was adorable to watch their relationship develop as they compete in an election. Love might be the most unlikely outcome of a political rivalry but in this case, it is perfect.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to all romance lovers. It will make you laugh and it make you fall in love. The story flows beautifully and all the characters are lovable.
Hottie On Her Shelf by Christie Barth is a fun Rom Com featuring the town librarian Hallie who just turned thirty, and wakes up to find that her best friend Megan took her drunken conversation seriously and put her on the ballot for mayor of Swan Cove, against the current mayor Fitz.
Fitz Montgomery never wanted to be a mayor but it was a family legacy of sorts. So he is thrilled to have some competition finally.
Hallie doesn’t quite know what to do. She has entered the competition at the very end and is new to politics. So Fitz helps her to even the playing field.
These two didn’t count on the sizzling chemistry between them. But what can come of it if they can’t even be seen alone in public together? And how will they ever get past the competition?
This is a little slow in the beginning and takes a while to heat up. But it does get better in the last part of the book.
Received an early copy and this is my honest review.
Cute story genre with the hot guy being held back by his parents and the cute librarian from the”wrong side of the tracks”. Super smart Hallie gets put on the ballot to replace the mayor, by her best friend and the hot guy with the right name. Fitz Montgomery is the golden boy, the mayor of the town that has always had a Montgomery running the town. However,he is totally under his parents thumb trying to do what they want. Along comes Hattie who shakes up his world. Lighthearted rom com is my jam, and I have always enjoyed Christi Barth’s stories.
"Hallie was suddenly glad they didn’t have a label for what they were doing, because it wasn’t like any other relationship she’d been in. They’d started off as enemies, softened a bit to rivals, and then become friends."

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
As a birthday gift, one of Hallie’s friends wrote her name in the candidate ballot to become mayor of their little town, Swan Cove. Against Hallie, is the actual mayor who comes from a legacy of mayor in Swan Cove, Fitz Montgomery. But being a librarian, Hallie doesn’t know anything about campaigning, Fitz will want to coach her because for once there is someone to run against him.
I absolutely adored this book, it was a fun, cute read. I really loved Hallie and Fitz’s relationship and how it evolved. I also really liked Hallie and Fitz support system. They both are amazing characters and I loved learning about them.
I absolutely recommend this book.

Hottie on Her Shelf is a fast-paced read with lots of drama, wit, sarcasm, and enough play on words that make it a fun read. This enemies-to-lovers romance follows Hallie and Fitz, both of whom are running for mayor. The ending felt a bit rushed, and some of the actions of the secondary characters seemed out of character.
This book was highly entertaining! I loved l the characters and the original plot. After a drunken night Hallie is running for mayor, instead of dropping out she does the opposite. Thank you for this arc !
I enjoyed my first read by Christi Barth. I loved Fitz and Hallie's banter. And because of that their story is really fun and entertaining. It felt like they're a made for each other too because they understand each other especially about their issues. They are each other's safe haven. I loved their relationship development. The side characters also add more flavor to the story and made it fun.
Meet Hallie. A small town librarian who is running for mayor against Mr. Has It All Fitz. There’s fizz and overflow when the two go head to head.
I wasn’t convinced of the chemistry between the two until almost the end.
It’s a cute read and a different spin on a political race besides the normal mud slinging affairs.

HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY!!!
This is an excellent beach read for the summer! Top notch.
Things I really enjoyed in this book:
* Small town setup
* Enemies to lovers story
* Perspective from both sides
* It's funny and real (They are actually talking to each other)
This was a great read. I'm not the biggest fan of the cover for some reason (too much pink for me), but the story was really enjoyable.
Book started with a bang and it went from there. The fact that the main characters was talking to each other was delightful. It is the main key for relationship to work and it definitely worked in this story. There were some steamy scenes and I was like uhh it's getting hot. But every scene felt rushed for some reason and it ended kind of cut too quickly. The fact that the two main characters each had a story separate storyline from the main story allowed me to get to know them better as characters. It was kind of hard to read only about their issues and seeing that they don't care about their friends issues at all, but then I kind of got the idea that this is the story about THEM -> Hallie and Fitz.
I didn't liked the last bit of the book. The end felt rushed a lot and I got the feeling that the writer needed to end things fast. And we could have managed to live without a few of those blabbering scenes. The book would have been shorter and there would be a way to end this book a bit more smoothly.
Thank You for the experience!
Big thanks to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for providing this ARC copy.
