I really struggled with this book. I kept waiting for something to happen. A predictable read which did not hold my attention. Full of so many unlikable characters but I did like the child. Saying that I am sure other readers will enjoy it more just not for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

This was a fun, twisty domestic thriller, with a peeling-the-onion approach to character development and story reveals.

I enjoyed this story of newlywed Tess, married to Oliver, and caring for Mason, their young son who is paralyzed from the waist down. Oliver is over-protective, and thwarts Tess’ attempts to build friendships in their new town.

An alternating storyline, from three years in the past, follows Tess as a young, live-in nanny. Tess lives in the mansion of Oliver’s wealthy and powerful older brother, and cares for his adopted son, Mason.

Following along with the two timelines, and the multiple lies and reveals along the journey, kept this novel moving along at a brisk pace. An engaging read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy - all thoughts are my own.

Kept me reading, good pace and tension, with a few surprises along the way. More of a beach read, easy to follow and tempting to keep turning the pages to find out who the hidden figure was, what really happened in the past and the identity of the mystery woman.

If you like twists and a book that keeps you thinking and guessing then this is the book for you!

I enjoyed the suspense throughout this book. From the very beginning it starts out strong. It has the back and forth from the past to the current to explain what lead to Tess' current life and situation.

This book is about murder, friendships, affairs, and secrets! I definitely recommend this book! Well written!

Book summary:
He swore he would always protect me, that he would take my darkest secret to the grave. But I’m starting to think he hasn’t told me his…

My husband and I are the dream couple: deeply in love, the envy of all our friends and neighbours. He surprises me with flowers, I make him his favourite meals and prepare picnics to enjoy with our son. It’s little gestures like this that keep our romance alive.

But nobody knows how frightened I am at night. Oliver promises he’ll keep me safe, but I can’t stop feeling like someone from my past is watching me. Coming for me. I could have sworn I saw someone watching me through the window, lurking in the shadows across the street. As I triple check that the doors are locked, and kiss my son goodnight, I’m terrified that someone knows my unspeakable secret, and that soon everything I love will be taken away…

And when my husband comes home with blood on his hands on the same night our neighbour goes missing, I realise I am not the only one hiding a terrible secret.

This is a book that you need to read for yourself! The book switches between two different timelines in Tessa’s life. The timeless helped quicken the pace of the book and it is a fast, twisted read. I never quite new who to trust, including Tessa.

Oliver and Tess have fled with their disabled son Mason after a really big event took place were Tess use to be Mason's Nanny and working for Oliver's brother. Sounds confusing? Not really, the writing of this book really breaks it down nicely. The flow of how this story presents with dual timelines really brought it to life. Oliver has sacrificed everything to keep Tess and Mason safe, while Tess has made her own sacrifices to make sure Mason stays safe.

I did feel at times like I wanted to shake Tess, just open your eyes woman and do the right thing! There are some really creepy factors, someone lurking around the house and at times even in the house. It really brings that mystery and thriller aspects to the table. You keep playing the guessing game and then when it comes together your astounded by the sheer brilliance of it. A really enjoyable book with loads of promise.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

This was a really quick read - I read it in a day! All the secrets and lies kept me reading! I loved the way the story went back and forth between the past and the present. And I liked the twists in the story closer to the end. This is my first book by L.G. Davis - can't wait to start another one.

Loved it! A hard scrabble girl, Tess, gets hired to be the nanny for the adopted son of Henry, ,a very wealthy man. She is living in his mansion and soon is sharing his bed. The housekeeper warned her to be ware, but she didn’t listen. An old flame enters the picture. Prompted his mother. Now Tess is living in the mansion with the new wife. Her only saving grace is Mason, her charge. She adores him and will do anything to keep him safe. So many twists and turns! Atmospheric and moody. The ending was a bit abrupt and a bit far fetched, but satisfying!

Dark, Domestic Noir…
A dream couple? A perfect life? Or nothing of the kind. Who is lying here and who is the keeper of secrets? A slow burn suspense with an appropriate sense of creeping menace and told effectively in a dual timeline. The cast of characters is mainly unlikeable but well drawn as the plot twists and turns and moves along to a, perhaps, surprising denouement. Dark, domestic noir.

Oooh my gosh I really really enjoyed this book! It hooked me in the very beginning and kept me hooked the whole time.

This had me hooked. I flew through it in a day and although in some ways its a bit slow and not really kuchen happens for quite a while, there is this tension and you are just waiting for everything to implode! The story is told from 2 timelines and the backstop is certainly essential to understanding why things are a big deal in the present. There's a pot of toxicicity, from most parties involved weirdly enough. Even the main character, who I'm assuming you're supposed to have some kind of empathy for and want to see her come out on top..... the pregnancy/ miscarriage storyline just shot that dead for me. These are all terrible people just finding new ways to abuse, lie and traumatise each kther. It is well written though, once little things start happening then the eerie feeling escalates and things spiral into the big finale..with that one final bomb shell revelation. If you don't put too much thought into it and it's quite a good wee book to read. These people are all just the worst of the worst though and as much as my curiosity pushed me through to find out what was going on, sadly it wasn't because I had any interest in any of the characters well being

Ooh, this book had it all! The secrets, the lies and the fear factor. I felt the sense of creepiness that Tess was living through and it gave me the shivers. As a main character, I really warmed to her and the chapters from her past were most intriguing.

I loved the writing style and, the past and present chapters. The setting was perfect; beautifully domestic. I could picture the street Tess lived on and the house from her past. I was gripped by the interactions between Tess and Oliver and the mystery that surrounded them. It totally drew me in and kept me turning those pages.

What a fantastic read. Loved, loved, loved ‘Liar Liar.’ I’d definitely recommend it!

What a strange book! The only likeable character is the child, who is the person that all of the angst stems from!? I don't think using a child is the best way to create a psychological perspective. However, the adults seem to justify their horrendous actions based on love for the little boy? I don't like Tess, or the men in her life, she comes off as desperate, needy, and will justify anything as long as she can be near the child, Mason. I think that the author is talented, but has some growing to do. It will be exciting to watch her develop her skills.
I recommend for people who like drama. Thank you #Netgalley #LiarLiar

Tess has been married to Oliver for the last few months. They care for a young boy and appear to have a secret, as they discuss being cautious with people. Tess thinks that she is being watched and also wonders if her husband is having an affair as he is spending more time away and being rather secretive with his phone. Alternate chapters take us back to Tess being a nanny for Oliver's wealthy brother Henry and her being enticed by his wieldy ways.
Oooh! This is one of those reads that begins almost “ domestic” and you wonder where it is going. There are a few hints at something but nothing specific which gives it a brilliant air of tension. Tess is very wary, Oliver less so but it appears that Tess has more to lose. Stunningly written I found myself enveloped between the pages not wanting to stop. A cleverly thought out plot which does not reveal until the very end. REally enjoyed it.

Well, hello creepiness. That’s the first thing I felt when I started this book and that first chapter pulled me in by the throat and would not let me go.

The story begins in the present and the author dangles the fact that there is a secret that can come out like a carrot in front of me. Little by little I creep closer to the truth.

Secrets… There different kinds of them. Of course everybody is entitled to have some. I guess there are always things you don’t want to tell or only to a happy few. Some secrets are innocent and a can kept hidden by telling a little white lie. Others though that are life changing for a lot of people, are due to come out sooner or later.

When something big has happened and you are a honest person, you want to do the right thing. Sometimes you are so devastated and panicking you let someone talk you into something you regret later. Because when you have to rely on someone to keep your secret, you are always bound to that person whether you like it or not. Desperate minds lead to desperate decisions, but maybe that’s right up someone’s alley?

There is no present without a past. So the author takes the reader back in time, to where it all began. The unravelling can begin. Each chapter gives a bit more away and every time when we were beamed to the present again, I was like ‘nooooo’, I want to stay here and find out more.

In the meantime, things started to blow up in the present too. Boom! Boom! Boom! More than once a bomb was dropped. I could never have imagined all that!

This author has written a great book where not so kind characters are eliminated. It’s also about forgiveness, second changes and love. Wonderful. 5 stars.

Thank you

Really slow to get going and predictable. It had potential but even the way it was written felt a bit bland and plastic. I hate giving negative feedback but it’s a no from me on this one

Liar Liar by L.G. Davis was such an exciting, page-turning book.

This is a well-written and at times intense story that I think will keep readers hooked to the very last page.
Davis built up the twists and turns, pulse pounding, and page turning excitement...and it delivered!
This book kept me absolutely hooked until the very end with a dramatic ending!

Whew! There was a lot going on in this book and I loved every minute of it!

Tess and Oliver are happily married and are raising their young son, Mason, who is in a wheelchair.
The family has recently relocated to a new town. The family likes to stay to themselves. Tess discovers text messages on Oliver's phone indicating that he is having an affair. Tess goes to great lengths to try to save her marriage, but that storyline is only the beginning.

What devastating secrets are Tess and Oliver hiding?

The book switches from past to present and I was riveted from the beginning. It was a fast read, with plenty of twists along the way. I have never read another book by this author, I would definitely recommend and look forward to more books by L.G. Davis.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. I felt this book was very meh. I didn't find it suspenseful-didn't think the description really matched the book. There was a shock at the ending but I didn't even finish the book once I found out for sure who the killer was.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC of Liar Liar by L.G. Davis.

Tess and Oliver are a married couple with their son Mason confined to a wheelchair after an accident causing injury to his spinal cord. They recently moved to a new neighborhood looking for new beginnings. However, not everything is as picture perfect as it seems and they will do anything to keep their past buried. When Tess starts to suspect her husband of having an affair, things quickly start to spiral out of control and her worst fears and nightmares may soon come true.

After reading a few duds, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It doesn't try too hard to surprise you left and right with twists as so many books now do, although I was surprised by a few revelations towards the end. It simply tells you a story in dual timelines, slowly bringing you to it's conclusion. It sweeps you in from the first few pages and keeps you intrigued and wanting more by the end. I definitely recommend this one to my fellow thriller readers and will be patiently waiting to see what this author has in store for us next.
