thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the copy.
I dnf’d this book at 30%, I could not get into it. the characters and plot were not for me.
Eve and Millie are twins and when Millie is released from prison, for a crime she didn’t commit, hastens over to Eve’s house. She doesn’t get the welcome she thought she deserved so plotted her revenge. This is no thriller, not when the whole plot is revealed in the blurb. To my mind it should be placed in either the fantasy or humour category as it was hilarious! There was nothing at all realistic about any of it, or the gruesome characters. Not even a satisfying ending as it seemed hurried as if even the author was fed up with the shenanigans. All in all, it was entertaining but not for the right reasons!
An easy read full of twists and turns and a shocking end that I didn’t see coming - I’m pretty certain you won’t either. I couldn’t believe that the major twist happened so close to the beginning, and it did make me question where Emily was going to take the book but… Emily, it was so clever! A nice quick thriller.
This is an absolute gem!!! I’ve been so excited about this book and it hasn’t disappointed.absolutely will be recommending this book to anyone who will listen to me.
It’s hard to believe that when Millie comes out of prison, she wants to forgive her sister for framing her for a murder she didn’t commit – just so that sister (Eve) could live the life she felt she was entitled to. But try to forgive her she does. Until Eve makes it clear that she wants to nothing to do with Millie, and has no intention of sharing her ill-gotten gains. At which point, she takes the law into her own hands, kills Eve, and takes over her life.
And what a life. There’s luncheons, and Pilates, and designer clothes. And there’s Gareth, a man who doesn’t like to be told no and who – realising that Eve is now Millie – will stop at nothing to get his way. To say it wasn’t quite what Millie expected is an understatement. The question now is, how does she get out of it? And can she without killing again?
I would like to say that I was interested in the answer, and whether Millie ended up living the life she, like Eve, felt she deserved. But I have to be honest, I didn’t. I finished this book because it was a review copy and I felt that I should. If it hadn’t have been, I may well have put it down and not picked it up again.
Why? Because, while it started well, with the killing of Eve and the appearance of Gareth, after that, it just didn’t grab me. I didn’t like or dislike Millie enough to care what happened to her and Gareth, as well as the other central character, Mya, felt flat and predictable. Yes, they were evil, but they didn’t seem very clever – and neither did Millie. Just one example (without spoilers): Mya wants to know what Millie is up to so puts a tracker in her car – then proceeds to tell her as way of a warning; you would expect Millie to maybe not drive the car (or take off the tracker) – instead, she uses it to follow Mya around town.
It all left me feeling really frustrated. Which is why I would find it difficult to recommend this book – sorry!. 3 out of 5 stars.
Just finished Her Perfect Life by Emily Shiner and I was not disappointed! This book takes you on a long journey of Millie, a twin to Eve, who was convicted of murdering Eve's husband although she did not do it. This book follows alongside Millie and how she seeks to live Eve's "perfect life."
I did not finish this title. I was not hooked from the beginning and lost steam to continue. Perhaps just not my style.
This fast paced suspenseful novel will have you on the end of your seat there’s nothing like a good plot twist after being up all night reading !
I got this book from #NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. It could be made into a Lifetime tv movie. It was a bit repetitive at times and boring.
Millie just served a long prison sentence for murder, a murder she didn't commit and was framed for by her own sister Eve. Once released she seeks out her sister hoping that they can repair their relationship and be sisters again. Eve rejects her and that leads to Millie plotting her revenge against her sister. She sees her sister having this perfect life and wants it for herself. But she soon discovers it is anything but perfect, and she too is trapped. I loved the way the plot played out and I definitely didn't see that ending coming at all. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.
Well, that did NOT end how I thought it would! Book Clubs will have a lot to discuss with this book! There were some obvious plot holes, but if you can overlook those and go along with the story, it's a great read!
A wild unbelievable murder mystery thrilling read!
The story begins with Millie being released from prison after ten years because she is not guilty of murder. Her twin sister Eve framed her for murdering Eve's husband.
Millie goes to visit Eve and decides she wants Eve's life. It's just too perfect. Not all twins are super close nor loving and these fit that bill of being unloving toward the other for sure.
I did not like one character in the story but that was the point to not like anyone.
There were many surprises since this is a thriller, and the story is told from many person's perspective.
The book kept me engaged and reading straight through the the end.
This was another hit from what is becoming a favorite author.
Thank you NetGalley, the author and the publisher.

Talk about double trouble! “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”. Milly is released from prison for serving time for a murder her twin sister committed. Milly devises a plan to take over her sister’s life, but is her sister’s life what she really wanted? There are some buried secrets about her sister’s life that Milly is not so sure she ended up on the right side of justice. There is also a big twist at the end of the story. Great book!
Love this book and author! An unpredictable storyline when a sister takes over her twin's life. The plot continually thickens right till the very end. 5 out of 5!
This is one of those cases where maybe the grass isn’t greener on the other side of the fence. While I didn’t like any of the characters in the book, I was compelled to keep reading to find out who would win out. I think it was an author’s choice to not have any likable characters. It’s a little bit of cat and mouse and a lot of very subtle bullying. There is a lot of what I’d call misdirection, because no one is close enough to call them secrets. There isn’t a lot to say without potentially spoiling the plot.
A book I read in a day with an ending I did not see coming. Another what more can you want from the book.
i liked this book, it shows you sometimes you think others have a better life than you, not always. the old saying from frying pan to the fire comes to mind. sometimes reality can be nothing like you imagined it to be.
An enjoyable thriller. I would try other books by this author. Thank you to Netgalley for giving me a chance to read an early copy of this book.
Eve and Millie are sisters. Millie went to prison for what Eve did. So when she gets out she wants Eves life. But Eve didn't have the perfect life.
A brilliant read. I love Millies character. The story moved marvellously. I finished the book overnight. The book supercharged me. That’s says something. For one, I am motivated enough to read more of her other books.
Good first book for me for this author will def be looking for other things by this author logos read enjoyed it. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC
This was a decent thriller but I just felt it lacked something to keep me gripped,Millie is framed for her brother in law’s murder by her own sister Eve so she finally gets released from prison Millie sets out to steal her sisters perfect life. But when she does so,she gets more than she bargained for in shape of Mya and Gareth.Set in the USA I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre but like i said it didn’t keep me turning the pages, but that said I will give it 4 stars.
