Emily is a professor who goes off into the wilds to catalog more about faeries for her academic work and encyclopaedia. This basic into in no way encompasses the absolutely magical and enchanting storytelling that is created in this book!
I really wasn’t sure what to expect, but from the beginning it ended up being exquisite. First, her writing is a joy to read. It is descriptive, melodic, straightforward, and beautiful. Nothing is trite or over the top. Her story combines the best of myths with an engrossing tale and a strong and capable heroine.
The story had a complete and satisfying arc. All the characters were well created. It was happy without being over the top.
Highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC
I want to thank NetGalley for a chance to read this book.
I adored this book. I couldn’t stop reading and was drawn in from the first sentence. The story was unique, it was well written, and had excellent character development. I felt like I was in the story with the characters. I definitely plan on re-reading this in the future and can’t wait to read more from this author.
This book was so fun to read! This book has the same structure and feeling of reading an adventure book as a kid. The story was very engaging and never dragged on.
I don't know a lot about Folklore, but from what I can tell, this book was accurate and represented the lore very well and respectfully.
All in all I will be recommending this to everyone! My only suggestion is in the physical copy include drawings or small sketches on the pages to give it more of a journal/encyclopedia feel! Diagrams, maps, and more details make books like this even better!
I will be posting what I stated above, minus the suggestion for sketches, in my goodreads, storygraph and literal pages. I will additionally post a TikTok review saying the same in the next 1-2 weeks!
