You Better Run by Willow Rose is #11in the Eva Rae Thomas series. Willow Rose is one of my favorite authors and I’ve read lots of her books. They are always thrilling reads. You Better Run doesn’t disappoint. It’s compelling from the very beginning.

Meg wakes up after a night of partying, a party she threw without her mother’s knowledge as she was out of town. She finds a girl dead in the pool. The thing is the dead girl is her! How can that be? She doesn’t have a sister, let alone a twin. When Susan, Meg’s mother comes home and finds out what happened she disappears. Why? What does she know? FBI Profiler Eva Rae Thomas is brought in to find out.

Multiple story and time lines make it a little confusing at first. There are many surprises as the story is reveled bit by bit. This is a psychological thriller you won’t want to put down. Lots of twists and turns in this twisted and bizarre story. It keeps you guessing all the way through. A ending that will leave you shocked.

I received a free ARC from the author, Netflix and the publisher Buoy Media and I would like to thank them for the chance to read this gripping thriller.

19 year old Meg Briggs has a party at her mothers house while she’s out of town. The next morning, a dead girl is found in the pool and she looks just like Meg. The problem is, Meg doesn’t have a twin. Or does she?

Eva Rae Thomas is an FBI profiler. She’s called in to help identify the dead girl and find the killer. What she finds is that Meg’s mom is keeping a secret that could get innocent people killed.

This is book 11 in the Eva Rae Thomas mystery series. It was suspenseful and a good mystery. I would recommend.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

You Better Run is the 11th installment in the detective Eva Rae series. Although this is a series, I haven’t read any of the previous books and it did not impact my understanding at all.

This book just wasn’t for me. I really struggled to get through it and found myself skimming just to finish it. The dialogue felt really unnatural and forced, especially anytime Eva Rae was trying to talk to her teenage non-binary child. That entire plot point - Eva Rae trying to wrap her head around her child coming out as non-binary - felt so strange. If there was more of a characterization focus, it could have been a powerful plot point that showcases another side of Eva Rae…but unfortunately it just fell flat.

The plot itself was interesting and reminiscent of a Criminal Minds episode. A teenage girl throws a big party while her mom is out of town. The morning after the party, the teens realize there is a body floating in the pool. When they pull it out, they are shocked to see that the dead girl looks identical to the host of the party - who is still very much alive, and does not have a sibling. The book is twisty, but relatively predictable and at times a bit outlandish. I’d say if you like sort of over the top crime shows (like Criminal Minds) and don’t mind less thoughtful characterization, you’d probably enjoy this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Buoy Media for providing me with a free digital copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.

You Better Run, the newest book in Willow Rose’s excellent Eve Rae Thomas series. When Meg Briggs wakes up after a wild party she discovers she’s been killed. Well, not her exactly, but the dead girl floating in her pool just happens to be a dead ringer for her! How is that possible and who killed her? Fans of the series will not be disappointed. This is one wild and twisty thriller. Thanks so much to Buoy Media for letting me read and review an ARC of You Better Run.

You Better Run starts with a bang, or rather a splash, and continues the fast, twisty pace until the end. Until about the 80% mark, this book was a 5-star read for me, with several different story/timelines being told, and the constant tension of how they were going to finally come together keeping me intrigued. The mystery of who is chasing Susan, who murdered the girl in the pool, and how the story of Tom and Raina is related to Susan's story had lots of surprises that were revealed bit by bit. The ending was, in my opinion, a bit odd and unbelievable, which kept me from completely loving this book.

I have not read any books by Willow Rose prior to You Better Run, but feel that the story was easily a stand-alone. I will likely try to start the series at the beginning, as there were a few references to prior storylines, though I did not feel that dropping into this book was an issue.

Thank you to Netgalley, Buoy Media and the author, Willow Rose, for the opportunity to read an advance copy of You Better Run. The opinions in this review are my own.

You Better Run
By Willow Rose

It’s been raining like crazy here, so I’ve been flying through some books!

This was my first book from Author Willow Rose, and have to say, it was a great little thriller.

Lots of twists and turns, a bit of a shocking ending, kept me reading the entire way through.

I did find the book to be a little confusing in spots, just do to the “now and then” timelines. I had to go back and re-read a little and make sure I was correct on who was who.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 as it held my attention, kept me turning the pages, and even surprised me a little!

This book has a pub date of today!! So go grab it and check it out for yourself!

Thanks to @netgalley and @buoymedia for the E-ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I haven't read an Eva Rae book in a while and I plan to go back and catch up. I was impressed with the plot twists and they left me guessing until the end. Quick read.

This was my first read by author Willow Rose and it did not disappoint. I was immediately sucked in from the very first chapter and I could not put it down. I was intrigued and I just had to know where this other twin came from! The key takeaway for me from this book is how we get chapters from the past. That essentially gave little cookie crumbs of the why this has happened leading up to the present. I was truly shocked at the outcome. I never imagined that was going to be the reveal. I mean I kept wondering what could have happened to this person but never in my wildest imagination did I think that!! I'm sorry for being so vague because you have to experience it for yourself. Let me point out that poor Susan went through some things, she was like a cat with 9 lives! I really like Eva Rae too. She had this dry sense of humor but you could still connect with her. Now I need to go back and read more of Eva Rae's mysteries, I am hooked!

A great psychological suspense thriller that gives you all the twists and spins that you want to see by a fantastic author. Just when you think you have it all figured out ... Boom!! Meg Kellan was talked in to throwing a party while her mom is out of town. The next morning her boyfriend Trevor spots a body at the bottom of the pool. He dives in and pulls her out. The girl looks just like Meg! Does Meg have a twin? Is one of the twins good and one of them bad?

Loaded with suspense, twists, danger and lies. It goes back and forth from present to past so you get to see why this happened. This is book #11 in the Eva Rae Thomas series and can certainly be read as a stand-alone but don't ... start at the beginning and enjoy the ride.

YOU BETTER RUN is one TWISTY psychological suspense thriller! Talk about human evil, twisted and bizarre and convoluted and maximally unexpected revelations! Also this novel brings serious LGBTQ + rep, as the Series protagonists (FBI Special Agent Eva Rae Thomas is confronted by a non-binary approach and Gender Dysphoria in her immediate family (and emotionally stumbled and freaks out); and farther into the story comes an additional case of Gender Dysphoria with evil and tragic consequences. I read it in one I-can't-stop-reading session. There's also romance and other emotional entanglements, and some very perturbing scenes and multiple villains.

Thank you NetGalley, Buoy Media and Willow Rose for making it possible to read and review “You Better Run” in exchange for an honest review.

The cover drew me in at first glance. The colours are very appealing and the girl with the red jacket, walking away gives it a certain kind of mystery. Love it.

This is my first book by Willow Rose, so I am jumping head-first into book eleven of the Eva Rae Thomas mysteries. Recently I am devouring a lot of books about twins.

A body in a pool is never a good thing. Especially when you’re 19 and throwing a party without permission. That’s what Meg found out the hard way. But it does not stop there. The girl in the pool looks exactly like Meg. Twins. Meg never had a clue she even had a twin, let alone a dead one in their pool. We get to join FBI agent Eva Rae and her colleagues Matt and Chief Annie, investigating the murder of the twin.

We get multiple Story lines in this novel. The prologue is told by Meg. Then we have her mother Susan, the mysterious Raina and of course Eva Rae, amongst others. I especially liked the first person POV from Eva. Never having read the other books she stars in, it’s nice to get some background about who she is, other than a FBI agent.

The constant switching between story lines got me confused in the beginning, then it got easier. The book is very fast paced and the writing was fluent. For most parts I had a hard time piecing it all together. That’s a good thing, though, it kept the mystery alive. Always when I thought I knew something, I did not. I found the end a bit weird though. The good twin, bad twin theory. It all came out of nowhere really, some very subtle hints only. It was not bad, but it went bonkers very quickly. I liked the twist, but it felt a bit too crazy.
