This was a good read! Kept me guessing throughout of what really happened then and what was happening now. I really liked the story but I didn’t really care for the daughter. The mother daughter issues were a bit annoying and the daughter’s attitude toward the mother was just over the top. It took away from the story in my opinion and made me enjoy the book less. Without that, I loved the book.
I really liked the mother’s narration but I didn’t love the portrayal of the other narrator who was the daughter. She was a bit over the top and annoying to listen to.
With All the Dirty Secrets, new to me author Aggie Blum Thompson presents a novel that is so masterfully crafted with twisty suspense, it feels like something that comes from the mind of Alfred Hitchcock. Combined with the excellent narration by Hillary Huber and Josephine Huang, the reader is presented with a novel that is both written and narrated in such a way that I was unable to figure out what was happening while keeping me on pins and needles anticipating the big reveal.
Additionally, the story occurs both in the present and thirty years in the past and both time periods blend together so smoothly, the reader barely notices the shift. Understanding the background of all of the characters took a little bit of time as well as who was responsible for the two deaths.
If I had a problem with any part of the story, it was mainly centered around Zoe and her attitude towards her mother. I understood she’s a teenager and just found the dead body of her best friend but knowing that her mother went through something similar with her own best friend should have brought them closer together. Instead, Zoe acted like a petulant brat and I felt bad for Liza, who feels like she is losing her daughter and there isn’t anything she can do about it.
Understanding how the two deaths are connected in addition to the mountain sized pile of secrets everyone is keeping really ripped the rug out from under me. I really liked Liza and for the most part found her behavior and choices reasonable and understandable given the situations she finds herself.
My Final Verdict: This book illuminates brightly the problems that can and do occur when terrible things happen and are then covered up and people you thought you knew are keeping massive secrets. No amount of time passing will ever diminish the truth from eventually coming out and it packed quite a punch when it did. I highly recommend this book to fans of twisty thrillers, mysteries and novels of suspense. I think Alfred Hitchcock would approve.

All The Dirty Secrets is an amazing thriller. I like the characters. Zoe the angry teenager is my favorite character. I remember feeling exactly like Zoe when I was a teen. I love that there is a mystery within a mystery. My guess was nowhere near the actual killer, so devastated. This was my first book by this author but it won't be the last. Great Book Aggie
Liza works at a posh private school in Washington, DC, the school she attended as a teen. Her own daughter, Zoe, is a junior at the school now.
28 years ago, Liza's friend died during a beach week graduation celebration in what was assumed an accidental drowning. History seems to be repeating itself when Zoe's best friend dies during a beach week celebration, another apparent accidental drowning. But Liza begins to suspect that the two deaths are somehow related and that neither were accidents. As she seeks answers, both Zoe and herself become targets.
When I first started this novel, the main characters irritated me and I thought I would not enjoy the book. But I was quickly engrossed by the story and grew to like both Zoe and Liza. It was a good mystery that kept me guessing.
I was given an ARC of this novel by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

If we don’t learn from history, it’s bound to repeat itself. Or at least it seems that way to Liza when her daughter’s best friend dies the same way her best friend did 25 years prior.
This author never disappoints. She leaves you guessing until the very end. I can’t wait to read more of this authors work!
I liked the narrators for this audiobook. The narrator for the Zoey was a little grating but that’s a teenager voice.
So many secrets! And so many crappy people telling them! This was a great story and I was totally hooked from the beginning. I really love that Liza would not stop looking for the truth and when she finds it doesn't back down and continue the lies. Even though it hurt her tremendously to do so. I have never read any of Aggie Blum Thompson's books before this so I am going to add her backlog of books to my TBR!
I really enjoyed this story! The book is very well written. I enjoyed how the story is told and the narration is great.
I really enjoyed this one! It’s in the vein of Big Little Lies, which is my favorite trope. It’s juicy and full of secrets and drama.
It’s set in a posh area of DC, around a school, where there’s a tradition of beach week. When Liza’s class is at beach week, one girl dies.
Many years later, Liza has a teenager and a similar situation happens at beach week. Are they somehow related?
I’m always excited to try a new author, and this was my first from Aggie Blum Thompson.
There were so many emotions going on throughout the story, and I thought that it was an entertaining read overall.

This was the first book I read by Aggie Blum Thomson and I enjoyed it! I am looking forward to reading more books by her!
Two deaths, two decades apart, how are they connected? They can't possibly be connected, right??? Who knows.
This book kept me guessing the whole time and was thoroughly entertaining! It was a quick read that I highly recommend!

Oh what a beautiful mess this story is! Mother and daughter fighting through events, past and present, so similar in nature. Do you really know your best friends? Their deep, dark and dirty secrets?
This thriller will bring you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Between happy memories and girls having fun to frustration and anger. There are some well laid red herrings that make you think the worst of one character, just to throw a twist in.
QOTD: Do you read thrillers? If so, what's a favourite? If not, what genre do you prefer?
Thank you to @NetGalley and @Macmillan.Audio for this audiobook!
Entertaining and fast-paced. This is a recommended purchase in all formats for collections where thrillers are popular.
This was such an entertaining read!
Was part of it easy to guess? Maybe for people who read a lot of thrillers.
Did I enjoy it? Absolutely!
I could guess who was involved but had to wait to the end for it all to come together.
Long buried secrets are resurrected as tragedies from the past repeat themselves. Friendships are tested and lives are forever changed as truths are revealed. Sometimes danger is closer than you think and villains may hide in plain sight. All of these scenarios play out in All the Dirty Secrets. The narration perfectly executes this twisted tale of betrayal, deception and murder. What would you risk in order to protect those nearest and dearest? Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my audiobook.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
ALL THE DIRTY SECRETS

Mystery/Thriller
After a tragic death on a beach 25 years ago, the same thing happens again in present day. A tightly knit group of friends and one teen must dig deep to find answers to what is
happening around them.
This was definitely a mail-biter, edge of your seat kind of book. I couldn't stop reading once I started it. Though there are some pretty graphic scenes in this, it was definitely a 5 star read for me.
After reading and loving Thompson’s debut of I Don’t Forget You, I knew I couldn’t wait to read more from her! I relish in any academia settings, especially when it’s a private school - let the drama ensue!!
Told in flawlessly executed alternating timelines and multiple POVs of Liza and her daughter Zoe, this story totally consumed me and I absolutely devoured it! I loved that there was a current day mystery as well as a cold case in the past timeline, making this read extremely multilayered and super intriguing!
While the subject matter can be unsettling and disturbing at times, this story was just incredibly well done, complex, and ultimately a wild and twisty ride!
All the Dirty Secrets was my first from Aggie Blum Thompson and I really liked her approach to this dual timeline thriller about girls who get murdered on "beach week" in their town. As the mother & daughter in this both try and unravel the mystery surrounding why each of their friends were murdered the same week decades apart for unknown reasons. While both were ruled a suicide, neither woman believes this and the search for answers continues. I absolutely loved the narration of this and thought both women were excellently voiced. The ending was a total shocker to me and I felt so satisfied by it. This is full of female empowerment, the broken bond between a mother and her daughter, and the secrets their friends held from them. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a well thought out plot, slightly predictable but still well told. The flipping of story telling perspectives gave this a unique depth. However the narrator change was a little sharp to me. I was not a huge fan of the narrator for the girl.
The story had good twists and turns and held my interest throughout. Overall a good listen
3.5 stars
Duplicitous friends,, long buried secrets and a historical mystery made this book an engaging and eye-popping read. Although I found the pacing off for the first half and kept waiting for something to happen, the second half really picked up and was jam packed with twists and explosive reveals. The audiobook was terrific. A lively performance that drew me in. If readers are in the mood for an unpredictable mystery thriller, check this one out.
Thank you to MacMillan Audio and Netgalley for an advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I would describe this as 'just ok' in terms of plot and characters. And the narrator for the teen girl was way too over the top -- it really distracted from the audio book.
