Sally Hepworth never disappoints, and this is her best book yet! The flawed but wonderful characters, the setting, the twisted storyline and the dual POV, both past and present all combine to make this story a hit! I won't give away any spoilers, but I will say that I was pleasantly surprised to see more than one twist in this story that I did not anticipate. I was completely drawn in from page one.

Be sure to pick this one up when it releases in 2023.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC. I definitely enjoyed this book right from the get go. I found the plot to be unique and twisty in a way I didn't expect, and the characters were well developed without boring me.

I would definitely recommend this if you are wanting a fast paced read with twists and turns throughout.

I felt like this book was a domestic drama thriller for sure. I almost stopped reading it due to the talk of suicide in the beginning, but I'm glad I kept going with it. Gabe and Peppa had this family life that from the outside looked like it was going really well, but there were layers and layers of issues underneath. This book did not end in the way I thought it would. I have enjoyed reading several of Sally Hepworth's books. These books give you many things to ponder in your own life.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC of The Soulmate. Publication date is April 4, 2023.

The Soulmate is the perfect title for this book.

Setting is near Melbourne where Gabe and Pippa Gerard purchase a house on a cliff that over looks the ocean. Gabe loves to surf and is a stay at home dad while Pippa is an attorney. The cliff is known as The Drop since people have gone there to end their lives. Gabe has been known to talk people out of their suicidal thoughts to the point he received recognition for it in the local paper, some called him the Hero.

One day a woman shows up and this is the one that turned their entire lives upside down. When she died, there are so many questions in which Gabe has been forthright with the police. There are a lot of secrets surrounding Gabe.

Very good read for those that love a good suspense novel. Sally Hepworth is a new author for me and I am excited to read a lot more of her books.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this wonderful novel in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book!

It's a domestic suspense full of mystery, complex relationships, and unexpected twists. I loved the way the story was told - through multiple timelines and dual POVs. The chapters were short and provided and withheld the perfect amount of detail. I couldn't put it down!

CW: suicide, death, infidelity, mental health

Definitely a 5 star review. I couldn’t put this book down! A great plot line that had me guessing until the last page. I will be looking for more books by Sally Hepworth in the future.

The Mother-in-Law remains my favorite Sally Hepworth novel, but I will now highly recommend The Soulmate as well. The Soulmate is a solid mystery into whether Amanda Cameron jumped to her death, or whether Gabriel Gerard pushed her. Along the way, the reader learns the connections between Amanda and Gabriel as well as the secrets they (and their spouses) tried to hide.

I enjoyed the alternating perspectives and timelines. It was very unique to read the perspective of Amanda "after" her death! After not loving The Younger Wife nearly as much as some of Hepworth's earlier work, I was glad to be captivated by The Soulmate as equal parts domestic drama and psychological thriller.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I look forward to all of Sally Hepworth's novels. She is a favorite of mine, for sure. The Soulmate is a twisty family drama that kept me turning pages. Gabe and Pippa have recently moved to begin their life and marriage anew. Their house stands on a cliff which is known as a suicidal jumping spot. The story begins as they spot a woman near the cliff one night. Through Pippa's words, we learn that Gabe has a gift for talking people down. But this night is different. The woman jumps while Gabe was standing nearby. As the police are called and investigations begin, we hear from Pippa and from the woman who jumped (both before and after her death). Two women, two marriages, two couples...secrets begin to reveal themselves and things start unraveling. What really happened on that cliff? What did that woman's life and death have to do with Pippa and Gabe?

Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this suspenseful novel!

One day a woman is at the cliff, also known as "the spot", at Gabe and Pippa's cottage in Melbourne. People have been known to jump from here and Gabe has talked many potential jumpers out of it. This one evening however, the woman falls. Pippa sees through the window a different story than what Gabe is telling her and the police. Who is this woman and how is she connected to Gabe and his family?

WOW, talk about a binge-worthy book. THE SOULMATE had me up at 4am!! I have been a long time fan of Sally Hepworth and she just continues to amaze me each year with her newest novel. I really enjoyed the the alternating past and present point of views. This story is not boring and you can easily binge it in a days time. I highly recommend putting THE SOULMATE high on your TBR list, if you have not already. Be prepared for many twists!!

This book is excellent. Sally Hepworth does not disappoint. Her characters are quirky and fun but there is also a a
dark mystery brewing. You are drawn into the story right away and you want to know more about what happened and the backstories of the characters. I read this book in two days. I did not want it to end! I've never read a Sally Hepworth book I did not love! Highly Recommend.

When Sally Hepworth releases a new book, you better believe I am going to read it... and love it. This is my fourth book by her, and once again, she delivers. I could have read The Soulmate in one sitting, but I have a job and children, so unfortunately that could not happen. :)

Quick synopsis:
Gabe and Pippa live with their two little girls in a beautiful home on a cliff above the sea. It's a fresh start after some setbacks in their marriage. The only problem to their new start: the cliff is nicknamed "The Spot" for how popular it is among suicidal people. Gabe has a knack for being able to talk people down and "save them," until one day he is unable to save a woman from taking her life. While Gabe is distraught, Pippa is even more so as she is pretty sure she saw Gabe push her. As it turns out, the woman was not a stranger and Pippa must find out the truth of what really happened.

The ending to this one was WILD. I probably would've given this book 4 stars, but the last 10% pushed it up to 4.5. Sally's crazy, unpredictable, shocking endings always get me. Pick this one up if you are looking for a suspenseful domestic thriller.

I feel like I flew through this book! This is the first book I've read by Sally Hepworth, and I will definitely have to check out her others! The chapters were short, which I always love. Despite the chapters being from 2 different POV's and 2 different timelines, it wasn't at all confusing. I did think the "my husband is perfect" thing was a little over-the-top, and they forgave each other for things that just aren't forgivable in my opinion, but it's fiction right. Overall, a great read! (I also love the cover!)

I think this is my favorite book by Sally!
This was a true page turner, the characters were well written and the plot was fantastic.
A really great thriller/mystery and a character plot twist I didn’t see coming.
4.5 stars rounded up to 5!

This is my second Sally Hepworth book and I am quickly becoming a fan!

Gabe, Pippa, and their two daughters move into a beautiful mansion near a cliff but unfortunately, it is a popular spot for people wishing to end their life. Gabe, the sensitive and charismatic father becomes a local celebrity due to his ability to talk people away from suicide. One day, a woman is standing on the cliff and Gabe is unsuccessful in his quest to save her. The story quickly evolves into a suspenseful thriller with lots of questions and twists. I particularly appreciated Hepworth's treatment of mental health and its effects on those that care for those suffering.

A big thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Happy Pub Day to Sally Hepworth and her brilliant new book, The Soulmate!

Pippa and Gabe have recently moved into a beautiful home situated along the cliffs in a quiet, beachside town - a place that people go to getaway for the weekend and spend school holidays.
However, they quickly learn that their new backyard, nicknamed The Drop, may seem stunning and picturesque, but it has gathered a bit of a dark reputation as the place that people go to take their own lives.

Since moving into their new home, Gabe has been named a local hero, helping save seven people from jumping. Until one afternoon when a beautiful woman shows up to The Drop and Gabe goes out to help but he’s soon seen standing at the side of the cliff alone.

This event sparks a series of doubts in Pippa’s mind until she’s faced with the ultimate question: Is her soulmate really who she thinks he is?

This book was so good! Not only did it leave me guessing several times, but there were a few times I gasped out loud and got the chills! I can’t wait to read it again!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC! And thank you Sally Hepworth for transporting me back to Melbourne for a minute - I can’t wait for this to come out in the States so I can add it to my library!

I could not put it down. The story is told in dual POV’s alternating between Pippa and Amanda. This book left me speechless which doesn’t happen too often. It was refreshing to read a thriller that was actually thrilling.
This book is so full of twists and turns be careful not to get whiplash! I loved the juicy domestic drama. I found this book very hard to put down and kept making time to read it. It's gripping, shocking, dramatic, full of secrets, and left me with my mouth hanging open a couple of times.

Hepworth has done it yet again! This is now my favorite book by her.

Bring on the darkness and the good vibes for this book. This book fits my aesthetics for dark humor and tragic love stories with plot twists. I was surprised with how the author manifests the perfect approach to mental illness and dysfunctional relationships. This book is perfect for those who want a little dark twist in their lives. This is a cant put down until I finish book. There are a bunch of trigger warnings that should be labeled before the reader starts. I am so happy to review this before the release date and I want to thank the publisher and Netgalley for providing it to me.
