I really enjoyed this book because the plot kept changing gears. I enjoyed the writing style of the book, although there was a bit of a slow burn in the beginning. Overall, this story had me sitting at the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next! You could never have the "perfect soulmate" This was the perfect book to finish off my spooky reads for the month of October. Thank you so much for this ARC copy of The Soulmate.
So this was my MOST anticipated read for 2023 and the way I screamed when I seen I was approved for this ARC.. Thank you SO much NetGalley and St Martin's Press. This book did NOT disappoint and it was everything I was hoping for. I read this all in one sitting and.. the way it kept me up ALL night after.. I was sucked into this book from the beginning and on an absolute thrilling ride until the very end. Sally Hepworth literally NEVER disappoints.. I was so incredibly intrigued the entire book.. I truly want to read it again because I loved it so much lol. If I suggest any thriller, this is the oneeee!! 10/10
I loved this book! Probably my favorite Sally Hepworth book so far! The characters were great, and the story was captivating !
The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth is a great twisty little thriller! Just when you think you have it figured out, there is another shocking development. I devoured this as I couldn’t wait to see how it ended! The Soulmate is a perfect book to bring on vacation or a road trip! Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC!
A loving family, a tragic death, opening up hidden depths, secrets, lies, and misunderstandings. The denouement is skillfully revealed holding the reader in tightly woven suspense with perspectives on marriage and loyalty. Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this advanced readers copy.
This book caught my attention from the first page. I love a good Australian setting! The premise to start is so different to other books I have read. Would definitely recommend! It kept me guessing until the end and I couldn’t put it down!
I love Sally Hepworth, but this novel was just ok. Some areas of the story just fell a little flat for me.
An exploration of the good and bad sides of marriage coupled with mental illness, a very volatile workplace, and a house on a cliff. I loved this book so much and quite literally could not put it down.
This is my second Sally Hepworth novel (I loved The Younger Wife on Audible) and I so enjoy her quick chapters and how she tells such multidimensional stories from dual perspectives so seamlessly.
This story is told from the perspectives of Pippa, wife of enigmatic Gabe, and Amanda, wife of Gabe’s boss, Max, and the woman who died outside of Pippa and Gabe’s cliff side home. Was Amanda one of the many people who come to The Drop to end it all or did Gabe have something to do with Amanda’s death? This is the crux of the story and nothing — and no one — are what they seem.
Thank you Net Galley and St Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
When Pippa & Gabe move to a seaside cottage on a cliff nick named "The Drop" due to its popularity with suicidal people, Gabe ends up earning a reputation for saving quite a number of troubled people. Everything goes well until one day, the troubled woman on the cliff is someone Gabe recognizes.....and life tumbles into chaos.
Initially, I thought this was a very interesting concept. However, while I was reading it was a little distracting that they had two young daughters. I am a parent, and I feel like I speak for 99% of parents when I say no one in their right mind would let two young kids live on a cliff like that. No way. I thought maybe there was some way the kids would end up being crucial to the storyline, but other than a brief and ultimately inconsequential moment, it never happened. I'm not really sure why they were in the story to begin with, it would have made just as much sense without them and wouldn't have been as unrealistic.
I also found the whole thing with Pippa & Max and Gabe & Max & the company to be very confusing and not that interesting. The plot twist at the end was pretty good but it just fell a little flat for me.
Thank you to Sally Hepworth and Martin’s Publishing Group for this advanced copy. This was a mystery that unraveled as you read each chapter. Amanda was with Gabe at the Drop. This spot located where Gabe and Pippa had their home. When Amanda falls off this spot, we learn the real events of what happened and why. This is told between part and present Pippa and Amanda to piece together the story of the connections in this case.
I enjoyed this read and would recommend.
This is a beautiful book and kept me up all day. My first time reading her books. A very fast reading. Thanks St Martin
This sucked me in and never let go. I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did. There were so many twists I didn’t see coming. I will be looking to read more from Sally Hepworth in the future!
This one was gripping until the end. The first part was slow going but I enjoyed the book and I loved the ending and the meaning behind the story.
i always love Sally's messages
This is one of those books that one can’t help but feel like a day we’ll spent reading. I really loved how it kept me on toes throughout my entire reading time and made me question everyone every now and then lol. Definitely a full 5 stars read.
Gabe and Pippa have a seemingly perfect life. They just moved in to their dream house by the sea, they have two adorable daughters, and their family is very involved. However, their house is located right beside a notorious cliff- a popular site where people take their own lives. Gabe has earned a reputation by convincing people not to jump, but one day when a woman approached the cliff, he doesn’t manage to stop her. He claims the woman was a stranger, but Pippa is convinced there’s more to the story. As the book goes on, we learn that Gabe and Pippa’s relationship might not be as perfect as it seems and that secrets are threatening to surface.
I thought this book was really interesting. At first, I was convinced that this family had everything, so I was genuinely shocked at every reveal. I really liked reading from Amanda’s perspective. She was so mysterious and her point of view was quite revealing. While this isn’t my favorite Sally Hepworth, (nothing can beat The Good Sister in my opinion) it was still very intriguing and sinister. I definitely recommend!
God, I love Sally Hepworth. I love her twisty family thrillers. And this one was twiiisted. I feel like I need to sit and think about it and then reread.
It was really good and a bit frustrating at times.
The characters were messy and infuriating and some are lovable.
Thanks to Netgalley and St Martins Press for an eARC
The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth was the thriller I needed to get out of my reading slump. I loved how every twist and turn brought you a new perspective, had you constantly changing your conspiracy theories on “what happened”
I loved the Dual POV and the mental health representations! I do thing the conclusion was a little rushed but the story built it up really well. All in All would recommend to those who enjoy Verity and The House Across the Lake.
Another gripping Hepworth novel!!!
This one had so many twists and turns. I'm so glad I had a friend to freak out with, because I truly don't think I could have made it out on my own. Wow.
Knocked a star off because that ending, while exciting, was very frustrating for me.
Overall I'd recommend it. I think this will be wildly popular. Bravo Sally!
Amazing. Amazing. Amazing! I’ve read several Sally Hepworth books and I can say that, for me, this author does not disappoint. This story and these characters are absolutely riveting. I was reading well into the night, this was a book I simply could not put down. I truly appreciate the amount of research that went into creating one of the main characters. The attention to detail and the care taken to get details just right is commendable. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves suspense.
There are so many reasons I enjoyed reading this book. The authors style of writing has always appealed to me with short chapters that are easy to start and stop, allowing you to sneak in a few minutes of reading without getting lost in the body of a chapter. Also, the use of POV in this story was meaningful.. I loved being in the head of the women in this story, understanding Amanda as well as Pippa better in the best way possible, from their view. I also enjoy the author taking the reader back to the “before” and then following it up with the “after”. The author was able to tie up loose ends throughout the story, without appearing rushed as often happens. The use of ancillary players was just right, not overdone and I really didn’t feel as though any parts were not really needed and could have been cut. Finally, Sally Hepworth does a fantastic job at portraying mental health and conditions associated with the story’s characters. I’m looking forward to more from this talented author!
Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read for review this wonderful book. All feedback provided is authentically mine.
