The Soulmate tells the story of a woman who jumped off of a cliff nicknamed “The Drop”. The Drop is a well known suicide destination, but that stops when perfect couple Gabe and Pippa move into the house in front of the cliff. Gabe is handsome and endearing, and he is able to talk multiple people out of taking their own lives. That is until Amanda shows up, and Pippa glances out the window and sees Gabe with outstretched arms where Amanda stood moments before.

This book was really good. It dealt with themes of mental health, death, family, and self-care. And it dealt with them in such a realistic and relatable way. The mental health struggles Gabe faced were portrayed accurately. I was very pleased when Pippa started to hold Gabe accountable for his own actions instead of letting him get away with blaming the mental illnesses. It also had a great storyline of how a close knit family watches out for each other. It is clear in the novel that Pippa’s family is extremely close, and she is more stable than Gabe who basically raised himself.

I was very pleased with the ending of the book. The plot twist was unexpected, and it made a lot of sense for the story. It made me so happy when Pippa reclaimed her power, and started living life for herself. I really loved the last sentence. It was perfect. 5 stars because this was so honest and real! Beautifully written. This was the first book I’ve read by Sally Hepworth, and I can’t wait to read more.

Unlike any other book I’ve read, I know this one will stay with me for some time to come.

I was given an ARC copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I am giving this one 3.5 stars and rounding up to 4 on Goodreads because benefit of the doubt. I normally tear through her books. I love them. This one took me a month and I have to own the fact that I have been working a lot and I have been very busy. I enjoyed the book but Pippa and Daniel didn't suck me in. I didn't feel as excited about knowing their story and finding out what was really going on with them. The plot twists were there but they were not very satisfying for me. Not like they usually are with her books. She is literally one of my go-to authors that I never worry about being disappointed with when it comes to her releases. And I wasn't disappointed. But this is the first book of hers I didn't love. And it was from the beginning that I felt like my interest wasn't being grabbed as usual. I can't be sure part of it wasn't me with how busy I have been. I liked it.

I was immediately pulled into this domestic thriller and found myself on one heck of a ride!  Great prose, great twists and turns, great ending!

Sally Hepworth had me on the edge of my seat as I read about Gabe and Pippa's marriage, their beautiful dream house on a cliff by the ocean, and their adorable two precocious daughters, all who get wrapped up in the mysterious death of Amanda who seems to have jumped off the cliff behind their home.  Did she jump?  Was she pushed??  Don't make your mind up too soon because you may just be wrong!

Loved this book, loved the writing, loved the roller coaster ride!  Definitely put this one on your wish list for April of 2023!

Fantastic novel that makes you want to keep reading. It's about Pippa and her husband Gabe, both past and present, a look at how they journey through life over the last few years and deal with what life throws their way. We get a glimpse at mental illness and how Pippa stands by her man
It's also about business owner Max and his wife Amanda and how their relationship intertwines with Pippa and Gabe's.
I like how this story is told from different perspectives and by two of the characters, one alive and one deceased and from both present and past. This sounds confusing, but it's not at all, very easy to follow. I love how the author brings the story together.

I will be looking for more books by Sally Hepworth

Okayyyy now! Sally Hepworth is one of my favorite authors and this one is no different. Keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing the entire time. I practically read this in one setting because I literally had to know what was happening next.

Full disclosure I do not give 5 stars easily.

The Soulmate catches your attention and reels you in. You want to play detective, fortune teller, and at times psychologist. I want to know what is going on in the mind of these characters and constantly try guessing the end. Normally I am dead on with endings and where a story is going to end up, but this book had me.

This book covers some heavy topics like marital issues, fidelity, crime, mental illness and suicide, but I think the way the author ties it all in made this a fantastic story. Sometimes with back and forth between characters books can seem a little cluttered and confusing, but you won’t find that here. The author did the transitions well and I was never confused. Intrigued? Absolutely! Unsure of what was GOING to happen? VERY.

I would definitely recommend this to a wide range of readers. If you enjoy trying to figure out why everything is happening and what will happen next this is definitely a book to read!

If I didn’t have a ton of things going on at home (thanks 3 children) I probably would have read this book in a few hours easy. I never wanted to put it down once I started, but alas life made it take longer. However, now I’m lamenting that it’s over.

I love how Sally Hepworth brings characters so vividly to life, and steadily peels back their layers throughout the progression of the novel. The setting also plays a pivotal role in this book, which I enjoyed. The twists and turns were paced well and kept the story flowing nicely.

I was engrossed in Pippa’s storyline, and Amanda’s observations sprinkled throughout added to the narrative. I couldn’t put this one down! Once again, I am reminded of how much I enjoy Sally Hepworth’s novels. If you’ve enjoyed her previous works, you will like this one as well!

Sally Hepworth is one of my favorite mystery/thriller writers and she has done it again! I couldn't put down this book. It was gripping, thrilling, and it really made me think about mental illnesses. 5 stars! I highly recommend.

Each Sally Hepworth book seems to he better than the last. The Soulmate is no exception. The Soulmate follows the story of the intertwined lives of couples Max and Amanda and Gabe and PIppa. As you'd expect from any Hepworth novel, there is love, lies, betrayal, and a lovely twist. You won't be dissapointed.

I was really looking forward to this book and it was even better than I was expecting. Each character was nuanced and the story sucks you in. Uncovering the relationship between all the characters was the best part of the book and I am so glad that Pippa left Gabe when it became clear how mentally unstable he was. It was a little slow to start, however, and some of the pacing throughout the book is a little bit off.

Sally Hepworth has done it again with a thriller full of twists and turns that kept me guessing the entire time. The Soulmate was part whodunit, part thriller and part relationship exploration. From the outside, it looks like Pippa and Gabe have it all- a beautiful house overlooking the ocean, 2 adorable daughters and a wonderful marriage. As the story unfolds, though, their life is anything but idyllic. Told from multiple POVs, this book was a domestic thriller that not only explored the impact mental health can take on a relationship but it also explored loyalty, fidelity and what the definition of soulmate can truly mean in a relationship.

This was a gripping page turner that kept me guessing from beginning to end.

I absolutely love Sally Hepworth and her new novel "The Soulmate" is just one reason why she's one of the best!

ARC releasing 4/4/23. Gabe and Pippa live next to a beautiful sea cliff which happens to be a popular suicide spot, but Gabe can always talk them down. Except one time, he goes out and it almost looks like he pushes her and Pippa is haunted by what she sees. This was a classic 'did I actually like it or did I like the short chapters?'. It was fairly twisty without being too easy to guess.

This book grabs you from the beginning. I loved the alternating story lines and the different perspectives. There are two sides to the story and you get to see both sides. I’m honestly unsure how I feel about this title. The story line was well paced and I definitely wanted to keep reading. However, I felt let down by the climax and conclusion. To me, it felt a little far fetched that Max would spend so much time threatening Gabe and his family if he wanted so badly to protect them. It was very romanticized that Max jumped off the cliff in the end. I wanted to like it. It just was lacking for me.

I finished The Soulmate in a day, work and plans were forgotten, and I went ahead and devoured this book. It was a fast-paced and exciting read.

It's about tragic love, secrets, and betrayals that center around two marriages, Pippa and Gabe, Amanda and Max. The POV's alternate between Pippa and Amanda, the events before and leading up to Amanda's death, and then after.

Pippa, Gabe, and their two daughters live in a cottage on a cliff known as the "The Drop". Gabe has saved many lives by convincing them not to jump from the cliff. Everything seems perfect until Gabe is unable to save a woman from jumping to her death. Gabe tells the authorities she was distraught over her husband's infidelity but Pippa is not convinced her husband is telling the truth.

I really enjoyed Amanda's pov, it was a first for me to read from a dead woman's point of view but it was refreshing and interesting.

So many unforeseen twists, especially the ending, so heartbreaking.

This story kept me on my toes and it affected me more than I had expected. In the beginning, I was rooting for Pippa and Gabe completely unaware of how dysfunctional their marriage truly was when I really should have been paying close attention to Amanda and Max.

I don't want to give too much away as it's better to go in blind as I did.
The adrenaline this book gave me, the pit in my stomach was real, my mouth was hanging open at some revelations.

This was my first read from Sally Hepworth but it will not be my last.
Highly recommend.

I do love anything by Sally Hepworth and this book was no exception! Pippa is hopelessly in love with her husband Gabe, and they have two daughters. There have been many ups and downs in the marriage amid struggles with Gabe’s mental health. Finally it seems that things have calmed down and they are happily living their lives in a new house in a new town. Unfortunately the new house is near a cliff that people use to end their lives and Gabe has become adept at talking them down. Until one night when a woman dies and it turns out that Gabe actually knew her. Did something else happen other than the accident Gabe claims. Pippa feels her world turning upside down as she fights to learn the truth of that awful night. And when she finds the truth, will she protect her husband?
Don’t miss this one!!

I found the mutli-viewpoint in this book so captivating. The imagery was vibrant, while retaining that air of mystery that shapes such a great thriller and question to be explored. I personally found the husband/wife relationship to be a red flag throughout, and distracting, but that is a personal trigger for me. Overall a well told story with so many twists!
