So gripping and jaw clinching. This thriller had me on the edge of my seat not wanting to put my phone down for anything. I may or may not have brought this with me to shower so I could keep reading. Hurray for water proof phones.

I loved this book! It had so many dynamic, well written characters and so many different things going on to keep you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed the different Point of views. The book shed light on mental illness and was really accurate on the effects it has on others and ups and downs that come with it. This book was so moving and one you will be thinking about long after you finish it.

Soon after Gabe And Pippa move to their new ocean property backing onto a huge cliff where people have been known to commit suicide, Gabe becomes known as the savior, preventing several folks from jumping. But, when a woman escapes his reach and jumps to her death, Gabe is suddenly looked upon as a possible suspect rather than a hero. Pippa unravels the truth behind the woman, the motives and everything in-between.
Told through the perspective of Pippa and the dead woman, in both past and present timelines, we learn who really has something to hide and why.

This book explores mental health and marriage in many different aspects: Why one marries, the different types of devotion, and what someone might do to protect their marriage. I found this book gripping, immensely interesting, and everytime I thought I'd figured it out, I was thrown another twist.

I loved this book! Five stars!

Sure they’re marriage isn’t perfect, but whose is?

When a woman completes suicide just outside of Gabe and Pippa’s house, it under covers world of secrets Pippa had no idea existed. Pippa and Gabe have been through a lot over the years, but when someone is your soulmate, just how much are you willing to forgive?

I love the mixed point-of-views we get to experience in this story. I also did not see the twist at the end coming from a mile away! I thought this book was a great change of pace from other thrillers that have been released lately, it was a great concept and it kept me guessing the whole way through.

I really enjoyed this book and I think I’ve found my new favorite by Sally Hepworth!

I have read a few books by Sally Hepworth and have enjoyed them. I was therefore looking forward to reading The Soul Mate and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
This is a great domestic drama, a psychological thriller and a romance thrown in there too.
This is written from the POV of two of the wives involved (one has died - that’s not a spoiler) and we go back and forth in time revealing their secrets and those of their families. This was a real page turner. I think I finished it in a couple of days. It was a thrilling ride and I highly recommend it.

My anticipation for Sally Hepworth's The Soulmate was fueled by my adoration of her previous work, The Secrets of Midwives. Yet again, she did not fall short of expectations. This novel is beautifully written and features a complex narrative.

Just outside of Melbourne, Gabe and Pippa Gerard have settled into their ideal home: a quaint hamlet perched on a cliff. They're starting again as a married couple, and they've found the ideal environment to raise their two young girls. The immaculate exterior of the house, however, conceals a more terrible reality: the proximity to The Spot, where the high cliffs have become a favourite spot for individuals seeking suicide. Once Gabe talks someone off a ledge, he becomes a hero in his community, saving their lives one after another... until one night when he doesn't.  Gabe is the last person Pippa sees before the cliff drops away, and she looks up to see him standing there with his arms spread and palms facing out.

Although Gabe has claimed that the suicide was an impulsive choice, Pippa cannot shake the feeling that there is more to the story. Then, anonymous emails with people's last thoughts before they died at The Spot begin to arrive in her inbox. What if Gabe was actually involved? Pippa gets closer and closer to the terrible revelation as she investigates the fate of her husband.

If you're looking for a spine-tingling thriller with plenty of twists and turns, The Soulmate is the perfect read. From the very first page, you'll be hooked.

The writing is beautiful and lyrical, and the characters are well-developed and intriguing. I loved the suspenseful plot and the way that the story unfolded. This is a book that's hard to put down, and I raced through it in just a few hours.

As a whole, readers who enjoy domestic suspense novels will enjoy The Soulmate. It is a page-turner that will keep you guessing until the last page.

Is there such a thing as a soulmate? What does being a soulmate mean? This domestic thriller explores the nature of marriage and love while a mystery unfolds regarding the characters and their motivations. Gabe and Pippa are a young couple with two small daughters. They live in a cliff top house on the coast of Australia. They love their home except for the sharp drop off on the cliff; a drop off where several people have gone to try to commit suicide. Gabe has been able to talk each person down until the evening when he doesn't. One night a woman stands on the cliff and this time she jumps. Pippa and Gabe are shocked but Pippa is also wondering why it seemed like her husband had his hands out and maybe pushed the woman.

The novel goes between two viewpoints: Pippa past and present as we find out how she met Gabe and the trials and tribulations of their marriage and before and after Amanda, the woman on the cliff. Amanda speaks to us from the grave as we find out how she met her husband Max, helped him in his rise to success and how and why she ended up on that cliff. The book had some beautiful things to say about the nature of love and marriage and explored the idea of how much can a marriage survive. I really enjoyed all of the characters and was surprised at some of the twists and I have to admit to having a tear in my eyes at the end. The book explores issues on suicide, mental illness, infidelity, financial crimes and murder. Highly recommend this one! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free ARC of this book in exchange for review.

I found The Soulmate to be a fast paced domestic thriller that makes you want to continuing reading right from the beginning. Many twists and an ending that will leave you shocked.

The book is told in two POVs alternating between Pippa and the deceased Amanda. It surrounds the ups and downs of marriage, the secrets kept and broken trust.

This is my second book I’ve read from Sally Hepworth and I loved them both. I can’t wait to read more! Definitely pick this one up if you’re a fan of domestic thrillers!

4.5/5

Thank you so much to St. Martins Press and NetGalley for this digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Sally Hepworth is a favorite author of mine and she did it again with this book!! This is a combination love story and thriller. The characters- Gabe, Pippa and Max are so well written that I pictured actors who would be perfect for the movie version.
Pippa and Gabe live in a house on a cliff. This cliff is a well known spot for people to end their lives. Over time, Gabe has had the gift of being able to talk people out of this choice. But not this time! Why? This is where the twists and turns begin! This was a fast read for me, I just couldn’t put it down.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Excellent book. So many twists and turns, that it keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. I was truly sad that the book ended. The story centers around a couple and their 2 young children, that live on land that has a cliff that overlooks the ocean. This cliff has been made famous by the number of visitors that come to commit suicide but are talked down by the husband. That is until one visitor goes over the cliff committing suicide. The wife witness this interaction from a distance and questions her husband’s story of what happened. As the story continues, more secrets are revealed which brings more questions to the surface since there happens to be a connection with the jumper and the man trying to save her. The story touches on so many touchy subjects such as mental illness, suicide, infidelity and many more. Definitely an excellent read.

Did He Or Didn’t He?

This is the first Sally Hepworth book I have read and it was a doozy! Gabe and Pippa buy their dream home with an ocean view and soon discover that the cliff across the road from their house has become a known spot for people to jump to their death. Gabe has taken it upon himself to talk to them and convince them not to do it. When Pippa tells him someone is out there he goes out to talk, but this time it turns out differently. Pippa looks out the window and the woman is gone and Gabe is standing there with his arms outstretched with his palms facing empty air. What happened? Did Gabe push her? No, that’s not possible, there must be some other explanation.

The Soulmate is a wonderfully written suspense novel that may keep you up all night. The two women, Pippa and Amanda, wife and victim, tell their stories in short chapters that alternate between before, after, and present to create a wonderfully complete picture of the events leading up to and after the event. The ending is a surprise that I never anticipated, wrapping up this well-crafted story. This is a must read for anyone who loves a good mystery.

I gasped while reading the ending…you will never see it coming. Hooked from chapter one, there were so many twists and turns I could hardly put it down. The story starts immediately with you wondering….was it an accident?

Amanda’s point of view was particularly interesting due to the time frame it was written in.

This is easily my me of the best books I’ve read in a while. Without giving anything away, the unconventional POVs were clever and held my attention from beginning to end. Full of unexpected twists and turns, this book kept me guessing until the very last page.

Well, Sally Hepworth has done it again. The Soulmate was a draw from the first page to the last page. Pippa and Gabe's story is beautiful, dark and complicated. Ms. Helpwoth will take you on a trip that intertwines with so many peoples lives. Amazing writing and story!

Wow, Sally Hepworth did it again! Another great book full of plots twists. Not all is as it seems behind closed doors. The story is told with alternating characters and through past versus present. This fast paced novel is a twisted tale of secrets, betrayals and intertwined lives. So many jaw dropping events that made me second guess where the story was headed. Highly recommended.

Gabe, Pippa, and their two little girls live in a beautiful cottage that sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The cliff is a popular suicide spot in town. Gabe is a charismatic investor turned stay-at-home dad with a special knack for talking people off of the edge and convincing them that they have a reason to live - until Amanda.

The plot of this story was super intriguing and I was excited to dive in. The chapters were short which made me want to keep reading “just one more.” It was certainly a twisty and entertaining domestic thriller with several secrets revealed, which kept me engaged with the story.

It is told from dual POV and in altering timelines (then/now), which I usually love, but one of the points of view is that of the victim. I, personally, had a hard time reading from the point of view of a dead woman who is watching things unfold from the afterlife. I felt that it took me out of the story at times.

The four main characters were all flawed, toxic, and unlikable. I also didn’t love the mental health aspect of this book. It felt like a lot of terrible actions of one of the main characters were blamed solely on a diagnosis and it could potentially feed into stereotypes.

Overall, it was quick and entertaining even if it wasn’t a total win for me. This was my first book by this author and I am looking forward to reading some of her backlist - the writing was great and the main plot twist took me by surprise!

I am very new to the NetGalley family and have really enjoyed reading all the ARC’s! Thank you so much to Sally Hepworth for allowing me to read this book. Gabe and Pippa, Max and Amanda, I felt such a connection to the characters in this book. The twists and turns were extremely well written. I am usually able to figure things out and a couple got me. I would absolutely recommend this for anyone to read.

Before I start this review, I'd like to give a huge thank you to St. Martin's Publishing Group, NetGalley, and most importantly, Sally Hepworth for my ARC of The Soulmate. Seriously, this is such a cool experience, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to do this.

The Soulmate is a gut-wrenching book centered around soulmates and what you would do for yours. Pippa and Gabe are soulmates, with their own happy family, but not everything is as perfect as it seems. No matter how hard Pippa wants it to be. The family lives in a house right by a cliff known for suicides. Gabe always talks people away from cliffs, but one night he didn't. Though it should be ruled off as a suicide, things get tricky when it's revealed that Gabe knew the victim. Does Pippa trust the love of her life? Or is there more than what meets the eye?

Before you start this book, you must know that there are multiple potential triggers such as: mental illness, suicide, and infidelity. Often times I find myself off put by books like these because I find them to be too "over the top" and exaggerating everything to the point where it is pretty much the most unrealistic thing I have ever read. Of course, you have to keep in mind that this is a fiction book, but even with the heavy topics, Hepworth writes them in a way that is almost tasteful. I never felt that she was "doing too much", and she touched on these sensitive topics that mirrored people's reality.

While it would be my absolute pleasure to give The Soulmate five stars, I ultimately cannot. Though I find myself unable to put this book down, there were some parts of it that just seemed tedious to read. It was as if I was just reading for the sake of getting through it, rather than actually reading and enjoying the book. That being said, the parts that I did enjoy, it had my complete and utter attention. This book is fully of past and present time jumps that flips back and forth so often you're afraid you might get whiplash. However, Hepworth is such an excellent writer that I never got too confused, and it wasn't annoying. I actually quite liked the back and forth, giving the story an extra "oomf" and perspective into the events unfolding before you.

If you needed a sign to pre order this book, then here it is. Get it. I found this book to be refreshing and unlike any "dark family secret" book that I've read before. If you want to be genuinely entertained and have a jaw-dropping plot twist experience, then this is a book for you. Sally Hepworth, congrats on gaining another fan. This was truly a great reading experience.
