Loved The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth! The idea that there is a soulmate somewhere out there makes for a nice, romantic notion. But in reality, are Gabe and Pippa soulmates or have they constructed that myth unknown even to themselves? Several surprises kept the action moving along at a brisk pace…a great lazy Sunday afternoon read!

Wow! So many thoughts after finishing this book. This is my first book by this author, and it definitely did not disappoint.

What I loved about this book:
Quick chapters with more than 1 plot twist. I found myself looking forward to reading this book every free second I had. I felt like I HAD to know what happened at the end.

What I didn’t love:
The ending. I thought there was a couple ends that needed to be tied up. Without giving away any spoilers, I hated the ending, in fact. That’s why I gave it 4 stars instead of a 5.
I did enjoy the twist at the end, but the last chapter was just crumby to me.

If you’re looking for a quick read that will keep you on your toes, pick this book up. I’m happy I read it.

What an interesting story. I read this book in one day because I didn't want to miss one word...which I wouldn't but I'm sure you get that feeling too when a book is 'that good.' I honestly did not see what was coming and the ending made perfect sense. The ups and downs in the marriage of Gabe and Pippa are told with so much heart. Soulmate is a wonderful word...and so many definitions. Read this book. You won't be sorry.

Thank you to #NetGalley for letting me read an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. This, like all of Sally Hepworth’s psychological thrillers, kept me rapt the whole way through. After unwittingly buying property on a cliff called the Drop, where many locals come to end their lives, protagonist Pippa and her husband Gabe have grown accustomed to talking them down…until the night Gabe can’t. Or did he want to? Pippa begins to question what she saw that night, particularly when she finds out that her family has a connection to this woman. Told alternating between the voices of Pippa and Amanda, the girl who died, this thriller kept me guessing and hungrily reading on to unbury the secrets and connections from before and after the night of Amanda’s death. I really enjoyed unravelling the characters’ pasts, and this would be the perfect vacation read for anyone else who also adores a windy psychological thriller.

Thank you NetGalley and St Martins Press for the advanced read copy of this incredible book!

I was hooked from the first page.

Pippa and Gabe have a seemingly normal marriage, with two young daughters in tow. They just happen to live in a house overlooking a cliff that is a popular spot for jumpers. Gabe was praised in a newspaper article for talking jumpers off the ledge. Quite literally!

This book takes place in two different timelines from two different perspectives - Pippa, and one of the jumpers, Amanda. How the story intertwines is not only binge worthy, but the twists and turns this book took caught me by surprise, in the best possible way!

The story unraveled, showing the characters true colors - some good, some not, and and if it’s possible to be shocked, appalled, yet presently surprised, I was!

I was unable to put this book down, absolutely enthralled in what was about to happen next,

Full five stars!

Another great book by Sally Hepworth! Her latest novel tells the story of a seemingly-idyllic young Australian family who has recently moved to a lovely cliffside cottage. We quickly find out that the location is a popular location for those wishing to end their lives, and a death by suicide sets off a chain of events that unravels the fabric holding the family together.

The Soulmate, like so many other domestic suspense novels, uses flashbacks to tell the story, but the author uses this technique effectively to dole out just enough information to ensure that you absolutely must keep reading to find out what happens next! She really keeps you guessing about the secrets everyone is hiding. And. she does a wonderful job of creating interesting, believable, flawed characters that are still likable. The ending did not disappoint, with plenty of plot twists along the way.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!

Sally Hepworth is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. I’ve loved every book of hers I’ve read so far and this one was no exception. Fast paced, plenty of twists, but also a story about love and the ins and outs of marriage and families. Too much will give this book away but I highly recommend if you’re a fan of any of her other books or this is a great one to start with if you’ve never read any of her others. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

A house on a cliff, with a nice normal family inside. Occasionally the husband heads out to the dropoff, if a passerby looks a little too much like they're going to jump. He always talks them down...until the day he doesn't, and a woman jumps. Or did she?

That's the springboard for Sally Hepworth's tense domestic drama, as lawyer/mom Pippa wonders why her husband Gabe seems elusive about the woman who died, as the dead woman hovers in the ether commenting on the events after her demise and what led her to that cliff-top, and as the layers on all-around-good-guy Gabe are slowly peeled back. I read in one sitting on a long plane flight, and enjoyed every minute.

This twisty book had just enough intrigue to keep me turning pages. Great suspense and characters. Sally Hepworth is always a must-read for me!

I'm a huge fan of Sally Hepworth so was delighted to receive this one! And I loved every minute of it! Told in "before" and "after" moments, we witness two couples: Max and Amanda as well as Gabe and Pippa. It begins with a potential suicide off the cliff of Gabe and Pippa's beach house and things only get dicier from there! The plot is complicated and yet so satisfying that I raced through it to determine how and why these couples are so interconnected. Hepworth speaks to themes of fidelity, mental illness, revenge, trust, and love. I will read anything she writes...so incredible!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

If you like Sally Hepworth, you'll enjoy this book. It's a twisty domestic thriller with morally grey characters.

I wasn't entirely thrilled with the depiction of mental illness throughout. Partly through a specific lens that looks to salvage a person on the other side of it. But on the other hand the slow build to certain things was well done and important to the overall narrative.

I was absolutely hooked by 9% and that momentum held the entire way. I loved this book!!! Pippa and Gave live a happy life with their two daughters in a beautiful home. They live off a gorgeous cliff known as “The Drop” a popular suicide spot for locals. Gabe has heroically saved multiple people from jumping, it’s what he is known for in the community. Until one day, a woman jumps and Gabe cannot save her. What seems like a simple accident becomes way more complicated when it’s revealed that Gabe knew the woman who jumped to her death. This book was full of twists and turns that u did not see coming. It kept me on my toes. I absolutely loved it. The character development and relationships were so complex and interesting. I would recommend this book to everyone! One of Sally Hepworth’s best, in my opinion!

There are very few books that make me audibly gasp when I come across a plot twist. There are very few books that make me root for characters and become fully invested. This book is now one of them and also being added to my 5 star shelf! Sally Hepworth’s writing style is so good! I could not put this down! Thank you @netgalley for the arc.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. I’ve read several other books by this author and was anxious to read this one as well. It was another solid thriller filled with the potential of unreliable narrators. There was a good twist that provided a payoff at the end of this quick read. I’ll read more by this author in the future!

This book kept me engaged but I felt like it wasn't quite as captivating as it could be? The first half of the book is mostly filling in the blanks of the characters backstory before the suicide or homicide event happens. After about the first half things start moving forward a bit and it's pretty hard to put down after that! Overall it's a solid 4/5 and definitely worth picking up.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an eARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Great book! It’s such a fun read and the characters are great to get to know. It reads easy and I was hooked from early on. I did not guess the twists in this book- my every guess was wrong! Totally recommend this book and now I see what the hype was about!

Thank you Net Galley for this ARC for my honest review.

This is my first book by this author. It was different from what I am used to reading, but I will read more of her books. It was intriguing and interesting. I love the different characters POV. The way it came to an end really surprised me.

First off, thank you for the ARC. I give this book a 3.5 rating out of 5. There was not a whole lot of ohhhh ahhh factor going on for me. A majority of the first half of this book was very bland and just giving character explanation. I figured most of the plot out early on. I did like how the author alternated because past and present and we got to see the dead womans perspective on things. Towards the end, the plot peaked anf was pretty interesting. The premise to this story was pretty interesting and was a good read.
