This is the first book I’ve read by Sally Hepworth and it won’t be the last! Excuse me while I go buy all of her other books. The book was a little slow moving for me but it also held my attention the whole time. Pippa and her husband Gabe have two children and appear to have the perfect life, the perfect marriage. But things aren’t always as they seem. What secrets are they hiding from each other? And what will be destroyed by them?

The Soulmate is another fabulous read by Sally Hepworth who consistently and undisputably knocks it out of the park. I was fully absorbed in the lives of these characters from the very first page.

Gabe and Pippa Gerard live in a beautiful clifftop home with their two precious daughters. Time and again, Gabe has taken heroic measures to lure potential jumpers off the edge of the cliff, saving many lives. But on one particular night, the woman with whom he is speaking suddenly plunges over the side. As Pippa watches the shocking scene from the kitchen window, she is unsettled by one specific detail. Why does it appear that Gabe has just pushed the woman to her death?

Full of secrets and shocking twists, the narrative comes to life via the perspectives of two key players, and unfolds with a pacey tension. You will not want to miss this latest offering from the wonderful Sally Hepworth.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC.

A thrilling tale of how a family has moved to a cliff-side cottage and realizes that it is a popular jump spot for suicides. The husband has saved about eight people and even has a news article about his heroic efforts. But one day, when his wife sees someone standing by the cliffs and sends him out to do his magic, he fails. What she then sees makes her question who her husband really is.

Well, from where should I start? This was a fabulous read for me. Sally Hepworth has done it again. She's proved that she knows what the audience want from her.
Pippa and Gabe Gerard move into their dream home with their two young daughters. Their home is located on a Cliff side in a coastal town outside Melbourne. The Cliff is famous for suicides. As people appear by the Cliff, Gabe has a gift being able to talk people out of their plan, until one day he cannot save a women. Pippa sees Gabe talking to the women and witnesses his reaction after the fall. Was this an accident or was she pushed?
Her death is ruled a suicide, but it turns out Gave knew the lady. The lady was upset that her husband had cheated. He does not disclose this to the police or Pippa. The husband is also someone Gabe used to work for. This web of deceit runs rampant in their lives and the twists in this novel were fun to try to unravel. Will Pippa, the husband and the police find out the truth of what really happened?
Although I personally think that this character ( Pippa) irritated me a little bit because she's forgiving everything so easily. If I were in place of her then I would have done it differently.
Overall it's a must read and highly recommended from my side.
Thanks to Netgalley and St Martin's Press for giving me an advance copy.

Will Pippa, the husband and the police find out the truth of what really happened? Each of these main characters is trying to unravel the truth, but at what lengths will Pippa go to, to prove Gabe’s innocence or betrayal? Hepworth novels are always a MUST read!

Sally Hepworth is a must-read author for me and The Soulmate does not disappoint! The book and its twists were better than I expected. Hepworth weaves the story through multiple viewpoints and in past and present tense, culminating in an unexpected and powerful conclusion. Highly recommended for anyone who loves suspense and mysteries. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

This was a really great thriller and my first by Sally Hepworth!

Pippa and her husband Gabe have been through some ups and downs in their relationship. They decided to have a fresh start and move out of the city to be closer to the ocean. They decide to buy a house on a cliff, which happens to be a popular suicide spot. Gabe has managed to talk down seven people, and when a woman appears on the cliff during their dinner one night, no one thinks this night will be any different. This woman, however, jumps... or did she?

The novel was narrated from two different perspectives (Pippa and Amanda, the woman who died) in both the present and past. Both narratives were compelling, and the novel had short, punchy chapters, which is a must for me in a thriller. I was hooked on this. I read it in a couple of hours; couldn't tear my eyes away. I think the author also took an interesting look at love and relationships, and what loyalty, love, and trust really mean. This book took on a lot of different trigger subjects, and that usually drives me crazy, but the author tied them all together well.

The only reason this isn't a full five stars is because Pippa bothered me. I hated how she overlooked and forgave everything, and acted like her marriage was so perfect and enviable. I liked how the author showed us over time that this isn't the case. I was also disappointed with the end. Amanda's last chapter was pretty moving, beautiful, and sad, but I wanted to see more repercussions for those who had done wrong. Instead there was another undeserved chance given. Wasn't that the problem for this character the whole book? That people constantly enabled and cushioned the fall? In the end, which woman really married her soulmate?

4.5 stars.

“one thing I’ve learned about happy endings is that they don’t always look the way you would expect.”

Synopsis: There’s a cottage on a cliff. Gabe and Pippa’s dream home in a sleepy coastal town. But their perfect house hides something sinister. The tall cliffs have become a popular spot for people to end their lives. Night after night Gabe comes to their rescue, literally talking them off the ledge. Until he doesn’t. When Pippa discovers Gabe knew the victim, the questions spiral... Did the victim jump? Was she pushed? And would Gabe, the love of Pippa’s life, her soulmate . . . lie? As the perfect facade of their marriage begins to crack, the deepest and darkest secrets begin to unravel.

Personal review: 4 stars

Easily the most bingeable book I have read in a while, but aren’t most Sally Hepworth books like that? This one takes place on a cliff in Australia, a quaint home, and not-so quaint family. Hepworth is the queen of domestic thrillers and dropping the plot twist on you at just the right moment! I spent 25 percent of the book loving Pippa and Gabe and the other 75 percent shaking my head at their toxic relationship. This took place between multiple points of view over the course of only a few days, but was non linear and spent half the novel in the past describing how Amanda got to that cliff and what lead to her untimely demise. I loved connecting all the dots and making predictions about what was going on the whole way, as I always do with Sally books! This will be the perfect spring break domestic thriller.

I love a book with great characters, lots of plot twists and the classic question about whether we can truly trust/ ever really know someone. Sally Hepworth paints the idyllic family while slowly unraveling layers of secrets and turmoil which keeps the reader turning the pages! Oh and that setting….. the beautiful cliff side home which harbors many secrets/ tales of anguish of its own! Loved this one! Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to preview this book in exchange for an honest review! I will be recommending this read to my friends!

The Soulmate was so good! It had me absorbed in the story and I felt like I was there. It was full of suspense and Pippa was easy to relate to as I am a pushover. I love Sally Helpworth’s work and will continue to support her. If you like gripping, suspensful reads that deal with marriage and values I can’t think of anything better than The Soulmate. This was very well written.

Thanks to Hepworth and St. Martin's Press for an advanced e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I teetered between a 3 and 4 star for [book:The Soulmate|60784540]. I ultimately chose 4 stars as between this and Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney, it was The Soulmate that I wanted to finish first.

I hate giving a synopsis of a book when I feel the publisher's synopsis does it justice. Ultimately, this book is about the complexities of marriage- what we sacrifice, what we gain, and what we're willing to do in the name of it. The difficulties of being in a relationship with someone dealing with mental illness is also a core theme and one that highly resonated with me. While there was nothing that overly surprised me or took me off guard, I was still eager to finish The Soulmate which is all I'm really looking for in a thriller.

I enjoyed reading “The Younger Wife” by Sally Hepworth. I enjoy her writing style and was excited to start this book. The characters quickly drew me in making it difficult to put this book down! I enjoy how the story unfolds through multiple perspectives and timelines. There are many unexpected twists that kept me craving more. Each character seems to have bits and pieces of the puzzle that brilliantly come together in the end to reveal the whole picture.

My first book by Sally Hepworth, I will definitely go search for others. I could not put it down.

Twists are mostly surprising and unforeseen! The story unfolds from before and current told by two women.

This book is about what women can do when they hopelessly and a little madly in love! It’s great approach to the anatomy of dysfunctional relationships, real pain and deep suffering to deal with mental illnesses!

Sally Hepworth delivers another thriller in The Soulmate, and I could not put this one down! Gabe and Pippa Girard have just moved to a new house on a rocky cliff overlooking the ocean, in a small town outside of Melbourne. Pippa is an attorney, and Gabe is a stay-at-home dad for their four year old "Irish twins". The cliff behind their home is also known as "The Spot" as it is the spot made famous for the number of suicides. Gabe seems to be a "cliff whisperer" saving many from taking that final step until one day, he does not succeed. A young lady does not end up walking back up the path with him. But was their foul play on the part of Gabe? Enter a media mogul named Max, who has been tied to some questionable business dealings. He is not only Gabe's former boss but is also the former boss of Mia, Pippa's sister-in-law. Page by page, more twists unfold and more connections are revealed. I kept guessing until the very end.

I highly recommend this book!

Wow!!!

I am left utterly speechless . Let me just start off by saying I have always been a huge fan of Sally Hepworth and I pine over every book published. I remember the agonizing feeling of waiting for the publication date to finally arrive to get my hands on one of my most sought after books. To be able and read and review a Hepworth book is one of the highest honors I feel as though I have ever held.

As most of us have an endless amount of books on our “tbr” (to be read) list, I knew there was absolutely no way I could wait to read this and it had to be read ASAP. I apologize to the book I dropped when I picked this one up but you know… necessities. I needed this book like I needed air to breathe.

I have not one regret.

The Soulmate is hands down my favorite book I have read this year . I hung on Hepworth’s every word. The sentences glittered across the page like the feeling you get on Christmas morning . I could not get enough . I struggled with myself to prolong my love for the book and go slower but I knew I had zero control. I had to know what was going to happen!

The Soulmate is told from dual point of view’s going back and forth between Pippa and the dead, Amanda.

Secrets spilled with every chapter, the twists kept coming before I could even catch my breath. The ending packed a punch I could have never seen coming and I’m left sitting here with the biggest book hangover .

How can any book that follows this one ever compare?

I really hope I will survive this major internal crisis I am currently suffering . What did I just read?

If I can suggest one book to everyone for the rest of this year it will be The Soulmate.

I just want to say thank you Sally Hepworth, netgalley and St Martins Press for making this girls dream come true . I didn’t have to wait until publication day but I already have my copies ordered for friends and family ! Thank you thank you thank you!

5 stars, duh

It's been a minute since I had a thriller that kept me up reading way past my bedtime. I should've known it would be Sally Hepworth who would get me back to those late night hours. Gabe and Pippa have a beautiful coastal home, but the location has a critical flaw. The cliff near there home is a place where people are known to die by suicide. Gabe has taken on a role where he talks people off the ledge literally. Then, one night, Pippa sees Gabe talking to a woman on the cliff, and that woman ends up dying. And then, all the truth bombs start coming - The biggest being that Gabe knew the woman from the night. The thrills and twists then go in figuring out what really happened that night and all the things that happened before (and after) to those involved. I loved that the story was pieced together from multiple perspectives, and it kept me guessing and turning pages until the end. Thanks to NetGalley for early look at this April 2023 thrill ride!
