Oh my, what a story! It hooked me from the first page. I loved the alternating points of view (which were also in different time periods). It felt like each chapter gave you a piece or two of the puzzle, and I had fun making guesses throughout of what *really* happened and how the characters were connected. Turns out all my guesses were wrong, ha!

I finished this book in a day. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading! The story is full of mystery, and each time I thought I was close to figuring something out, new information would completely surprise me! The character development was deep and left me feeling a closeness with each character. This book will end up on all the book club lists!

I am a huge Sally Hepworth fan so I can't explain the level of excitement I experienced when I saw her new release available. Squeals, some neighbors complained, cops were called, etc. Unfortunately, I just did not vibe with this book.

Pros:
Sally Hepworth has a distinct writing style and this book didn't stray from that.
There was a twist that I never saw coming.
Unique POV (I won't say more because I don't want to spoil the story)

Cons:
There are way too many storylines.
The characters were very hard to connect to.
The ending was underwhelming.
Huh? I still have more questions than answers. Nothing was wrapped up which is not something I need but this book was just too much.

I definitely look forward to more by this author but this isn't one I would recommend if someone asked.

We meet Gabe and Pippa, a young couple with two little daughters. Looking for a fresh start, they bought the house of their dreams on a cliffside in a small town close to Melbourne. They have been living there for over a year. The house overlooks a spot known as “The Drop” because it is a place where people come to end their lives. Gabe has managed to talk seven people out of jumping to their death, but one fateful night he could not prevent a woman from jumping off the cliff. As Pippa intermittently watches Gabe’s interaction with the woman from their home, she senses something is off. The girls momentarily distract her, and when she looks out again, the woman has disappeared, and her husband’s arms are outstretched, as if he had pushed her. Did she jump or did he push her? Does she believe his story? What is he not saying?

Told from dual timelines and from two different POVs, The Soulmate is a compelling, addictive, and immersive domestic thriller that does not disappoint. I enjoyed the female perspectives and their insights on their marital relationships. Most of all, I was thrilled that I could not predict the surprising ending. I absolutely loved this book and now I am interested in picking up other novels by the same author.

If you are looking for a fast-paced thriller with plenty of twists, this book is for you. Highly recommended

Sally Hempworth has done it again! I first read The Good Sister and The Mother-in-Law. Those were both 5 star reads for me, and I figured this one would be as well.

She is by far my favorite mystery author. I love the way her characters secrets slowly come out, making each chapter exciting. I am never able to predict what is going to happen in her books, and I love that!

They are also great for people that want to read a mystery but not one that will keep them up at night.

This was a solid read with a few twists. I mostly liked the ending. I wasn't sure if I liked Amanda's POV but as it went along I appreciated having her voice to fill in the gaps.

What a lovely little mystery this story was. This was my first Sally Hepworth book but I will definetly be checking out her back catalogue after this.

This mystery takes place between the perspectives of two woman. Alternating between before and after one of the woman dies. I loved that each chapter scraped a little more information out about what truly had happened / was happening. I found myself excited with each new little piece of information and twist.

This was an easy read and was sad to see it end.

Sally Hepworth really hit it out ot the park with thos one. I read it in 2 sittings (kids and husband get in the way of my reading) . The story is told by the two wives involved un a before and after incident. Amanda is dead, but in between the after life and watching what is going on. Gabe and Pippa are married. Gabe works for a huge media mogul named Max (Amanda's husband) Amanda shows up one night to Gabe and Pippa Cliffside home and falls to her death. Gabe was outside with her talking before this happens. The police want to know the truth if she jumped or was pushed. Pippa has her doubts as well, as soon as she learns that Amanda is the wife of Gabe's former boss. Who Pippa coincidentally almost slept with. There are secrets that slowly come to light at the end of this book. The truth comes out about Gabes illegal activities and why Max hired him in the first place to qork for him. This is a strong 5 star read, you will not be disappointed.

Plot twist after plot twist, along with multiple POVs and flashbacks made this one a super enjoyable read that I devoured in a day and a half. It's the perfect blend of psychological thriller and family drama -- Sally Hepworth does it again.

OMG!! I was SO excited to get this ARC from one of my favorite authors that I immediately dropped everything and began reading! I have read all of her books and did not think anything could top The Good Sister. The Soulmate did just that! Gabe and Pippa move to a clifftop house. They quickly learn that their particular cliff is popular for suicides. Gabe becomes good at talking people off the ledge, until he doesn't. He had ties to this person. Was it an accident? Or DUN DUN DUN.......MURDER??? What follows is a super-fast-paced story that NEVER lets up! The story is told in extremely quick, easy to read chapters. The characters shouldn't be likeable, but they are, and there are several points of view. One character in particular, was very interesting. Shades of The Lovely Bones. I loved this one and can't say enough good things! Can't wait for the next one!

The Soulmate is a story about a family of four who live in a cliffside house which also happens to be a popular site for suicidal people. The husband has managed to talk down several people from taking their lives, until one day when a woman falls to her death.

From the moment of her death, the story is told through two POV's, the wife and the dead woman. The timeline alternates from past to present for both of them, and what is revealed is never confusing, just huge with twists and turns and surprises from start to finish. This novel was such a page turner, I'm giving it a pure 5* and not a 4.5* like I usually do, due to it's lack of glaring holes and the unpredictability of the reveals. Well done!

Really enjoyed this domestic thriller! Lots of twists and loved the dual timeline of the two POV’s. I was invested from the beginning and trying to figure out what was going to happen. I couldn’t put this down as I needed to see how it ended!

Oh, wow. SALLY HEPWORTH! You’ve done it again.

Where do I even begin? I dropped everything to crack this one open- which was completely worth it. Sally’s books are always packed full of so many different layers. You get drama. Laughs. Suspense. All sorts of different emotions will rise up. Plus closure- everything always makes perfect sense in the end. The i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed. The Soulmate is no different than her others, another knock out of the park. You’ll feel for these characters- it’s one big, twisted, web that will have you teetering over the edge. And believe me, you won’t be the only one going over the edge. (WHEW!) What would you do for your Soulmate? How far would you go? When is enough, enough? When it came down to it, would you choose your Soulmate… or yourself? What if they weren’t actually your Soulmate at all? This book gives you a look into the trials of marriage, deceit, trust, loyalty, mental illness and murder… Gabe and Pippa. Max and Amanda. Two couples with stories, secrets, and connections that you’ll never guess. it’s 10 minutes until midnight and I’m sitting here writing a review. Yes, you’ll end up choosing to read rather than sleep. And you won’t regret it.

This was a decent suspense novel about a suicide that may not have been a suicide after all. I was super into this for a while, but it went a different way than I was hoping and turned into a different type of mystery. More of a personal preference thing, as the writing was good and the characters were compelling. I just find this particular type of mystery/twist kind of boring.

Such a well written domestic thriller! This story tactfully explores mental health issues and the impact they can have on a marriage and family.

Hepworth’s characters are so realistic - their desires, their struggles, their relationships. The pacing in this book was perfect with the short chapters, alternating POVs, and the jumping timeline. I was completely engaged in the story from start to finish. Highly recommend!

This book was thoroughly enjoyable! It’s my 4th book by this author and I love how her stories unfold. We meet Pippi and Gabe, a married couple with 2 young daughters who live near a cliff. We meet another married couple, Max and Amanda. They share some secrets.

Amanda is seen at The Spot, the place by the cliff where people jump to their deaths. She’s there with Gabe. Gave has a history of literally talking people off the edge but he can’t save Amanda. Pippa sees it all happen and senses there’s more to the story than “she jumped.”

Told from alternating points of view and both past and present, the truth unfolds slowly and perfectly.

It instantly grabbed me and I read it in 2 days. Highly recommend!

Themes include marriage, secrets, lies, and mental illness.

I’m sort of sorry to tell you how much I enjoyed Sally Hepworth’s new book because it doesn’t officially release until April 4, 2023. Definitely add it to your book lists though!

“The Soulmate” is about marriage and secrets and the twisty reality in which two couples find themselves.

Sally Hepworth can write a dang domestic drama my friends. The Soulmate was so good. Plot twists around every corner. Some leaving my mouth wide open.

I liked the dual POV and narration from past and present to build the story.

I knocked it down to 4 stars because the last real twist didn’t do it for me. I still loved the book though.
