Excuse me while I go read all of Sally Hepworth's backlist. The Soulmate is only the second book I've read by here, but I am HOOKED by her writing. Her plots will truly keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering what is going to happen next.

The Soulmate is about husband and wife, Gabe and Pippa, who recently moved to a cottage on an infamous cliff known as "The Drop." Gabe is known for saving several of the people who have visited there looking to end their lives, but on this particular night, he doesn't. From there, chaos and mystery ensue.

I honestly couldn't put this book down. I needed to know what was going to happen. It was intense and wild, and definitely not to be missed.

Thank you St. Martins Press and NetGalley for the eARC!

The soulmate was a quick read. I had heard amazing things about the novel and had probably unrealistically high expectations. Because of that I was a little disappointed in ending. It was an easy and enjoyable read but not a novel that will stick with me!

Hello new favourite Sally Hepworth! This book was an absolute delight and reminded me why I love these mystery-domestic thriller type books and why I fell in love with Sally Hepworth. This book was fast paced and kept me guessing, even when I was sure I was going to figure out how it was all going to play out. The characters were all awful in their own ways but it really worked in this book.

I was super confused with the title for most of the book, but I loved how it all came together for the reveal later on. I really liked how everyone had secrets that both intertwined and had nothing to do with each other, so it really kept you guessing and surprised when things were unveiled. There was a lot of mental health/mental illness discussions that I thought were handled very well and quite informative too!

I didn’t love this one as much as I was hoping to. It was twisty and interesting, but I didn’t click with it like the good sister or the mother in law. I liked most of the characters and the setting. A first I wasn’t sure about amanda’s pov but it worked. I thought the ending was a wee bit anticlimactic. Anyway. I didn’t hate it at all, I will continue to read Sally Hepworth, this one just wasn’t a hit for me and that’s ok.

Sally Hepworth is great at creating twisty reads, where you never know what is going to happen! The short chapters help to keep the reader entertained and engaged as they travel through the storyline.

I enjoyed both the past and present dual POVs from the two FMCs. The reader can get a look into both women’s lives and see how they are intertwined. Hepworth also does an amazing job at out creating out of nowhere surprises, I could never have even imagined!

All of her characters are always extremely relatable and personable. As a reader, I can easily imagine myself being thrown into these situations. Cannot wait to read the next book the Sally Hepworth writes up!

For most people getting married without being in love with someone seems like the worst idea but what happens when you make this deal and then end up falling in love with them without ever telling them. For Max and Amanda it seems like the perfect set up.

Gabe and Pippa have found what they believe is their dream home, the only downside being it is on the edge of the cliff where it has been known that people have come to jump. Gabe has been recognized for saving several lives from talking them down from the cliff but when one night a woman comes that he can't save Pippa starts to question if he is telling her the whole story about what happened that night.

The multiple points of view helps keep the story moving and just when you think you have it all figured it another twist is thrown your way.

Another excellent Sally Hepworth book. I have loved her writing from her very first book so long ago. I loved the characters and plot. I especially loved the “what” toward the end. I love to be taken by surprise and this book did it. It also brought to light mental illness, which is such an important thing to know about. Thank you to Netgalley for an early read.

The Soulmate was a really twisty book! Gabe and Pippa buy a beautiful home near a cliff. They soon realize that it is a popular spot for jumpers. Yikes. Gabe is one to speak and empathize with the potential jumpers. Except one. And then Pippa discovers that Gabe knew the jumper and all sorts of twists and turns come about! I enjoyed The Soulmate very much. I really enjoy Sally Hepworth's writing and she is pretty much an instant-buy for me.

Sally Hepworth has crafted another plot with so many twists and turns that work so well you will not be able to put this read down. The plot centers on two couples that have intertwined pasts. The two wives tell the story, each from their own point of view, and as the onion layers are peeled back oh so slowly the reader creates new predictions, only to be forced to cast them aside when the next layer is peeled back.
The glimpses into these two marriages certainly made me treasure my own. The brooding “Drop” was an additional character in my own mind and set the tone for the rest of the book. Atmospheric, reminding me of the many passages written of the spooky moors in England and Scotland.
My sincere appreciation to Sally Hepworth once again for letting me escape my mundane life and giving me such joy on a long car ride, although my husband, the driver, did not appreciate my frequent gasping. Thanks also to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for affording me the opportunity to read an arc of this just recently published book. Please keep writing Sally Hepworth.

Pippa and Gabe have an interesting marriage, full of ups and downs. Pippa remains true and bound to Gabe, even when times become exceptionally hard. Gabe’s former boss’ wife turns up near their house at The Drop, a popular suicide spot, and ends up dead. Did she jump? Did Gabe push her? What secrets does everyone have stashed away?

This was a great book. Told from multiple perspectives and dual timelines, it was a lot to keep up with, but worth it! It wasn’t hard to follow and I needed to know how everything turned out for Pippa’s family, as well as the former boss. There was quite the twist at the end that I didn’t expect at all! This is a great one to pick up!

4 stars
Sally Hepworth is quickly becoming one of those authors that I'd read anything they wrote, regardless of what the story is about. I've read three books by her now, including this one, and none of them have let me down. I'm always blown away by her character building; the way she writes her characters and the depth of their emotions and thoughts is one of my favorite things about her stories. I think it's even more amazing that she's able to incorporate this character growth into a thriller/mystery type novel because honestly, that's not something I've often seen when or expect to see when I read a thriller/mystery.
Despite the amazing character development, I'm also always amazed by the uniqueness of Sally Hepworth's books. This was a story that felt really original to me, and I never really knew where it was going. The end was a little too quick for me, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, but I still enjoyed every minute of this book. This is one I could've read in a day if I had the time.
I don't want to say anything specific about the story because I don't want to give anything away. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoyes domestic thrillers, or anyone who's a fan of Sally Hepworth because this one absolutely delivers just like her other stories have.

The Soulmate
•Author: Sally Hepworth
•Rating: ✰✰✰
•Genre: Suspense/thriller

Eh this one was just okay to me. I enjoyed the short chapters (per usual) but found it confusing that the story continued to change both POV and time. It was a lot to keep up with. I really liked the characters but just felt that the plot needed more. The ending did surprise me though!

𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙨𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨: Gabe and Pippa live in their dream house on the coast. The only issue is that it’s located on a cliff that is well known for being the location of many suicides. Gabe has been able to successfully talk several people out of jumping but one day he’s not so successful…

Previousy reading The Good Sister and The Younger Wife and loving them, I knew I needed to pick up Sally Hepworth's newest thriller, The Soulmate.

Within the opening pages, we meet Gabe, a family man and a good father. Gabe has become somewhat of a local hero since they moved to a cliff house. He has talked seven people down from stepping off the edge of "the drop." But Gabe’s involvement in trying to stop suicidal strangers takes an dramatic turn when investigators wonder about the woman he was unable to save.

Hepworth sensitively addresses suicide, workplace stress, parenthood, bipolar disease, depression and infidelity. Page after page, in this quick read, I kept wondering what secrets and admissions were coming? Ultimately, Hepworth has us thinking about love and what would you/wouldnt you do for your soulmate?

Lastly, I was lucky enough to enjoy both a book and and audio version of the Soulmate. I appreciated them equally. Barrie Kreinik; Jessica Douglas-Henry really made the story come alive in the audio version.

Many thanks to Netgalley, St. Martins Press and McMillan Audio for this twisty tale. With so many discussion points - Hepworth has given us the perfect book club read!

3.5 stars. I really like Sally Hepworth books and appreciate that she doesn't usually have storylines that are super outlandish. You don't have to stretch your imagination too far with her plots. With that said, I did find it borderline absurd how much Pippa put up with in her marriage. Perhaps because Gabe's infractions seemed so extremely nutty, it took away from the rest of the plot which was pretty good. Overall, worth a read and I'd still read all of Hepworth's future novels.

Pippa and Gabe live in a house near a cliff called The Drop where people come to commit suicide by jumping. Gabe has been successful 7 times in talking people down. As Pippa watches from the kitchen window one evening, a woman Gabe is trying to talk down goes over the edge and Pippa is left wondering if she jumped or if Gabe pushed her. As the story continues, we find out that Pippa and Gabe had a connection to the woman and her husband. Sally Hepworth is one of my favorite authors and so far I have not read a book by her that I did not love!

What I loved:
- Characters! I liked Pippa and Gabe. I loved Amanda and Max and their story!
- Great side characters - Pippa's sister, Kat was great. I also liked Pippa's parents.
- I really enjoyed this plot. I found it different and creative. I loved the connections that came to light between the characters and I didn't see the twist coming at all. I loved that Amanda told her part of the story from after her death.
- I loved the way the very first sentence grabbed me and made me want to keep reading.
- Short chapters! Yes, please! I love the short chapters here.

What I didn't love:
- Nothing!

I like books that give me the feeling of creeping dread, that uneasiness when you're pretty sure the narrator isn't being straight with you. This book satisfies that itch, and has a twisty ending that makes you say...aaahhh.

This book had me hooked from the start! The twists and turns in this thriller kept me on my toes the whole time. I loved how the lives of two couples, Pippa and Gabe, and Max and Amanda, were intertwined with secrets and deceit slowly revealed. The added element of hearing from the dead was so unique and intriguing. The complex relationships and darker sides of marriage were explored in such an engrossing way. This book was a fast-paced and compelling read, perfect for fans of thrilling mysteries with well-developed characters. I highly recommend it!

"The Soulmate," by Sally Hepworth is a thrilling novel about Pippa and Gabe, a married couple, who live on a cliff in a small coastal Australian town. Unfortunately, the cliff has become notorious as a jumping point for those wishing to end their lives. Gabe has rescued many of the jumpers until one night.; he fails. and Amanda plummets.

Told from the viewpoints of Pippa and Amanda, the story evolves into an interesting commentary on marriage and betrayal. It asks us how much we would sacrifice to save something important? How much should we give of ourselves in a marriage going awry?

I liked this book; it certainly kept my interest. The characters, despite their flaws, were relatively likeable. I did question the motivations of some of the characters, which at times, did not seem to fit with their depictions. ..

I would certainly recommend it to book clubs as it would eliicit wholesome discussions.

I adore Sally Hepworth. She takes the domestic thriller and adds a layer of depth that most thrillers don't bother with. My first book of hers was the Mother-In-Law, which wowed me in that way and I haven't missed a release of hers since. While last year's The Younger Wife wasn't my favorite, it still maintained that magical mix of thriller and depth I love so much. The Soulmate ranks above The Younger WIfe for me, but a bit below The Good Sister and The Mother-In-Law. Sally Hepworth just never misses for me. As the story unfolds, it is told by the perspective of two women. One has witnessed a death out her window and some suspicious behaviors from her husband. The other perspective is actually the woman who died. That might sound like too much, but it works in building the mystery from its inception to its satisfying conclusion. Along the way, there are the twists and turns Sally Hepworth is so good at, while none of them are unbelievable or unpredictable, they do make the reader realize how much he/she assumes about situations before knowing all the details. The lessons learned about that are always appropriate for the times: Don't assume you know what is going on in people's heads, marriages, hearts, jobs, families, etc.

I really really liked this book and think anyone familiar with Hepworth's most recent 4 books will be well satisfied.
