I read the first 30 pages one day and then the rest in the following day once I had more time. If that tells you anything about the pace and excitement of this book. I found the mystique of the setting and characters so intriguing. The cliff really just set the stage for it all. If you're looking for an immersive domestic thriller, this one is for you.

This is a twisty topsy turvy nothing is quite what you think it is ride of a book. The author does a great job of giving you little bits of information at a time letting you think you figured something out and then giving you just enough information to completely change what you thought. She also did a great job wrapping things up at the end. This is my second Sally Hepworth book and it won’t be my last.

So.... I don't think Sally Hepworth is for me.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and St Martins Press for my advanced copy of The Soulmate.

The premise of this book was very promising and I did like the dual timeline and multiple POV aspect of this. By the end of the book I just didn't care.

This is my third Sally Hepworth. I rated The Good Sister 3 and ½ Stars and The Younger Wife was a 2.
Nothing has really blown me away.

Unfortunately I think this is the end of the road. I won't be reading anything else by this author.

This honestly felt a little low brow for Sally. Her books usually deliver twisty domestic suspense that are sooo creative but this just felt... sup par. It was still entertaining and a page turner but when I got to the end I was just.... unamused. It felt easy to guess and she typically writes books that are so shocking and surprising. So while I did enjoy, it still felt a bit like a corny lifetime movie.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

For some reason I just couldn’t get into this one, but I’m sure many thriller lovers will enjoy it

Sally Hepworth does it again. I finished this book in less than a day because I had to know what was happening. This book is the right amount of suspenseful. This story is told in dual point of view with 2 timelines and man is that done well. Pippa and Gabe, Max and Amanda, soulmates, secrets, trust, loyalty, fidelity. You will not want to put this one down.

I’ve read a couple of sally Hepworths books now so I was thrilled to get an early copy of the soulmate. Gabe and pippa buy a beach house on a cliff and start seeing people come to jump to their deaths, gabe has been able to talk them down every time it’s happened until the night a woman comes. Pippa is watching from the window and of course looks away for a moment and when she looks back Gabe has his hands out like he’s just pushed her. What did he do? Gabes struggle with his mental health leaves pippa exhausted but has it become more sinister? I didn’t care for the dead woman’s dialogue. But of course sally delivered a few great twists and I enjoyed it.

“The Soulmate” started off strong with POV and time changes that had me captivated. However, after the midpoint, the story became very twisty but involving themes that made me not as interested, like the business dealings of significant others. The thrilling part just fizzled out to me in the latter half of the book that has me rating it down to a 3 star rating. This one just did not leave a huge impression on me, which is unfortunate because I’ve really enjoyed a couple of Sally Hepworth’s other books. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy for review.

The Soulmate is my idea of the perfect thriller. I was not sure which way this book was going to turn, but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! And the twist at the end… shocking!! I could not put this book down!

Sally Hepworth does it again.. This book was good. I knew as soon as I read The Good Sister that Iw anted to read more so I was so excited when I saw that I was approved to read this book. It was so good and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the duration of the book. There were certainly points as well where my mouth hung open when new information would come out. Definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of thrillers/mysteries, and I definitely will be buying myself a copy when it comes out for real.

Gabe and Pippa thought they finally found their dream home when they moved to their water side location. The precarious cliff that resided in their backyard was the one downfall. What they didn’t know, however, was just how sinister the cliff had been in the past, thus the basis for their snagging a great deal on their new home.

Another thing they couldn’t have predicted was how great Gabe would be at talking people down from the ledge, quite literally. A talent no one knows they have until they have it, even the police marveled at his abilities to save lost souls. Then one night, the horrible happens, and Gabe is unsuccessful in his rescue attempt.

It’s easy to say it was bound to happen-that Gabe would strike out eventually-but details surrounding the circumstances quickly emerge and begin to make the situation murky. Pippa wants to believe Gabe had the best of intentions, but why did she see his hands outstretched the moment before the fall? Then it’s revealed that Gabe actually knew the woman who jumped. Before long, Pippa finds herself questioning everything and everyone, including her husband.

The Soulmate’s premise and eerie atmosphere immediately drew me in. I found myself turning the pages quickly in order to see what happened. Unfortunately, as the story began to unfold, things became more and more far-fetched. Told in alternating timelines and from alternating perspectives (including the woman who died), I started to suspect I knew where things were heading. To some extent, this turned out to be true, but in other ways, I couldn’t have predicted what would happen next. Some might say this is what makes a good thriller good. I would argue, though that there’s still needs to be some plausibility behind the crazy twists and turns. When all was finally revealed, I couldn’t help but feel the ending was cheesy in contrast to its promising set up.

The Soulmate didn’t find a twin flame in this reader, but that shouldn’t stop you from seeking it out for yourself.

Gabe and Pippa live in their dream home on a cliff. It's a little coastal town with history. Unfortunately, their perfect house is a popular spot for people to end their lives. Most of the time, Gabe comes to the rescue and talks people off...until the day he doesn't.

Through the police investigation, Pippa notices small inconsistencies in Gabe's recollection of events. Why lie? Then she discovers Gabe knew the victim. So did she really jump or was pushed?

Oh the twists and turns this book took me through! I didn't quite know whom to believe or what to be true. It pushed my mind to the edge trying to figure it out. Despite my dislike for alternating chapters, Sally Hepworth effortlessly transitioned between past, present and points of view. I recommend if you want to read an addictive mystery!

Happy Belated Pub Day, Sally Hepworth! The Soulmate is now available.

Sally Hepworth has done it again. THE SOULMATE contains twists that will keep you turning pages and guessing until the end. I enjoyed the multiple narrators and nonlinear timeline for each, as we try to unravel what happened on the cliff, and how everyone got to that point, as well as figuring out what happens next, since things don’t quite add up. I know, that sounds vague, but it’s more fun to try to figure out the twists on your own, rather than have someone tell you. I will say, once I started this one, things didn’t get done and people may have been ignored every time I picked it up. Sally Hepworth has become one of my must-reads, her writing is riveting, and her twists are surprising and intricately plotted. Make sure you have time to keep reading and snacks when you sit down with this one.
Thanks to the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the novel. All opinions are my own and freely given.

I feel a little conflicted about this one. On one hand, The Soulmate was quick to get into and and easily un-put-downable, but on the other it seemed to lack the thriller vibe I was seeking. Because there was so much focus on the general issues in Pippa's and Amanda's marriages and the secrets their husbands held onto but not enough focus on said secrets, this book felt more like a drama with some thriller elements thrown in than a thriller as a whole. I don't regret reading as I did enjoy the book, but I do find myself wishing there had been more.

Sally Hepworth is back with another story about the unexpected consequences of family secrets.

As with all of her books, The Soulmate is an easy, not-too-scary, domestic suspense novel, perfect for readers who want a mystery but prefer a lighter dose of thrills and chills.

Personally, I found the plot underwhelming, but I think it would work for a lot of readers! My favorite book of hers is still The Mother-in-Law.

***MILD SPOILERS***

I've read "The Mother-in-Law," "The Good Sister," and "The Younger Wife" by Sally Hepworth. I gave all three of those books 5/5 stars, and while "The Soulmate" was still an enjoyable read, it ended up receiving 4/5 stars from me. While the previously three books kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing as to what the final outcome would be, "The Soulmate" didn't hold the same suspenseful power over me.

Sally Hepworth clearly does her research as it relates to mental health issues, and this book was no exception in that regard. As a therapist, I found myself empathizing with the characters who struggled with undiagnosed (and misdiagnosed) conditions that impacted their relationships and overall well-being. I rooted for everyone, to some extent... I wanted everyone to have a happy ending, regardless of the mistakes they made along the way.

Maybe it was the introduction of a character who was dead for the majority of the story that detracted from the suspense, or perhaps it was the somewhat contrived and convenient way in which another character died that brought a flat note to the story. Whatever the reason, I'll continue to read Sally Hepworth's books and look forward to reviewing more of them in the future. Thank you for the ARC, NetGalley!

This book kept me engaged and thinking. I loved the mystery about what really happened to Amanda and the mysterious connection between the characters. The ending fell a little flat for me, but overall a fast-paced and intriguing read.

Sally Hepworth never disappoints! "The Soulmate" may be my favorite of hers (tied very closely with "The Good Sister").

I love the layout of the book, from the short chapters to the alternating POVs. The fact that one of those POVs is from the deceased waiting to pass on made it all the more interesting and unputdownable!

Secrets, betrayals, and twists happen literally every page (in the usual Sally Hepworth fashion), making this book one of my favorites of the year so far.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.

Sally Hepworth is an author I can count on when I need an enjoyable twisty read. The Soulmate is the 5th book I've read of hers and another well written, fun, unputdownable domestic suspense. What I love about Hepworth's writing and characters is I have no idea who is genuinely naughty or nice until the very end. The Soulmate takes a deep dive into the marriage between Gabe and Pippa. It includes their meet cute, love story, parenting ups/downs, frustrations, successes, and possible betrayals. I recommend Hepworth for readers who maybe new to the thriller/suspense genre and those readers who want the fast pace of a thriller without scary, gory, horror content. This book's content does include mental illness and suicide. Many thanks to NetGalley, St Martin's Press, and Sally Hepworth for the ARC.
