3.75 ish. I always enjoy Sally Hepworth’s books. They tend to be more of a domestic drama/mystery than a thriller. Told in alternating points of view from Pippa and Amanda in a nonlinear timeline, this was super fast and entertaining. Definitely a few twists I didn’t expect. It is a fun book that even though suicide is a central topic it wasn’t that dark. As with most books in this genre there’s some reality to suspend but I liked it!

Suicide, infidelity, mental illness, lgbt, ADHD, vacine, homicide, divorce, two POVs, past and present.

I didn’t like it. It was predictable, slow, I didn’t connect with most of the characters and it didn’t make me want to read more like her previous book did. I do like the author’s writing style and there was some parts of the book that was engaging and some twists that were cool but overall this book wasn’t for me. I didn’t want this to be my first DNF of the year so I read it all. The twist at end about Matt and Gabe was the best part. Sally Hepworth has quickly become one of my favorite authors and this book really solidified that. The story is carefully crafted, then takes several unexpected (but wildly entertaining) twists and turns. As I listened to the audio, I found myself gasping a time or two. Absolutely unputdownable!

I knew this was going to be another great read by Author Sally Hepworth and she did not disappoint! Pippa and Gabe Gerard move to a fabulous home high on a cliff in Australia along with their two young daughters, Freya and Asha. Pippa is a lawyer specializing in wills and estates while Gabe left a high paying job rather suddenly to be a stay-at-home dad. That is a twist in itself to go along with all the other twists in this page-turning book that keep me reading well into the night.

Another enjoyable read from Sally Hepworth! The story focuses on what is really going on with two marriages: Pippa and Gabe, and Amanda and Max. As the story progresses, the reader does not really know what to think about any of these characters because each of them has secrets — and all of them are somehow related! Told in different POVs and from different points in time, the novel has plenty of twists and turns to keep you reading and flipping pages. . . as well as a very fitting ending!

I was excited when I saw a new Sally Hepworth book was out.
I’ve enjoyed many of her books and this one was no exception.
Her writing style is easy to read and always keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Another must-read in her library!

This story follows married couple, Gabe and Pippa. They seem like such a well-balanced, put together couple raising two daughters, but are they? Their family lives next to a cliff. Gabe has saved many people from taking their last leap of life, until one day he isn’t so lucky. The victim isn’t some ordinary woman. This wasn’t a suicidal stranger, as we come to realize. 𝒯𝒽ℯ 𝒮ℴ𝓊𝓁𝓂𝒶𝓉ℯ had such a great plot, I was hooked the entire time! I had no idea who to trust.

One issue I had is that the “twist” at the end wasn’t as twisty as I thought it would be. The ending seemed to be wrapped up in a pretty package, with no shock factor. However, I feel that the plot (and all the twists throughout the story) makes up for this.

The Soulmate was a fun read about some not so fun relationships! These women are amazing and definitely find themselves in some toxic situations! I really loved this book and how it ended!

This book definitely held my interest. Especially the connection between Amanda and Gabe. Was it just an affair they discussed?
Pippa and Gabe bought a gorgeous house - unbeknownst to them, with a cliff known for suicides. Gabe works hard to help those who come to the cliff - talking to them, lending them hope. He even has an article written in the paper.
A woman comes to cliff - stammering her husband had an affair. Gabe tries to help - though Pippa isn't quite convinced. They call the police - and Pippa's life unravels.
Great twists and surprises. An enjoyable read.

Overall a great read. Heavy on the infidelity and mental illness with lots of twists! Everything is not always as they seem. Living at the house on the cliff where people come to end their lives is crazy. Having a husband who is able to talk them down seems great until one day it isn't. Was it suicide or something else?

This is exactly the type of book that I LOVE! The chapters were nice and short and left me wanting to read more and figure out what was happening. I flew through this one! I loved each twist and I thought the ending was so good. This isn’t a big part of the book at all but I really loved when Pippa was working with the Peterson’s and their little argument. So funny! I highly recommend this book!

The Soulmate is a psychological thriller built around relationship drama. It is told from the POV of 2 women - Pippa, married to Gabe; and Amanda, married to Max. Both couples were swept up in the romance of their initial relationship, only to discover some problems later. There were some good twists about how these couples are linked together as the story goes back and forth between past and present.

I always enjoy a good domestic suspense that keeps you guessing and entertained. This is what happens when people fall hopelessly in love with their "soulmate" and before long the cracks start to emerge... The secrets are slowly revealed and unexpected.

This story takes a look at marriage and murder and just what individual are willing to compromise for their marriage. We read the story from the perspective of Pippa who is happily marriage to her husband Gabe. They recently moved to a cliff town, known for individuals jumping to their death. They have experienced many people jumping as the cliff is basically in their backyard. We also get the perspective from Amanda, the individual who Gabe goes to try and talk down from jumping for the cliff. The more we learn about each women, the deeper the story and secrets go.

This book was like unrolling a carpet and secrets coming out left and right. The more you read of the story the more you learn about Pippa and Amanda and their marriages and who they are. I was hooked from the first chapter and read this book in 2 sittings because I could not put it down. I was constantly left guessing on what was gonna happen even though it seem predictable. Sally Hepworth is quickly becoming an author I love to read and this story was something I would recommend to many!

There were so many things I loved about this book: short chapters, very fast paced, lots of breadcrumbs and mystery sprinkled in throughout the entire book.
Every character is somewhat unreliable, and has secrets that are discovered throughout. I really enjoyed how my perspective of Gabe and Pippa changed throughout the book after learning some of their pasts. Gabe and Pippa’s marriage is mirrored by the marriage of the woman who killed herself. I loved the aspects of domesticity portrayed in the book - motherhood, parenthood, running a home, and keeping a marriage alive. I’m not sure the mental illness aspect/angle really tracked for me especially at the end. Overall I loved the perspectives in the book, it was extremely unique.

Love, love, LOVE Sally Hepworth!!! Her thrillers are always original and so suspenseful and I cannot get enough of them. I will be impatiently waiting for the next one...

The first half moved fast and kept me wondering, but the second half felt really long and repetitive. This felt less thriller and more sad family story. It wasn't quite what I was looking for. I really like Sally Hepworth, so I will definitely look out for her next book.

Especially when her husband, Max, says she would never even contemplate suicide. The two couples have a history and soon Pippa is believing it’s her fault Amanda jumped. The story is told in the voices of Pippa and Amanda in the now and then. Little by little we find out more about the reason for Pippa and Gabe’s move and how it ties in to Amanda’s final moments. This book was thoroughly enjoyable! It’s my 4th book by this author and I love how her stories unfold. We meet Pippi and Gabe, a married couple with 2 young daughters who live near a cliff. We meet another married couple, Max and Amanda. They share some secrets.

Amanda is seen at The Spot, the place by the cliff where people jump to their deaths. She’s there with Gabe. Gave has a history of literally talking people off the edge but he can’t save Amanda. Pippa sees it all happen and senses there’s more to the story than “she jumped.”

Told from alternating points of view and both past and present, the truth unfolds slowly and perfectly.
It instantly grabbed me and I read it in 2 days.
Highly recommend!

The Soulmate is a 2023 release from author Sally Hepworth. I never miss one of Hepworth's books, and was excited to get to read her latest one. Set in Australia, the story follows Gabe and Pippa's marriage and the subsequent trials and tribulations they go through... from affairs to murder to suicide and mental illness. It sounds far more complicated than it actually is, but due to the repercussions of not talking to one another or the problems resulting from other people's interference, this couple has had some major obstacles. Told in the past and the present, along with POVs from two different women, there is much to confuse readers who aren't carefully paying attention. In the end, the mystery has merit, but I felt the consequences of one's actions weren't properly balanced. A murderer, albeit accidental, doesn't suffer. A man confesses but the police seem to do nothing. I'm not giving away spoilers as these are all tangential to the main plots... that said, the writing is strong and the pages quickly turned for me.

After feeling meh about Hepworth's last two books. this one was by far my favorite of hers. A well written storyline, that switches timelines. We even get the before and after for the woman who falls from the cliff. I thought this was also really cleverly done.

The ending and how it all tied together did not disappoint. It had multiple layers for each character, and it was packed up nice nicely!
