I absolutely love the Thursday Murder Club series!! The Bullet That Missed is the fourth installment that is set in a retirement village in England. The characters are well developed and each story has a good mystery. Read the first three books before you read this one!

This is the third in an excellent murder mystery series. This reviewer read the previous two entries and enjoyed both so was eager to try the third - not disappointed.

I love this ever-growing group of senior detectives. The characters again prove to be the best point of the whole thing, I could not care about the actual plot most of the time, but I love the characters. This time, the Thursday Murder Club will solve the case of a dead reporter, whose body was never found but was believed to have been about to blow a case wide open.
We get more interactions between Donna and Bogdan, between Ron and Pauline, between Chris and Patrice, and they're all lovely and delightful and just make me happy. We see Elizabeth and Stephen continuing on in the truest love of all time (you know the "Princess Bride" line about the top kisses of all time, Elizabeth and Stephen is kicking them all out of the water.) Watching Stephen's slow decline is one of the most heartbreaking parts of this series and I am not looking forward to the end.
New characters are introduced, we have Fiona who is a TV show host/influencer and used to work with (compete against) the dead reporter, we have Mike Waghorn who was the dead reporter's partner on the local news and who was able to bring Mike out of his shell, we have Viktor an old contact of Elizabeth from their old spy days who is in love with her, but has also built his lucrative underground smuggling empire, and finally, the Viking who is angry at Viktor and wants Elizabeth to kill him or else he will kill her friends. They are all delightful and perfect, and this book series is amazing. I love it dearly and can't wait for the next one.

This is the only book I have read in this series. It is a delightful, highly readable, and well executed novel. While I am not a huge reader of mysteries, I will likely return to this series and author.

The Thursday Murder Club has done it again, and this latest installment is the best one yet. While the previous book had a crackerjack of a start, I found the ending less successful, this time around, the pacing is perfect, the stakes are even higher, and the plot is as clear as Elisabeth's conscience.

The club takes on the case of Bethany Waites, a television presenter who disappeared after her car went over a cliff. Joyce, one of the club members, is especially eager to get involved as she hopes to meet Bethany's charming co-anchor. But as they delve deeper into the case, they soon realize that they have a much bigger, and far more dangerous, problem on their hands. The consequences of their actions in the previous book have come back to haunt them, and they must pay the price. When an old KGB friend of Elisabeth's, Victor, becomes a target, Elizabeth must make a difficult choice - kill her old friend or risk losing Joyce.

What I love most about this series is the way the characters are allowed to grow and evolve, something that is often lacking in stories featuring septuagenarians. They become more ruthless, adventurous, and vulnerable as the series progresses, and everything that happens impacts them deeply. The way the author weaves in the everyday struggles of aging, such as Stephen's Alzheimer's, is done with such authenticity and humanity that it adds an extra layer of depth to the story. It is a rare treat to see an author like Richard Osman grow and improve with each book, and this latest installment is undoubtedly his best yet.

These get better and better! As a fan of the Thursday Murder club, I was giddy to receive a copy of the latest installment. This one had no slow spots, kept a high energy throughout. Bogdan is such a funny character, I hope we continue to see more of him in the next one.

It is a treat to have the Thursday Murder Club series as a refreshment. The club of four members is off on another adventure. Their numbers have grown to incorporate a couple of love interests. Their connection to the police department has tightened and the plot is complex. This does not detract from the humor and wit of Osman's writing. It is with great hope that the club will continue and the members will find themselves in continued good health.

Each book in the Thursday Murder Club series gets better and better. The mysteries are different plots and there are new characters introduced.
There is lots going on in this book but the story flows wonderfully. As in the other novels there is some great humor and I can’t help but love this group of characters.
I recommend these books to everyone.

The Bullet that Missed, the third book in the Thursday Murder Club series, is deserving of its nomination for Best Mystery & Thriller in the 2022 Goodreads Choice Awards. Set in Coopers Chase, an English retirement community as lively as a frat house, four sharp-as-tacks septuagenarians—Elizabeth, Ibrahim, Ron, and Joyce—spend their golden years solving crimes that leave the local police scratching their heads.

In this installment, our geriatric sleuths delve into the decade-old disappearance of a TV journalist, Bethany Waites, who vanished while sniffing around a money-laundering scheme. It’s not long before our heroes find themselves tangled in a web of two murders separated by a decade. To thicken the plot, Elizabeth’s old KGB nemesis, Viktor, emerges as a suspect, and a Viking threatens to send Joyce to Valhalla unless Elizabeth eliminates Viktor. The race is on to catch the villain before the crime scene tape is rolled out again.

The narrative is punctuated by the poignant realities of aging, including the heartbreaking progression of a character’s dementia. Yet, the witty banter and high jinks of our senior detectives provide plenty of laughs, proving that age is just a number when it comes to solving mysteries. My advice: forego the audiobook for the print version—the narration didn't do the story justice. And here’s a cherry on top: Spielberg has optioned the series! 5 stars.

Elizabeth and the gang are at it again when Elizabeth is given an ultimatum - complete an assassination or be killed herself. All the while the rest of the gang also stumble on a cold case of a missing newscaster and are on a mission to discover what happened and who did it?

As always, it is a wonderful story filled with great characters living their best lives and not letting age stop them. Very clever and reminiscent of the movies RED and RED 2, they are great works to show one can be young at heart at any age.

I'm not sure how much more I can say about Osman than I have in the past. He has just the most charming characters, and I look forward to being reacquainted with them each time I read another of the Thursday Murder Club novels. This group of seniors is just divine, giving such great color to a whodunnit. Splendidly done.

Another twisty mystery featuring the Thursday Murder Club gang. This time they’re investigating the murder of a young journalist who was on the trail of a tax fraud case and suddenly disappeared. Along the way, they create havoc in a number of lives, Joyce keeps her hilarious diary, and they make some new friends—and new enemies.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.

This wasn't my favorite book in the series, but it is definitely a good addition. I feel like we got a lot more alone time with the characters and saw a bit more of the behind-the-scenes, for better or for worse. I personally think the characters' personalities come out more when they are together, but it was nice seeing them apart for a bit and their budding relationships. I also felt like we got a lot less of Ron and Ibrahim and a lot of Elizabeth and Joyce (who I felt the second book also focused a lot on). Furthermore, there were a lot of plotlines that kind of flatlined for me, like the Viking. The story was a bit meh overall, but I will still be reading future books in the Thursday Murder Club series, for sure.

Thank you to Penguin Group Viking and NetGalley for this ARC! Sorry it's a very late review, lol.

The third installment in Richard Osman's series doesn't disappoint. The familiar cast of characters is at it again, but this time they're investigating the death of a promising young reporter 10 years in the past. Like the other books in the series, this one is a heartfelt and heart-pounding mystery with many laugh out loud moments.

When i grow up, I want to become a member of the Thursday Murder Club! I really don't know what else to say. The characters are delightful and the banter couldn't be better. There is indeed a crime, but who cares? I just want these four friends to keep talking..

Richard Osman has perfected the geriatric sleuth genre, and this one is no exception. These are favorites of our library patrons.

The Thursday Murder Club" by Richard Osman returns with another intriguing mystery, filled with unexpected twists and turns. The unique and lovable characters that are the septuagenarian residents of Coopers Chase, who make up the club, add to the enjoyment of the series. The latest installment is a fun and entertaining read.
