What Happens in Greece… I’m still not quite sure. This book is very colorfully written, and very descriptive, but I felt there was no real story here. On a positive note, I listened to this book on audio and the narrator was very good.

Did things happen? Yes. Were they described well? Yes. But overall, after reading this book, I am left wondering what the point was. I am left unchanged, though the mc’s life changed, the character herself did not and perhaps that is what is really bothering me. There was very little if any character development and the plot was flimsy at best.

There were many times while reading I almost DNFd, the things that kept me going were the narrators voice (which I felt was perfect) and how well written the book was, outside of the generally non existent plot and character development which I will be honest, is most of what I read books for. I will probably not pick up another book by this author.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing me with an advance review copy of the audiobook for free in exchange for my honest review.

Also, I would not call this book a romance. It was light fiction, perhaps? Very little if any romance in my opinion.

This is my first book by Sue Roberts and it was a great feel good read. The narration done by Esther Wane added so much to the story with the accent being addicting to listen to. Thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook, #WhatHappensinGreece.
The description throughout the book has such great details. From the food to the locations, you could really picture what was going on around you. This is probably the biggest highlight of the book.
I only gave this book 4 stars because I felt like the plot could have taken a turn a lot sooner in the book. We really didn’t see the future change with the couple to almost half-way in the book. Then the reference to the Greek man in the description of the book felt very rushed at the end.
Overall, a very lighthearted fun summer read that I would recommend.

What Happens in Greece is a refreshing story about Charlotte, who picks up with her fiance and moves to her dream location, Crete, Greece. They find a fixer upper home that will allow them to also rent out rooms to make some revenue. After several weeks, her fiance, Jamie, realizes that this is not his dream. They amicably part ways and he leaves to go back to London.
.
Charlotte, “Charlie”, stays and opens a bakery and becomes one with the locals. She loves the community that has welcomed her and supported her. She followed her dreams!
.
I enjoyed the narrator very much. Her accent was very fun to listen to and kept me engaged! This was a very wholesome book that has already been published. The Audio will be available this Thursday, July 7th!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to What Happens In Greece!

This was a sweet novel about a women coming into her self and finally living life best for her! Charlie and her fiancé Jamie always holiday in Greece. this time when they return home something feels different, like something is missing from her life. She slips back into life as a cafe owner and an aunt but she can’t stop looking at property in Greece when she finds the perfect house they are particularly giving it away. And her and Jamie make the plunge and go and why it feels right to Charlie, Jamie can’t adjust and he finds him self leaving to go back home. But Charlie finds her self in Greece and she feels at home and even finds a bakery’s to run with a local and starts to feel like a local her self, especially when Darius takes an interest in her. This was a lovely story about a women doing what’s best for her self and had great character development and was very easy to get lost into with the perfect setting. The narrator was fabulous to! If you like these kind of story’s I recommend this one! It’s the perfect summer story!

The story is mainly told from Charlie's perspective and I actually enjoyed reading the story--I admired her courage and determination, not to let her heartbreak ruin her dream. I do like Charlie's relationship with her friends and Milly her sister. Overall, I actually enjoyed reading this book, and the author has done a good job of drawing the reader into the story, making the reader feel like they are a part of the story.

If you like a good romance book with Greece as the setting, this book is one for you--worth four stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

Cute novel about new beginnings in an exotic Greek setting! Charlie and Jamie move to Crete to start living their dreams, but soon Jamie realizes that he misses his friends and home in London. They break up. Jamie returns to England and Charlie stays in Crete alone, trying to get on with her life. She meets wonderful people in her new village, opens a business, and starts to think that she may find love again with one of the handsome locals. Easy pacing, engaging characters, and a fascinating setting make this a great beach novel. I really enjoyed it!

This is the first book in the series. I really liked it. We got to learn some things about the characters. We got to learn a little bit about Greece. The antics of the goat are funny. I hope the second book includes even more!! I cant wait to listen to the next one when it comes out!!

I really enjoyed this read about finding where you belong and what makes you feel at home. I would not categorize this as a romance more like general fiction/women's fiction. It was a heart warming read that was just what I needed this summer.

This story is about Charlotte (Charlie) and Jamie buying a house in their favorite vacation destination (Greece) to start a life together. In the process of fixing up their house, they realize their paths might be heading on different paths. Charlie now has to navigate her life as she makes new friends, routines, and a living in her new town.

I enjoyed this read a lot. I listened to the audio and it was a great listen for the summer. I loved Charlottes character and I love how mature the characters acted in situations. I really enjoyed all the additional characters in the community and loved "running into people" on the street. I am usually a romance reader and while there is a romance subplot I enjoyed this book for more than just that.

A huge thank you to netgalley and the publishers for an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I was so excited to start this book! I have always wanted to visit Greece, I love romance books, and the description made it sound like it would be filled with drama, heartache, humor, and love. Unfortunately, the description of the book had more drama and excitement than the book itself. I felt like this was a slow-paced, inspirational novel great for someone dealing with heartache or wanting to restart their life and go for their dreams. The romance part of the book didn’t have any sparks or swoon worthy scenes, and I felt like Charlotte’s character didn’t express her emotions as much as I was hoping for. I enjoyed the bakery scenes, and would have loved for some more details on her house renovation. With a bit more drama, and more emotional scenes added in, I could see this being a cute hallmark-like plot.

I wanted to like this audio book I really did… I just could not get into it… unfortunately it was so repetitive I lost all hope for this book. Using the same good morning, the same days over and over… unfortunately it just wasn’t for me… I do appreciate been given the opportunity by NetGalley to hear this book and I can’t wait for more… it’s just this wasn’t for me

This is a sweet, fast-paced, albeit predictable, summer read. I felt like it's a story that's been told many times before. But it was definitely a good audiobook to listen to while doing chores.
The setting was stunning, to the point that it did make me fall in love with Crete and look into purchasing real estate and possibly relocating there some day.

A big thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my personal opinion.

Another adventure in Greece! I enjoyed following along with Charlie on her new chapter in life. She has an idea of what she is looking for and she goes out and gets it! I also love that this story is not based on romance, but it is a part of the story. It shows Charlie’s strength and ability that she is doing it on her own and she doesn’t need a man to achieve her goals!

The characters in this story are fun to get to know. It was also fun hearing the narrators different voices for each one and really helped me keep them straight! I would recommend the audio as it was fun to listen to the Greek adventures as opposed to just reading them on the page!

Add this one to your summer reading list!!!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media, Sue Roberts, and NetGalley for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review!

This book is my first by Sue Roberts. I was excited to read it because it’s summer and I can’t imagine a better place to be than Greece! The story started out exploring the life of Charolette (Charlie) and her fiancée Jamie, two Brits living in Chester, England. Charlie owns and runs her own bakery while Jamie is a mechanic. They’re constantly busy and are looking to buy their first home without any luck. One day, Charlie stumbles upon a listing in Greece, a place her and Jamie have been to many times for vacation. Charlie starts to imagine her life there and is surprised when Jamie agrees to travel to Greece to look at the home. Once there, they fall in love and can imagine an easier lifestyle in Greece. They put in an offer and get the house!

Fast forward to months later after putting in so much time to fix up the home, along with create a rental space, and just on the cusp of Charlie wanting to open a new bakery on the island, Jamie leaves not only Greece, but Charlie. Heartbroken but happier in Greece, Charlie stays and opens her bakery. She becomes friends with many of the locals and begins to enjoy her single life working towards her goals.

A love interest comes up, I guess. Charlie won’t act on anything because she’s enjoying her independence. But the way it was brought around was odd. To me, the book was excellent up until Charlie and Jamie split. Afterwards, I felt that the same message was being hammered again and again. I was honestly bored with the second half of the book. The conversations were numerous but did not add to the storyline. I was just waiting for the love interest to blossom and become something but it fell flat for me.

A sweet and fast paced story set in Greece about doing what your heart desires. The story makes you want to root for the main characters success.

A new take on an old story, it feels like a fresh version of Under the Tuscan Sun. A young couple moves to Greece and buys a house on the spot. It's about embracing change and jumping into adventure head first to discover what makes you feel the most like you. This is my first Sue Roberts book and I can't say it will be my last but I definitely didn't love it. The story was great but to me the pacing of the story was too slow. To me it felt the story didn't truly begin until around chapter 20.

They really laid the ground work that our main character does more for others than herself and I liked the characters because the struggle seemed genuine. There are relationship struggles, renovations on the house, and meeting new people in a new area. I wanted a little more drama to go along with the ups and downs of living in a new area. The house issues can quickly be solved, misunderstandings were resulted quickly, and feelings were wrapped up easily. I wanted a little more struggle or something that takes a bit of time to resolve to keep the story interesting. The premise of the story is great but to me I wanted a little more going on behind the scenes.

Overall, this is an easy breeze book that was fast paced and sweet but the story felt a tad underdeveloped. If someone wants a cute beach read I would recommend this story. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book!

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. If you are looking for an easy cute read this is perfect for you. The narrator did a great job and it is perfect for lounging by the pool or in the sandy beach. I would read from this author again

Very sorry , just could not get interested. Had to DNF. I thought the concept would be more entertaining than it was. There was no drama whatsoever.

If you are looking for a beach read- this one is perfect! It’ll have you imagining the quaint white homes, crystal clear blue waters, and trellising grape vines of Greece in no time.

I really loved the main character in this book for a few reasons:
- She wasn’t afraid to chase her dreams
- She was hardworking and determined
- She’s very relatable and makes friends easily
- She didn’t settle for a relationship that wasn’t truly fulfilling her life
- She finds a true work life balance
This is definitely a romantic tale, but I think the true heart of the story is with Charlotte and her journey toward her dreams.

Huge thanks to NetGalley for access to this one. The narration was alright but I didn’t love how the narrator portrayed the male voice.
