This was such an awesome read. 4/5 stars. Thank you so much for the chance to read this ARC. <3 I loved thi9s book.
Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press and Carrie Doyle for letting me read The Girl with the Dragonfruit Tattoo in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this cover was great, and loved the title! Think murder mystery meets tropical vacation. Plum is a hotel business manager and likes to solve murders in her spare time. Her friend happens to be staying on a fancy yacht, and Plum gets invited a a party. She meets Lysette (a waitress) that tries to talk to Plum about a murder, but Plum is too busy to chat and doesn't give the time of day. Lysette ends up dead, and Plum is invited onto the yacht as an undercover 'detective' to investigate.
I found the book dragged a bit in the middle, but I liked the character development. It was a classic who-done-it, and is perfect for readers that enjoy that trope.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.
The cover is phenomenal and made me want to grab the book right away. The book takes place on a luxury yacht which is a fun location filled with privileged folks.
I found it difficult to connect with any of the characters. It was not until after I started reading that I realized this was the third book in a series so that may have been why. I truly did not like or feel like I knew any of the characters even by the end of the book. For this reason, it was difficult to read at times.
This was not my favorite cozy mystery but the end does end in a CLUE style where each character is given a motive which I found fun at the end.
I love cozy mysteries but this one wasn’t a favorite. I didn’t realize it was part of a long series when I started reading so there were references to past books I did not quite understand. The characters were somewhat like able and some of the plot was not completely believable.
Plum’s life is going well. Business is booming and life on Paraiso is blossoming. When invited to a dinner hosted by a music executive, Plum is all for a relaxing evening of food and fun, after all, she’s earned some fun.
When the body of one of the servers from the dinner is found, Plum sets out to find out who did it…and finds herself out at sea with a murderer. Now Plum has to finger a murderer while trying to keeps herself alive. Paradise has its price.
A fun series set in tropical Paraiso will you want to kick back with a tropical drink and enjoy this one on a beach somewhere. we’ll developed characters, a well designed mystery with red herrings and a hunky love interest add to the allure. Spend some time in Paraiso!
This book surprised me. I’m definitely one for mystery’s and this one takes the cake. Being set Caribbean and then a normal person cruising with rich snobby people (and some major secrets found out)
The only thing is that it felt jumpy and there were a lot of things mentioned that would have been great to know then other things that had me question why they were the actual focus.
All in all Plum is a great character and I want to know more of the story as this is the third book in the series.
The book is okay. I didn’t like the tone of the story. The characters are okay. The author did a good job portraying rich people. I was surprised by who the killer is. #TheGirlwiththeDragonfruitTattoo #NetGalley
Part of a series, but first I've read. Was not lost though, and enjoyed the book. A good cozy mystery set on a yacht. Plum is asked by the police to take advantage of her invite and see what she can find out about the cast of rich Hollywood types on board. Good story, and liked the gathering at the end (reminded me of Agatha Christie). Would recommend, and curious to read more.

The cover! I absolutely adore the cover. That’s usually exactly the opposite I got for, I prefer realistic ones, but this is smashing! I loved it right away. All the right colours.
I did fit know/realise that this was a series. Oh well.
Plum is in the hotel business and a wannabe investigator. On a shallow rich people party on a yacht, she meets waitress Lysette. Lysette is desperate to talk to the wannabe detective about “murders”. High and almighty Plum has no time to grant an audience. The next day Lysette is found dead at sea and the wannabe detective is called to investigate alongside the chief, who clearly does not want her there.
I am sorry but I can’t take this seriously. Citizen rogue once again. Everything about this book is belittling.
The cover was pretty much the only thing I liked. I try to finish every book out of respect for the author. This one seemed like hard work right from the start - for me though. I was debating to just give up.
I liked none of the characters, none. They were all terrible and superficial. I mean ok, they were supposed to be shallow rich people, but please. Even Plum was absolutely awful. Rude at times and arrogant as well.
The “police” seemed unfit and useless.
I was expecting to be swept somewhere tropical, a light, fun read. While this was very aloof, there was no fun in it at all. Which is a shame because I got really excited for this. This was painful to finish.
I was really torn with this one. I had read a previous book in the series and found it enjoyable enough, so I was excited to read this one. The mystery is well plotted and the descriptions of the scenery as always made me want a vacation somewhere warm and tropical. Plum gets roped into solving a murder while on a yacht with celebrities and an old friend in this one, and a few things just bothered me enough to make this less enjoyable than I remember the first as being. One, there are times when Plum comes across as just unlikeable. We all have our moments, but she can be superficial and condescending. Two, the police decisions in this one strain belief. I’ll keep reading the series, hoping the next book is a bit better. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
I wasn't to sure about this book?! Its not really my type of book, it had light suspense, intrigue, mystery, murder, and a great who done it! It was more of a funny light read rather than a gritty murder mystery! But! I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this book! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I will definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you netgally and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
