The Dark Protector series keeps getting better, and it was already amazing! The dynamic created at the beginning of the book builds and builds and then, explodes, but not for a couple of pages. I literally could not put it down. It was like a crazy roller coaster ride, and the ride slowed down, started going backward, and didn’t stop. What a great ride! There’s not enough I can say about this book, this series, but bad boy Garrett has met his match in the form of a young woman called Destiny. The heat gets cranked up, and then the action, well it just never stops.
You could read it as a stand-alone, but I’d have to say if you do not and want to start at the very beginning of the DP Series with “Fated,” another great book and the first one of the series it might take a little bit to get to Garrett’s Destiny - go ahead, read it as a stand-alone, then; you could go back and start with Vampire’s Faith which is the second generation, the second arch in the series. This read is well worth your time and effort, as a stand-alone, as part of the second arch, or from the beginning - well, it’s no effort to read this or any other part of the series! Just a great time!
Garrett’s Destiny is the book I have been waiting for. Garret find his mate was different than the other books. He didn't think she was the one at first. I loved all the twist and turns in the story. There was plenty of action and spicy times and we find a little more out about the ongoing story line for the series. Could not put it down and I really enjoyed it
Destiny (Dessie) has an inoperable brain tumor and she doesn't have much time left. So she wants to just live her life for as long as she can. When she runs into Garrett and she recognizes him from a dream she had of him and is drawn to him, he doesn't understand why he's also drawn to her. Garrett is a demon-vampire hybrid and one of the seven and is very suspicious of Dessie. All he knows is that he can't let her go until he figures out who or what she is even though everything in him says she's just a human. So she agrees to get on the back of his bike and come with him wherever he's going.
His friends don't really trust her but there's no talking him out of bringing her along. Dessie and Garrett feel a strong pull towards each other but she's not an enhanced female so she can't be his mate even though everything in him says she is. There are more questions than answers when it comes to Dessie for most of the book. But Garrett is not giving up on hoping that his family can somehow cure the tumor in her brain so they can figure out their future.
There's a huge twist about her, the tumor and the past few years of her life. Not to mention the fact that her aunt puts a hit out on her because the money her parents left her. There were so many things going against her and yet she seemed to take most of it in stride while Garrett is the one who's having a hard time dealing with it all and how it all pieced together. Sometimes you can see where a story is going but the twists in this one just kept coming and I never saw them coming or where this story was headed. But they made the storyline so much fun to read.
I've been reading this series from the beginning and have loved the books. But this one was even better than the last few and now I'm looking forward to reading the next one because it looks like the evil being that The Seven have been preparing for...is going to be coming for them soon. I cannot wait!
Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Garrett! Been waiting since I heard of him in the first book! I am beyond happy! The book was fast pace, love the chemistry and the humor! My top 5 book I love this author!
Whoop! Garret’s book is finally here and what a story it is. Destiny was an unexpected character. Take all the twists and turns in the world, throw in some fine writing and you have this book. So much happens and so much more is about to happen after this book, it’s kinda impossible to be patient and wait to see what will happen next.
This is book 15 in the Dark Protector's series and I would absolutely read them in order, at minimum since book 8 as they all are building a bigger story ARC around these couples. In this one we (finally!!) get Garrett's story! As the nephew of the king, Garrett Kayrs has always held a lot of responsibility. He stuck to his path with dogged determination and always did what he thought was right. Even when that put him at odds with his family. But then the nightmares began. Of him finding his mate and having her riding on his motorcycle with him, and then ripped away. He knows she is in danger, he just has to find her so he can protect her. Destiny knows there are things that she is supposed to do, but she hasn't been given a direction to know how to fulfill what she must do. As a child, she sensed the male that she thought was hers. And when he finds her, she has no choice but to go with him, even if it might mean his death.
I have been wanting Garrett's story for a long time, and it in no way disappoints!! Garret is just as alpha male as his father, and just as protective of those he cares about. He will do anything and everything he has to do in order to protect them. Even when it places him at odds with them. Destiny grew up very differently than anyone else. And in ways that I certainly wasn't expecting!! But regardless of her upbringing, this woman is sweet and strong. And even though she is afraid of what could happen, she still does what she needs to do. As usual with this author, the writing is phenomenal and the story sucks you in right from the start. And the way the bigger story line is being pushed along, I cannot wait for the next book in this series! I need to know how it all will end and how the big bad is taken care of!!
I have waited a long time for Garrett’s book. It’s one of my best reads for 2022. Garrett has been having dreams about his mate and looking for her. Destiny walks into a bar, sees Garrett, and recognizes him from her dream. Garrett feels he must protect her but she has many secrets , one of which is that she has a brain tumor and only months to live. Destiny is a strong woman and will not bend to Garrett’s will. Their relationship is intense and steamy. Destiny has an innocence about her but a spine of steel. As we get closer to what will happen with The Realm, The Kurjons and The Seven, we find out many things in this book. Garrett is the true alpha male and perfect to lead the Realm in the future. This series, written by Rebecca Zanetti, is one of the best in the Paranormal world.
As a long time fan of this series I have been waiting for this book for YEARS! It was amazing to get to see Garrett’s whole life progress through this series. From birth , childhood, and becoming the amazing man he is it was an first for me. He really is my most beloved character in this series. And with that being said this book totally did him justice. Dessie was a breath for fresh hair. I absolutely loved her and their chemistry together was fire. Amazing story.
Entertaining, fun adventure of a series with lots of passion and action! Really enjoying this series! There are storylines and characters that have been mentioned in previous books, so it may be good to read the previous books for the best reading experience, but each book is about a different couple so you can enjoy this one on its own. Vampire-Demon Garrett is in for a surprise when he finds his mate is a breakable human, but Destiny has her fierce side! Really like that they dream of each other before meeting, so they already have a bit of a bond in place. Love the protective nature of Garrett! There’s always danger afoot to bring that out of Garrett. Looking forward to more!
Garrett’s Destiny by Rebecca Zanettti
Dark Protectors series #15. Paranormal romantic suspense. Best read as part of the series. Cliffhanger for the overall series but not for this book.
Garrett has been looking for his mate for a long time. He doesn’t expect the human female to be more than a short distraction but her recklessness and passion have him ensnared. That she has a tumor and only a short time to live has his protective instincts ruling and she’s thrust into a world she’s never imagined.
Destiny is a lot naïve having been brought up in a secluded school. She soon learns there was a lot more to the school than she knew and she awakens to a paranormal world of demons, Vampires and shifters. Plus her sexual awakening is hot and repeated often. The danger and evil becomes real and tense while her tumor gets worse and the nation must focus on the ultimate ending. The battle is fought and the war is inevitable.
Intense, thrilling, steamy and heart melting.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I’ve also purchased multiple formats of this book to keep and share. It’s a favorite series.
We finally get Garrett's story. Destiny is smart and gutsy but also a bit naive and seems off/out of place. while Garrett's alpha nature comes to the forefront, it wasn't too over the top which I appreciated. I also appreciated that while there was definite chemistry brewing between the two from the start, the relationship between the two was allowed to grow slowly over time and they got the know each other and secrets and mysteries were uncovered (even though this also meant some parts of the book felt a little slow early on). The series arch plot was moved along nicely and without too much of Hope/Drake/Pax drama allowing the story to focus to remain on Garrett and Destiny. Overall a satisfying story bringing Garrett his long awaited HEA and for the series in general.
Garret Kayrs - Vampire, Demon hybrid, next iin line to be King of the Realm, dedicated member of the seven. For years he's dreamed of the dangerous woman who is to be his mate. The one who will ride on the back of his bike, yet try to kill him. When Destiny Applegate enters his life he's understandably confused. He's drawn to the fragile, human woman looking to experience life as a deadly tumor that is slowly killing her. With more questions than answers, Garrett puts Destiny on the back of his bike, determined to save her at any cost. Still, his instincts are screaming and he feels the danger closing in
Garrett's Destiny is the latest in Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protector series. From the start, questions pile up, but answers are scarce, the war with the Kurjians continues to heat up and the action ramps up with each turn of the page. This is the one fans of the series have been waiting for and they will not be disappointed. Readers unfamiliar with the series would do well to go back a few books to Vampire's Faith to get up to speed with characters and the background of the series.
Garrett Karys has been waiting to find his mate for a long time. His parents have a faded love as does his sister. He has seen his best friend as well as all of the seven find their mates as well. Garrett is always presumed to be the heir to the king who happens to be his uncle and he is also a member of the seven. He feels like he has control and can run his life how he chooses. When he runs into destiny he is confused by who she is but determined to make her listen to him.
Garrett may think he is in control of his own fate but fate has other plans. Destiny knows she’s drawn to Garrett but she does not know a lot about what she sees in her head. Their love story is filled with so many surprises and unexpected bumps that Rebecca Zanetti keeps you glued to this book until the end.
We get to see old favorites and learn new information about old enemies as well. Destiny has a past that she doesn’t even know about that does affect both her and Garrett’s future. Destiny’s past is also going to affect everyone else in the realm.
This book met every expectation for how I wanted Garrett to find his mate. She is worthy of him and their love story is one of my new favorites. I am also anxiously awaiting the next book to finally see who Hope chooses. As always as soon as you finish Rebecca Zanetti book you are anxiously awaiting the next book
This is one of my all time favourite paranormal romance series and I absolutely loved this latest installment! The battle between Ulric (and his followers) and the Seven reaches a pivotal point in this book. It’s action packed and fast paced, with the plot twists coming thick and fast as we head towards the crescendo of the series. Set against all this is Destiny and Garrett’s story. I just adored Dessie, with all her idiosyncrasies and intriguing past. My mind was racing with all the possible outcomes as her secrets were gradually unveiled and her future path revealed. This book grabbed my attention from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until I’d finished it!
Terrific PNR Romance!!
I’ve had my eye on Ms. Zanetti’s books for a while, but this is the first one I’ve been able to read. I wish I had not waited so long! Though this story comes in mid-series I was able to catch on to the dynamics of this PNR world and the characters easily.
Destiny has lived remotely at a private school on an island. She is working to gain some “life experiences” as her time left on this world is short, and she has been very sheltered. When she runs into a man that she met in her dreams; she doesn’t realize his true nature.
Garrett is a vampire-demon hybrid, and should only be attracted to an enhanced human, not one such as Destiny.
An intricate storyline, full of magic, romance, danger and all the things you would hope for in a PNR series. I thoroughly enjoyed this story!
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
We have been waiting a while for the dark and broody Garrett to get his story. Dessie is a perfect match for Garrett. Dessie has many mysterious secrets. There was something that I didn’t see coming. Garrett is the OTT protector we all love. A great addition to the series.
A dangerous and sensuous journey for Vampire-Demon Garrett Kayrs and Destiny “Dessie” Applegate. Trying to avoid a man who seems to be following her leads Dessie to a bar where she meets Garrett. She recognizes him although she has never met him, only in her dreams. Garrett is instantly suspicious and immediately attracted to her. His prophecy is that there is a mate for him, a mate who will try to kill him. Is Dessie his mate? Keeping her close until he can further investigate is the only way to ensure his safety. When he learns of her dire medical condition, he is determined to take her to his home where he is positive that doctors can cure her. Although she has accepted her fate, what if trying to find a cure puts them in even more danger? He will fight everyone who tries to claim her, she is his, she is his Destiny! Although, I have not read every book in this series, the amazing update on previous characters is an added bonus. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Review:
“Right now, she wouldn’t bet her life on her sanity. Reason had fled the building the second she’d walked into that diner and met her dream man, who turned out to be a vampire with some demon blood. One who’d almost mated her.”
I’ll start the review saying I had never read this series before, so, when I started reading about MC clubs, vampire-demon hybrids, shifters, enhanced humans, The Realm, The Seven, a villain that can’t be put down, you can only imagine how I was a little confused. Well, all I can say is that Rebecca is that talented and made me enjoy every confusing crazy moment.
I loved both MCs. Garrett was this powerful being and Dessie just this fragile innocent human (or was she?) and they, somehow, matched perfectly! The secondary characters are also great and they already had their books in the series or they will in the future and I’m here for the ride! The plot was also very intriguing with Dessie’s mysterious past that we got to learn about little by little. The hot scenes? They were not many, but they were super spicy!
Do I recommend it? Of course! Do I think you should read the previous books before this one? Most definitely! However, if you want to live dangerously like myself, go for it and start with Garrett’s Destiny.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ***
Garrett’s Destiny is the fifteenth book in Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors series. This book is a romantic suspense novel with fantastic characters and a great storyline which adds to the ever growing Dark Protector World that Zanetti has created.
Vampire-Demon Garrett Kayrs is being pulled in all directions by his responsibilities to his family, the Realm, the Bear Clan and the Seven. He has spent years searching for his mate that was destined to kill him; but can human, Destiny Applegate, be the ONE? Now that he has found her Garrett will do anything to keep her safe, even if it means taking on Ulric and the Kurjan himself. Read it and find out what happen next in this amazing series that is filled with danger, intrigue, passion and love.
All the books in this series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
4.5 stars
It was sweet to read Garrett find his mate. Him being Talen’s son, it’s no surprise he’s fiercely protective, but growing up with the strong women in his life he’s also extremely caring and soft when needed. If there’s anyone who needs that type of partner it’s Dessie. She grew up without the love and support of a family. As the story goes on it’s obvious there was a lot more going on in her upbringing and Garrett is the perfect friend to have while it’s all coming to light.
This book moved this series forward by leaps and bounds. A lot that we’ve been waiting to happen either happened or is on the very precipice by the end of this story. Of course, Garrett and Dessie get their HFN, but there are many battles to be fought before we know who will be coming through at the end. With how much things are ramped up in this book, I couldn’t help but look for signs in everything. Some things happened with some of the enhanced humans that are now mates that could have been a coincidence but could also come into play with the way Ulric’s release will affect the overall physics in our world. It’ll be interesting to see if I’m reading too much into things or if I’m onto something.
The faith and support Garrett gives to Dessie through everything, even when his family is being cautious, is everything. As for Dessie, I love her open-minded approach to all that is happening. She is very pragmatic when it comes to her health issues and even tries to protect Garrett from the heartbreak of that illness when he is so hopeful and sure that his people will be able to help her. It’s beautiful and touching and had me loving this couple more and more as the story progressed.
There is everything in this book that I’ve come to expect from this author in this series; heat, love, action, intrigue, hot alphas, and strong women.
